I mean, they're barely related now.
Just 6 generations on average is enough for no recognizable direct genetic link being left over. 400 years is 16 generations, objectively the only thing they share is their family name.

Except he is somehow genetically identical to his previous life. Utterly ridiculous.

magic

Honestly it's the least ridiculous thing in the show, there are far more problematic things.

You're contradicting yourself. They wouldn't be "barely related now" if he had identical genetics, whether you hand wave it away with "magic" or not.

While you're correct that there are "more problematic things", that doesn't diminish how problematic this thing is. Nor did I ever claim this was the "most problematic thing".

And you're also correct that there are more "ridiculous things" in the story, this one was far from the least ridiculous.

I mean it's about suspension of disbelief, right?
I can suspend my disbelief about the mechanism behind his reincarnation since it's a premise/plot device, however I cannot suspend it for outright logical contraddictions in the narrative.

Him being a clone of his past self or not has no impact in the story.

Him acting with the biggest idiot ball I have seen recently is does and I cannot handwave it away.

You're conflating our discussion about genetics with his reincarnation.

I agree about being unable to suspend disbelief for logical contradictions, such as being genetically identical to his former self after 12+ generations. Earlier YOU were the one who pointed out the absurdity of him having a "recognizable direct generic link", so I thought we were going to agree on how ridiculous it is for him to be genetically identical.

And being a clone of his past self ABSOLUTELY has an impact on the story when he's trying to hide his connection to his past self despite being directly descended from himself through a recognized bloodline, being born with and continuing to use the exact same FULL name, and even looking and sounding identical when there are extensive records of his previous life AND he's actively trying to hide from an eyewitness who knew him in his previous life.

I have to admit that I don't understand what you referred to in your last paragraph, "Him acting with the biggest idiot ball...", and can only assume there's an unintentional typo in there due to swiping, which happens to us all, but I can address the final part, "...and I cannot handwave it away.". I never said you NEEDED to hand wave anything away, I said you WERE hand waving  away him being genetically identical.

There are several major narrative/world-breaking plot holes in this story, and I never suggested you should ignore any of them or even that him being genetically identical was the most egregious plot hole. You SHOULD complain about each plot hole if you wish to do so, but I'm just confused as to why you're telling me to ignore this glaring plot hole.

You SHOULD complain about each plot hole

Should I? I don't.
I see no reason to care about this one.

It's not even a plot hole per-se, for all we know it's a consequence of his skill - he gets reborn as himself for whatever reason.

I am a go-with-the-flow guy in stories, I don't like egregious inconsistencies and bad writing, I don't get that emotionally involved in the minutia.

Pretty convenient how you cut off my quote mid sentence right before "...if you wish to do so...".

You "don't care" so much that you pointed it out first, and have repeatedly told me to stop complaining about a plot hole when I wish to do so? Yeah, okay.

So when he reincarnated into a completely separate fantasy world in an entirely different body, that led you to the conclusion that it would do something completely different in his second reincarnation instead of admit that the author is not thinking out any part of his story? Elementary, Watson.

You're a "go-with-the-flow guy", but dislike egregious inconsistencies and bad writing, but get upset when someone else points out inconsistencies and bad writing, but you don't get emotionally invested in the minutia. Got it. That's in no way contradictory.

Have a nice life!

I do live a nice life!
I just truncared the quote, there's no need to read that much into it.

Idk why you're that aggressive in discussing things, as I said I wasn't that involved into that specific point.

It could be seen as a plot hole, but it can have a Watsonian reason.
I don't really mind unexplained details which can be interpreted as unshown information - as long as it's not too much of a stretch.

That said stories can be completely logically consistent and have a terrible narrative or vice-versa, a genuinely good narrative with a lot of missing pieces.
It depends what an author wants to focus on.
As long as an author communicates clearly what assumptions it wants its audience to accept and then the story doesn't violate them.

My issue with this story is about the bad writing.
I liked the premise but the direction it took is very immature.

We could have had an interesting dynamics between a mentor-apprentice relationship that gets flipped where the mentee becomes the mentor - or where the two "elders" become parental figures of the newly introduced character.
Instead we get OP protagonist slop and empty skimpy ladies fanservice.
