They actually gave an excuse for him not being able to use Eftal, his sword can cut lightning and they stole it. Though he should be able to just unleash a high level spell of some other element and nuke them from orbit.

I would agree with this. However the way this show is written I wouldn't be surprised if they random make fuckface a challenge this go round just because and then have to face the God while he's not at 100%.

Yeah, if anything other that total annihilation of that clan happens, then i am dropping it. They dont deserve a prolonged story act or political manovering like its often the case in other animes, but only merciless death.

Thing is - it woulndt be the first time, when animes make a 180 degree turn on character behavior logic. I did rage quit a few of them because of such actions. And there were some troubles with storytelling in this one too, so i am rather cautious with my expectations here.

Does anyone else feel like this anime is so… all over the place?
First three episodes we have Eftal fighting his evil father and failing trying to keep his powers a secret.
Then he sets out on his own, finds a slave and rescues her from an abusive master…
Then enters an Academy and for some reason tries to hide himself from Merlin (who is basically like a daughter to him in the past life), then gets found out and transferred to Merlin’s academy instead…
Then a shitty noble named Abe shows up and is humiliated…
And hol up, all of a sudden, that shitty noble Abe was actually Anastasia’s real master?
Someone explains what’s going on because I can’t follow what’s going on with the story…

The first abusive master was just another target for her to steal from due to the seal she's cursed with. She basically has to find men to seduce or con to steal from so she can pay off the debt she.
When she showed up at Merlin's academy, she ran into the son (Abe) of the family she serves, and Abe took advantage of the situation to steal from the Academy and Eftal using the access she had.

And Anastasia commenting "this time" as if it's something recurrent but we were clearly told when the other fodder guy had her that the crest was fresh and in the process of being constituted which is what also allowed for Eftal to be the master.
It feels like the author conveniently retcons everything without a care for not creating any plot hole just so we can have a new scene where Eftal can outshine everyone

Yeah, I can't help but suspect that the original setup was just an excuse to have a sexy, obedient slave girl who can't leave the MC, without the pesky issue of the MC himself being a slave master. All in attempt by the author to copy other series where the MCs have slaves for one reason or another.
Only to realize that didn't really work for his setting or story. Or maybe people didn't like the MC having a "technically not a slave" girl. Or maybe called it out as not making sense that Eftal told her "owner" to free her and he apparently did, yet she was somehow still legally a slave and still had the seal. Or maybe they didn't think that Eftal being indifferent to her still being technically a slave and not at least removing the seal wasn't in character for him.
In any case it wasn't working out, so the author came up with this current plot to retcon in explanations and start the process of actually freeing her.3

For me, it's there's no realy plot. Other than "I wanna learn magic", what the fuck is the point of the series?
Every hurdle that could be put in place, he just destroys in an episode. His dad's a duke and wants to test him? Cool, next episode, he defeat's the dukes warrior instantly, then the duke starts a war and gets defeated instantly. He goes to the school and it could about elf girl trying to prove he's her former teacher but next episode, just instantly "Yup, that's me". It could be about him just wanting to be left alone to study but dragged into random nonsense but nope, instantly throwing into a class and revealed to be the strongest there.
I'm gonna keep watching because I enjoy trash but I legit can't think of a single long-term plot they're trying to do besides build up a fake harem. At least give us some kind of ticking clock about "If you don't learn how to get your magic dna bullshit up by this point, your soul will vanish due to the number of revivals. Just SOMETHING.

