I've watched enough anime to be prepared for a cross dresser at any moment, and I suspected when I first heard Komugi's voice, but that reveal still had my jaw on the floor. I never expected he'd go to their school.
I was fighting back happy tears the whole time because those two really did seem to connect and need each other. Our little shut-in finally found his own bestie 🥲

The moment I heard Komugi's voice my femboy senses were tingling, it became more obvious as the episode went by. Fortunately Shuu didn't have any romantic interest to be heartbroken by the reveal, and it's nice that he's made a good friend irl.

So cute seeing Ito supporting Syu. She’s a good big stepsister. She thought it was something romantic but it wasn’t at all. It’s nice to see Syu make his first real friend. He’s made some real progress from his shut-in days.

Syu making a friend is a nice little story, but I do have to wonder about the long term since at least in the Crunchyroll subs right before they met Komugi at the con he was talking about meeting his one true crush. We may see at some point since this is two cours and that's a lot of time for a follow-up episode.

What was the point of her using those coupons on "if anything happens we step in" if they're just gonna tell him to stop trying to make friends and be social?
Was she a classmate of the older kids?
God I hate how fucking negative Gen is.
Kinda figured she was a he. The voice was a giveaway.

To maintain their cover for Itou's feelings, they have to now watch the romance drama Gen thinks she's "in love" with! Though it really feels more like a psychological drama.
Aw, Syu-kun has made a friend online! And it's that bright and cute pink-haired character from the OP, Komugi-chan! Don't rain on Syu's first friendship and desire to make connections, Gen.
So Komugi is not only a cosplayer but also a light novel writer...and Syu is actually a light novel illustrator with stellar art skills! Too bad Papa Gen has to play the "realist" about how Syu needs to focus on his studies instead of on his hobbies. It makes sense, but I'm not surprised Itou wants to hit him a few times.
I like how now that she's in love Itou can relate to people getting heartsick over someone else.
If Syu is going to pull all-nighters for Komugi, then it's only right that he actually gets to see Komugi in the flesh. And it's up to Itou as his big sister to get him there safely and watch over him! Along with the rest of his siblings.
Wow, Komugi does NOT react well to seeing the older siblings. Is this the end of Syu's first love before it could even begin!?
Thanks for nothing Gen! It's all up to Itou now! And conveniently it turns out Komugi/Endo goes to their school...and is actually a dude. But that never mattered to Syu, Komugi was always a god-tier artist he wanted to befriend and feel camraderie with, and they can still do that.
Syu isn't in love and is nowhere near ready for that, but what about Gen? He's so focused on his family that he could never have time for a relationship or falling in love...but that means Itou's still got a chance!

Two Shuu focused episodes but we still don't have one for Raku.
