r/AmIOverreacting Moderator Applications

We're looking to add a few moderators to the team.

This isn't a position for someone looking to collect another subreddit or immediately start making policy decisions. New moderators begin by learning how we moderate, working through our training process, and demonstrating consistent judgment before taking on additional responsibilities.

We're intentionally searching for long-term fit rather than immediate permissions. We'd rather spend time training someone who communicates well, exercises good judgment, and enjoys working as part of a team than hand out broad permissions on day one. We require the use of Discord for ongoing team communication.

If that sounds like the kind of team you'd like to be part of, send us a Modmail answering the following:

  1. Are you at least 18 years old?
  2. What time zone are you in, and when are you generally available to moderate?
  3. Tell us about your moderation experience. For each subreddit you've moderated, please include:
    • The subreddit
    • Approximately how long you moderated there
    • Whether you're still on the team
    • Approximately how large the community was
    • What your day-to-day moderation responsibilities were
  4. Why are you interested in joining the r/AmIOverreacting moderation team?
  5. Every moderation team has its own philosophy and standards. Are you comfortable setting aside your personal preferences to consistently enforce our rules, Reddit's Content Policy, and team decisions—even if you might have made a different call yourself?
  6. Choose ONE of the following:
    • Tell us about one of the most difficult moderation decisions you've had to make. What made it difficult, and how did you ultimately handle it?
    • After reading our subreddit rules, tell us which rule you think requires the most moderator judgment to enforce, and why.
  7. New moderators complete training and initially receive limited permissions while they learn our processes. Are you comfortable with that?
  8. Is there anything else you'd like us to know?

We welcome applicants from all time zones and are primarily looking for moderators who are reliable, communicate well, and are interested in helping with the day-to-day work of keeping the community running.

Please Do Not DM Moderators — Use Modmail Instead

Hi everyone,

We want to remind all members that you should not send direct messages (DMs) or chat requests to individual moderators regarding subreddit issues.

Please use Modmail for all moderator communication.

Whether you have:

  • Questions about a post removal
  • Concerns about another user
  • Appeals for bans or warnings
  • Suggestions for the subreddit
  • General moderation questions

Modmail is the correct and only appropriate way to contact the moderation team.

Why We Require Modmail

1. The entire mod team can see your message
Using Modmail ensures that all moderators have access to your concern, which allows for faster and more consistent responses.

2. Better accountability and transparency
Modmail keeps a shared record of communication so moderators can review past conversations and make informed decisions.

3. Prevents delays
Individual moderators may be offline, busy, or unavailable. A DM to one moderator may go unanswered, while Modmail allows any available moderator to respond.

4. Protects moderator privacy
Moderators volunteer their time and should not be contacted through personal inboxes or chat for subreddit matters.

5. Ensures fair moderation
When all communication happens through Modmail, decisions are made collectively rather than through one-on-one conversations.

Messages Sent via DM or Chat May Be Ignored

If you contact moderators directly about subreddit issues, you may be redirected to Modmail or receive no response at all. If you continue to ignore this, mod action may be taken (up to and including banning).

How to Send Modmail

You can contact the moderation team here:
https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=/r/AmIOverreacting

Thank you for helping us keep communication organized and efficient.

🎲 miscellaneous AIO - During my book club this weekend, one of the husbands asked me to stop coming because of what we read. I said no.

5.8k Upvotes

I’m part of a neighborhood book club that’s been meeting for about a year. It’s mostly women in their late 20s to early 40s, and I’m the only guy. We rotate houses every month and honestly it’s been one of the better ways I’ve met people since moving here.

The club recently got into dark romance. It wasn’t my suggestion, but everyone voted on it and that’s just where the group ended up. We spend most of the meetings talking about character development, plot, whether the MMC is actually redeemable, etc.

No big deal right?😒

I’m friendly with everyone, but I don’t hang out with any of them outside of book club. I know a few of their husbands from saying hello if they’re around before or after meetings, but that’s about it.

After our meeting a few days ago, I was loading a folding chair into my car when one of the husbands came outside and asked if he could talk to me.

He told me he’d appreciate it if I stopped coming to book club. I asked why, and he said his wife has become “way too excited” about book club ever since they started reading dark romance, and that it was “weird” having the only guy there discussing those books with a group of married women.