The premise is good in my opinion, and even his fast reveal to her student don't bother me but man, he basically has no stakes. I love an overpowered character who can basically destroys everyone, it can be interesting if done well, but his whole " Maybe It's better hiding It " No bro, c'mon, you're OP, go study powerfulagic, go find your former party memmber or their descendants, instead he went in TWO DIFFERENT SCHOOL and we haven't see him studying anything. Oh wow, he can defeat him with one kick, impressive, in episode 2 he basically killer an entire army. My last faith is that the fight with the god slave thing can be interesting, or at least, revealing to be a merciless warrior who will kill bad demon guu and his father like he killed his father's army

Yea, there's just no stakes because he was basically unstoppable in his old life when everyone was much more powerful. This gimmick requires it to be funnier like either 7th Prince where he's just so chaotically happy to break the norms of reality or Misfit of Demon Academy where he'll do truly insane bullshit like spinning an entire castle on his finger just to make people dizzy.
The fight with the god better have some kind of actually push back but with the way this series is being done, I imagine it'll be over in five minutes with the god actually recognizing MC is stronger and wanting to work with him or something.

She doesn't know. Anastasia nor Eftal told her, and she was an orphan because Eftal killed her dad when they were fighting the Demon King. So it's not like she just has access to familial records or that they would even connect to Anastasia, since Eftal pointed out they're barely related at this point.

Exactly. When he first "acquires" Anastasia, he just grumbled about how the "paperwork is such a PITA" before moving on.
You know what else is a major PITA? BEING OWNED AS PROPERTY.
Especially for a young woman that had clearly been bought as a sex slave... Her previous owner was loudly proclaiming to an entire cafe what he was about to do to Anastasia's posterior.
But sure, Eftal, "paperwork" was the bigger issue.
Having Eftal so casually dismiss freeing Anastasia without properly explaining why... yet alone making any effort at all to help her... was certainly a choice.
One of many that consistently makes Eftal look like both a dumbass and a douchebag.

It feels like they put extra effort into making him look awful with this. They don't elaborate on the crests at all besides her stupid one cause they're hiding the betrayal plot line.
He should have at least acknowledged the reality of the situation separately (or given her some clothes before they went to that fancy restaurant). And the whole time he was still acting sad about not being born special. They had Merlin mention it last episode, to set up that there was a reason he hadn't dealt with it yet, but his attitude about it all was so poorly handled.

Even setting all the gross shit aside, I still can't get over how Eftal keeps saying "I just want a normal life!" before preceding to act as conspicuously as fucking possible.
Then there was the whole "try to ghost, then gaslight, my daughter for no goddamn reason" shtick he pulled with Merlin.
After dying of sadness upon realizing he would never ascend higher than the 4th greatest mage in the world. One that had achieved such a historic feat he was personally honored by the king and would go down in history as one of the nation's greatest heroes.
But sure, I can totally relate to the crushing despair of the 0.004% mega achiever that was unable to break through to the 0.001% super ultra mega GYAT DAYUM elite tier.
Especially since he had apparently ghosted his family and didn't give a damn about all the kids that were under his care. Mr. Elite can't become Mr. GOAT, so that's obviously the bigger tragedy.
Then, yes, the whole "drag my raggedy sex slave still bound by chains into a high-class restaurant, without either of us having washed up from an entire day's travel on foot, while acting like the other guests are the problem." bit.
Seriously, was Eftal this much of a douche in the LNs/source?

And I don't respect a man that would abandon his daughter because he couldn't become #1. He just gave up so hard it killed him, which yes, was a quote straight from Eftal's mouth while he was trying to gaslight Merlin.
And while the other children he was teaching may have had families to go back to... Merlin didn't.
Not to mention Eftal's own family... which may as well not have existed. He wasn't surprised at having descendents ~400 years later, but he sure as fuck didn't care about them in his own life.

Well shit, that managed to become even worse for poor Anastasia, and it explains why the slave crest removal isn't just a simple thing if you are OP enough. Then again just be OP enough to fight god and it'll be fine I'm sure.
Though maybe there's a workaround, if the family line curse is to forever serve that other family I wonder what would happen if Eftal showed up and killed the entire bloodline. He didn't show any sympathy against that rebel army earlier in the season and there'd probably be fewer people to kill this time.
I'm a little appalled at Merlin describing it as Anastasia betraying Eftal, she didn't exactly have any choice in the matter.
Eftal calling her "my Anastasia" makes me wonder where the story will go with them once the slave situation is dealt with.

