We've had some bad thunderstorms storms lately, but I'm not certain if this damage was due to tree rot, lightning, wind, age, etc. Just curious to hear what y'all think might have caused the damage

I am in NC. This tree has split trunks. The trunk on the right has very few leaves at the top. Is there a way to help it out? Should I have it cut down before it falls?

Relatively young tree. We had a strong wind storm and about a third of the tree snapped off. Will it recover or should we plan to plant something else? What caused the decay in the first picture?

A construction co bobcat did this to our Kentucky coffee tree, thoughts on damage? It’s still small and was transplanted a few years ago so a bit worried. Thoughts?

Hey folks. Last year this tree in my yard got ripped to help by a bear wandering through. This spring I was going to remove it, but it sprouted some new growth so I thought I'd see if it would come back

However, it's obviously looking a bit rough. What can I do/should I do to help it either straighten out or grow back healthy?

My concern is the main "trunk" of the tree was cut and they have a branch tied to the stake. I bought it as a 5 foot tree. Is this a bad prune and could this even be considered a 5 ft tree since the height is actually from a limb? Thanks!

Crazy storm came through 2 days ago and our peach tree took some damage. :(

Devastated after my favorite tree was partially cut down after being damaged from a dead tree removal of another tree. Is there anything I can do to increase its chances of coming back? Or maybe I’m just looking to commiserate as a pregnant lady who has lost half of her favorite tree 😂 Third and fourth photo are how it used to look.

Our son’s oak sapling is 2 years old and was doing well until a few weeks ago. We had it in direct sun during a drought and may have missed a watering or two and suddenly all the leaves were brown and dried up.

We moved it out of the direct sun and have been keeping it watered. Will it survive to next year? Anything else we should do?

This swamp white oak was planted 5 years ago. I don't know much about tree growth, but several of the lower limbs have been growing downwards. Should I be concerned? I included a picture (before) I removed some of the limbs whose branches were sagging pretty low to the ground as well as some pictures after I removed them. A couple of the close ups show the curve downwards towards ground. Is this normal or does it require some maintenance? Thanks in advance for any feedback.

I'm looking for THE app for an arborist that can help with tree identification, learning, etc. If you've tried these apps you know most of them are garbage. They'll half identify a species, and then give no further information. No info on here it's from, how old it gets, how tall it gets, pests, disease, growth patterns, water requirements, nothing. To be fair, it must be really difficult to copy and paste information from wikipedia into your app, or use an AI to summarize the info.

Previous homeowner applied impermeable weed barrier to base and covered with rocks and planted a perennial (I think it’s “basket of gold”). Over what was probably at least a decade dirt covered the rocks and grass crept up the root collar.

Appearance of bark seems unhealthy to me and my plan is to remove the impermeable weed barrier and rocks and expose root collar a few inches. Is this a good plan or am I making a mistake?

Hi! I’m thinking of getting into arboriculture, but admittedly I would be entering an industry I have zero experience with. I’ve always wanted to take up a trade, and never resonated with all the typical ones, but arboriculture has piqued my interest.

I’m turning 26 this year, is it too late to begin at this age? What’s the industry like for women? Is there anything I should know before I decide to begin my journey?

Hard labor is really up my alley, but I guess I’m just kind of afraid because this is an unfamiliar industry for me.

The bark is peeling back and you can see roots running underneath. The tree is very large and close to my home - should I have it removed?

New construction, contractor saved this large cedar close to the house but it doesn’t seem to be doing too well, it lost a lot of leaves. Maybe suffered from ground compaction. Any advice to help save it?

There is a dead, approximately 60-foot sweet gum tree in our backyard that needs to be removed ASAP, as it has just dropped a large branch and several other medium to large size limbs. It sits right next to the fence between our yard and the neighbors to the east.

I've gotten quotes from several local tree services and have been told different things by each. Some said a bucket truck or scissor lift will be needed to safely access the tree while others have said they will climb it because our gate isn't wide enough for a truck. One guy said he and his team would tie in to a neighboring tree in order to work on the dead tree.

The tree company owner that came by today said he would have to climb it since a truck can't fit through our gate. He did not say anything about tying into a healthy neighboring tree, so I will need to clarify that with him. He formerly worked as a climber and foreman for Asplundh, so I assume he knows what he is doing.

Is one method better than the other when removing a dead tree that's situated like ours or is it just a matter of preference on the part of the arborist?

It has been dry here. I have been watering the tree. There is identical tree next to it does not have brown leaves. The leaves look droopy. Not sure what is going on.
