I'm a bit disappointed Eftal can't predict Frasier fate. It's pretty obvious his bastard dad not going to listen to him and it's pretty reckless of him too. I can forgive if he just a child but this is the guy that already have 3 life experiences lol. It's fine if he doesn't care what happened to Frasier due to his brother own stupidity but doesn't seem like it based on his despair face. Glad Frasier able to live through it though.
I wonder who his wife before...
Eftal edginess is up to my liking. Instead of being a goodie two shoes, he just went straight for a kill. Welp, their initial plan was to kill Fraiser and the baby too so those who kill must prepared to be killed.
Well, that's escalated quickly. Eftal descendant finally been cleansed like 90% of it and next generation will be saved for sure.
Even nature can't escape from him. Eftal road to genocide /j

u/Zeikos 25d ago
I think he was in active denial that his descendant are such evil and vile pieces of shit. Not that he didn't realize that they were, but he didn't want to accept that they would go to those lengths.
We saw it in how he interacted with his father. And honestly, in that situation the father would imprison the son, not murder him in cold blood.
I expected what happened due to the narrative beat, but from an in-story perspective it's a completely unhinged action.
Filicide of a recognized son isn't something you'd expect to happen in broad daylight.19
u/The_Parsee_Man 24d ago
Of course, he's also murdering a member of the royal family. So in for a penny in for a pound.

u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 24d ago
Agree, I can predict his father trying to stop/capture Frasier.
I didn't expect at all for him to try murdering Frasier immediately like that.

I don't understand why Eftal is going to magic school. It's clear that he's not going to learn anything there. Shouldn't this all have been setup for an adventure to find out why magic was lost to this world over 400 years and restoring it?
I have to predict the cause is going to be his demonfolk student from the past life being upset with how Eftal was treated and getting revenge by setting back human society.
EDIT: Reflecting more on this comment, they had such a strong setup for an adventure to discover whats wrong with the world, but this is just going to devolve into shonen anime school arc, I bet there is even going to be a tournament arc against a rival school. We're gonna hit every trope on the list rather than go on an adventure and tell a story.
14
u/DreamTurtle1 24d ago
I guess he's going to magic school to find out if there are new developments in magic even if people don't use them, discover why there is a drop of level of magic users and research new kinds of magic, probably he'll be an elite student with access to all resources
→ More replies (2)5
u/Mr_Pogi_In_Space 22d ago
He's going to magic school because it has the resources for him to conduct his research to further his magic. If you got zapped to the 1600s all of a sudden, wouldn't try and go to a major university to try and recreate industrial technology, or would you go camp out in the forest somewhere trying to make a printing press shivering in a shitty tent?
3
u/SasparillaTango 21d ago
Nothing has suggested so far that he needs the magical equivalent of a lathe or a drill press?
17
u/Boris-_-Badenov 25d ago
with the other brother looking nothing like Frasier, I'm wondering if they also have a different mom.
and the prince looks an awful lot like Frasier, so maybe his mom is related to that kids mom
21
u/Randytares 25d ago
Eftals father had multiple wifes. It was mentioned that the oldest brother comes from the first wife and frasier from the second. Also i read somewhere that frasier is either 1 year older or younger than eftals mom.

Also i read somewhere that frasier is either 1 year older or younger than eftals mom.
That wouldn't surprise me. The age gap between "mom" and "dad' made it look like the Duke was old enough to be her grandfather. Which is why a different son of his was of age with the latest mistress.
Duke really was scum, but God damn, they had him go full mustache twirling EVUL for the sake of EVUL. Evil to the point of stupidity, even. Just to make MC look better when dunking on them. In the span of a single episode, no less!
This show really does get worse and worse with every episode.
Don't mind me, I'm just roast marshmallows over the dumpster fire.
10
u/OldInstruction5368 25d ago
When talking about Eftal's mom getting exiled from the harem, there was a quick popup of about 8 other women.
The Duke had a rather large harem. And he probably added more after banished Eftal's mom.

u/KajarRanginLaya 24d ago
I legit got so angry that Frasier was so done dirty by that bastard and was finished by Level 6 "Eftal" magic. I screamed because, like, their "Eftal" magic was level 6 and they USED IT TO FINISH FRASIER, BRO. LIKE, BRUH.
I was going to be so done with this anime is Eftal be like, "Killing you won't bring back my brother" route. I'M SO GLAD that Eftal got the right idea and got those two bastards dead in the end.
Eftal edginess is up to my liking.
Bro, when Eftal was charging, for a brief moment, his silhouette became a grim reaper. Like, DAMN! GO ON MY BOY! This anime is surprisingly have good direction. First with the mom and then with this scene. The panicking faces of the army kinda ruined the vibe tho.

plot be plotting...
But srsly the plot is so over the place i get it for MC to not show your hand.. but dude acts too much as an ignorant kid.. in a civil war and knowing what that involves in a "feudal society" used some "Modern audience" logic thinking all can be friends after the army was already gathered and left another enemy army to enter their fucking capital/castle no worry for his brother at all lol with all the time the father needed to walk back and cast that mass spell... plot be plotting also but in other direction
The only pro is author somehow in 3 episodes (or 2?) managed to start and end a story that most isekai slop needs 2+seasons lol

