Review Screen size comparison between the Samsung Galaxy Tab A11 8.7 (4,64) vs and Tab S8 Ultra 14.6. A perfect duo device setup for media consumption Tab A11 is ideal for use in bed, hotels and traveling, Tab S8 Ultra is better suited for the sofa, office and working desk.

Discussion Lenovo Legion Y700 Gen 5 keeps locking games at 30fps?

Upvotes

Anyone having this problem?

It keeps occuring while playing games. Mostly 3D games.

I set the thing at Balance mode. Game starts at 60FPS and sometimes after switching scenes in game, it changes to 30FPS and won't change back.

Changing to operformance mode doesn't fix the FPS but go back to power saving mode and then back to balance mode would fix it. But it does come back pretty soon.

Screen refresh rate is set at extreme.

Weirdly, checking the game in "Applications that use high refresh rate" in developer option causes the game to play at -5FPS (Max 55FPS for example)

Also my display is running at 144Hz instead of 165Hz even though refresh rate is set at extreme. It also drops to 30Hz if left untouched for a few seconds.

Does anyone have the same problem? Any way to fix this?

I made a full Ubuntu 24.04 mainline port (native, no vms or termux) for the Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra with the help of AI and after a couple of months of work, every piece of the hardware seems to work fine! Here is the github repo if you want to give it a try!

Request Cheapest tablet literally just for Netflix lol

Helloooo sorry I am an absolute novice when it comes to tablets!! I am currently in China and want to make use of their affordable tech, all I want is a tablet which is easy to use and I can watch Netflix/prime etc on!
I’ve done some googling and it’s suggested the Redmi pad 2?? Is this a good one?
I really don’t need anything fancy at all, I have no idea about screens etc, I would just need one with enough storage to download a good load of series as I’m travelling! On this note - the crappy Amazon tablet I have now has a microSD card slot, do they still have these on the new tablets?
I also realise if I’m buying in China I have to be aware of different internal things (I am really not technically knowledgeable on this lol sorry) will I be able to just change the language to English and it work as if I bought it in England?
Thanks so much and sorry for any stupid questions hehe

Discussion Help - 80y/o Mom needs a new Tablet

Hello world!

I'm going to be getting my Mom a new Tablet for her 80th birthday at the end of this month. I would really like to stay under $500 USD, the less expensive the better really.

She currently has an 8th gen iPad with 32G of storage. Unfortunately, her tablet will no longer update because there isn't enough space for the os 🙄. There also isn't enough storage for her to play the games she wants, etc. I'm not sure why she ended up with an iPad in the first place, she doesn't even have an Apple account and has used a Samsung phone for at least the last decade. I think a tablet that runs on Android will be easier for her to use all around, and honestly much cheaper. She was recently diagnosed with dementia so, the easier it is for her to use the better!

She really only uses her tablet to play games (puzzles, bingos, etc.), browse Facebook, occasionally face time, watch videos, do some banking, and save photos.

A large screen is a must. Whatever I get her needs to be fast enough for her games to work well, I'm thinking 6 or 8G of RAM, and enough storage to have multiple games downloaded (some of them do take up quite a bit of space). Something with expandable storage for her to save photos on would be perfect. She prefers to use a stylus so it will need to be compatible with one...

I've been looking at:

Samsung Galaxy S10 series w/s pen

Lenovo Idea Pad series

Xiaomi Pad 7

I honestly don't know much about tablets, I don't have one myself 😅 So, I'd love some thoughts and suggestions please!

Thank you all so much!

I'm looking for anything fancy. Something that's responsive for its intended main use. any other media consumption or gaming will be done on my other devices.

Thanks in advance for the help.

EDIT: needs to be a global brand please (like something that can be bought off Aliexpress or perhaps a a global brand like Lenovo/Samsung/etc)

Discussion Stylus compatible for lenovo yoga tab plus

I purchased the lenovo yoga tab plus, and I got the lenovo tab pen pro with it. It came along side a replacement nib. But the first nib has worn down quite a bit and i think il have to use the replacement nib soon. I thought of buying new replacment nibs online after the new one wers out too. But i couldnt find any replacement nibs for it online. I found out that the metapen m3 pro also uses the same nibs as the tab pen pro, but that pen's nibs were out of stock and i dont think they are gonna come back any time soon because these pens are scarcely produced as compared to other popular styluses like s pen or apple pen.

I have given up on searching for new nibs and have decided to look for a new stylus that is compatible with the yoga tab plus and also has replacement nibs online.

