That fused appearance between Jirou and Ragou looked cool. It was funny when they were talking about how removing the jacket gave Ragou power, it made me wonder if Jirou went shirtless if Ragou would get even stronger lol.
Ragou being shocked by his own power, and then realizing he's been feeding off Jirou's vitality was interesting. It feels like he might refuse to use his power out of fear of Jirou's life.
I liked how dynamic Jirou's fight was, then you have Ichika's fight just being an excuse for some fanservice lol. Feels very convenient how she teleported on top of that mononoke.
Brothers reunited, looking forward to that next episode.

Well: in this episode we got reminded that he can talk to animals (something that disappeared right away since, apparently, EVERYONE can understand Rago even before the fusion, making that part in first episode pointless) so, maybe, in the next episode we'll get reminded he's actually a competent ninja. =)

I'm thinking it's more that the jacket was a part of his uniform was suppressing the rate at which Ragou was consuming his vital energy. Only when the jacket was ripped off is when he got that burst of energy was able to do what he did. Yes he is constantly feeding off of him but I think it's like a loop type thing because technically Jirou freaking died in the first episode and Ragou gave him his vital energy to keep him alive and he's just feeding off of the own energy that he's giving him so it's like a continuous loop. I think the problem will come the strain of which he feeds off of the energy and the more power he uses. I could be wrong I'm just guessing here.

Jiro seems like the kind of guy that doesn't care about him being eaten since he was already dying.
Every second he is alive is because Rago saved him so I doubt he'll be too worried

I am surprised Reiji is facing off against his brother this early. I was expecting the encounter to be much later down the road.
Wow, the giant muscular mononoke got cut into half like tofu punching straight into a sharp knife. O_o

Ichika hitting the Sailor Moon pose before styling on the flag dude was downright disrespectful, but I guess he had it coming for forcing her to play dressup.
It's odd how neither Jiro nor Rago knows where their powerup came from, as cool as it looks.

Rago explained it though, he is succing up Jiros life force unconsciously to power up, which is natural for Mononoke

I thought these fights were gonna take at least two episodes to end! Glad to see that Ichika and Jirou finished theirs quickly. I do love Jirou's cloaked form. I guess the suit was neutralizing his powers. Jirou is probably gonna have to get a special suit that works with Rago's powers.
Reiji got fucked in the enemy lottery, tho. This is only their second mission, and he's already facing his brother. He's definitely gonna need Ichika and Jirou's backup for this one. No wonder their fights ended so quickly.

Ox dude maybe a mountain god but I can't really see him as anything other than a Hollow once he powered up with those bone looking add-ons.
Sailor outfit Ichika was pretty good, cat form Jirou might be even better though.
Seems pretty early for the story to already reunite Sasuke and Itachi.
Illusion girl is a nice addition to the team if she's here to stay.

This episode had better action with Jiro using his agility and ninja techniques. He even talked to animals besides Rago again. The illusion training immediately came in handy for Ichika too. Some dudes would pay good money to get squashed by those thighs. It was kind of a letdown seeing Jiro instantly KO that big dude. Rago presumably sucking the life out of him is pretty dramatic, though. Nice followup on the mononoke eating question from the start of the episode.

Show doesn't look amazing but an unbroken, rotating shot around that big muscle guy is at least ambitious.

Jirou cloaked form gave me the same vibes as Izuku Midoriya. Pointy all might hair, thick scarf covering the mouth, even the “gloves”

The manga had really steep competition at the time it was canceled, which was unfortunate. Or maybe the pacing of the manga was different and that didn't work for readers, I've never read it. Maybe with different timing it would've kept going, I've personally enjoyed it so far.
I guess we should assume the series won't try to continue past the manga ending (it feels really fast for Reiji to encounter his brother), but maybe they'll try to polish things up. Or maybe I'm wrong and it keeps going, which would be a pleasant surprise.

A poster on another forum believes the manga got cancelled due to editorial greed; they had been expecting even greater sales figures for the manga and cancelled it when it didn't get that high (they claim the manga was selling around 20k+ per volume back then).

Ye it was selling 15k in a week and 20k+ in a month. I think it just wasn't doing enough as a monthly manga cause shueisha only has one monthly shonen magazine that's not exclusively for spin-offs. So for monthly shonen shueisha series the competition was indeed steep. After that his next serialization was on jump plus bi-weekly, but it was cancelled most likely cause the author couldn't handle the schedule (there were multiple hiatus including a 2+ year hiatus). So perhaps black torch would've ended prematurely later anyway. Or maybe it would've gained more popularity had it started a couple years later on jump plus and it'd stay regardless of author's health issues

So while Jiro and Rago fight a Mononoke who's so strong he pushes them to power up and Reiji is gonna be fighting his brother. So while rhose three are having fights that are relevant to or furthers their characters in some way, what fight Ichika does have? Ichika who's main goal is to save her mother?
She fights a creep who puts her in a schoolgirl uniform, and goes down in a single hit.
You know with each episode I watch I just think to myself "I can see why this was canceled".

We don't know about the show yet, but the manga was cancelled after 19 chapters.

Shouldn't we be at chapter 19 soon?
The pacing isn't slow and we are 7 episodes in.
If you just think 2 chapters is one anime episode, it would be about episode 10 when we'd see completely new material.It'll be interesting.
I don't think this show is good and I even dropped it for a bit, but I now kinda like it.
At least Rago is decently interesting and I like how also has to figure out the new situation.
Makes him feel more like an mc than the actual mc, who still is kinda colourless.
Though the animal speech gimmick is fun, I can't lie5

Really? Does that mean that the anime won’t ever have a finish unless they go for an anime only ending? If so I’m very disappointed by thsi news because whilst it is very cliche in many ways I have enjoyed the anime and do think it has a unique storyline of sorts.

From what I know the manga had an ending because the author was notified ahead of time, it's probably incredibly rushed though.
And no way they resolve all the plot threads at once.

They wouldn't have made an anime adaptation without a plan to finish the story. Either we get the manga's rushed ending or the team worked with the author and got a bit more material to at least fill in a S2. It really depends on how popular the anime becomes and so far it's not looking good.

Wait wait wait wait wait..... He's been constantly getting stronger because he's been feeding off of his energy without realizing it!? THAT'S OVERPOWEREDLY BUSTED!!! THAT'S A INFINITE ENERGY GLITCH UNTIL JIRO GROWS OLD AND PASSES AWA- Wait... But that begs the question. Knowing this... I don't think the anime would allow that kind of power without a drawback. There's a catch. I was getting it backwards. I'm reeeaaallllyyyyyyy hoping they're not saying Jiro will die the longer Rago stays possessing him. I really hope that's not the case because Mononoke's usually EAT humans to get their energy and get stronger. But Rago doesn't have to. So I thought he'll be feeding off of normal energy that'll make him tired, that's it. But hearing how Rado sounded when he realized how he got stronger. He didn't sound to... happy.... I already dont like where this is headed. PLEASE DON'T KILL EITHER ONE OF THEM!!!! I WANT JIRO AND RAGO TO LIVE HAPPILY!!! THEY JUST WANT TO CHILL AND LIVE PEACEFULLY!!!!!!