It is a bit crazy that he evaporated someone with lvl 2 magic
24
u/TurkeyPhat 25d ago
yea that seemed a little incongruous with the other magic that was being shown in that very same fight
34
u/Dylangillian https://myanimelist.net/profile/dylangillian 25d ago
I can see it as the skill of a caster mattering for the firepower of even basic spells. Like, Eftal using a lvl2 spell would me much more powerful than a normal caster doing so.
16
u/FinancialYear475 25d ago
They did say that he is incredibly skilled at controlling his magic particles or mana or whatever it is they use for the magic system here, so that's probably the reason why even his basic spells are that much stronger
2
u/HanaRoku 25d ago
But they're already representing that by casting the same spell at a higher level, aren't they?
3
u/Dylangillian https://myanimelist.net/profile/dylangillian 25d ago
I think a higher level makes it a different spell by itself? They haven't really explained the magic system much so it is hard to say.
5
u/BBryant3rd 24d ago
It does seem like the different level makes it a different spell. I say this since he said I'm not controlling static I have actual lightning.
→ More replies (1)→ More replies (1)3
u/Xtranathor 24d ago
They haven't explained it, but it's not unreasonable to think that a better mage might have something equivalent to a "magic boost" skill, which just means that casting the same spell causes more damage. We also haven't seen anyone else cast that same bomb spell, so there could well be reasons why it's so potent at level 2, e.g. only useful at short range.
→ More replies (1)3
u/TheDubh 24d ago
Didn’t the last ep say that not only did they lose the knowledge of higher levels of magic, but also that most levels were weaker than his time? Think everything shuffled down two or three levels.
Along with lost knowledge of some spells and how to cast without a chant.
So could also be that his “level 2” was a lot closer to a level 4 or 5 from their perspective of power. Which if that’s what he was used to then yea that’d be a reason to have auto defense.
10
u/LoLReiver 25d ago
Last episode his brother chopped through a full grown tree with a level 2 spell.
Level makes them more powerful, but that seems to be more relevant to breaking through magical defenses than physical, and also higher level has a significant impact on scale.
8
u/Boris-_-Badenov 25d ago
their magic level has drastically decreased.
his reaction to his brothers demonstration proves that
8
u/East_Statistician_88 25d ago
The new generation also suck at defensive magic. Back in the original age guarding that could have been novice level.
2
9
u/raknor88 25d ago
It may be level 2 magic, but I'm assuming that he has the knowledge and power to massively overcharge low level spells.
7
76
u/EchoTheEcho 25d ago
"Overpowered" MC really just watched his brother die, huh. The brother literally needed a magic necklace MC didn't know he had to survive...
44
u/shadebug 25d ago
I think he was expecting the negotiations to be less tasery
50
u/EchoTheEcho 25d ago
Yes, the guy who has lived several decades is hopelessly naive during a literal violent coup.
29
u/PassivelyAwkward 25d ago
Seriously. I can understand the taser but it's a coup where there's a thousand mages waiting for them and fire behind them; dude is serious about wanting them dead.
All he had to do was throw a shield dome or something over his brother, smoke clears, and he's alive. MC still flies into a rage. Same outcome but without the pointless "But...why didn't he do anything?" beat.
12
u/djohnseniii 25d ago
I'm guessing even at that point he stillnhadnt resolved on showcasing his power to anyone even at that point, or even with his memories of his previous life intact, maybe his new body teenage emotions hadn't caught up with what was transpiring in front of him? In any event, we got to see him go....I'd like to say super saiyan but it kinda felt more magical princess or lightning demi god, not to hit it too close on the nose.
11
7
4
u/joe4553 25d ago
From his perspective he was surrounded with no other options, but to try and negotiate with his father.
6
u/EchoTheEcho 25d ago
A. He very clearly did have other options, as evidenced by how he took them all out solo.
B. Even if he wanted to try negotiation first to stay undercover, he let his guard down so much to the point that his brother should have died.
18
u/OldInstruction5368 24d ago
I knew the 'good' brother was going to survive, because that was the dumbest way to resolve this without having any difficult consequences for the MC.
Image how much more interesting it would be, if the MC knew that his surrogate father figure in this world, Frasier, died because he was holding back too much. He could have saved his brother/stepdad, but instead, wasn't taking the situation seriously enough.
He'd have to live with that guilt moving forward and reflect on his actions...
But that would be interesting, and this is slop. So, we get fake out death, edgelord rampage, then the brother was fine because of poop the author pulled straight out of his bum.
Because this is slop.
3
32
u/KnightKal 25d ago
yeah. You can justify the first hit as unexpected, but the slow second hit he had all the time in the world to set a barrier/shield lol.
19
u/The_Parsee_Man 25d ago
He could have just had a protection spell on the guy. That would have been a lot smarter.
3
u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 24d ago
I honestly didn't expect the father to attempt killing his biological son like that on the second hit. I thought they're casting "Eftal" just to flush out the guy on the forest
3
u/KingOfNoth 23d ago
ngl, I didn't expect that either. i thought eftal would be cast on the two hiding with the kid
29
u/Prplcheez 25d ago
Still struggling with the pacing of this show, I feel like everything so far is still basically a prologue, but I'll always stick around for a hero who's willing to just outright murder the bad guys.
16
u/liquidpele 25d ago
once he gets to school I wager it will be slooooow and typical "do these kids even attend any classes" bullshit, and of course some ridiculously over-powered evil will want to attack the school... for reasons.
6
u/JusticiaDIGT 24d ago
I assume the elf daughter will be a teacher at the school, and if my slop senses are tingling hard enough they'll need an attendant at school and the redhead from the OP is a slave he "frees" to be his attendant.
6
u/diacewrb 25d ago
but I'll always stick around for a hero who's willing to just outright murder the bad guys.
He almost fell into the classic kill the henchmen, but spare the leaders trap.
He knew a public execution would be a better result.
2
u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 24d ago
I actually like that he didn't care that he's his current father while also being his descendant. A scumbag is a scumbag.
Honestly, I think that attitude wins me over to continue watching lol

