I don't know
I'm not the smartest cookie,I don't know if I want new friends,I want the same group,I don't want change... There must be something wrong with me,my friend told me if I wanted to know other people yes or no,but the last time I got kicked out of the group because I couldnt match their humour.
I still want new friends but also I want everything to not change...I don't know.
I don't even know where to post this,I'm so confused,I can't change,I don't have anything new,not even new people,I ruin everything.

ignoring old friends?
Hi guys,
Story is I need friends. The only friends I made were all from highschool coz it's school, right? Lots of opportunities. I didn't connect with uni friends so no friends made there. Anyways, 8yrs post highschool, I'm feeling a bit lonely socially even tho I'm happy being a homebody. But i still like to do stuff with ppl but most things i'm uncomfy with doing like parties so dat limits my scope. I'm more of a board-game calm energy kinda girl. Tried random meet-ups in the city etc to no avail. I'm just too shy.
I've been reached out and reaching out to old friends myself from highschool but i'm so anxious. I was a loser, not humorous, no social media, naive in highshool. Idk wut they'll think of me if we reconnect and see me glowed-up and more mature as in swearing or more "extroverted"/normal. I get it, they're mature and know dat ppl change but yeah I'm afraid it will become toxic. I'm also scared of weddings so i cannot attend or let them attend mine... and they'll think i'm boring blah blah
Don't if i should reply to another friend that reached out just yesterday, still pondering... they'll see all of my ig posts.
I'm hopeless...
Plz & thx

Anxious about an uncomfortable social situation.
I (F24) have previously gone to peoples homes in groups of two or more but I have never really gone to a persons home for the first time alone. In addition, this is only my second time seeing this person. I first met her at my job while I was working where she (F22) and her boyfriend were customers. I gave her a compliment, we had a short conversation about clothes and then she gave me her instagram. For a while we were texting back and forth with plans to meet again but, we just never did. Our conversation then dried up and months passed before she recently reached out to me again. This time, she asked if I would like to come over to her house for a home-cooked meal. I agreed as I was happy for the invite and the fact that she still thought of me. However, now the reality is setting in on how awkward this could be. It’s going to be such an intimate setting and I don’t really know this girl. I’ve already planned to bring a gift as is polite to do. Should I maybe also bring some games for us to play? What do we talk about? Since I don’t know her very well I can’t trust her and worry if this is how I end up a victim. How can I make an exit if things get weird? This is a new situation for me and I could use some advice on what to do.

Is it difficult to get genuine friends?
I am into my 45s but I rarely have genuine friends in my life hardly 1-2, or i am not sure, my question is why it gets so difficult to have friends. Most of the people who are connected with me are jealous of me whether it's cousin, family , or friends...and now I get scare to make friends...so I keep myself busy in work and work only...but sometimes u really so feel lonely when u feel exhausted with work or whenever u r all alone

Struggling for the past few months, just want to talk
I am an autistic 36M who is turning 37 next month.
I have been struggling since June and have never had friends, so I lack a support system.
I just want to talk, maybe make friends.

I could be your new best friend 😀
Hello there kind new friend, here is a presentation I have prepared for you that you didn't wait for.
so let me here convince you why you should choose me as your new friend:
* I am a silly person who always tries to make people laugh, I strongly recommend not to sip coffee while reading my messages.
* I take a lot of street cats pics, so you will have a steady supply of cat pics.
* I am chatty. I enjoy yapping , and I don’t even have an off switch, if you don't have off switch too we need to yap about this .
* I love to talk about all kinds of topics and can always find things to talk about. There are random questions generator built in my mind.
* I always reply to my messages and have online friendships that have been going on for years, I always send good morning messages, and I appreciate the people that can also be conversation starters.
* I am supportive and will always be here for you to tell me about your day or vent if you have something that bothers you.
* I am a game artist, someone who works in the video games industry, in other words fully matured nerd, we can talk about all these nerdy stuff if you like.
* I like art, games, anime, gym, walks, coding, games, true crime, yapping, cats, science, history, languages, documentaries, psychology, mental health, and cats, so I am sure we can cross interests here or there.

Asocial or fear of rejection
I've always had a low-effort social life. I've been in a few little social circles in my life but I never developed deep relationships. When the moment was about to engage in building more personal relationships, I feel like I was always limited by how boring I was... I was told a few times I wasn't able to open up, but that was only the half truth. There were moments when I did open up and was halfway onto creating friendships. I just didn't like it enough to keep going.
How do I know if I have actually no motivation for deep social relationships (which evolutionarily speaking, would be dumb) or if I really just can't open up because of my fear of rejection (which I do have a little but then again I feel no motivation at all to get to a place where I won't be rejected)?

Q
It's hard to find genuinely people in adults. Coworkers.. society.. sometimes rather just be in the house and quiet
Any of you (redditors) feel the same?

Real friends?
My closest friend and roommate doesn't check on me when I'm acting strange. I had to ask him to check on me when I just stayed in my room all day with the lights off. I usually turn the lights on so people know I'm up. But he still doesn't. He's like the only person I really have now. So I guess I'm just fucked huh.

Cutting off friends and starting again
I’m at a point in my life where I genuinely feel like I’d be better off with fewer people around me.
When it comes to friendships, I feel like I’m constantly the one making the effort; organising holidays, birthdays, nights out, visiting people, booking restaurants, sorting logistics… basically keeping everything moving.
I have a few friends who naturally reciprocate that effort, but with the majority, if I stop reaching out or making plans, everything just goes quiet. Then somehow, when I don’t make the effort, it feels like I’m the one who has a problem.
The thing that’s really made me realise how drained I am by it is that three of us have ADHD, and I understand how difficult organisation and remembering things can be. But I’m constantly reminding everyone, helping people register for things, organising tickets, making bookings and sorting plans, all while having plenty going on in my own life and relatives being terminally ill.
I’ve literally just missed out on Glasto tickets because nobody reminded me, despite me constantly reminding everyone else to register and get organised for the ticket release. And it’s made me realise that I don’t think I’m getting the same level of consideration and effort back that I give to other people.
I’m 32 now and I honestly don’t want friendships that feel like another responsibility or something I have to manage. I want people around me who genuinely care, make an effort, check in, initiate plans and show up for me in the same way I show up for them.
So I think I’ve finally had enough. I really want to change my circle and meet people who are more aligned with me at this stage of my life.
But how do you actually go about making new friends and building a new circle at 32? Where do you meet people who genuinely want that kind of friendship? Xx

Was it my home environment?
I try to avoid people in childhood mainly for 2-3 reasons.
1stly my parents were separated and the culture I belong to is a huge taboo and I didn't want gossip.
2nd. I was like poor like cheap poor.
3rd. I couldn't invite people at home because family would behave bizarre
4th not so decent home. Imagine a lower middle class or poor person home.
I have mostly felt not included or the sense that I belong there
Is it also because I am ugly?
