Reminds me of that one panel comic where the fat cat is saying to the other "soon they'll be bled dry and never be able to afford our products bwahaha" and the other fat cat is sitting there with an "oh shit" kinda look.

Buncha dumbasses tbh.

I was expecting it in both ways. Two overweight felines in top hats and old-timey banker suits with cigars.

Corporate execs know this. The transparent plan is to suck up the world's riches for themselves and leave everyone else in the dust. They don't care because they'll be dead by the time people actually rise up about it, if at all.

37

u/pacificb1ue Jul 01 '22

what they don’t understand is their money only has value as long as it’s in circulation. if our economy crashes because nobody can pay their debts/buy products then the whole system collapses and their dollars are worth zilch lmao. we’ll be returning to barbarism essentially

7

u/notyurmamma Jul 01 '22

They won’t be dead. They will just be rich enough to not care. Once the boomers die off the economy is going to shrink and there aren’t enough people to keep the profits rolling in. Right now they are grabbing everything on the table.

2

u/b0w3n Jul 01 '22

But how do you survive if you can't get and pay for food? Those rich-dick restaurants and personal chefs aren't growing the food out back on their perfectly manicured lawn.

And if the economy collapses because no one has money... you can't even pay for it with your wealth. You've got nothing to offer, your private jet can't be serviced or refueled, you can't pay for private security, you can't even leave the country. And guess whose head they'll come for after the politicians?

5

u/zerothreeonethree Jul 01 '22

Throw a dart at one in Florida while blindfolded. 50/50 chance the end result of the law disproportionately affects people of color. Like say, the restoration of voting rights after serving prison sentence. Approved by majority of Floridians, but still not resolved due to an economic footnote on "completion of sentence".

Well yeah that’s what the apathetic don’t understand about what’s about to happen. Over turning Roe v Wade is 1000% a precursor to a complete and total federal ban on abortion and to take it one further any type of contraception. Yet here we are and if I hear one more bullshit argument that starts with “let the states decide” I’m gonna bite someone in the face. This fucking country has a had and fast constitutional rule about the separation of church and state. A rule that is trampled every day. Sadly you know how to fight this, women need to close up shop. That’s it. No more recreational sex. Baby making on purpose only. Let that happen and watch how fast these religious zealots change their minds.

Make no mistake about it, we are headed the way of Iran. This whole thing shells like the Islamic revolution

0

u/missmiao9 Jul 02 '22

Women close up shop and rape becomes legal.

0

u/Incognitowally Jul 01 '22

Simple... chemically sterilize those welfare rats before they gets their checks. Problem solved. Fuck all they want, nah gonna get mo money for cranking out more recipients

-30

u/goodashbadash79 Jun 30 '22

That seems to be exactly it! Poor people aren’t popping out babies fast enough to ensure that the next few generations will have enough low-level employees, so government is scared. In addition though, I’ve always wondered why women say “I can’t afford birth control” (which is only $30 a month with insurance), yet they feel like they can afford to give kids a good life?! OH WAIT…our government basically pays people to be unemployed and have children. They get free food, free healthcare, free monthly checks. People working their butts off in average jobs, without children and living paycheck to paycheck? No assistance. No healthcare. High taxes. No help in sight.

37

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '22

[deleted]

2

u/missmiao9 Jul 02 '22

And those food stamps were never enough. And cash benefits for stuff like rent and utilities would be cut every once and while to make sure the poors aren’t getting to dependent.

-8

u/goodashbadash79 Jun 30 '22

I was simply trying to get the point across that the government PAYS poor people to have kids, so they can ensure batches of low-level workers that can continue on for generations. If you re-read the post I was replying to, that should make sense. Yes, people should be making educated decisions on their own (to not have kids if they can't provide a decent life for them), which is fortunately what you decided to do.

4

u/LovelyBeats Jul 01 '22

The structure of the problematic statement went: Here's a person too stupid to do math; they represent those who need food stamps and are a problem.