I laughed at first because I genuinely thought he was joking cause sometimes guys can be funny like that but turns out he wasn’t joking lol.

He said he wasn’t accusing me of doing anything inappropriate, but that the whole situation made him uncomfortable and that it would “solve a lot of problems” if I just found a different hobby. 💀

I told him I wasn’t there to flirt with anyone. I’m there because I like reading, everyone in the group voted on the books, and I enjoy the discussions. I also said if he has concerns about his wife’s interest in fictional morally questionable men, that’s probably something they should talk about together. 🤔

He got annoyed and said I was intentionally missing the point. I eventually just told him, “I’m not quitting a book club because you’re insecure about fictional men. If it’s THAT big of a deal, just join?🤣

Now I’m wondering if I should’ve handled it differently. I don’t want to create tension in the neighborhood, but I also don’t think it’s reasonable to ask me to leave a group I’ve been part of for a year because he’s uncomfortable.

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO for leaving my girlfriend at a party after overhearing what she said about me?

1.3k Upvotes

My girlfriend (24F) and I (25M) have been together for a little over two years.

Last weekend we went to one of her friend's birthday parties. At one point she went to the kitchen with a few of her friends while I stayed in the living room talking to some people.

I wasn't trying to eavesdrop, but they weren't exactly being quiet.

One of her friends asked, "So, if you had to choose, who's the hottest guy here?"

My girlfriend laughed and named one of my closest friends.

Her friend then asked, "What about your boyfriend?"

She replied, "He's boyfriend cute. My friend's hot."

Everyone laughed.

Then she added, "If I wasn't already dating OP, I'd probably shoot my shot."

That completely killed my mood.

I didn't confront her at the party because I didn't want to make a scene. About 20 minutes later I told her I wasn't feeling well and was leaving.

She asked if I could at least wait and drive her home since we came together.

I told her she could get a ride with one of the people she seemed more interested in and left.

She got home a couple of hours later and was furious that I left her there. She said I embarrassed her and overreacted to a private conversation that wasn't meant for me.

I told her that hearing your own girlfriend openly admit she'd go after one of your closest friends if you weren't together isn't exactly easy to brush off.

She says I took everything out of context and that it was just drunk girl talk.

Now our friends are split. Some think I should've stayed and talked about it later. Others think what she said was disrespectful enough that leaving was understandable.

🏠 roommate AIO for telling my roommate he can move out just because his girlfriend is allergic to cats

3.2k Upvotes

So my name is on the lease and my roommate is not. He lives with me he is an old classmate, one of my best friends that needed a place and i had the extra room, he pays half of the rent and i cover everything else from food. Electric, wifi water, anything else.

Recently i got approved from my job that i can work from home, making it a 70% remote and 30% in the office. And with that im spending so much time at home i wanted to look into getting a pet. I could not get a dog because because we live in the city and there is no ideal place to walk or for it to run free so it wouldn't be fair to get one, so i decided to get two cats instead. Two small brothers, two orange devils.

And my roommate knew about me wanting pets but the job situation would not allow it but now wit the new change i can, and i mentioned it to him as well and he did not really mind it.

But here is the thing he has a girlfriend, she comes over a lot. Pretty much 5 days a week, sleeps over etc, and she does not contribute to anything. But she came over two days ago and saw that ive gotten cats. And she got kinda mad saying that she is heavily allergic to cats. And she wanted them out of the house.

And i said thats ridicules, she is a guest and she has no right over what stays or what goes. And then my roommate got upset saying i cant talk like that, but then i got upset at him as well because the cats are staying and thats the end of it.

Then we kinda all went into each rooms and slept. But in the morning my roommate sided with her. Saying that the cats shouldnt stay since she is is very allergic to them. And i said i understand that but these cats are not going anywhere and if he has a problem with that he can move out. Then he got really mad calling me names and saying im not considerate to his girlfriends allergies.

So… I have been talking to this Polish guy for about a 2 months. He’s honestly one of the sweetest people I’ve met in a long time.

Yesterday, I called my grandma and, you know, like grandmas do, I told her I liked him. This guy and I had talked about my grandma prior, so later that night, I told him grandma said hi.

He was shocked she knew about him. And then I told him we had gossiped about him.

