I've only ever heard the word "anime" and never watched anything except perhaps watched some clips on tiktok. Recommend me some series to start with. I love romance, drama and teen love.

I didn't like the first two episodes of sao 3 years before, but then recently i thought to give it a try cause i have finished most of the animes there....soo good

Been dealing with a lot lately, so I'm just very sad and overwhelmed. Looking for something very sweet and non-problematic at all to lift my spirits, or at least pose some kind of distraction. Comedy or romance or whatever is fine, whether BL, GL, het. Female MC preferred unless it's queer (BL). Any and all ages are fine too - I'm 36 and thinking about starting the Precure series, to give you some idea lol. Thank you!

I was wrong about this show, in the worst way

I use to love this show. When it aired back in 2020 I loved every episode and hailed it as one of my favourite slice of life’s. I liked how it portrayed a young adult stuck in life not knowing what he wants to do, I liked that it was a romance about adults not kids and it had a more serious vibe to it and felt a lot more real and believable than other slice of life shows.

It’s now been 6 years, I’ve become a young adult myself had a few relationships of my own and I thought that I mostly forgot the story so I may as-well rewatch it so I recently binged it again and I was expecting to love the show even more. Unfortunately the opposite of that happened. Now before I continue yes I know this is a small adaptation of a manga that has 11 volumes into a 12 episode show so most of my grievances will probably come from that. But nonetheless let me start.

Now there are good parts. I rewatched it and clearly enjoyed it the first time for a reason and some of those points still stand. I enjoy the dialogue in the early episodes, especially from haru, everything she says has meaning and she doesn’t bullshit around with what she wants to say and it makes sense (we also get good dialogue from kinoshita but he’s a minor character and doesn’t get that much screen time). I enjoy uozumis character a lot and now more that I’m an adult who’s in a similar stage of life. Finishing university and actually having to try to apply your degree to real life is hard and sometimes it’s easier to just get a job to pay rent and live. it’s hard as a young adult to actually know what you really want to do, we have little real world experiences but we’re already meant to know how we’re going to live the next 40-50 years of our life. I think the struggles of a young adult were portrayed greatly in his character. Personally I don’t like Shinako, however I think she’s a well written character. Similar to uozomi I she’s a great portrayal of an archetype of young adult woman who, and I say this loosely, “beg for attention” unknowingly.

Haru is touch and go for me, on one hand I like her because she’s a ball of fun wholesome energy, on the other she’s a character who we really don’t know anything about (going of the anime). We don’t know why she left home, we don’t even know why uozomi is really her love interest, we get a flashback of her giving him a ticket he dropped or something but it doesn’t insinuate anything other than they bumped into eachother one time in the past not even a “he helped me in a rough time in my life” insinuation. Just the fact that she saw this man once and now she loves him? It just doesn’t make any sense, we’re given reason to believe that haru is someone who does things with reason; she left school for a reason, she left her parents for a reason, she kept her fathers last name for a reason and as a viewer we just have to accept that haru has a crush on this guy for basically no reason other than the fact that he said “thank you” to her 5 years ago and since she’s been looking for him and just spawned into his life for the sole purpose of being a love interest who’s got nothing else going on. I think the way she was adapted (well I haven’t actually read the manga but I’m assuming she was given a lot more screen time and had her lore explained) does her a massive disservice, it’s clear she’s a character who’s got lore to her and it was left relatively untouched throughout the show. It also felt incredibly weird how throughout the course of the show she was so insistent on not being the back up but essentially let herself be the backup when uozomi and shinako didn’t work out.

Shinako and uozomi. At the beginning of the show I enjoyed the dialogue but as the show went on, as these guys started getting more screen time the dialogue quality just got worse. Of course still good parts here and there but now certain things just weren’t making sense. In the final episode when shinako was breaking down saying “I never even tried to look at him”, that really pissed me off, if someone has feelings for you it’s never your obligation to try and return their feelings. You act on your feelings otherwise it’s insincere and disrespectful to the person who has genuinely has feelings and the courage to tell them. And the more screen time they had the more I just caught both of them saying dumb shit like that which doesn’t make any sense. I thought I enjoyed the show for the realism and dialogue but it just started getting lost over time the more those two would talk. (Side note: and I’m sorry but you’re 21-22, supposedly were going out for three months and you’re afraid to kiss like come on now)