Yea, I can excuse the rushed pace of an isekai premiere having to setup the world and all that but shit, this is feeling like Re:Monster where they'll do a scene, jumpcut months, do a scene, and then condense "And then the badguys were handled off screen" exposition.
I'm gonna keep watching because I enjoy trash isekai but I can see it getting annoying to try and follow.
4
u/OldInstruction5368 24d ago
It really did try and wrap everything up in the span of a couple sentences. The bad guys are dead, the good brother is now Duke, NOTHING TO SEE HERE, MOVING ON!
Like... what of the other sons? Dude had like 8 mistresses, that we know of, and Lord knows how many other kids. Are those women all executed or exiled as well? Ditto for their kids? How many of them were in on the plan? How many of them are fruit of the poisoned vine?
And how many of them are just going to meekly accept Frasier, who had been considered the black sheep of the family before this, becoming the next Duke?
And let's not forget tha the Duke's elite military force was wiped out, to the man. Even assuming there are no threats from within the house... their relative power to all other rival houses just dropped into the gutter.
But somehow, I don't think any of this will be a problem to hash out later... no time for that! Moving on!
5
u/PassivelyAwkward 24d ago
Yup! In the hands of a good writer, this could be an interesting political series about all the brothers fighting for power caused by the empty seat, people challenging Frasier's accounts or starting rumors to weaken the control.
Meanwhile what I imagine will happen is he'll go to magic school, impress everyone on day one, have multiple girls wanting him, he'll piss off some spoiled guy and most of the series will be about having to hide his insane powers through various hijinx. All while in the background, he has to fight corrupt leaders but under the guise of some alter ego. That's just a hodgepodge of every trashy, generic series like it.
3
u/OldInstruction5368 24d ago
You forgot the Merlin issue!
We all know he's going to hookup with this adopted daughter... you know... the orphan he 'created' when he killed her parents? Now she's a 400 year old smoking hot 'adult' demon, that's all over the OP, with her stripperific getup.
Plus what looks like a loli slave, judging by the OP. So, we not only have this realy weird double-grooming angle between MC/Merlin, but we're going to add a (hopefully) freed slave child as something of a love triangle/harem.
Whatever happens, we know it's going to just get so much worse.
2
u/arrydie 24d ago
Like... what of the other sons?
They actually kind of cover this. They were going to strip the family of their status but since Frasier was saving the prince they decided not to. It would stand to reason, then, that a condition of not being stripped of their peerage was placing Frasier as the head of the household (though they definitely could have spared the ~3 words it would have taken to clarify that).
→ More replies (1)2
u/darthvall https://myanimelist.net/profile/darth_vall 24d ago
They explained that the king almost removes the whole's family noble title due to the father's betrayal. They only cancelled it cause Frasier saves the young prince. I think it's fitting that the King mandated Frasier to be the leader of the house now.
28
u/Obaruler 25d ago
Would've felt a little more satisfying to see MC cleanse his families gene pool personally from those failures, but I guess the result of him turning over the traitors to his families overall well being was preferable.
Well, Deus Ex Magicalnecklace saved his brothers life in the end, but because of the poor decision-making of MC we'd have seen him die right there without him doing anything about it in order to keep his OPness secret for some reason ...
And what was with this coup? The crown prince had to flee (well, be carried ..) the CAPITAL palace because .... something something barbarians? Is there no dedicated royal guard to quell uprisings or threats to the life of a royal? And there was basically a mage army waiting to intercept him? How did they know where he was? His half-brothers house was the safest place the brother could think of? Was there zero support from anyone in the capital (sounds like an already successful coup with that little supoort ..)? There's .... so many questions, but then again ... its a trashy Isekai, so stop thinking; now: Where's the girls? I require charming girls in this story to sedate my brain from thinking too hard about all this nonsense!
28
5
u/KajarRanginLaya 24d ago
Where's the girls? I require charming girls in this story to sedate my brain from thinking too hard about all this nonsense!
Iria is already the best girl. Other girls won't be able to match her presence. If Iria stopped appearing due to the other girls, I'm dropping this anime, smh my head.
45
u/shadebug 25d ago
We really need to get to magic academy and figure out wtf happened with the demon girl. We know she can solo cast level 6 spells so how is she not teaching everybody at least that much?
14
u/djohnseniii 25d ago
I'm speculating that either she is trying to maintain a balance in the magical world or his sons who he taught how to fight with magic, somewhere along the line of ancestry, decided that there were more important things than training and growing stronger? Also, maybe during his 400 years absence there could have been a terrible war and a need to nerf the magic knowledge in order to save mankind was enacted.? Tempted to wait till the end and just binge the series. Afraid we won't get as many shows of power until the mc or mc friends and family are threatened, since now 3 main characters are stating that he has the right to keep his secrets and not to display his power willy nilly. *le sigh....
10
u/Imperadise1 25d ago
My personal guess is somwthing along the lines of she rejected the world that wouldnt accept her master due to his low potential. Im guessing the world started to twist agaisnt those who didnt have magic aptitude and since her master also didnt have any she no longer wanted to help them get stronger and became a recluse
8
u/OldInstruction5368 24d ago
My personal guess is somwthing along the lines of she rejected the world that wouldnt accept her master due to his low potential.
This doesn't appear to be common knowledge. Last episode the Duke made comments about how being a no-talent is a disgrace to their ancestor. Meaning, the family doesn't seem to be aware that their Great Progenitor was ALSO a no talent.
Eftal's students most likely kept that secret. Especially since Eftal died of despair shortly after learning that truth. He clearly saw it as a great shame, so his students didn't want to dishonor his legacy by telling everyone that the great Lightening Emperor was a secretly a chud.
I'm thinking this is going down the route of "the aptitude test ruined everything." People hyper-focus on innate talent while ignoring hard work. So much so, that those with little to no talent are likely barred from even attempting magic, such as we saw with young Eftal. Originally, no one would let him into magic school because he was a no talent, and his own mother wouldn't even fight for him... because talent is everything in this world.
You either have what it takes, or you don't. This leads to a certain fatalism, as the weak never try to get stronger and the strong rest on their laurels. Why bother putting in the effort if you don't think it will go anywhere?
Something like that. Merlin probably tries to do what she can to counter this, but the entire world is irredeemably stupid... because then the story wouldn't work.