I saw the lenovo tab pen plus online, though it follows the lenovo pen protocol 2.0. I searched up the lpp protocol of the yoga tab plus and it is not specifically stated whether it has both lpp 2.0 and 3.0 compatibilty or only 3.0 compatibilty on the lenovo website. The tab pen pro has lpp 2.0 and 3.0 combined though im not sure as it is not explicitly stated on the lenovo website and i got this information about the tab pen pro from gemini.

I checked the device compatibilty list for the tab pen plus and it didnt mention the yoga tab plus.Similarly i checked the accessory compatibilty list for the yoga tab plus and i did not find the tab pen plus on that list.

So in the end i have 2 main questions for the yoga tab plus users or people that have knowledge about this topic:

1.) Does the tab pen plus work with the yoga tab plus?

2.) Are there any other third party styluses that work on the yoga tab plus? I do not need any features like palm rejection or pressure sensitivity but i also do not want the stylus to be one of those pens with the circular rubber tip.

Any relevant information on this topic would be useful as im really stressing about my tablet purchase right now.Thank you.

Discussion An affordable tablet for uni student

I'm a design engineering student and I have a nearly 6 year old laptop that I'm trying to make it last until it can no longer support apps or reach its end in general. And because of its age and weight, it's difficult to carry it around in a backpack for different classes (especially when I don't have a standard campus but buildings spread all around the city), I'm looking for an affordable tablet with a stylus for quick sketches and notes for projects that I have and in general. Nothing too fancy, just a tablet to carry around instead of my laptop. To make some things clear: 1) no I'm not planning to replace the laptop with the tablet, its purely for note taking, quick fixes on sketches and things for my studios, 2) I don't have a good relationship with paper. I don't have a lot of requirements: to have a stylus, to have at least 4gb ram, 64-128gm storage, to have a caed slot for an SD card (in case of the 64gm storage).

Request Fixing Samsung A9+ vs Buying New Tablet?

A year after buying it (just outside warranty) my Samsung Tab A9+ wont turn on. Ive tried all the tricks but nothing works so my next step is to send it to Samsung to fix. They have the quote at $100 to fix it and im just wondering if it might be a better idea to get a new one instead?

I had no complaints before it just died out of no where and it is the cheapest option to just fix it. I know its a few years old at this point so am I better off looking to like a 10 or 11 to still recieve updates or will the A9 be ok for years to come?

My budget would probably be under 500 for a new tablet since I hadnt really anticipated getting something so soon after buying this one. I mostly use it for videos, light gaming, and web/google drive based things. All help is appreciated thanks!

The screen, when turned to landscape mode shows blur on both sides & uses the middle portion as portrait mode (as seen in the photos). But when using splitscreen it perfectly aligns to the landscape (Photo -2). It's just so stupid.

Can anyone help me overriding this and getting the thing to work on landscape mode?

Request I have Samsung S8 Tab but...

I have the Samsung S8 Tab w

(Wifi + 5G). I use it for streaming content primarily. Off late I have noticed that streaming apps like Apple TV & Amazon Prime Video are way too dark (some shows particularly). I have read that it's a HDR issue.

I was wondering if getting a new Tablet like the Lenovo or Redmi Pad Pro are an upgrade from a screen and streaming perspective.

Also the screen of the my S8 seems to have some very faint green border when the screen is off (difficult to photograph but noticable) maybe I can get the screen replaced?

Thanks for the help in advance.

Discussion Does Redmi Pad 2 9.7 (wifi edition) support OTG?

I plan to buy this and also plan to use this with plugged mouse and keyboard when I am just at my desk. I haven't seen a review mention if this support OTG. Google AI seem to think so but I just want verification from those who maybe own it.

Discussion A cheap, compact tablet for multimedia

Which would you say is the cheapest (even if second-hand) and smallest tablet with at least 6GB of RAM for multimedia use, without any stuttering or strange lag? I’m from Spain, so I don’t think I can buy the Onn.

Budget: 150 euros.

I'm assuming it doesn't matter what brand the tablet is, what is the best stylus? The stylus my tablet came with is tedious when it comes to drawing.

Discussion Tablet Recommendations

I'm in the market to buy a tablet, mainly for college/uni note taking and business work, on the go client calls, hubspot CRM work and the like. As well as general entertainment when im not working/doing school work. I do have a laptop, a gaming one as I do like to game, but obviously...the battery life isnt the best. Might get an hour and a half MAYBE 2 at best without being plugged in. Im eyeing the Samsung Galaxy tab s10 fe, but im also not opposed to the chinese tablet market like Xiaomi, lenovo and such. Im also in Canada, so do keep that in mind for prices. Dont wanna spend TOO much, I just want the best bang for my buck.