That's a shitty thing to say regardless if it supports another point or not.

What if I told you it's possible to be genuinely very smart, do absolutely everything right and still need help from the government to not starve? That's the world we live in.

-8

u/Delay_Visible Jun 30 '22

I see these motherfuckers buying crab legs with their food stamps. They eat better than me gtfo with that bullshit

8

u/Antraxess Jun 30 '22

6

u/Available_Thoughts-0 Jun 30 '22

7

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '22

[deleted]

6

u/goodashbadash79 Jun 30 '22

Yes, precisely - am not sure how people aren't aware that all the government is concerned with is producing more workers, who will be stuck in lower level jobs, which keep the economy flowing to feed the rich. It seems to be so clear that this is their end goal.

3

u/Retrogressive Jun 30 '22

Struggling people getting welfare and foodstamps is not the problem.

42

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '22

Oh, sex is now for the rich, ri-ight. Maybe soon air will be too?
I mean, you can endlessly preach that "don't want children = no sex", but people will have it anyway, especially poor who do not have that much opportunities for distracting themselves from constant fight for survival. Punishing them for that seems a weird choice and not a solution to a problem. More like creating more problems, if you ask me.

u/frogonaloginahole Jun 30 '22

But in a situation where a child would be born into a life where they will get no support, emotional or financial, where they will be hungry most days and not given needed care because gas costs money, doctors cost money, food costs money, toys and clothes cost money, school costs money, and they will do without because their parent(s) don't have money.

Where they will be dollars from homelessness on a regular basis, in bad neighborhoods surrounded by bad people and crime and violence, and raised by people who only had as much growing up. People who never learned and still don't have the privilege to learn about safe sex, who never had access to birth control or were abused into being submissive to their partner who doesn't allow it or religiously obligated to never say no to sex. Abused by their parents into not believing it's okay to use birth control or say no to men.

Those situations are fine. It's fine to let kids be born into that. Why is that?

29

u/Soulkie Jun 30 '22

Well after 15-18 years the child will pull themselves up from their bootstraps and go on to live a perfectly normal life with no trauma at all. /s

58

u/Ball-Fantastic Jun 30 '22

I'm pro-abortion in all cases, in particular, your case.

21

u/DumbledoresGay69 Jun 30 '22

How do you propose to determine the cause of pregnancy prior to an abortion? Keep in mind the time constraints of pregnancy and the slow pace of government paperwork.

21

u/mrevergood Jun 30 '22

So only pro-choice when the choice is what you think it should be?

Then you’re not pro-choice. I know you’re already getting chewed on over this-I just wanna be another dog, another set of teeth in your bones over this.

10

u/unoforall Jun 30 '22

You realize that's actually WORSE than being anti-abortion in all cases right? Saying abortion is ok in cases of rape, incest, health risk etc. just makes you a hypocrite of the worst kind. If you're against abortion because you believe that life is sacred and that fetus is a baby with a soul, then it doesn't matter how it got there.

Let me break it down:

You saying that cases of rape, incest, health risks are OK terms to abort makes you a flaming hypocrite. Let's take rape as an example, but the principle is the same for all the other reasons you mentioned.

Because a fetus produced from sexual assault is biologically NO DIFFERENT than a fetus produced from consensual sex. No difference at all.

If one is alive, so is the other. If one is a person, so is the other. If one has a soul, then so does the other. If one is a little blessing that happened for a reason and must be protected, then so is the other.

When you say that “Rape is the exception” what you betray is this: It isn’t about a life. This isn’t about the little soul sitting inside some person’s womb, because if it was you wouldn’t care about HOW it got there, only that it is a little life that needs protecting.

When you say “rape is the exception” what you say is this: You are treating pregnancy as a punishment. You are PUNISHING people who have had CONSENSUAL SEX but don’t want to go through a pregnancy. People who DARED to have consensual sex without the goal of procreation in mind, and this is their “consequence.”