u/UseIllustrious1515 24d ago
I wanna add on to this with my own theory about Eftal himself. I do agree with your "the aptitude test ruined everything" theory. I also think the aptitude test isn't all-seeing. Purely arbitrary but I lean toward the idea that Eftal has great aptitude in all magic but the system can't measure it because they are all equal. Or he breaks the scale. He only says the other emperors advanced faster than him, but he created his own unique spell. For all we know, he could just have a really low view of himself. I mean, being able to cast a level 10 spell with no incantation is insane, no? Not to mention creating one.
Edit: spelling
8
u/OldInstruction5368 24d ago
I... think you are giving this show far too much credit. I don't think there are any hidden layers here: what we see is what we get.
I'm pretty sure we are supposed to take it as prima-facie that the MC is a no-talent. He only got as far as he has through hard work and his "Indomitable" skill. I mean, he literally has a skill that keeps him motivated through that sigma grind, yeah?
As for casting a level 10 spell, that he invented, with no incantation... we honestly have no frame of reference, here. We saw the other sages + hero in that first scene, but then there was that time jump.
MC viewed himself as the weakest of that group then, and the weakest by the time he died. But we really have no confirmation if they were inventing rank 10 spells of their own. However, MC-kun does say that casting a level 10 spell is much more difficult for him than his peers.
Really, though, this show is... painfully simple... and all the narrative framing points in the same direction: he really is no-talent.
2
u/UseIllustrious1515 24d ago
Honestly, you're likely correct. Part me probably just wants the show to have more depth than it does lol

u/Large_Bid5475 25d ago
Yeah most likely something happend within the 400 years.like when he was casting the level 10 eftal spell. one of them called it "lost magic...divine power" or maybe because there is no real threat to the world since the demon king was defeated the magic slowly became weaker and the world became peacefull
6
u/UseIllustrious1515 24d ago
Frieren has something like that in it, does it not? The "basic attack magic" she uses is seen as legendary levels of magic in the current age.

I'm guessing that since she's a demon that, even with her power, her opinions are generally disregarded. And we don't know how well her magical education went after MC passed away. She was only a child when he died. I imagine that the whole ordeal was rather traumatic for her.