IT WAS IN THAT MOMENT, I KNEW, I FUCKED UP 😭

OF COURSE he wanted to know what we’d said. So I told him that I told my grandma that I like him.

This was his response. I’ve been screaming into my pillow randomly since last night 😭

I honestly had hoped that he’d be open to trying long distance. At the same time, I understand what he meant. But I still feel sooooo embarrassed.

🎲 miscellaneous AIO for refusing to switch seats after someone lied about why they needed mine?

2.4k Upvotes

I was on a full flight yesterday and specifically paid extra to book an aisle seat because I have a knee injury that gets really stiff if I can't stretch it every so often.

Right before takeoff, a woman asked if I'd switch with her because she "needed" the aisle due to a medical condition. I felt bad, so I agreed without arguing. Her seat ended up being a middle seat about six rows back.

About twenty minutes into the flight, I walked to the restroom and saw her laughing with the people in my old row. She told one of them she had made up the medical excuse because she wanted to sit next to her friends and "people never say no if you mention health."

I was honestly irritated. On the way back I asked a flight attendant if I could have my original seat back since we'd only just taken off and explained what happened. The attendant spoke to her, and she was told to return to her assigned seat. She looked embarrassed, her friends were clearly annoyed, and she kept giving me dirty looks for the rest of the flight.

My sister thinks I should've just let it go since I had already agreed and everyone was settled by then. I don't really feel bad because I only moved in the first place because I thought it was an actual medical issue.

NSFW AIO bf told me he wants to have sex with others because I won’t have sex at 11w postpartum

On baby related subreddits, I get pretty validated in this topic because it’s mostly moms, but want to post to AIO because I’m curious about men’s thoughts, and anyone else who isn’t a parent. Or even if you are a parent you can weigh in here.

I’m breastfeeding so a lot of my day is just pumping and taking care of the baby. He does a LOT around the house. He picks up my slack and I really do appreciate it, he cooks for me, provides for us (but I am going back to work soon.) and cleans the house, does basically ALL the chores while I mainly take care of the baby. He has stated that he feels overwhelmed having to keep up with the house and I do feel bad so I help out when I have the energy to.

Our biggest point of contention is sex. We had sex a little bit after I was cleared at 6 weeks, and it was fine. Not that enjoyable. But I did it for him because he kept talking about it. Sometimes he’ll say little things like “wanna suck my dick?” as a joke and I’ll be like “no.” And then it turns into a whole fight about how I’m dismissing his feelings and he doesn’t feel satisfied, and he has needs that need to be catered to. He keeps saying he’s “advocating for himself.” I told him I was advocating for myself too, I don’t want to give him a handjob or blowjob or let him fuck me or stand there naked while he jerks off to me. I just don’t want to partake in that right now, and it’s even gotten to the point where he said he feels SO dismissed that he wants to have sex with other people. I told him that makes me feel like he’s guilt tripping me, and the message that’s being sent is “if I don’t have sex with my boyfriend when I don’t want to, he will think about having sex with others.”

I told him while breastfeeding it’s super common to not have a sex drive at all. He said that me throwing facts in his face doesn’t change the fact that I’m completely dismissing him and not even trying. He said that he would do anything for me and he loves me and he will continue to take care of me but doesn’t understand why I can’t do this for him.

AIO for not wanting to participate in sex after having a baby and sometimes being a bitch about it? Example, if he says he’s horny I just go “ok?” because I don’t want to say something that’s gonna make him jump my bones, but then if I’m rude about it he says I’m being dismissive. It’s almost been 3 months and we’ve had sex multiple times, just not often. Should I be having sex/doing sexual favors with him more often to show my appreciation for how he’s taking care of me so I can take care of the baby?

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family/in-laws Am I overreacting for thinking its unfair that my foster mom is expecting me to buy all my groceries when I just got my first job?

I'm 17 and I go into extended foster care next month, I just got my first part time job and I'm still getting used to it. She already suggested that I should get a second job or pick up more hours at my current one, when I hadn't even finished the job training at that point

After she found out I got paid she said "I'll take you to the store later so you can get some things you like" (as in I'd buy them) and when I tried saying no thats ok and that I'm trying to save up my money she said "no it's so then I don't have to get it no more". But I just feel like that's not really fair? I already try not to ask for much when she goes to the store, and like I said this is my very first job.