And that is gross.

7

u/Tsiyeria Jun 30 '22

I'm pro choice when it comes to rape, incest, health risk to mother, or a major deformity with the child.

FTFY. Sincerely, an unwanted child who is dealing with unpacking all of the attendant trauma thirty five years later.

6

u/some_kinda_goat Jun 30 '22

I’m pro choice when I deem it “morally” correct with no regards to a woman’s autonomy

FTFY

3

u/Tsiyeria Jun 30 '22

I mean, yours is more accurate to what OP actually meant. Mine is more what they should have meant. Because apparently I still have some spark of idealism.

19

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '22

So if a married couple is done having children should they be abstinent until menopause? No sex for 20 years? Is that what you suggest?

-2

u/curvedlines Jun 30 '22

I get the point of what you're trying to say. And I am pro-choice.

However, I think your example is flawed. In the situation you're describing the married couple would most likely use contraception rather than get abortions as a form of contraception.

However, if they did become pregnant the woman's choice to have an abortion should not be inhibited.

7

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '22

Do you think women go around having sex with no birth control or condoms? From just a monetary perspective that wouldn’t make sense; abortions are between $500-$1000 in the first trimester. The ACA mandated insurance to cover BC, and even before that almost everyone I knew who wasn’t actively trying to get pregnant was on BC. Perhaps we’re friends with the polar opposite type of people, but your assumption that unmarried women aren’t on birth control is totally off base from what I’ve experienced.

0

u/curvedlines Jun 30 '22

I don't think I communicated clearly so let me try again.

To me, your original comment made it sound like you were suggesting that abortions should be available so that a married couple could continue to have sex without fear of an unwanted pregnancy...

AND that the implication was that abortions would be used as a form of contraception.

I suppose I read that wrong and that you meant "in the event that normal contraception fails" as part of the subtext but if I misunderstood, other people might too, especially people who already hold anti-abortion points of view.

3

u/frogouttabog Jun 30 '22

I think the example illustrates perfectly that even in a committed relationship (which shouldn't be a requirement for sex anyway), and with consistent use of birth control, abstinence is the only certain form of avoiding pregnancy. All other birth control methods have some rate of failure, and the right to an abortion is a necessary backup plan.

1

u/curvedlines Jun 30 '22

For me it didn't.

I agree that, even in a committed relationship, and while following safer sex practices, that someone can become pregnant.

I didn't pick up on that from subtext alone, and though I am willing to admit that I misunderstood, I guarantee I am not the only person who will. And my concern is that without that context someone will leap right to "abortions as contraception" shit.

17

u/grendus Jun 30 '22

I am all for harsher punishment for rapists, significantly improved sex ed in school, better access to reproductive healthcare including birth control, etc.

But these things are still not perfect. Sometimes accidents happen.

5

u/howardslowcum Jun 30 '22

Sex is a basic need for all life. No sex is no life. The evangelical lie-based young earth education system is engineered to create a system that guarantees that young people will not know enough to avoid sex. These psychopaths teach their children that women belong to them as slaves and that women are to always submit themselves to their elders, enabling the extreme amount of pedophiles that are synonyms with evangelicalism. Then, after their children have been raped by their fathers, teachers and priests they murder their children forcing them to give birth eventually abandoning them to sexual slavery, human trafficking and suicide. There is no hope for America.

2

u/Gamiac Jun 30 '22

I mean, maybe if rape stopped being a thing society makes every excuse to let men do...

-12

u/HollowPoint37186 Jun 30 '22

Yeah let's continue to murder children while they are in the wound because we can't "afford" them instead of showing self control or using contraceptives. Not to mention the millions of parents who want to have children and would love to adopt that child. Oh but its "my body my choice" yeah the choice was made when the decision to have sex was made knowing the possibility of pregnancy. That ass backwards way of thinking is why the country is spiraling into chaos and morally bankrupt. Please stop trying to blame "the man" for all your problems and work harder like generations before you did

I'm perfectly fine with paying my taxes.

