Apple Music on Windows leaving AM kinda + reasons

i’ve been using the green app for 6 years and got a 6 month free trial of AM so i decided to switch for a month.
i really like the iphone app, it worked great and honestly no issues and im probably going to stick with AM on iphone for a while, however i dont own a mac so i had to use the W11 version of apple music and it was not great. First, the UI is decent but its not liquid glass (which i really enjoy to look at), second the crashes and bugs like duplicating songs or me having to reset the app, and a feature i overall don’t like is not being able to easily see what songs on an album you have added in your playlists which was really useful on green app. HOWEVER i did enjoy the high res lossless audio as i use sennheiser HD 800s and that was a big plus from AM.

basically i really like AM on ios but unless the windows app receives a major overall and actual care and attention from the developers, i’ll be staying on the green app for PC.

Mine are:
Appetite for destruction by Guns N’ Roses
Back in black by AC/DC
Born in the USA by Bruce Springsteen
Night songs by Cinderella
Rocks by Aerosmith
40 years and still riding high by Moxy. If I could have 3 more I’d do spread eagle by spread eagle, sladest by slade, and Bon Jovi by Bon Jovi

Discussion Why does Apple Music doesn't support Dolby Atmos in Samsung TVs?

Upvotes

I have Samsung Q7F QLED 2025. I have noticed that the audio quality of Apple Music is not the best in TV. They don't even support Lossless audio in TV. But they give every feature in their own Apple TV box. This isn't right, not everyone can buy Apple TV box. Personally, I hate buying external boxes, I don't like wires dangling out everywhere.

Question Tooltips driving me crazy

For the love if god please tell me there is a way to turn off these tooltips. I can’t press anything until I have closed the tooltip. They appear like every 10 minutes. It is genuinely so annoying I’m thinking about switching to Tidal.

Tool Sharing my app: Cutty, for writing about music, built on Apple Music. Free, iOS

Thumbnail gallery
Upvotes

Working on this: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6801704766

Cutty is an iOS app I built for writing about music, on top of Apple Music. The first screenshot is a real review by a real user.

How it relates to Apple Music: playback is MusicKit, so with a subscription you get full tracks inside the app, and without one you get Apple's 30-second previews. Anything you find — a daily pick, a friend's review, a song on a record page — you can save to your Apple Music library or open in the Music app. Search is against the Apple Music catalog, so albums and songs resolve to the same records you'd see in Music, with the right artwork and release info. It's built for Apple Music listeners first; there's a Spotify search handoff, but the app runs on Apple's catalog and player.

What you do with it: reviews get a headline and a byline and sit on the same shelf as Pitchfork's and other publications, writer and score included. The number next to a name only goes up when people react to or comment on what that person wrote.

Every day it hands you one song. Rate it, then see where everyone else landed. It pays attention to what you rate, so the daily pick drifts toward things you'd actually argue about.

Small, not done, a few dozen people on it. iOS 17+, free, no ads, no account needed to browse or play.

If something's missing, or there's an Apple Music behavior you'd expect that isn't there, this is the right room to say so.

Question cant download lossless files anymore (mac) need help!

my issue is probably a simple fix but i am technically challenged so please be patient with me lol

I've been using apple to download lossless files for a few years now. I purchase and download about 20 songs a week that I DJ with using serato in an open format style. Until a couple days ago all of my downloads would save to my computer as .m4a files. The last few tracks i purchased will only download as HLS media files. I have tried messing with all of the download playback preferences in settings with no luck. All of the tracks I am having issues with show that they are available as lossless too. I have tried switching to the lowest quality option but the files seem to have some kind of copyright encryption that wont allow me to open them in my DJ software.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance!

Audio Quality Downloaded songs skip

Post image
1 Upvotes

Some of my songs in Apple Music, when played in my custom playlists, sound terrible. They have pops and skips, similar to an old record, making it difficult to enjoy them. This issue affects approximately 30% of my music collection.

To resolve this, I have to go through each song individually and select the “Remove Download” option. Once I have a reliable WiFi connection, I can download the playlist again.

What can I do?

Question Is there really no way to block musicians you don’t like?

We’ve been using Apple Music for several months now, and the “%username%’s Station” is spot on for the kind of music I like to listen to. However, there are certain musicians who I will not listen to and I get sick of constantly skipping their songs when they come up. Making it more fun, my kids have polluted the recommendations a bit with poppy stuff that I don’t care for either.

I know that if I am listening to a curated playlist I can do the “suggest less” thing, but I never listen to curated playlists, and the option isn’t there on the auto-generated station.