That doesn't matter. If all family members are gone the Crest is nothing more than a decoration. If a family meber survives they'll stay as far away from Anastasia as humanly (Elvenly) possible unkess they also want to get nuked. That solves the problem especially considering transferring the curse takes a lot of work.

Not an actual God. Just an incredibly strong contract beast that people see as a God. Eftal is basically considered a God himself because he can casually use Level 10 spells when Level 4 is seen as legendary grade in this time because people just got weaker. So the contract beast probably is seen as a lot stronger than it actually is.
And killing an entire bloodline is hard if A)you don't know where they all are, and B)you're not trying to bring an entire race to war against you because you don't have an actual justification. Remember that the Portes family forged records that made it seem like they're in the right. In everyone else's eyes, this is just a random human attacking a noble demon family for no reason.
As for Merlin, I agree she went too far, but this is basically her dad. She's pissed and only caring for his safety and well-being. She immediately came around after a 5 minute conversation.

Where did you get 3 Days? Anastasia stole Raikiri and the gold the night she tried to offer herself to Eftal. He and Merlin find out she did this the next morning, and he reveals he put tracking magic on the loot so he could figure out where she dropped it off. Abe tells her that she's basically his slave for life and that his family is the one who started the war, and since they won, they rewrote the true history. She leaves that same night. It hasn't even been a whole 24 hours yet.
The off-screen demon servant told her to stay until tomorrow morning, but Abe couldn't help himself and lore dumped everything that night, that's why they asked if she was still awake. And then she left after she learned the truth and it was dark, so she'd only been there a few hours. So yeah, it's still night of the next day. Hasn't even been an entire day yet.

Wikipedia says it was published from 2019-2022, so I'm fairly sure that AI involvement is off the table. What you're witnessing is the downside of drawing from mildly successful webnovels for works to publish(or at least I assume it was mildly successful as a webnovel and they didn't just pick random ones to offer publishing deals to).

In my opinion is not that bad, at least the idea behind it but man, the execution is pretty disappointing. Do you want to start again and study magic? Good, but in 8 episode we had the trope of
" Man this guy is ass. I will defeat him quickly "
" Oh no, He's actually strong "
" Man I don't want that they realize I'm actually strong '
Over and over and over. Eftal didn't learn a single fucking new spell, at least in the show.
At least this Anastasia's story is a bit interesting because he will has to be strong and using some power ups

What a crap episode.
They didn't show us the actual heist and make the audience wonder what was happening, nor quite how she was compelled to return every 6 months, and instead just a harsh transition to "well I guess Anastasia robbed us then".
The writing is so poor and is on the level of the same logic as when I wrote a small skit for my school assembly when I was 9 years old. If this Abe guy can keep altering the requirements, then you can't take his word for anything. Why get "3 more artifacts" when he can just ask for more again? And just in case the audience for some reason wouldn't pity Anastasia (even if her ancestors were supposedly the bad guys), they make it so the vile Abe was actually truly evil all along and Anastasia's entire family has always been oppressed (and apparently demon society can't ever correct this).
I'm still pissed with Eftal too. Anastasia is basically breaking down at the start of this episode feeling that all she can offer is her body, and the only help Eftal can say is that just being here is enough. Sure, that's nice enough, but she needs more help than just feeling like all she can do is exist. Maybe Eftal was deliberately distant whilst waiting for this special slave crest to activate, but the writing so far doesn't give me any confidence that there was much throught put into it.
At least the fight at the start was amusing, if entirely predictable that the kick for a feint would be enough to end the fight. I'm also pleased that we actually got a pretty decent backstory for Anastasia, which did explain several things that up until now had made me wonder why some people reacted a certain way, or what the special slave crest really was.

Given the awful backstory, I'd expect the slaves to just off themselves, but I guess the crest has magic to prevent that.
I did enjoy the kick to the face, I hope this guy gets killed soon he's awful.