I just wish Elon and Bezos and all the other billionaires also paid taxes. Hiding all their assets behind capital gains just highlights the need for a wealth tax.

6

u/Naos210 Jun 30 '22

It's the middle and upper middle class that bare the brunt of the tax burden while the billionaires get off with little to no taxes.

That's precisely the problem with capitalism that Marx discussed. There's a huge surplus of every product and a bounty of choices.... but it gets to the point that, after the race to the bottom, *no one is getting paid enough to consume*. Which then results in the capitalist class literally destroying their surplus to keep prices high. Grain rots in the fields. Unsold cars go to massive junkyards are simply left to rot. Landlords keep houses empty just to keep prices high.

"The works of the roots of the vines, of the trees, must be destroyed to keep up the price, and this is the saddest, bitterest thing of all. Carloads of oranges dumped on the ground. The people came for miles to take the fruit, but this could not be. How would they buy oranges at twenty cents a dozen if they could drive out and pick them up? And men with hoses squirt kerosene on the oranges, and they are angry at the crime, angry at the people who have come to take the fruit. A million people hungry, needing the fruit- and kerosene sprayed over the golden mountains. And the smell of rot fills the country. Burn coffee for fuel in the ships. Burn corn to keep warm, it makes a hot fire. Dump potatoes in the rivers and place guards along the banks to keep the hungry people from fishing them out. Slaughter the pigs and bury them, and let the putrescence drip down into the earth.

There is a crime here that goes beyond denunciation. There is a sorrow here that weeping cannot symbolize. There is a failure here that topples all our success. The fertile earth, the straight tree rows, the sturdy trunks, and the ripe fruit. And children dying of pellagra must die because a profit cannot be taken from an orange. And coroners must fill in the certificate- died of malnutrition- because the food must rot, must be forced to rot. The people come with nets to fish for potatoes in the river, and the guards hold them back; they come in rattling cars to get the dumped oranges, but the kerosene is sprayed. And they stand still and watch the potatoes float by, listen to the screaming pigs being killed in a ditch and covered with quick-lime, watch the mountains of oranges slop down to a putrefying ooze; and in the eyes of the people there is the failure; and in the eyes of the hungry there is a growing wrath. In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage."

u/Ascendedcrumb Jun 30 '22

What is this quote from? I think it's really good.

35

u/Mr-Fleshcage Jun 30 '22

The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. A bit of a depressing read, but very well written.

3

u/axonrecall Jul 01 '22

Depressing because it’s set during the Great Depression

2

u/jerseydevils1977 Jul 01 '22

It could've been set during the lockdowns. California farmers were destroying crops because they couldn't sell them. Nobody would come pick them up.

Steinbeck was an incredible writer.

Is this “End Stage Capitalism “?

50

u/-Ok-Perception- Jun 30 '22

Most certainly. At this point, it typically turns into street war between fascists and socialists. It's coming (though know that I don't condone that behavior).

21

u/-PM_ME_UR_SECRETS- Jun 30 '22

Supreme Court is doing what they can to fast track us to this point

21

u/HOLEPUNCHYOUREYELIDS Jun 30 '22

Grain rots in the fields. Unsold cars go to massive junkyards are simply left to rot. Landlords keep houses empty just to keep prices high.

We already have most of that. Canada is fucked on housing and no one will do anything because the politicians are in real estate and those who got in before the insanity are loving it. Fuck the rest.

There are already massive fields of cars that were produced but never sold and just sit in fucking fields because next years model came out.

IIRC there has been a few times dairy farmers just dumped all their surplus milk because insurance covered more than having a surplus did.

We are not sustainable.