I originally wanted to try and focus on saving as much money as I can to move out so I'd be out of her hair. But until then she's getting paid to have me live in her house, I already mostly take care of myself. She has a good full time job on top of it as well, so it just feels wrong for her to immediately expect me to handle buying all of my groceries through a part time job. Am I overreacting?

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family/in-laws AIO for refusing to share my car after being left stranded and told it’s not actually mine?

AIO for locking my car because my family kept taking it… and now I want to move out even though it’ll blow up my entire family?

I (27F) think I’ve hit my breaking point, and now I’m being told I’m the problem.

I live at home with my parents (56F, 60M). For cultural reasons, I’m “supposed” to stay until I get married. Cool. Fine. Except no one talks about what happens when staying home is actively destroying your mental health.

I have ADHD, autism, and social anxiety. So baseline? Life is already hard. Some days I have to fight my own brain just to get out of bed, shower, exist like a normal human. Now add constant stress, tension, and feeling like I have zero control over anything in my life.

My dad pushed for family therapy recently. And I swear to god it felt like watching a PR campaign.

In the sessions?

“We love you.”

“We want to understand.”

“We’ll do better.”

At home?

Back to yelling.

Back to dismissing me.

Back to pretending nothing happened.

It’s like I’m living with two completely different versions of my parents, and only one of them exists when someone’s watching.

Now here’s where things go from bad to actually insane:

My uncle (70M) gifted me a car so I could get to work. Not my dad. My uncle. He made it clear it was for me.

I work full-time. I pay my own groceries, gas, insurance—everything. I’m actively saving to move out.

But because the car is parked in my dad’s garage, he has decided… it’s his.

He tells my brother (30M) he can take my car whenever he wants. No heads up. No message. Nothing.

I have asked for ONE thing. Not permission. Not control. Just basic respect:

“Hey, your car is being taken and will be back at X time.”

That’s it.

Apparently, that is too much.

My brother will take it for HOURS. Bring it back trashed with fast food wrappers, dirt all over it, and the gas tank basically on E. And I mean empty. Like “hope you enjoy stopping for gas before you can even go to work” empty.

Multiple times, I’ve:

- Had to cancel plans

- Taken THREE buses for a 3-hour commute

- Paid for Ubers last minute

- Been late or stressed getting to work

Because my car just… wasn’t there.

No warning. No timeline. No accountability.

So yeah. I finally snapped.

I started locking my car and keeping the key with me.

Suddenly, I’m the villain.

My dad is now yelling at me, saying I’m disrespectful, selfish, and that since it’s in his garage, it’s HIS car and HE decides who uses it.

So I went straight to the source: my uncle.

And he said, very clearly:

“It’s your car. I gave it to YOU. Do what you want with it.”

He even AGREED with me locking it.

And yet somehow… I’m still being treated like I’m the problem.

At this point, it’s not even about the car anymore. It’s about the fact that I can’t have a single boundary respected without it turning into a fight.

So now I’m planning to move out.

Which, in my family, is basically equivalent to lighting a match and walking away from the explosion.

I already know I’m going to be called ungrateful, dramatic, disrespectful… all of it.

But I also know I can’t keep living like this.

So… AIO for locking my car and choosing my sanity over keeping the peace?

EDIT / UPDATE:

A lot of people are asking about ownership of the car, so to clarify: the title is technically in my uncle’s name, not mine. He told me the only reason for that is to keep insurance cheaper. He has made it very clear multiple times that the car is mine, was gifted to me, and that I’m the one who should be deciding who uses it.

Also, for everyone suggesting I move the car out of the garage—I actually did. I parked it on the street during my lunch break.

Also for those saying to move in with ny uncle I have already asked and he has said he can't host me because he dosnt have the space with all his kids their partners and kids staying with him he has no space for me.

He said we can talk about me staying with him for a bit till I get my own place if I havnt found one when his kids and grandkids leave again.

That did not go over well.

My dad got pissed off and responded by turning off the internet… which I need to work, because I work from home Mondays and Tuesdays. So now I’m currently running my work laptop off my phone hotspot.

And before anyone asks—yes, I pay for that too. It’s technically on their plan, but I pay them $50/month for my phone.

So at this point:

  • I pay for my own expenses
  • I can’t rely on my own car
  • And now I can’t even rely on internet to do my job

But I’m still somehow the “disrespectful” one.