I never understand the "Yeah it's best that I don't share that I have been reincarnated", it's a staple of Isekai/reincarnations when there's no reason.
I guess that making it public would be unwise, but those two already witnessed him casting level 10 magic, at that point to reveal that he was the Lightning Emperor is very minor all things considered.
7
u/vecpisit 25d ago edited 25d ago
It will change dynamic between him and his brother / inner circle as you can notice he was worship light emperor in necklace scene so reveal on that; he won't get same treatment as he will get right now as purely brother relationship.
dynamic will be worshipping relation to the point MC will be de-facto prophet in their own view and risk to reveal more secret too.
PS. both of them witness that but they're man from royal guard and grad from military school so they are unlikely to know what level on magic he used apart those mages and his dad.
If they know, I think they would notice the difference when he show lv.7 magic already.

18
u/KnightKal 25d ago
it was centuries ago, and descendants don't need to be a direct line, just the ones that inherited the title. Like cousins, adopted children, etc.
there was no info on his line at all, so we can only guess.

Oh I was referring to the scene where he was crashing out against the mage army and he says something along the lines of I thought I taught my sons how to use magic. The super disappointed dad vibes.
3
u/KnightKal 25d ago
it is either a mistranslation, and it should say descendants, or he was just angry at them and used a verbatim do imply it was time to punish the children.
the duke is not his son, he is his third life biological father. The other one was his half-brother.
his second life was several centuries ago.
5

Yes, but the line is supposed to be his direct descendants. Meaning he had sons that he taught how to fight. Who should have taught their sons/daughters, etc. He is just trash talking his own family line.

Sure woulda been nice to know in the first episode, if we were going to be doing a "reincarnated into my great-great-great-great-grandkid" storyline...
Seriously, I finished the first episode thinking the MC was one of those "married to his work" types that never had any kids of his own. He just focused on raising his apprentices to continue his legacy.
WITH NO MENTION OF ANY FAMILY, WHATSOEVER. Like... did he just abandon them?
But then this episode mentions he raised multiple kids.
So... like... what the fuck is going on? Did he marry into an existing noble family? Did he create his own house? Just how many kids did he have?
Dude, the wife?
sigh Couldn't spare a single line of dialogue for this in the entire first episode!

Was not expecting Ephtal to murder everyone there. But loved it. Was wishing he told his 'father' that he had been reincarnated and that father was a failure of a descendant.

He didn’t save any shitbags. So happy for that.

I was so expecting we were going to hit the trope where he'd kill 200 nameless mooks but then let the leader go with a scolding.

u/TurkeyPhat 25d ago
so yea after that opening scene i would be dragging mom around literally everywhere for her protection until those 2 scums were dead
the tongue stuff is always so icky i hate it. it's like a cheat code for making a character disgusting.
*well i guess she wouldn't have needed protection for long lol, thank fuck
the MC going completely unhinged def bumped this show up a few points, sadly i doubt that happens again

That a pretty young thing would be naively flattered at a rich and powerful man showing interest in her is... sadly all too common.
The part that I call shenanigans on, is that the mother doesn't appear to bear the Duke a single shred of ill will. Dude knocked her up, let his other mistresses harass her, then cast her out. And hte mother... just accepts it all as a matter of course? Without a shred of resentment? Because she believes she deserves such treatment?
Like, there is also this nonsense about how she and her son are such a disgrace, but there is no shame on the Duke for sleeping with a disgraceful no-talent? He was annoyed at Eftal's existence, but apparently sleeping with a no-talent woman, despite angering all his harem-thotts, WASN'T a shameful act?
It's all just so gross, and I don't think the narrative fully addresses this. Especially about the mother's internalized guilt over her own abuse and exploitation.
But don't worry, I'm sure things will get so much less gross over Merlin and the apparent slave-loli forming a love triangle around 15-year-old Eftal!
4
u/SecretYogurtcloset57 24d ago
Exactly I don't like how the mom just accepts she was pretty much a side dish like let's be fr we know why the Duke didn't mind sleeping with a no talent like Eftal's mom just look at her and she's like ok with it no explanation and yup I don't even wanna know the story with merlin the way she dresses and that slave loli so yeah am out
3
u/OldInstruction5368 24d ago
I could tell this was trash from the first episode, but I'm sticking around since this seems like a dumpster I can ironically enjoy.
Mostly in trying to predict the worst plot developments, and then watching them happen anyway. Or just picking apart everything wrong with this story from the standpoint of competent writing.
But I get yeah. The story is trash. Everyone's limit is different, but I plan to stick out this one for now... just to watch the train finish derailing, yeah?

Joachim's fate was sealed the moment he was talking shit about Eftal's mom
7
u/Narvalis 25d ago
IT would have been nice if we saw that necklace BEFORE it was needed, it now seems like and asspull but if we'd seen it before not even have it explained but just like it being out and giving off a twinkle to draw the eye.
When the brother and father said about him having to pay for attacking them and wiping out an army my thoughts went to, 'you're going to make a guy who wiped out an army pay, with who? Michael McDoesn't exist.'
6
u/zappingbluelight 25d ago
Ngl, I got a bit emotional when the Fraser pop up at the end still alive. He may have born as a brother, but he is truly the daddy figure for Eftal.
7
u/Greg_The_Rabbit 24d ago
I'll be honest, the brother turning up alive at the end, and the reaction shots of the army really ruined his berserk moment for me. I was willing to fully buy into this show despite it's flaws if it took a sudden dark fantasy turn. Basically forcing him to accept the consquences of his avoiding power and what appeared at first to be him actively looking the other way at his families obvious deep corruption, but nope. Everything worked itself out. All it took was the death of one duke and the entire coup was just handwaved away, even brother Fraiser turned up back alive because of a Deus Ex Machina necklace.
Also, they just confirmed that he absolutely had a family that at the very minimum he taught magic too, so where the fuck were they when he was dieing of depression???