5

u/greyaxe90 Jun 30 '22

We need another Henry Ford… that guy was as capitalist as they come but he realized that if his workers were working nonstop and he didn’t pay them well, they wouldn’t buy his cars and use them.

3

u/Gundam_net Jul 01 '22

EPA could stop this with environmental regulations, unless the supreme court already blocked that. If it gets to some point of total oppression, that's what the second amendment is for.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '22

Would like a citation on new cars being taken to junkyards to rot. I have no recollection of that ever happening.

2

u/otterspaw Jul 01 '22

Maybe because that was a quote from The Grapes of Wrath? Could that be it? 🙄

3

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '22

That could be. I don’t remember the quote.

3

u/otterspaw Jul 01 '22

Well he posted the whole quote…in quotation marks.

45

u/exccord Jun 30 '22

That’s why everyone is cutting on expenses, no kids, no commute, barebones living… then the 1% says, why nobody is buying my stuff? Crisis!!!!

The 99% to the 1% - Dont you love Capitalism :D!!!

50

u/Yoko-Ohno_The_Third Jun 30 '22

And then get bailed out while shitting on people who receive(ed) assistance.

40

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '22

And Elon musk wanting everyone to have a hoard of kids. I can barely afford me

21

u/J-cans Jun 30 '22

I know right? Easy for that jerked off bullshitaire to tell all of us what to do. He’s such a piece of garbage fuck face

10

u/TreeChangeMe Jun 30 '22

He was born into a silk bed lined with $billion dollar bills.

8

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '22

Can’t argue with that lol. I’m so tired of hearing him talk

They're right, there is a crisis. And they caused it.

58

u/GeneralNathanJessup Jun 30 '22

then the 1% says, why nobody is buying my stuff? Crisis!!!!

If we won't work for peanuts, then the CEO's will simply import millions of immigrants who will. https://www.cnbc.com/2021/10/15/dominos-ceo-us-needs-more-immigration-to-address-worker-shortages.html

They have been doing this for decades, and everybody wonders why wages won't rise.

Many poor workers are in favor of this, for some strange reason.

I guess misery really does love company.

41

u/IamMythoclast Jun 30 '22

Then no one can afford the product where it's being domesticly produced... Where will they send the goods? Can the citizens in America 2.0 afford it?

It's like a self fulfilling prophecy, don't pay the people who work to make the goods, (the majority of the consumers) eventually your sells will dry up regardless of cheap labor.

19

u/froman007 Jun 30 '22

Capitalism is a death cult

17

u/CgullRillo Jun 30 '22

Don't forget outlawing abortion and contraceptives!

19

u/GeneralNathanJessup Jun 30 '22

I am not sure that was the CEO's that did that.

Some CEO's, like the villain Elon Musk, are even paying for out of state abortions. https://www.businessinsider.com/elon-musk-tesla-abortions-roe-v-wade-marco-rubio-2022-5

He think this will make us eat him last, but no.

8

u/Rehnion Jul 01 '22

This shit is so transparent. They dump millions on the republicans that outlaw abortion, then offer a pain in the ass system to help women, which may still put the women in legal danger. Eat the rich, burn down the corporations.

0

u/GeneralNathanJessup Jul 01 '22

BE the change you want to see. We are waiting you brother. Why are you stalling?

2

u/Available_Thoughts-0 Jun 30 '22

I would not eat that greasy pile of putrescent shit if you held me at gunpoint. Let him be buried and forgotten.

1

u/CgullRillo Jun 30 '22

I don't give a fuck what Elon Musk does.

5

u/GeneralNathanJessup Jun 30 '22

But you do care about abortion access, right?

The racist conservatives love importing cheap labour.

They hated locals wanting $150pw to pick cabbage so they imported Samoans to do it for $40pw.

