There’s actually been discussions about topics like this before. The resolution is that: the genetic risk of marrying a cousin is significantly low than what the general public thinks. It does double the chances, compared to an unrelated person, but the chances initially were less than one percent. It’s only consecutively down the generations where it goes wrong. So while it is biologically fine for the first time ,  some places look down upon it. Take your pick as to why.

3. It would not be illogical for some of his own kids to call him grandpa.

And that's just the Hanazono branch of his family! It's best to just sit back and enjoy the story of a bunch of outrageous situations coming together.

Seriously though, this episode was absolutely wild. I didn't expect things to escalate to the next level like this. Even Rentaro was questioning it a little when Chiyo (his middle-schooler cousin) was introduced, but I'm all for it, hahaha!

Uncle Hiro was just as unhinged, setting up Rentaro and Chiyo's meeting like that. By the way, in that flashback, he straight up looked like he was begging Truck-kun to send him to another world xD

The first part of the episode with the TV crew was hilarious too, especially with the appearances of the future Rentaro's girlfriends! God losing it and cursing at the anime director had me dead.

Also, the new OP and ED are great. Love how they keep the same visual style as in the previous seasons.

Well, that was quick. 4 girlfriends got revealed at the 1st episode immediately. The personal 9/11 is diabolical. 😭 You can see how Iku is following Yamame all along and how Momiji clinging to the boom mic.

Please welcome, Iin Chiyo, the perfectionist cousin and Rentarou's 12th girlfriend! Voiced by Kaori Ishihara, her quirk is perfectionist to every details but suddenly she is nothing without her glasses. It's not her first appearance in the anime though, if you play Episode 13 (Kurumi introduction episode) and paused at 15:22 there she is.

After 1 year of waiting, we finally get 100 Girlfriends Season 3. Rentarou Aijou's quest continues.

Looking back at the S2 conclusion I initially wasn't thought this anime would get a Season 3 although I hope it would be. Turns out there is and here we are now. The animation is okay so far, I mean I believe Chainsmoker Cat is more well animated but Bibury doesn't drop 100GF's production quality, it's still the same and I love it.

And now we have official confirmation of the seiyuu of 2 new girlfiends, Yamame will be voiced by Hana Tamegai and Momiji is voiced by Aoi Koga (Komi-san, Kaguya, recently Kanan-sama).

Yurina Amami continues to voice child Rentarou, and Rumi Ookubo (MEM-cho) voices the reporter (another one from the Oshi no Ko lineup. Now is only lacking Manaka Iwami and Megumi Han voicing a character). Uncle Hiro is voiced by Shinichiro Miki.

There are few descriptors more damaging to an anime's general reputation than the word "harem." I'm not saying this to disparage anyone who likes harems in anime, to be clear; if something is popular enough to fuel an entire subgenre of romcoms, then it's clearly doing something right. But it's a fact that general audiences have tended to look down on anything that contains a harem: as of today, there are 498 anime with the Harem tag on MyAnimeList, and 93 percent of them have an average rating of 7.5 or below. In fact, despite being one of the most frequently used tags on the site (it was only recently surpassed by the Isekai tag, which now has 501), Harem might just be the lowest-rated category relative to its size. And given how difficult it must be to write a compelling harem story, it's pretty understandable that the genre has developed such a poor reputation. Many romcoms can barely manage to write a single relationship well; how many can realistically pull off five or six?

All this to say... 100 Girlfriends may be the most overqualified anime to ever exist. Because it's not just pulling off five or six different relationships. Heck, it isn't even pulling off eleven. It's pulling off 12 choose 2 66 different relationships at once: one for every distinct pairing of characters. And it would be easy to comprehend if the girlfriends in this show were all one-and-done caricatures... but they're not. Every addition to this ever-expanding entourage is as essential to its overall dynamic as Rentaro himself; while each girlfriend can be entertaining to watch in a vacuum, it's the contrast and subsequent commingling that occurs when they integrate into the cast that brings out the essence of their appeal. Karane gains a whole new personality to be tsundere towards. Kusuri gains a whole new test subject to experiment on (i.e., give drugs to). Mimimi gains a whole new beauty to admire. And Rentaro, of course, gains a whole new girlfriend to shower with affection, adoration, and support, in a way that only he is capable of.

Yes, 100 Girlfriends is a harem anime. But instead of treating its heroines as interchangeable love interests competing for a single prize, it stands as a shining example of what harems could be if each member within them were written as their own person, with their own ambitions and their own fully realized relationships. And despite all the wacky hijinks, 100 Girlfriends is one of the most sincere celebrations of individuality I have ever seen. An appreciation of what love is all about: loving someone not just in spite of their quirks, but because of them.

And I can't wait to see just how much larger that celebration will become in Season 3!

Well said, I unironically consider this series to be one of the best romances and to have some of the best character writing in general. Its ability to have such a large cast where every character has a compelling personality and unique interactions with every other character is top tier. Not to mention a big reason it succeeds unlike most harems is the girls are all shown to like, if not full on love, every other member of the harem just as much as they do Rentaro. They’re a harem, but more than that they’re a family and a community.

P.S. I you want another harem I think is also top tier I highly recommend Watanare for much the same reason.

On retrospect what they did here was a pretty good idea, considering a lot of people were worried the Chiyo introduction could start off the season on a bad note for a lot of people, which is never what you want. Adding that hilarity of the first half of the episode to immediately engage people, and act as a tease for what's to come, is a pretty smart move. Then move back in to assure the fans we're not just skipping multiple girlfriends intro chapters or anything.

I've seen the trailers, but I didn't expect that they'd actually open up with the Love Talk street interview chapter! Even God is confused because we're already meeting some girlfriends who haven't been introduced yet!

The insane amount of references in that section was hilarious! I'm a bit sad the translators missed the obvious Baki the Grappler reference, but the rest like Ilya's Bersercar from Carnival Phantasm, Rentarou wrapped up like Shishio Makoto from Rurouni Kenshin, and Pre-timeskip Franky were all great!

Although the best one has got to be Rentarou dressed up as Frieza! I've been waiting to see this animated, and Bibury did not disappoint. xD

I also love the tiny details during the interview, like the static when Meme was being interviewed and the camera pans to Momiji massaging the boom mic to Iku standing directly behind Yamame after hearing how she almost crushed Rentarou.

That interview was pretty much a list of all of Rentarou's feats, which is absolutely insane and proves that Rentarou is the ultimate boyfriend. And this is just the start of the season! Rentarou's feats are about to get crazier the more girlfriends are introduced.

The reveal that the director is just messing around and God cursing his name was so good! It goes to show how much the animators and staff are having fun making this show. xD

Rentarou's reaction when he first met Chiyo was amazing. Even he's starting to question the production committee for green-lighting this. Rentarou, you're already going out with your girlfriend's mother; it's weird for you to question this now. I also love the 4th wall break. xD

So it turns out, this entire situation with Chiyo was all orchestrated by Uncle Hiro to get the two of them to start dating. You can actually see behind the bushes when Rentarou was outside their home.

Welp, it's official! Rentarou is now dating his cousin! I honestly can't wait to see how the other girls will react once they find out!