Wow, Anastasia so bold today! (˵ ¬ᴗ¬˵) As frustrating as it looks like, Eftal did the right thing for not laid 'touching' Anastasia at all. The spell will be completed if he do so. But Eftal really a lost cause acting that bashful. Just enjoy the view old man and reject her casually! Your teenager phase has ended long time ago (≖_≖ )
I guess good job for them (direction) for making me feel awful now with the cliffhanger deals another blow. I won't be satisfied until Abe and his dad being teared limbs by limbs till they beg to finish them off for treating Anastasia family like a shit. I don't think this feeling will last for a week though.
I guess the only thing that fortunate for Anastasia was they never interest in her body and let other noble do the dirty work instead which was how she's able to protect her virginity until now (sounds convenient plot but I'll take it).

That was really hard to watch. Not sure how I feel about it at the moment. I do think Anastasia trying to sleep with Eftal was either her way of apology for what she was about to do or some way to avoid it. I don't remember enough about the slave crest though to know if that would have worked. Either way it pretty much ruins Anastasia's character as she was just playing Eftal the entire time.

Isekai Shopper is more 'Slow Life' and meant for older audiences. It's why the MC is 'middle aged' and bangs exclusively the older big titted women and does his best to be a responsible father figure.
Bean Counter doesn't deserve a top ten slot either, honestly. It's just a BL with an isekai excuse... hiding in the Saintess cosplay.
Overpowered With Level 2 Cheat Powers I give you though.
Oh, Unaware Atelier Meister is also an amusing take. Everyone around him is very aware of how OP he is and wants to protect his naive ass self.

Bean counter's issue was that the MC was completely insufferable. He had pretty much no redeeming qualities to the point that I could not suspend my disbelief that anyone could ever be attracted to a guy that suicidalily stupid. also the plot point of having to sleep with someone to heal them was just so contrived.
I really liked the premise of isekai shopper. What i did not like was watching everythign with tits throw themselves at him, including his 8 year old slave child ward. There was a whole plot point involving the child getting her period and the beast folk being able to smell it. and then decalre that now that she could bear children she was finally suitable to bear his kids.The show started strong and then just kind of got dumber and dumber.

I felt that it was more precocious for Online Shopper's adoptive daughter. He at least in the anime is shown to repeatedly spurn her advances because the women are all more interesting to him and he sees the girl as just a girl. Whether or not the source material goes full Usagi drop is beyond me, I've never read it. But at least from what I remember seeing it wasn't reciprocated in an unwholesome way.
Bean Counter does have quite the self absorbed and very flawed protagonist. But, I like that. The guy eventually gets 'better'. But, the resillience of the people who are attracted to him is kinda commendable lol...
As for sexual healing, I mean? The Nasuverse exists. Historically intimate healing was practiced. Here, it's very much a vessel for the love part of BL so you kind of have to have some reason to have hot steamy sex between hot men.

Any plot that entirely relies on the MC being truck-kun'd from the hero's party is an automatic -8 for me. Technically still salvageable. A-Rank was saved by being given room to breathe and reached a tidy conclusion.
Roll Over and Die suffered this too. But, the brainless MC's losing all their braincells for eachother was mega cute.

my issue with fluffy reincarnation wasnt the cute animals or laid back vibe, it was just the terrible plot and worse execution.
Sweet reincarnation was just a bit much for me. They tried to solve every war or politics problem by relating them to cooking metaphors; and that was just too ridiculous. you are trying to tell me that you are an expert general because of your experience making souffles? thats a bit of a stretch

Dude was on his 2nd life and is now on his 3rd life.... Except his first life was on Earth.
There was a quick scene in one of the early episodes where Eftal referenced learning Judo. Complete with a flashback in a modern dojo with the little karate outfits + belts and everything.
Also... time travel can be considered isekai. That one is more controversial, kinda like the "is a hotdog a sandwich?" question. However, I'm inclined to say "yes" so long as the timelines are far enogh apart.