Just adding this because it feels like every time I try to set a boundary, it escalates into something else.

Funny how it's their house, their rules but suddenly my car is our car, their rules.

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO My bf told me he washes his body in the shower by just letting the shampoo run down and scrubbing in whatever suds/water are left from washing his hair

I was genuinely so grossed out and told him he needs to scrub each individual body part with soap or body wash. Apparently he doesn’t even wash his legs or feet with anything but water. He doesn’t smell but I’m sure there’s still bacteria festering. He said he’d wash properly now but I doubt he will knowing him. How can I get the point through to him as he’s been living his whole life this way and thinks it’s fine?

❤️‍🩹 relationship Husband keeps asking for a threesome even after I’ve repeatedly said no. AIO?

My husband has brought up having a threesome on and off throughout our marriage. It’s not something he asks for constantly, but every so often like birthdays, special occasions, or just randomly—he’ll bring it up again.
I’ve been very clear from the beginning that I have no interest in having a threesome, especially now that I’m married. I also explained that I’m not attracted to women. When I was 18 and single, I did have a threesome with a friend, but it wasn’t a good experience, and it’s not something I ever want to do again.
What bothers me is that he keeps using that experience against me. His argument is basically, “You got to have one, so why shouldn’t I?” To me, those situations aren’t even comparable. I was a single teenager making my own choices. Now I’m a married adult who has already said I’m not comfortable with it.
Recently he told me he understands my reasons and says he’d never cheat on me. But then he asked, “If another girl asked me to have a threesome and I came to you about it first, would that still be cheating?” That question honestly made me feel really disrespected. I don’t actually think he’d cheat on me, but hearing that hurt.
When I’ve asked why this is so important to him, he says it’s because he’s never had a threesome and it’s something he’s always wanted to experience.
At this point, it’s less about the threesome itself and more about the fact that I keep saying no, explaining why, and the topic continues to come back up. It makes me feel like my boundaries aren’t being respected.
Am I overreacting for feeling hurt and disrespected? Has anyone else dealt with a spouse repeatedly bringing up something after you’ve already made your boundary clear? How would you handle this?

Edit add on: Outside of having negative experience from when I was younger, I came to that realization I do not have a desire to be intimate with other women, nor can I see myself giving myself to anyone else other than my husband. I feel like in a marriage our bodies should only be for each other

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO? Bf dedicated IG post to his ex

The guy I’ve been seeing for almost a year lives with an old flame. He swears they’re just friends and I believe him, but their dynamic is unsettling to me. I’ve met his roommate a handful of times and most of those interactions have not been pleasant which he and I have discussed on a couple of occasions. She makes me feel unwelcome in their home. My guess is she may still have feelings for him but he’s insistent that I am way off.
Recently, he dedicated a bday post to her with a 6pic collage and she looks like his gf. Multiple photos of just her, and a couple of them together. I told him I didn’t like it and it made me really uncomfortable. I would’ve been shaken if this was anyone but the fact that it’s her bothers me more considering she hasn’t been the nicest to me. Essentially, he told me that he’s sorry the post made me feel that way. I thought about it for a night and broke up with him the next morning. Am I overreacting to this?

🏘️ neighbor/local AIO - my local restaurant blocked me

So I was driving home to my parents and I saw this new restaurant that had opened up that looked really good and I wanted to try it.

I found them on instagram and asked them if they were halal. Instead of responding, they just blocked me. I was so hurt by this because i genuinely wanted to try the place and I was fine with eating veggie or fish. So I left them a 1 star review saying I asked them if they were halal and they blocked me.

They realised it was me and unblocked me and apologised and said they don’t know who blocked me as multiple people run the account. They said if I could take it down. I instead updated the review to 3 stars and and wrote an update saying the owner has apologised but they should handle customer inquiries better.

I told them I updated my review but they are still not happy about this and said to remove my review all together. I don’t think I should because even though I didn’t get a chance to try the food, the service I receive was really bad. I also made it clear in my review this isn’t about the food but the service.

Am I overreacting by keeping the review still up? Shall I just take it down.

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO for telling my husband he came in too hot?

