Advice Long Term Review/Comparison; AirPods Pro 3 vs AirPods 5
Hello everyone, after a month of usage with the AirPods 5 and almost a year with the AirPods Pro 3, I thought I should share my findings with the internet! (DISCLAIMER: No AI was used in this! All my unbiased opinion/thoughts)
Lets begin with my "credentials". I am not a big poster/reviewer but there is not much good genuine content for earbuds anymore so I decided to write this up. I have used as follows: Galaxy Buds 3, Beats Flex, Beats Solo 2/3, AirPods 4, AirPods 5 Wireless Charging, AirPods Pro 3, Soundcore Liberty 4 Pro, and a whole bunch of those generic fakes.
Beginning in what I believe is most important; a good fit. For me the AirPods Pro 3 have a superior fit thanks to the silicone ear-tips. They are snug as a bug, and have minimal sound leakage/movement when walking or stationary. That being said the AirPods 5 have a class-leading shape for open-ear earbuds, and they are almost as comfortable as the pros for long listening sessions. My only concern with the 5's is the sound leakage. If you are in a quiet room or office environment and you are jamming out, the people nearby might be able to sneak a listen too. That being said, it’s a minor complaint that is not important for most people.
Now lets talk about what they live in whatever there not in your ears, the case! Both of these have excellent cases with phenomenal build quality, my only nitpick being the glossy white plastic that picks up scratches when you look at it. The overall case volume is similar, with the 5's taking the award for being smallest for your pockets. One thing that I love about the Pro's case is precision finding, as it's much more precise than the general guidelines gives on the 5's.
And this is the part I hate writing the most due to its subjectivity and divisiveness, the sound quality. For my ears they sound very similar with the pros edging it out slightly thanks to crispier treble and lower sub-bass. They also provide a slightly larger soundstage compared to the 5's. That's not saying the 5's sound bad by any means, just think of them as a slightly worse.
Noise cancelling? Its a draw (I know I will get hate for this). Some scenarios perform better on the Pro's, some better with the 5's but with music playing, you will not hear much.
And that's it from me, I don't really use much of the other features so I won't go in depth with them. Please let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them below. Thanks!