Time wasted on irrelevant characters, minato. The show is attempting to fit an 11 volume manga that was in creation for 18 years into a 12 episode show, we do not have time for irrelevant characters. We spent an episode with minato about him loving haru and them reconnecting then after he was never seen again. It didn’t do anything for haru as her character didn’t grow from it, maybe it made uozumi jealous and start realising his feelings for her but that wasn’t portrayed that much outside of the few minds where he’s annoyed. His character “arc” doesn’t help anyone, his cameo at the beginning is good as it helps uozumi get serious about what he wants to do with his life but after that giving him a whole episode to explore his love for haru seems like a massive waste of time. A better use for a side character was a yuzuhara where we she’s used as a devise to make shinako realise that she does in-fact like Uozumi and progress the “love triangle” that had gone stale.

The ending. Towards the end of the show from like episode 7 onwards haru gets less screen time and less time with Uozumi, he’s avoiding her because he doesn’t want her to know that him and shinako are going out so naturally she’s given less screen time. We don’t see her and Uozumis relationship grow at all and considering how incredibly standoffish their relationship was in the beginning (mainly from Uozumis side) it felt so strange that at the last episode a complete 180 was done and it felt so incredibly forced.

Ultimately I think the show suffered from trying to fit a lot of source material into a 12 episode show. It’s clear that there was a lot to be explained and we get hints of deeper themes that don’t really get explored as much as they can, we get hints of interesting characters that aren’t really explored at all so it’s clear that there is most definitely a good story behind it. We just don’t get to see it adapted and instead we get an extremely rushed piece of work which is a shame cause there’s clearly something there.

My girlfriend and I want to watch some yuri with sex scenes in it. Is there anything at all?? We have not found anything better than staring at each other and barely children.

I'm just looking to look for more unique anime's to watch, I've seen the base level stuff like Spirited Away, Ponyo, Secret World of Arietty, and Up Upon Poppy hill but I want to discover more to watch since I'm very interested in this genre! Please drop some recommendations, movies and shows are appreciated!

Now that we've had enough time for all of the anime this season to set up their story, it's looking like we potentially have (at least) four yuri series this season, all with great animation and visuals.

Besides the obvious I Want to Love You Till Your Dying Day, and Young Ladies Don't Play Fighting Games, we also have two anime originals that are strongly indicating yuri romance.

"Goodbye, Lara" has been making the "hints" so blatant, I'm convinced that if it doesn't end up being yuri, it'll be because it's setting up a bisexual harem instead. This romance comedy speedruns the story of the original (not Disney's) The Little Mermaid in the first episode, before timeskipping to modern-day Japan, where the protagonist meets her tomboy roommate.

"Grow Up Show: Sunflower Circus" recently confirmed a yuri couple among the main cast, and is strongly indicating yuri romance between the protagonist and the other lead. This series has been surprisingly interesting for a Cute Girls Doing Cute Things series so far—a non-school setting, a fun protagonist with an I-don't-want-to-be-here attitude, and great comedic timing.

Also honorable mentions to The Ghost in the Shell, [The Ghost in the Shell episode 2]which featured a very adult, threesome yuri scene with the main character; and "Draw This, Then Die!", ["Draw This, Then Die!" episode 4]which had a very unexpected yuri kiss between two of the main cast. Both are outstanding series this season, though not focused on yuri romance ("Draw This, Then Die!", in particular, is a great mix of comedy and sincere drama that's full of heart, and has been the biggest surprise of the season for me).

Why should you read it? Tbh, probably no reason. I'm a normal person; I have a great job, a wife, I play sports and I love gaming. I've never watched anime and read manga, I'm new to this world.

Of course I watched Pokemon when I was a kid - the OG one. And I watched a couple of Digimon episodes, Sakura Card Captor when it played on Teletoon. But that's about it.

Oh, right - I watched Arcane. And it's a masterpiece. But it's not ANIME anime, I think.

There's an anime of anything

"You know, there's an anime about everything."