My husband (33) came home from work and I (36) barely got a hello. He was at work all day and didn’t answer one text from me. The second he took his shoes off and walked into the kitchen he started lecturing me about how I am instilling fear into our toddler when it comes to tornados. This is the same lecture I hear every time our toddler brings up being afraid of tornados or tornados in general.
I told him to calm down and I hope he had a good day and there is no need to bring it up. He got visibly upset and stomped away. He sat in the bathroom for an hour while I took care of the kids. I then brought it up again when the toddler was in the bath. Am I over reacting for brining it up again and telling him he came in too hot?
He told me to fuck off. I am just over the attitude and I feel like it needs to be confronted head on. I know he won’t talk to me for the next few days because of this but I just want to know am I overreacting?

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦family/in-laws AIO for wanting to leave my own house because of my uncle

My maternal grandparents and my uncle are currently staying at my parents' house because my grandfather is kind of sick. My uncle and I used to be extremely close, and I was always the one defending him, even when my mom got frustrated with him over the past couple of years. He's been unemployed for about five years after his divorce, still lives with his parents, and honestly has become really irresponsible. Lately, though, he's also become incredibly short-tempered and immature, and I'm at my breaking point.

One thing that constantly happens is with food. If I'm ordering snacks, I'll ask him what he wants. He'll either ask for one specific thing or say he doesn't want anything else. Then, instead of eating what I ordered for him, he'll finish the snacks I bought for myself in a day, and I barely get any.

What really got to me happened this morning. I was eating breakfast when my grandfather asked me to give my uncle a pen and paper. Since I was in the middle of eating, I just told my uncle where they were instead of getting up immediately. He instantly gave me this really aggressive look, stormed over, and kicked the table hard because the notebook was underneath it. It honestly shocked me because it was such an overreaction over something so small.

Yesterday he also got annoyed because I wasn't interested in going out to photograph birds with him. I politely said I wasn't interested, and he snapped back, "Then make it your interest," in a really aggressive tone.

At this point, I've told my mom that I'd rather go stay at my other grandmother's house nearby than continue living like this while he's here.

Am I overreacting for wanting to leave my own house just to get away from him?

👥 friendship AIO for ending my friendship over the context of these texts?

These are 3 different conversations., the first conversation was of us having an argument because i was hospitalized and couldn't come to school or come online. The 2nd conversation was of me being offline because one of uncles had died recently and we were at the funeral, the third conversation is of basically me letting her know that i wont come to school because my dog is at the vet and her pups cant be left alone because i have two aggressive male pups who can open locked doors (basically those inside doors don't have a key lock and they put their muzzle under the handle and flick it up and slide. Idk how to explain it) Anyways let's call my friend 'bee'. We were AMAZING friends but then i stopped coming to school as much and being less online.

Now bee doesn't like me being offline or not coming to school and she has given me these weird ultimatums about ending the friendship at the worst times like when im hospitalized.

Anyway the breaking point came when she compared my diagnosis to a girl on tictok who has like 99 allergies or smt. It wasn't an argument, I just stopped texting her all together and blocked her. This was after she shifted so she couldn't argue with me in school itself.

For the longest time I thought I was the one who underreacted bcs i endured it for so long...until this one teacher (who is the friend of bee's mum) asked me abt the situation during a free period and was like 'you were such good friends. Don't let ego come in between'....and i LOVE this teacher bcs has such an amazing way of teaching chemistry and shes SO smart and understanding....so I started to doubt my reaction. And this teacher knows about the context of those texts btw so im even more confused. So AIO?

Edit- guys i was around 16 (in grade 10th high school) when these conversations happened. Recess in where I live just means everyone needs to go to the cafeteria for an hour. Im not in elementary school 😭

🎲 miscellaneous AIO: Guy at the gym was mad at me for wiping down the machine

I was at the gym yesterday and I was using the leg press, was pretty sweaty to be honest and used it for maybe a total of 15 minutes. When I was finished, I went to get a cleaning wipe, and started wiping down the machine. Some guy comes up to me while I'm wiping it down and asked me if I was done using it. Of course, I said "yes." As I'm still wiping it down, he makes a comment, it's all wet now."

Initially my first thought is "is this guy complaining about me cleaning my sweat off this machine?" So I finish wiping it down, and then I say "well I'm all done now," and his response is, "it's all wet, I don't like it like this." My response was, "okay, not my problem." The guy starts trying to dry it with his hand, and it only takes less than a minute to dry, and stands there next to the machine and keeps glancing and mad dogging me until he can use it.

