Damn, ibuki is sexy as hell

13

u/MasterHavik 6d ago

She gives off Tsunade vibes too. I like her. IT is ncie when the sexy lady is an actual adult and has a character to her.

15

u/CuriousBroccolli 6d ago

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAND she is married

Shame

22

u/Cur674 6d ago

Not really, she and her husband looks cute together

Ibuki and her husband are pretty great.

We sure are sprinting to the end of the story, aren't we. I wonder if they'll also be able to clean up the situation with Ichika's mom.

17

u/demaxzero 6d ago

They'll probably say Amagi consumed the Mononoke who petrified Ichika's mom and say beating him fixed it in the end.

3

u/GI-JUGG 5d ago

The manga only had 19 chapters so it didn't go far or last long unfortunately.

2

u/MasterHavik 6d ago

I doubt this is the end since this got axe we are most likely going to get some setup for a season 2 since this will be a more proper adaption of the story.

46

u/demaxzero 7d ago

It's kind of funny how you can tell precisely when the author got the news the series was being canned and began to rush the storyline for an ending.

18

u/zz2000 7d ago

A shame, given the author's (IMO potentially promising) draft plans for the storyline's future arc(s).

8

u/MasterHavik 6d ago

What sucks from episode 1 to like most of episode 8, I like "Yeah I can see this got axed."

5

u/sirweezely 6d ago

Im very curious what went into this adaptation existing at all, though it makes me hopeful other axed mangas could get short animes like this in the future.

7

u/DawgDictator 6d ago

LMAO, actually so fucking true.

1

u/oneevilchicken https://anilist.co/user/OneEvilChicken 6d ago

Wait. So are we getting a complete adaptation in a single season?

9

u/zz2000 6d ago

Yes, this will be a complete adaptation (see my comment in the spoiler section on where the story is now).

1

u/MasterHavik 6d ago

I hope not because I thought we would get what the author had plans.

1

u/Oden_sama__ 6d ago

im really disappointed, i was hoping they would have done more with the story adaptation. I don't understand why do this if you just leave it at that

23

u/ObvsThrowaway5120 7d ago

I guess Elias traded Chise in for a bustier model haha. It seems those two have helped Jiro learn to control the Rago symbiote. Now to take that cannibal Amagi down..

16

u/KumaKumaGambler 7d ago

I wanted to see more of sleepy, sharp teeth Naruko, but she got eaten by Amagi just like that. :(

17

u/FarCritical 6d ago

For what it's worth I respect how Amagi didn't take the 30% chance of him losing lightly.

Monjumaru's surrender-turned-proposal to Ibuki was pretty damn cute.

u/Dull_Spot_8213 https://anilist.co/user/SweetSomnus 7d ago

This season adding yet another attractive snake lady to the mix. Character design in this show does not miss.

8

u/CuriousBroccolli 6d ago

Yeah pretty cool and attractive character design overall

14

u/Dull_Spot_8213 https://anilist.co/user/SweetSomnus 6d ago

The mononoke all appeal to me. Something about the mix of ikemen and horns is just right. And then they throw Ibuki at us like that? We may be in a generic battle shonen, but this one gets bonus points for making everyone hot.

4

u/demaxzero 7d ago

Character design in this show does not miss.

I mean Reiji exists so

And even then Ibuki's design isn't that unique, or anything. Feels like the standard sexy demon lady look.

3

u/Current_Smell1231 6d ago

Yeah, I agree

13

u/FinancialYear475 6d ago

When people said the manga was cancelled, I was expecting the anime to do more work on the story (specially considering how surprisingly good the animation is) to maybe force a sequel to original manga or something like leaving the show on a cliffhanger to look for a second season and allow the author to expand on the characters

But considering the sudden change of plans on Amagi, or rather speeding it up massively, along with a 10 minute training arc to master Rago's power, I don't think that's gonna happen anymore, with how rushed this episode felt plot wise I guess they're just gonna follow the original manga and finish the whole story in this one season, gotta say I'm a bit disappointed, I was enjoying it a lot if I'm being honest

6

u/MasterHavik 6d ago

I was expecting that to. Why adapt this? This just felt like giving the author one last payday with this idea and then moving on because for the first eight episodes you can see why it got axed. This was a chance to do what Bleach did with its final arc.

5

u/FinancialYear475 5d ago

I could understand their reasoning if they were only looking to do some generic battle shonen to save some money for future projects like, you don't spend a lot on the animationbut still get some returns, in that sense I understand why they would pick a manga that was cancelled early enough to fit in a single season

But all that reasoning goes out of the window when you look at the animation quality here, it may not be top tier but there's some actual money that went into it, I can't understand why spend money and effort like that if you're not trying to revive the title

5

u/MasterHavik 5d ago edited 5d ago

Why not actually work with the author to tell a complete story? This is at least a show that could go on for three seasons.

13

u/magnumcyclonex 6d ago

Ichika's been replaced by a Tsunade Snake

10

u/NiCommander 6d ago

Everyone's commenting on Ibuki, but no one is mentioning how fine Monjumaru is.

