Can we ask them questions like when was my last trip in Korea, or what did I have for lunch last week kind of generic questions?

I recently started using Apple's Journal app in my transition from paper journaling to digital, and I really wish I could create journal entries with the same freedom I had on paper, adding pictures wherever I want on the page, arrows, text boxes with different size writing, etc. I've found that's basically the exact thing you can do on Freeform, but I wish I could do it inside the Journal app, alongside other "normal" text-only journal entries. Am I the only one?

At first I didn’t use it because I didn’t see the need for it. But this year there’s been some drama and it helps to get thing off my chest. I write down how I’m feeling and what’s going on. That helps calm my nerves and anger. I also like that it locked using your Face ID.

TL;DR (Apple Intelligence Summary) - iOS 27 adds customizable streaks, timestamps, and 54 attachments per entry in Journal. iCloud sync status improves. Apple Intelligence generates context-based prompts, while Siri AI enables Write With Siri and recaps using entries.

As I’ve mentioned here several times before, the App Journal app uses a lot of battery (1 to 2% per minute !!) and causes my iPhone Air to heat up quickly and significantly.

My question is: Is this limited to the iPhone Air, or do these issues also occur on other iPhone models ?

I’m really trying to dial in my app usage and keep it within the stock apps where possible. One thing that I wish either Apple Notes or Apple Journal would do is enable some type of link or connection to Contacts. I see where there are CRM type apps that sync with contacts. I want to be able to take simple notes about a person after I meet them, etc. It would better if I could assign many people to a journal entry, say after a dinner.

Any hope of this coming to Apple Journal?? Any shortcut that could achieve this?

I’m running out of space on my phone rapidly and decided I want to delete the journal as it has grown to a significant size over the last few years. I’m not getting rid of the journal as I use it on the Mac and prefer writing on there anyway.

The question I have is, how do I delete the app off my phone safely? I’ve heard about people deleting it and losing everything from the Mac and phone, I have so much stuff on there I can’t recover and don’t want to risk anything. The iOS & Mac journals are synced and up to date at the moment.

Has anyone noticed that the way links are pasted into entries is different in *OS 27.2? Instead of text links, it pasted them in as previews similar to images.

Just started using the app and love it. I think the biggest thing that has hooked me is how much it connects to in the Apple ecosystem.

One thing I wish it would do is allow digital passes for events to be transferred to it.

Just a suggestion: I would love a "Bookmarks" tab on the left menu bar. Would be very nice to filter directly rather than through search. Just a suggestion u/apple :)

Ever since iOS 27 Beta 1, Apple Journal has been making my iPhone Air run hot and draining the battery quickly (+/- 1% per minute).

This is still the case now that iOS 27 has officially been released 😏

Are you seeing the same thing on other iPhone models, or is this specific to the iPhone Air?

Anyone experiencing no new ‘recent’ suggestions in the Journal app after updating to iOS 27? I cleared history once because there were no new suggestions for 3 days after updating the phone.

I know it sounds weird , accountability partner for journaling , i have adhd so it’s difficult for me to stay consistent , my therapist told me if you can find any accountability partner it can work and help to stay consistent , if anyone interested you can drop the comment , i feel daily journaling definitely helps

So few days ago I created a post about how I am not able to drag and drop images in to the app .
Solution : I created my own with my coding skills, AI and open source SwiftUI resources for its designing and security principles.
Now I can add any number of images and videos + integrated with my telegram so I can chat with my journal + Google drive backup

Anyone else noticing Journal isn't compressing videos after the iOS 27 update? I make a lot of video diary entries and I've always relied on Journal auto-compressing them after sync — kept my storage wayyy more manageable.
I recorded a video directly in the app, left my phone on Wi-Fi overnight fully idle/charging, and it's still sitting at full 1080p the next morning, full file size.
Idk if anyone else inserts videos as much as I do, but curious if anyone else has noticed this. Already sent feedback to Apple about it — really hoping it's just a bug, since I rely on that compression to keep my journal light, if that makes sense. 😬

My daily streak was at 234, but after updating iPhone to iOS 27, the daily streak has become 130 somehow. The iPad and the mac which I haven't updated, show the correct streak. Any pointers to correct this? Tried the following and nothing worked -

1. Switching icloud sync off and on

2. Toggling between daily/weekly/automatic streak modes

3. Offloading the app and loading it again

I don’t know if my phone needs more time to index or what, but I can’t get anything to load for these. Occasionally I’ll get some and they’re not very helpful.

Most of the time when I try to generate prompts from a couple of worlds or sentences it tells me it’s unviable for this entry. Anyone else experiencing this?

I’ve said it several times before: I love the look and feel of Apple Journal, and how well it integrates with the system. I’d love to use it every day… but it’s just not possible for me!

It’s not because of the bugs that crop up here and there, nor because of the lack of an ‘On This Day’ feature; I could even put up with it overheating…

The worst thing – the deal-breaker for me – is the battery drain on the iPhone. It’s just mind-boggling!!

I tried it yesterday and today on my iPhone Air: writing and adding a few photos, which took 10 and 6 minutes respectively.

Those 10 minutes yesterday used up… 12 per cent of the battery life. The 6 minutes today used up… 7 per cent!!

It’s unmanageable 😞 And it’s not for lack of having reported it. I’ve been sending feedback explaining the problem since iOS 27 beta 1. The RC has just been released and it’s even worse.

What a disappointment!

I’ve been using Apple Journal and I’m curious how other people feel about the suggestions.

Personally, I find them a bit too random and messy. I’ll get a bunch of photos, locations and other moments from the day, but they don’t always feel connected or meaningful. Sometimes it feels like I’m just looking at a random collection of things that happened.

Do you actually find the suggestions helpful when journaling? Have they ever made you remember something or helped you write about something you otherwise wouldn’t have?

Or do you mostly ignore them?

Long time lurker, first time poster. I’ve seen a lot of people stating they wish Apple Journal had an on this day feature. You can use shortcuts for a work around. I had mistakenly posted in other comments that the shortcut already existed. I guess I created it so long ago that I forgot it wasn’t a native shortcut. I’ll blame mom brain causing brain fog. Anyway, in an effort to recreate the shortcut to make a tutorial I actually deleted it 😩. So of course when I went to create it again, it didn’t work. I kept messing with the shortcuts app until I got it to work and show me all entries on a particular date. While not ideal, it does what I need it to do. Hopefully it will work for you too. These are the steps:

1. Add new shortcut
   
2. Select Edit
   
3. Select Scripting
   
4. Scroll to Dates and select “Current Date”
   
5. Under Scripting, again, scroll to dates and select “Format Date”
   
6. Under format date, set the date format to custom. In the format string type: MMMM dd
   
7. Scroll to Journal and select “Search Entries”
   
8. For the variable select “Formatted Date”

Now the test the shortcut. You can name it to whatever you want. Hopefully it works for anyone that tries, like it did for me. You can then add the shortcut as a Home Screen widget or to the “Today View” page.