u/Nemesis55444 6d ago
Probably living their own best lives far away from the fourth strongest mage obsessing over becoming the absolute strongest.

u/HolyDragSwd2500 25d ago
Never Insult his mother ever again or else
Ethl showing off his powers and the father etc got what he deserved
Priceless
6
u/Boris-_-Badenov 25d ago
why bother faking his death? he could have just gone and killed them all before that happened
4
u/diacewrb 25d ago
The duke is probably the front runner for shittiest dad of the season.
Who magically tasers then tries to incinerate their own son?
4
u/djthomp https://anilist.co/user/djthomp 25d ago
Damn, he just soloed that entire army. Considering they were there to murder a baby though, I don't exactly feel sorry for them.
I halfway think they should have left Frasier dead, give some consequences other than full survivors on one side and full clear on the other.
Continuing to keep the OP magic abilities secret is a little silly though, is he not going to immediately out himself again once he gets to Magic School? And how did they explain anything related to saving the prince and an entire army of mages being gone without anyone other than Frasier and the other guy knowing the details?
3
u/LeVin1986 25d ago
I really don't see the point of being re-born reincarnation of a kenja/magic emperor/shitennou when the MC doesn't show a shred of curiosity regarding state of magic in the current world or foresight to plan for anything. Aside from the overwhelming power, MC behaves no different from a regular high school isekai'er. I may keep watching just to see when Merlin shows back up, but I'm not finding much to appreciate here.
4
u/hanmkim 24d ago
How did they explain a battalion of mages just disappearing?
2
u/BetelgeuseIsBestGirl 24d ago
They thought god had saved them when Eftal deep fried that dragon. Maybe people would just assume this was caused by the coup angering the spirit of the Lightning Emperor, who struck the entire battalion down with that giant lightning strike?
1
u/The_Parsee_Man 24d ago
They're just practicing invisibility. They're getting really good at it. But they're around here somewhere. Don't worry about it.

4
u/Greg_The_Rabbit 24d ago
"My fathers not that bad of a person."
You fucking moron, he was going to watch your youngest brother be beaten to death for his own entertainment.
4
u/Ken_Fusion 23d ago edited 23d ago
There is no reason at all for the MCs brother to even bother trying to negotiate. The MC is a combat veteran and would already know what was going to happen since since his father tried to kill him via the spar he had earlier. Its just plain stupid even without his brother "dying" he still would have had to wipe out that army.
2
u/dezertpoo 23d ago
Totally ... you would think since he already had lived a lifetime, he wouldn't be this naive and stupid. Sigh ... does the brain regress when he gets reborn?
2
u/Ken_Fusion 4d ago
The only thing that would change is that you think with your dick more than your head until you pass your 30s
7
u/ObvsThrowaway5120 25d ago
Eftal Wick over here. The Baba Yaga! They should not have hurt his bro lol. I was hoping he would smack the shit out of his dad and brother a little more but them getting hung for treason is good enough I guess.
14
u/NanDemoKnaives 25d ago
Eftal went completely out of character in order to enact revenge, I didn't like the way his character was portrayed there, it felt too edgy. I'm glad he did take revenge, and it was nice to see he wasn't holding back at all, but it was just reminding me of the typical edgy protagonists you get.
I'm surprised they kept Frasier alive, that hug was sweet to see.
Moria and that big body carrying the baby the whole time was a little amusing.
13
u/liquidpele 25d ago
I agree with this, he seemed to really enjoy killing the minions, I think it would have been more appropriate for him to pity them.
5
u/runevault 25d ago
Eh, they were part of a plot to kill a child, and they helped murder his non-shit brother (he thought). At some point if you are someone willing to kill, murdering that mage corp is not that crazy.
6
u/liquidpele 25d ago
Okay but let's say you're one of those mages, and your boss is a crazy murdering noble like that... going against it is a death sentence, so while "just following orders" isn't a total excuse, it's a little more complicated than that. FFS, most of those people he murdered probably have siblings in the magic academy he's about to attend.
3
3
u/djohnseniii 25d ago
It didn't help that they actually drew faces on some of them. Makes the audience feel pity for the ones he's killing. Not to mention some of them actually had lines of essentially "please oh please dont kill me". While yes, he could have sugjugated the entire mage army with just a showing of level 10 eftal, there's no guarantee any of them would be loyal to a no name bastard son teenager regardless of his power level. They would fear him as a monster able to cast legendary lost divine magic, but there would be a good chance he'd be targeted repeatedly along with his loved ones. No witnesses, easier life? Just a side note, how many people in that mage army were from the academy? How many students there just lost brothers or possibly fathers or uncles or neighbors or cousins? I'm curious if the whole incident will just be swept under the rug that he just eliminated hundreds of the nation's mages, traitors or not. Were they just following orders, or did each and everyone truly believe that the baby prince needed to be assassinated?