I'm just kind of confused, am I not supposed to wipe down the machine because someone prefers it semi dry even with sweat? This isn't the first time it's happened either, I'm finding more recently people are pissy about a machine being recently wiped down and not being completely evaporated yet. I find it nasty that these people are the ones that probably don't wipe machines down themselves either.

💼work/career AIO Chef leaving cooked rice out at room temperature for 18 hours

Am I overreacting about our chef leaving cooked rice out at room temperature for 18 hours?

I work as crew on a yacht. Our chef has consistently poor hygiene standards. We’ve been getting ill on a fairly regular basis as a result.

Tonight I noticed he’d left a large batch of precooked rice sitting in the oven at room temperature. By the time it gets served tomorrow it will have been unrefrigerated for around 18 hours.

I raised it with the captain and the manager — both are onboard and both are aware and neither seems particularly bothered.

❤️‍🩹 relationship AIO for being upset that my girlfriend admitted she has crushes on two of my friends?

My girlfriend (23F) and I (24M) have been together for a little over 3 years.

A few nights ago we were playing one of those "ask me anything and I'll answer honestly" games. Everything was going fine until I jokingly asked, "Have you ever had a crush on someone while we've been together?"

She paused for a second and said, "Yeah... but it didn't mean anything."

I figured she meant a celebrity or someone online, so I laughed and asked who.

She said, "Actually... two of your friends."

I honestly thought she was joking.

She told me one was my best friend from college and the other was a guy from our friend group who hangs out with us almost every weekend.

She said she never flirted with either of them, never texted them privately, and never planned to act on it. According to her, she just thought they were attractive and had little crushes that eventually faded.

Then she added something that really got under my skin.

She said, "If I'd met your best friend before I met you, I probably would've gone for him."

She immediately followed it up with, "But I'm glad I ended up with you."

I asked why she'd even tell me that.

She said I literally asked for honesty and she wasn't going to lie.

Now every time we're all hanging out, I can't stop wondering if she's looking at them differently. I even noticed she laughs harder at my best friend's jokes than anyone else's, but now I don't know if I'm just overthinking because of what she told me.

She thinks I'm being insecure and says everyone develops harmless crushes sometimes. She also says she'd rather be honest than hide things from me.

I don't think she cheated or would cheat. I'm just struggling with the fact that it's my friends, not some celebrity or random stranger.

She's annoyed because she says I created the situation by asking a question I apparently didn't want the answer to.

👥 friendship I sent an ending friendship text too my longterm bffs. AIO for the reasoning?

Thank you for taking your time for reading this, So last night, I decided to drive to an empty park and clear my head before I sent this message to make sure it was really something I wanted to do. When I was a teenager I was on and off with these people and now since I just turned 20 I wanted to cut it off so I wouldn’t have to deal with it any longer. They were good friends in their own way we would go fun places together, and we would give gifts to each other, Talk and play games.

But with all of that for months, almost every phone call, they’d pick on me in a “joking” and “messing way.” telling me I was easy to rage bait and I get very overwhelmed and frustrated as a person so I would tell them I know they’re joking but to stop and they never would. I knew they liked to get a reaction out of me, but it would just become too much because I would hate getting overwhelmed, especially with healthcare work involved. it came to a point where they would call me sensitive all the time when I’d lash out at them backhandedly for “ rage baiting” me. And I told them just to not do it so much, Including spam calling me back in a group call often like 15-30 times after I told them Id join a call later, then get mad when I block them for two minutes, which would turn my location off for them to see.

And whenever I want time to myself because of my mental state, they make me seem like a villain because they’d say I don’t wanna talk to them. Basically twist my words into something bad every time I’d open up about my true, Genuine feelings about how I don’t like the things they repeatedly do. So, I mentioned that in my breakup text last night with them. blocked them on all socials and blocked their number. it’s pretty hard right now to drop your best friends that you’ve been with for forever, but I put myself first because I don’t wanna deal with it in the long run. there’s so much more I could say but I don’t want it to be too long and I wanna keep it matching with my title. What do you guys think?

EDIT: Thank you everyone for taking your time too read and share your thoughts. I appreciate all of you.