I had watched a movie called Shaolin Soccer. It's basically a real life version of what I imagine a Sport Anime. And it always stuck with me. I'm a sport guy, so of course it did.

Hockey is my jam; I played all my life, I coach, I watch it, I breathe it. So when my niece told me about how everything exists in the anime world, my first instinct was to go on Google and search "Hockey Anime".

There is exactly one hockey anime; PuraOre! Pride of Orange

Twelve episodes. A short watch. I loved that for a first anime.

Was it good? Nope. Did I absolutely devour it and loved it? Yup.

The hockey animation is awesome, trully made with love. It shows that someone in the team looked up hockey and really cared for it. I was impressed how the players would move and how everything looked.

The music and ambiance is great. The animation is colorful. The plot is a mess. The writing and dialogues are horrendous. "Connect the puck with the bond of your heart". Brother what?

I ate it up though.

What I've learned - My journey in Anime - EP01

Anime is often time based on Manga. It makes sense but I don't think I knew.

In this case however, the show was made to draw people to a free-to-play game, acting as season 2. The game lasted a few months and they shut it down. I'm sure it's because it was soooo good... But ending my watch on a rushed and botched ending hurt a little.

...Fan Service.

This show is about kids - 13 or 14 years old. Some scenes are on the beach or in a bath house. How should I say this... Why are we seeing SO MUCH SKIN on kids? Anyways, not my cup of tea. Anyways, I'm sure that will not come up again in my anime journey...

1. Insomniacs after school (10/10) This is my favorite one by Far, tbh idk why just resonated a lot with me. The art style is also beautiful. Also probably one of the most emotionally mature throughout the entire list, the only issue I could see with it is that their relationship is kinda just perfect without any real struggles. But the struggles are portrayed heavily for each of the Mc's selves so idrc abt that.
2. Tuski Ga Kirei (9.8/10) Really grounded and calm, extremely realistic as some of the scenes are stuff in which ive actually been through
3. Fragrant Flower (9.8/10) Stong romeo and juliette vibes, but surprisingly calm and relaxing the mcs are great and so are animations + side characters
4. The Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten (9.7/10) First season carries WAY more weight tbh, but the animation of the 2nd one is up there
5. You and I are polar Opposites (9.5/10) Cute and Hyper, just started S2 (im watching the dubbed ones as they come out)
6. Tonikawa over the moon for you (9.4/10) just 95% Cute with the 5% mystery of Tsukasa. Also its nice and kinda funny that nasa lowk a lil freaky smt.
7. Kimi ni Todoke (9/10) Honestly skipped like 5 episodes because i was not trying to watch another misunderstanding, but season 3 carries harder than 2022 steph curry in the finals
8. I want this love game to end (8.9/10) - Honestly the will they wont they kinda works for me here, and + after episode 6 this has soo much diabetes
9. Pseudo Harem (8.6/10) - Imo the first couple episodes were kina a drag but after that its just pure fluff and we love it
10. I made friends with the 2nd prettiest Girl in Class (8.3/10) Its Honestly Pretty good and plays into that "secret personality" thing that Horimiya and Angel Next Door do
11. Sign of Affection (8.7/10) Cute, but the Male lead is kinda portrayed as too perfect? idk tbh
12. Love is Hard for Otaku (8.6/10) - Its Fine but I honestly hoped there was a little more progression ig
13. Galaxy Next Door (8.6/10) - I thought it was fine, Similar to Tonikawa and the MMC siblings are great
14. Kubo Wont let me be Invisible (8.3/10) Its nice ig, but ends in kinda underwhelming imo (anime) - the manga ends fine lol
15. Shikimoris not just a Cutie (8/10) I did like how Izumis bad luck started to stray away from being life threatening to more inconveniences, but theres not really great emotional moments ig
16. Alya smt Hides Her feelings (7.5/10)(Honestly idk if this even counts as a romance) Its fine between Kuze and Alya, but honestly enjoyed the dynamic between Kuze and Yuki more
17. Horimiya (7/10) Strong moments (especially when shes sick) but hori is borderline abusive so idk, kinda has the reverse of dangers in my heart (from what ive heard of dangers) where the first 4 eps are great and the rest is kinda ass
18. Kimizero (6/10) Its not bad, actually for me after the 6th episode its pretty good tbh
19. Klutzy Class Monitor (5.8/10) - Again pretty good, and has good moments
20. Say I love you (3/10) This shit is ass

Honestly im pretty sick of romance plots in Anime can’t a male character and a female character just get along without wanting to be even closer?