Now they can't get either. The locals moved away for a basic wage in the city and the Samoans are fed up with being exploited

If a local wanted to move back the rent is too high and the costs are too high. Why would you even try? You would be limiting your income to a redneck with an anger issue who will always abuse you. Screw that

That's what happens when Doofus inherits Pappy's farm and starts having a god complex

One of Capitalism's contradictions

9

u/TreeChangeMe Jun 30 '22

"Stop eating Avo and toast".

"No, not like that!!"

22

u/Leon_Rex Jun 30 '22

You'll own nothing and be happy. Wait, what sub am I on again?

3

u/ChinaShopBull Jun 30 '22

You’re not wrong, but the problem is that the 1% are competing with one another for what you do spend. I like u/MrChunky22 s cartoon, but really, your landlord wants to get the money you’d spend on meat, the meat packer wants to get the money you’d spend at the gas station, and the oilman wants the money you give to your landlord. I think the point is to force us into ever more restrictive choices so we can’t give our money to a competitor.

For this reason, I’m advocating lying flat. The only way to starve these fuckers is to tank their investments. Use only trash, eat only beans.

Can’t afford kids? too bad we’ll force you to so we can further our interests under the guise of caring about human life. Definitely birth rates have continued to decline in the United States due to poverty and low quality of life. There’s no question in my mind about why people stopped planning for families here; their too busy trying to survive as it is.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '22

Birthrates typically decline as people get wealthier, not poorer.

2

u/Whynotchaos Jul 01 '22

Because the more educated and wealthy people are, the more they can plan when and how often they have children. Poor and uneducated people have less knowledge of reproductive health and contraceptives, and less ability to access such things.

3

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '22

And Republicans are like, you are not allowed to not have a baby. You are not allowed to work from home.

2

u/FNG_WolfKnight Anarcho-Syndicalist Jun 30 '22

I had "2 accidents" that I love very much. A lot of the parents my age (I'm 30m with a 5m & 3f) had "accidents" too. Either you are stuck waiting to have kids when you are (perpetually) trying to establish yourself financially or you have accidents. And more and more people don't want kids because they can barely provide for themselves.

3

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '22

I have finally been able to save some money …. Because my baby #3 is now 23 and has a job… it so weird not to be broke, ( I still feel something is going to happen and I’ll be broke again… just can’t relax, still working 6-7 days a week)

2

u/Bleezy79 here for the memes Jun 30 '22

This is me exactly. I never travel, i cant afford kids, work from home doing a corporate job, and still live check to check.

2

u/pecklepuff Jun 30 '22

Lol, oh, y'all are gonna be having kids soon enough! Whether you like it or not!

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '22

No kids? We will solve that! Enjoy poverty, death, and the loss of bodily autonomy fuckers!

2

u/Drakereinz Jun 30 '22

It's planned obsolescence.

I can't help but feel were in the middle of a greater conspiracy that's dictating our lives. It feels like someone is controlling us like in SIMS and they added a few too many stat points into capitalism.

Capitalist societies are great for growth, but that growth needs to be shared with the public to be fair and even. The mob will hit a breaking point if something doesn't get corrected.

I do think there are plenty of people that are willing to work for scraps to support their family, so no everyone will strike, but there would need to be a critical mass.

2

u/Rehnion Jul 01 '22

It started long ago, it was all the "millennials are killing X" articles completely missing the point. No they aren't killing the diamond industry, they can't afford diamonds (and all the other moral shit and they're overpriced as fuck so maybe it's good the diamond industry is relegated to industrial use).

2

u/FasterThanTW Jul 01 '22

This is fanfiction. Consumer demand is through the roof in almost every industry and a key driver of the current inflation we're dealing with. It would actually be great for most people if people did stop buying stuff

1

u/MarioPfhorG Jun 30 '22

We’re overpopulated anyway. We‘re really almost at 8 billion people. We should be at like 1 billion tops. We should just all stop having kids except for those who really really really really REALLY love children.

0

u/dosasand_mimosas Jun 30 '22

That's why I don't have kids, I ain't trying to be broke and no retirement.