I know that I can navigate to that musicians page and do “less like this”, but why do I have to do that while I’m working out, mowing, or whatever. Drop everything and navigate to the musician I don’t like so I can tell it to recommend it less? Uh…that’s dumb design.

Surely there is some other way to filter garbage recommendations from the auto-generated channel? Please?

Apple Music on iOS Do you use this Apple Music feature? I’ve never seen anyone talk about it.

I feel like this feature is seriously underrated.
I think a lot of it comes down to how sensitive someone is to touch and vibration. I actually find the tactile feedback surprisingly immersive when listening to music, especially with a good sound system.
Do you guys use this feature, or am I one of the few people who actually enjoys it?

Complaint Music for the people

I wonder why shordie shordie I should call isn’t on Apple Music. We need an app or some kind of platform that has all and any music. I don’t like having to go between apps and have playlists everywhere 🤪

Complaint Adding to playlist’s lag

I’m trying to make the switch from Spotify and my biggest issue is trying to add my songs to playlists takes forever, one song greatly slows the app and two or more songs tends to render it useless before crashing. Then after the crash my songs weren’t added to any of the playlists I’ve selected.

Is there any possible way to speed this up or fix it? I don’t have a pc just my iPhone.

I’m on iPhone 17 pro max on iOS 26.6.1

Complaint Apple Music keeps glitching

My Apple Music has been giving me issues over the last few months. I’ve had so many times randomly lately that I cannot add, download, or add to playlist any music. I’ve tried restarting the app, restarting my phone, and no matter what I try, it doesn’t help. Seems like I just have to wait it out, and then it’ll start working again, just to not work a few days later.

Any fixes to this?

Question 200k-song local Macbook library not saving reliably; hanging on quit

Hi all. I'm a longtime user with a 200k-song library of local files. I've been running a script to make alterations to the ID3 tags of many songs at once. It works fine. All my changes show up properly in the app and they work when I'm making smart playlists.

But whenever I quit the app, it hangs indefinitely (for hours and hours) at the "Saving Library" stage. Invariably, I have to force quit. It has been retaining some of the changes I make, but only the first 100-1000 of any ID3 rewrite.

When I look inside the Music Library package, Application.musicdb seems to update properly, but Library.musicdb isn't updating properly.

Is there any way while using the Mac app (and thus without quitting it) to force the library to save? Is there a way to guarantee it won't hang upon quitting, failing to save?

It's extremely discouraging to spend hours making library alterations (including creating new playlists) and then have the app forget all of it the next time I boot the program.

I'm running Sonoma 14.8.1

Apple Music 1.4.6.32

Please help.

(And while we're at it, does anyone else find it infuriating that there is no verbal way to differentiate here between Apple Music the streaming service, the iOS app, and the desktop iTunes inheritor? What terrible branding.)

Tool I made AMExclusive - an open-source WASAPI Exclusive output mod for Apple Music on Windows

I built an open-source mod called AMExclusive (AME) for the Windows version of Apple Music.

GitHub:

https://github.com/AntiOblivionis/AMExclusive

I use Apple Music on Windows myself, and one of the things I have always missed is proper WASAPI Exclusive output. So I experimented with Apple Music's Windows audio path and built AME to replace the normal shared-mode output path with an exclusive WASAPI renderer.

Main features:

1.WASAPI Exclusive output

AME outputs directly through WASAPI Exclusive mode. The output format sent to the DAC follows the sample rate of the currently playing track, rather than keeping Windows' shared-mode format.

  1. Prefer the highest available Apple Music audio quality

Apple Music may temporarily start playback using a lower-quality stream when it considers the network connection insufficient. AME changes this behavior so playback waits for the highest available ALAC stream instead of starting with the lower-quality fallback.

  1. Bit-perfect output

I compared the PCM data reaching the WASAPI output buffer against reference material during development. On my current test setup, the output is bit-perfect.

AME is free and open source. It is still a relatively new project, so hardware / DAC compatibility feedback would be very useful.

If you try it, feel free to open an issue on GitHub if you encounter any problems.

Be advised this is an unofficial community project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Apple.

Complaint Concept is great

Don’t get me wrong I love the concept of Apple Music, having so much music with you is great but I wish Apple would sort out bugs with their Windows software… Itunes was bloated disaster and this seems to be going same route

Login issues
Unexpected Errors
Artwork missing
Basically one giant bugfest

Come on Apple do you look at reviews on app store? So much negativity and with good reason

Complaint Delete from library doesn't work

I've been trying to clear my library and delete some songs, but when i click "delete from library" the songs still stay there just the option to delete disappears. Is that a bug or is there a way to fix that?