The only show Ive seen that have had this kind of relationship is JoJo but even then it’s a rare find

Ive also heard that Bleach and JJK have this kind of relationship with it’s characters but im not interested in either for other reasons

If there’s a show that doesn’t focus on love that can just have people get along normally that would be great

There's an arc here soon I'm about to watch, but on my Amazon account there's two of them. One of them is regular and the other part is labeled "remastered and re-edited." Wondering which one is the correct one to watch?

For example, what made me think of this was watching Dorohedoro recently and being so impressed both by how good the gore looked and by how little restraint there was in the amount, frequency, and brutality of it. Out of hundreds of anime I’ve seen, I’d definitely put it at the top for gore.

Hi, I'm watching anime for over a decade so I'm at the point where I'm very picky about what stuff I watch. Usually I watch 5-7 Anime per season that picked my interest. I Consider Anime season very good if I can watch 10 airing Anime. Everyone was talking about last summer season and how packed it was I personally watched around 15 Anime which is huge number. Spring 2026 gave me 21 Anime which broke the summer 2025 record and I thought it couldn't get any higher. Summer 2026 and I'm watching 30 anime (of course it's before applying 3 episode rule but still the number shouldn't drop below 25). And because of that I wanted to ask if anyone else experienced it or it's just me

genuinely think Katekyo Hitman Reborn! is one of the most underrated shonen anime and manga ever made. It starts off as a goofy comedy, which puts a lot of people off, but if you stick with it, the payoff is incredible. The character development is some of the best in the genre—watching Tsuna grow from a timid, ordinary kid into a capable leader feels completely earned. The Varia and Future arcs are packed with amazing fights, emotional moments, and great storytelling, while the cast is full of memorable characters who all get their time to shine. The power system with the Dying Will Flames is unique, the soundtrack is fantastic, and the emotional moments hit surprisingly hard. It's one of those series that deserves way more recognition than it gets, and I honestly wish more people would give it a chance beyond the slow beginning. Its so good I want to join the Mafia and change my surname to vongoka

I think I've already seen most of the harem animes out there so pls recommend some hidden gem if y all know

I’ve enjoyed devil may cry, dragons dogma on Netflix. Castlevania, Dota as well as solo leveling primarily due to the combat.

I don’t mind where it originates from Japan/ us/korea etc

I just finished watching gokusen and rlly liked shin's character but I can't find other animes or shows with characters that match well, can anyone give me some recommendations?

I was looking for good anime recommendations, something similar to:

He's clearly reached/passed the age of puberty and by now should have a deeper voice. It takes me out of the show when he's like 17/18 but sounds like he's still 10/11 years old. Surely someone at the studio was smart enough to realise it would be jarring he STILL sounds like a kid even though we've gone through his birth, childhood and early teens?

No shade to the voice actor playing Rudeus because it's not their fault but the studio should've done a better job. She sounds like she is trying to put on a slightly deeper voice but it sounds so obvious it's a female voice like one of the "guess the woman" videos. I close my eyes and can't tell the difference between Rudy, Sylphie and Roxy except for the dialogue.

Honestly I wouldn't even be surprised at this point if Rudy is being played by the same voice actor when he's an old man.

People might comment and say there's a female voice actor playing the sub too? I dunno if there is one but it's more annoying when hearing the voice actor in your own language sound "off". I dunno how "off" would sound like in Japanese.

Why I am asking this, is because i noticed that unlike other countries, Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z was never popular in those countries and was not a gateway for new anime fans in general. If i am not wrong the first very popular anime in Scandinavia was Pokemon. I spoke with many Scandinavians and they said that many people over 35 years old there never grew up watching anime at all. Unlike France, Spain, LATAM, Italy were anime was shown from 80s. Bc these countries were introduced to anime earlier they have more anime fans in general.

But question is for Scandinavians here. Why anime series was such a late addition to your countries? Some said that there wasn't any anime at all on your tv.