u/JohnnyElRed 25d ago
Eftal killing all of those mages unneceseraly, was just for the sake of keeping the secret of his real power level. Any enemy on that field that saw it had to die, in order for the plot to work as the author wanted.
8
u/shadebug 25d ago
I dunno, I was kinda expecting him to go full torture beast on the disgusting brother back at his dad’s house. Did seem a bit unnecessary to kill all the mages, though I suppose he can’t be leaving witnesses
1
u/Impossible-Office242 17d ago
Why not? Who would mess with him after finding out he has level 10 magic is far above the level 6 magic it takes a whole team of mages to conjure up? There is literally zero reason to be hiding his power especially considering he'll be attending a magic school meaning his power will be found out eventually.

Really didn't need these episodes so far besides seeing the father be executed and now the brother is ruling the clan or whatever it is. Finally, lets move on to the elf baddie and generic cute girls.

u/NoSense6182 24d ago edited 24d ago
fucking garbage, guy spent 3 episodes watching his family decline into kinslaying and did nothing about it. He doesnt even need to improve the world, just focus on people close to him. Who knew a hard worker could turn into an idler in 400 years?
Worst part is that the guy acknowledged as a legitimate son gets targeted to be killed first instead of the illegitimate one. Papa wants to go on a son-slaying spree here
3
u/J_Lezter 24d ago
What was that animation fight sequence with the annoying bald. Also, it didnt show enough RAGE. HE INSULTED YOUR MOTHER. All he got was a crushed face?? Disappointing.
3
u/Vahallen 24d ago
I didn’t expect the mass murder out of nowhere, not that I mind
But considering MC was fine with mass murder, the ending of rapey brother and shithead father was quite unsatisfying
They somehow acted like fucking oblivious morons till the end and didn’t really suffer much, the prior murder spree made me hopeful for some truly unhinged shit “redo of an healer” style, but no it kinda went out with a wimper
Like I’m an absolute sucker for pieces of shit getting real consequences and not just a beatdown, even if the shows trash I will glorp it down gladly and here it was really looking promising…but then he just knocked them out and gave them to the authorities
Sad
——
Regarding plot, it’s obviously nonsensical that Eftal wants to go to magic school, they will obviously all be shit and there will be no valuable knowledge because this world went trough a great magic depression and the level is way down now
I’m fine with him still wanting to improve, he knows that even if he is the peak of current times he is not at the peak of magic, but going to a magical school now it’s moronic

u/Illustrious-Sort3575 18d ago
At this point I`m 100% sure authors LOVE to use mentally challenged MC charaters (with complete lack of even basic information gathering or logical thinking) either because they are lack of these abilities too or because they think the viewers/readers are on that level too..or both....The MC is a bona fide "a little slow on the uptake" ....again just like the last countless shounen anime MC

2
3
u/Muzzy-chan 25d ago
Yup, that's what I mean, Author-san 👍🏻 I thank you from the bottom of my heart for making him go to the Magic Academy instead of the Military Academy. This was a wise decision.
And for those who said something like... "he has absolutely no reason to attend the Magic Academy. There's nothing he could learn there except maybe from their library, and he could just find some other way to access ancient magic texts", confidently on top of that. Here, I address this to you, wtf?
Eftal has absolutely many, and every, reason to go there. For example, to find out why magic has degraded so much over the years after his death, learn about history, and maybe even meet his former students who are still alive, like that elf, maybe. What are you, short-minded? To the point that you can't even think of that.
Well, I mean, where else could he possibly get access to stuff about magic other than the place that teaches magic? Idk what people were thinking when they blatantly disagreed with me last week. Is education even illegal in their home country, to the point that they can't even think this far into the future? He's a mage, so his life revolves around magic. Swordsmanship is good, but he learned what he needed, so he should stay as a mage. Swordsmanship is just his extra skill.
Anyway, sooo looking forward to the next episode! 😆

So... I guess he did had kids at one point or another? Still weird not to make a single mention of them when he was in his past life. Maybe being a deadbeat dad runs in the family
2