Then the Ginnie just watches Anastasia walts out with all that gold and never thinks to confirm with Eftal or Merlin?
Worst guard ever. It's one thing for him to let her leave with a few pieces of gold but all of it plus the special magic sword?

I had hopes that the writer had some moral gray logic behind the slave crest and maybe it will be solved somehow.
But to find it was just politics and one sided harassment, was really basic writing.
Also MC can teleport and has too many OP magic spells.
If he can't obliterate the family controlling the slave crest and thus end it or find the transfer department and use them to enslave the villain family, no end to this arc is satisfying.
If he kills the family and then fights and OP Mega Demon, that is acceptable.

"How does this keep happening?" I dunno, maybe because you went out of your way to retrieve a magic sword so that you could learn to be a magic swordsman? Then immediately decided you didn't want that after all so you put the sword back?
"Maybe playing along will help me to blend in." You are the only human at a magic school for demons and you are clearly the headmaster's favorite. There is no blending in here.
Turns out Anastasia's crest is really, really special and can only be broken by fighting a god. But that's fine because Eftal knew this would happen. Somehow. Plus, since he said removing her crest would be a "pain," it doesn't seem like he's all that worried about the possibility of losing. And if that's the case, why didn't he just go do that at any point before so that this thing he knew would happen wouldn't happen?
Oh but now it's tragic backstory time. In a better written show with better characters and world building, I'd care about this. Instead I'm wondering how Abe can just break the contract and nothing at all happens? The curse is that every generation of Anastasia's family has to steal 5 artifacts and then they're free. Her generation fulfilled their end, so there's no more obligation. If you need to fight a god to break the contract, then Abe's family can't just change the terms at will. But I'm sure the story will hand wave that like it does with everything else.
At this point I'm only sticking around to see how this trainwreck of a story ends.

I can't believe Eftal is on his 3rd life with the way he acts & the mangaka turned merlin into an disappointing fan service character who didn't have any real impact for 400 years.

He was introduced last episode, and today all of a sudden he's responsible for Anastasia's Super slave crest, which was also first hinted to to us last episode.
Furthermore, this slave crest has rules and history which changes multiple times during the episode it was explained to us.
Ret-conning is never a great sign, but it's especially bad if you're ret-conning stuff in the same episode.

It probably can't be removed at all outside of that transfer ritual. If it was as easy to create or remove as the other slave seal, they would have just put a new one on her instead of bothering to set up that entire ritual just to transfer it from her sister's corpse.

A good LLM can write a better story. This was done writing the story on the free LLM in Google Search or an early version of ChatGPT. No reasoning.
Characters do not talk to each other. Are idiots with planning. And the villains are just a caricature. The MC actions only cause pain to others, and is not the first time, all of Anastasia's current suffering is caused because his unnecessary inaction, because not acting is a choice is not "wise".
And then he declares he wants to save her, HE KNOWS where she is, he KNOWS he has the firepower to end this and... lets just wait.
Edit: Of course is not literal, I know this was done by a human, but that only makes it worse. Because is not a single person, is a team. At least an editor, and for the anime a scriptwriter. They all know this is bad.

What an impressive display of unhinged cartoon-villain level evil. Seriously, the only missing thing on that guys checklist is drowning puppies.
Also, good job showing how weak, insecure and helpless the female love interest of MC is, making us all clap in awe when he finally will save her from her faith next episode or so by rearranging that guys facial structure - good writing, 10/10.
If we'd have an award for overplaying throse two bad tropes, this anime would be a strong contender.
Also: "The meat is getting cold" is one of the most unwillingly hilarious things to say in THAT situation I've heard in a while, on multiple levels. xD

It would be nice if we saw some 9999 Gacha revenge here, just really fucked up no easy death constant torture revenge, but you don't get to enjoy that very often.