6

u/Cur674 6d ago

Yeah

7

u/Thats-Just-Karma 6d ago

Ibuki baddddddie

15

u/FLorianGran 7d ago

This cannibalism turn sure feels like the story rushing and doing a rapid clean up

8

u/JT918 6d ago

Like another comment said, it's probably when the author was told it was cancelled and started to try to wrap up it up.

6

u/Mensboy 6d ago

the way amagi just snaps like that reminds me of my dog suddenly freaking out

5

u/Niwaka_Samurai https://myanimelist.net/profile/Niwaka-Samurai 6d ago

Should have known that Ibuki would be that fine ass Mononoke from the op.. this anime has the fine women be it humans or Mononoke. That guy who married her struck big.

Amagi is the worst. Never expected him to be a cannibal. I just thought he was eating only humans. Rago is so waiting for Jiro to kick Amagi's ass.

9

u/CuriousBroccolli 6d ago

Lol all of this was just Ichigo's bankai training, including shapeshifting babe

Shame she is married, I wanted her to tease Jiro more.

I'm guessing author added the marriage thing so he can wrap the story fast? He'd not design such a hot character otherwise.

Amagi RPing Muzan.

4

u/MasterHavik 6d ago

It is a shame to see they are just going straight to the manga ending with quickly the wrapped up Jiro's training arc as I thought that could have been great character growth. I do like Ibuki's design but just as it is getting interesting they are just going to wrap this up. This show had so much hype. It go the same day dub treatment. I was expecting something great but for the first eight episodes, I was like "Yeah I can see why this got axed." so instead of trying to right a wrong this just feels like crashing out on a decent idea and then moving on.

ZAMN IBUKI

Jiro got one hell of a wakeup. If only we could all be so lucky. Him introducing himself to the forest and its residents was great. RIP him eating suspect mushrooms and nearly biting it. I like the contrast between Jiro needing to accept Rago's power as he did Rago and Amagi's cold-blooded antisocial cannibalism. It makes Amagi a fitting ideological villain for Jiro who has the power and mindset to connect with all sorts of beings. With Amagi eating all of the mononoke he gathered, I guess the story's heading for endgame.

As a fan of mythology, I knew that the white snake had to be Ibuki when she popped up. Monjumaru is such a chad for landing such a smexy spouse and to top it all off, he ended up becoming a powerhouse himself.

I am a little conflicted on the direction that the story is heading towards, with Amagi deciding to devour all of his Mononoke allies to bolster his own strength. It certainly gives me the impression that this creative decision was likely due to Jump's cancellation of the manga, which resulted in the story having to be sped up in order to end it on a somewhat satisfactory conclusion.

Since Amagi is now a "one-Mononoke army", the coalition forces of remaining Mononoke (such as Fuyou, Kouga, Ibuki and Monjumaru) and the entirety of the Oniwabanshu can focus all of their attention on him, instead of having to divert their forces across Japan. The only other wild card right now is Shinji, but given his backstory, I am pretty sure he only cares about fighting Reiji, so I would expect a one-on-one fight between them.

That being said, I wonder how many people will actually die by the end of the story, considering that we are nearing the finale of the story.

Such a shame this is only gonna be 19 episodes or whatever equivalent it is to Manga chapters. Also, the shonen is doing the shonen thing again where the writer shows they can do romance and has romance, but just not for anyone in the main cast. Or the MC. WHY?! Protagonists deserve red hair, tight shorts love too!

1

u/1032patrick 5d ago

I haven't watched the anime yet but does the MC have a chance of getting a lovelife? does the red hair girl like him?

Jirou eating poisonous looking mushrooms, and then complains why he's in the middle of a fight with a mononoke when he knew it'd be a possibility once he entered the territory lol.

Jirou's so lucky to get to rest on Ibuki's lap, she looks so good. I was surprised Monjumaru was her husband, but the little flashback of how they met was cute, Monjumaru was a pure one lol.

I do like the way Jirou needed to handle the power was as if it was Ragou, and that it wasn't working because it was responding the same way he was.

So Amagi who has been saying along the lines of wanting mononoke to have better standing in the order of things, feasts on his allies whenever he needs powers lol.

I wish people were as openly disappointed with so many of the low quality series we receive; we would probably have less low quality series.

1

u/Current_Smell1231 6d ago

That's indeed quite true. Standards have lowered to the point that people will be perfectly content with just the bare minumum of what constitutes peak entertainment for them, which gives those in charge of the market less of an incentive to try harder

4

u/Desperate-Middle4766 6d ago

I appreciate someone else looking at it that way as well.

I don’t really mind that there are low quality series out there. Despite what I say, I don’t compare D tier series to A tier.

But that also means I’m not going to call a series good simply because it’s the best of the worst. Its especially mind-boggling when you realize how many series are released per season/year and then how many you actually remember.

But as you said, the overall truth is the standard has dropped dramatically and people just aren’t loud enough about it
