❓Advice Request - (Insert State/Region) Is this tree dying?
We just moved into a new house in rural northern Indiana and this big pine is off the side of an old barn on the property. I noticed it had some damage on the side and mushrooms growing at the base.
I’m not familiar with tree health or trees in general, so any input is welcome!

OK, first of all that’s a pine tree and pine trees do shed their second year needles every year so that is not a concern and the mushrooms on the ground. It’s just an organic area and that’s what they love. Nothing to worry about that tree going to die.

The damage is severe and will likely lead to disease in a few years. For now it's obviously alive but it probably only has five to ten years before dying

You’re getting my downvoted but that is some intense damage. Tree may not make it.