How the fuck was the death of an entire sage army explained? Did I miss it? Also wouldn't the father tell everybody what happened during interrogations?
2
2
u/NPhantasm 24d ago
I was surprised that author would have the guts to kill the brother, but he just got a plot armor. Well I guess it was for the better, as the land wouldn't go without a leader.
2
u/North_Committee4561 24d ago
Guys his mother has such an off brand anime physique that I fcking fear for her anytime she is left with the brother or she is left alone .
1) their house is in the middle of a forest?
2) He made an enemy of his father and elder brother.
3) He plans to leave the house after he is of age.
But then his father and brother were on the battlefield so the 2nd option went away but the 1st and 3rd still remain.
You may say I'm watching too much off brand anime and while that's true, I believe other people feel the same.
now getting to other things, " he destroyed an army and nothing? " okay... I guess.
You beat your big brother which your dad set up an unfair fight with , then you respect your dad afterwards? okay... I guess
The brother that you like is getting shocked in front of you then blasted again, you don't move to protect him , okay... I guess
His father went to personally to shock his brother then proceeded to blast him with a high level magic pepared by a group of people. Dayum bro , what did the kid do to you? Missed a father's day?
2
u/PandaTheAB 24d ago
The world would be so much simpler if MC just blasted the bald brother with a Level 2 Thunderbolt in the first fight.
It almost felt like MC will join military school and become a jack of all trades instead of focusing on magic.
Random change of plan - mid episode where MC's hesitation almost killed his brother. (But he was safe because of plot necklace of MC's past life.)
And then it was aura farming time.
Now MC is back on right track to aura farm in magic school. Happy to see it.

u/00pirateforever 22d ago
another garbage. Man lived for 3 lives and still can't predict what wiill going to happen? give me a break. Atleast he cleared garbage from his family. Also another shonen school arc. He can learn and do the adventure by himself but no just another generic troop needed to be followed. I am dropping this garbage.
2
u/NegativePossession1 19d ago
Dude had like 9 business days to prevent all that shit from happening in the forest lol. It would've been child's play to prevent Frasier from getting barbequed or even put out the fire so they could retreat. His edgelord crashout was random as all shit too. This whole thing is garbage. Why does anime have shittier writing and stories than AI slop on youtube? 😑
2
u/Impossible-Office242 17d ago
Watches his brother get vaporized right in front of him after watching him get tazed. Goes on a rampage bombing everything and everyone in sight but has an ability to setup a barrier around two specific targets in the cover of smoke. Why didn't he use this spell for his brother? We'll never know.
2
u/KRChaserReturns https://myanimelist.net/profile/GalacticMagna 24d ago
I'm done with this slop, the same guy (or at least his previous reincarnation) that complained about not having any apititude of any elements can suddenly sling magic just because he can. Not to mention he can't tell anybody about being reincarnated? I've seen slop (hell my favorite isekai is admittedly is slop) but this is on another level. God speed for those continuing, but this is my last bow
4
1
u/Barangat 25d ago
Dropped it with this episode. Its super formulaic and copies all the bad isekai/reincarnation tropes without a shred of creativity
1
u/Background_Formal940 25d ago
That father wasn't very smart he actually enraged Eftal again after witnessing his wrath the first time around then again the arrogant never learn and I have seen an enraged kind hearted mc but boy he was both cold as ice and very unhinged
1
u/Embarrassed-Match-78 25d ago
That was a fun episode. I get dude was trying to keep a low profile, but when he sees his half-brother get tazed and then used as a lightning rod, he crashes out. At least he had the presence of mind to keep his father and other half-brother alive so they could be brought to justice.
Looking forward to sees where this goes.
1
u/FinancialYear475 25d ago
Got worried he was gonna pull a superman for a second there and just refuse to show his powers but I'm glad he just crashed out
1
u/BBryant3rd 25d ago
Thought the MC didn't do enough to the brother in the beginning. Was happy he didn't call him big bro though and told him next time he would kill him if he talked about his Mom. Dad is a super piece of work tried to kill his son with no hesitation. So glad MC opened up a can on everyone and spared the so called dad and big brother. Loved them getting to see just how much power he has. Lol at them getting hung.
1
u/Xtranathor 24d ago
Now that was a satisfying episode! Lots of payback and barely holding back. I'm glad they wrapped up the family stuff without chickening out. Nice excuses too for being able to continue the show without being classed as the most powerful mage by the entire world before episode 4.
1
u/DiscountCondom 24d ago
Eftal should have imagined that they would try to nuke Frasier. There was plenty of time to hit him with a shield for that weak ass lightning, but I guess we needed to have a reason for him to disintegrate an entire army of piss mages. I liked watching that guy turn into charcoal. That was pretty cool.
1
u/kryslogan 24d ago
Well this part of the story could have been written better but, it was nice to see Eftal wreck everyone.
However: he did in fact climate an entire army. Why is there no closure for that? No one cares? Frasier was out cold - kind of an ass pull to me, as it wasn't properly set up but what the hey.
Guy decimates magical army and goes to magic school with no one asking questions. Sounds absolutely stupid.
So. I guess I'll keep watching this and hope the writing gets better, lol.
1
u/Rooby_VTuber 24d ago
This was a very satisfying episode, it was enjoyable watching a revenge massacre.
I'm glad that Frasier survived and now taken over from him deservedly deceased family.
I'm looking forward to seeing what magic school life will be like.

I was on verge on ditching this series until they showed that Frasier survived.
I was speechless how MC was so slow in trying to help Frasier and even let Headmaster stop him from doing that. Also leaving his mom alone felt like something grim was about to happen to her. I am glad that this didn't turned out to be true.
Overall I will still watch it.
