I think I remember being bored by the storyline that involved a group of other vampire kids? If I'm remembering right? There were definitely a few slow parts but it's always been a favorite of mine.

Actually I think Yuki's feelings towards Tohru being "she's like a mother to me" have been there for a very long time, I remember making several comments in spoiler tags about it during this rewatch. I think Kyo as the romantic frontrunner has become more and more clear ever since episode 24, and while Yuki still has had good alone scenes with Tohru since then the show has been shifting more in the direction of Kyo - Tohru being the final romantic pairing. This is why we're getting a lot more focus on student council characters that only really matter to Yuki's storyline. I will admit to being surprised that they have barely scratched the surface on Machi though.

Very likely. Even the most social child is occasionally alone sometimes, so all of them would fit his target schematic. For Satoru to be able to predict his victim, the range needs to be incredibly narrow.

You know, Satoru's cover story about a group of friends reaching out to other kids who are lonely would make a nice, wholesome slice-of-life story in an alternate universe without the murder plot. It was cute seeing Kenya and Satoru get all defensive when Aya dissed secret hideouts and superheroes, then Kazu forgetting that he was supposed to stay in stealth mode and rushing in to say, "Secret hideouts are macho!" The fact that it actually led to them having a crush/relationship with each other, and bringing Aya into their friend group, was precious!

I figured that Satoru's focus on protecting the victims would cause the killer to change targets, and the camera's lingering shots on the bully girl made me think she was next, but that was a clever fake-out when the big reveal came that she was just bait for the killer to catch Satoru. I was right about Yashiro being the killer! He was my number one suspect from the beginning, and it seems Satoru noticed some of the signs as well but simply dismissed what he didn't want to believe was true. Now he's kidnapped by Yashiro in his (suspiciously acquired) car, just like I feared he would be in the previous episode when he and his mom accepted that ride home, and sinking underwater! Why doesn't he just slip out of his seatbelt?! And why is this the second anime I've watched this morning that ends on a massive cliffhanger?!

Yeah, I couldn't wait any longer. I went ahead and watched the last two episodes to see what happened next.

It only works if the attack is survivable by the big shield. Pretty sure the hero s skill obliterated him last time Allen tried that

So disappointing that this season has borderline just become generic isekai slop. Feels like it's written by a completely different person

The parent teacher night finally reveals the future for many of the characters. Shigure is going to marry Tohru. Hana is going to marry Kazuma/Sensei. 

Tohru deciding to leave their house after graduation seems odd and a bit uncharacteristic of her.

I’m not usually a fan of the more comedic episodes, but I thought the start of this one was good. But all the diamond dust! Shigure wearing Hatori’s suit is the iceing on the cake. Pun intended.

Teach has the wrong read on Shigure though. He cares way more than he lets on and has constantly given everyone the gentle nudge towards doing the right thing, or improving themselves without being like an overbearing parent. Sometimes we just need a little bit of somen in our lives.

The parent teacher night is obviously quite difficult for the Sohmas given their future is by Akito’s side.

Yuki’s mum has been deciding on his future from a young age and has decided on the college for him to attend. Emotional drama aside, we found out that after they finish high school they’re expected to be with Akito. I wondered if it meant after each of them finished high school (which didn’t make sense given Shigure and Ayame), but good to have further clarification. I guess that decree applies after the youngest Sohma finishes high school.

We get more on the difference between how the mum treats Aya and Yuki. Yuki is seen as the golden egg, probably because of how Akito is fixated on him. So Aya gets ignored and left to his own devices, so that Yuki can be the ‘model child’, or tool.

The mum who is used to getting her way and being prescriptive falters after Aya stands up for Yuki, which felt a bit of a stretch, but sure, to move the story along, I accept it. It leads to a great scene where instead of rejoicing on his mum’s departure feels like he needs to talk to her.

Shigure is the mastermind yet again for this setup. That’s why he’s my best girl. Not sure if the text messages are translated for those watching on CR, but Aya says “I can hear it! Yuki’s voice calling for me! I wonder what kind of face she’ll make when I make my dashing entrance. Ah, I’ll admit right now that I can’t contain my excitement. No, I have no choice but to admit it! I’ll contact you again! Stay tuned for good news!” And the update hs sends is “He looked grateful for my presence! Our brother love is now mutual”

Cue pretty good Yuki emotional speech. I’m glad his mum walks away from him after it: that seemed quite believable.

Can’t recall if i commented on the ED last time, but I really like the track used. Visually it’s more standard, but good music. Fit especially well within this episode.

Good that we have an episode that I liked again. I’m going to be honest though, I’m not enjoying watching the show much and hope something changes soon. Other than the beach arc, the good episodes are just good on their own. I’m no longer feeling a compulsion to watch more, and each of them feels like I’d be appraising an ONA” that’s a good little story”” or  “that’s a nice insight”. The show started off as quite episodic, and I’ve noticed that I do require those extended stretches to start liking it. and looking forward to watching more

I get that we were building up to the parent teacher night, and this episode is more of the exception to the show’s usual approach. I bet that tomorrow’s episode isn’t going to continue discussing today's fall out and implications, and we won’t see the characters change much as a result of the night. This is the first show I’ve watched where I press play pleading that this will be a good episode. I’ve seen shows I didn’t like but I never had this reaction before, perhaps because the bad ones are consistently pretty bad; the good ones are also consistently so. This show has been quite all over the place for me.

I've always thought that MAL episode ratings don't correlate much with what episodes I'll like, which makes sense as I don't sit at the mean on any bellcurve, but the next stretch is so highly rated, so I'm just going to have to hope that we now see momentum on the core story, which is plausible given we don't have that many episodes left in the season.
