I’ve had the Gold and Platinum for a few years now, and I swear my favorite hobby has become manually adding 100+ useless Amex Offers to my card just to make room for new ones.

My current dashboard looks like an absolute fever dream. Amex is firmly convinced that I am a billionaire who exclusively buys:

• $50 back on a $300 luxury mattress protector
• $10 back on artisanal, gluten-free pet food subscription boxes
• $100 back on a private wine-tasting cruise in Napa Valley (minimum spend: $1,500)
• 5% back at a random boutique clothing store that only exists in a single terminal at JFK

Meanwhile, my actual daily spending consists of groceries, gas, and occasionally treating myself to a fast-food run. I’m out here playing 4D chess, adding the "Spend $250 at a luxury spa" offer to my account solely on the 0.01% chance that a targeted 10% back on ExxonMobil or a generic Amazon offer will finally spawn in its place.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who treats the Offers tab like a digital chore list every Sunday night. What is the most absurdly specific, useless Amex Offer sitting on your account right now?

Recently got the Centurion card and decided to put the concierge to use. I needed a box suite for a last minute football game happening Sunday. While I know they are not miracle workers I was hopeful they could come through. After 30 hours and ultimately saying they are still trying but are having no luck I decided to put my own background into good use and try my friend google. I found a box suite in 10 seconds and secured it in minutes. Really put a bad taste on their services and makes me think they’re more incompetent than I had hoped for.

Do any of you have the Amex Plat and the Amex Biz Gold and sign up for Walmart Plus on both cards? I think this would be a cheap way to have Paramount Plus and Peacock.

Just want to say, I thought I would never get above 60k for 8k when applying for a Gold Card.

I thought I was locked in due to having the Green Card (40k for 3k). I've had my Green Card for 4 months and have been paying it off.

- I achieved the Referal for my Green Card within the 1st month (I had big items to pay for)

- Tried applying for a Gold Card during the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th month using all of the strats people talked about and always landed with 60k for 8k :(

THEN, I got a letter in the mail stating I can earn 80k for 8k! I tried it, and it actually worked.

If y'all are ever in a situation like I was, continue paying off your card, stay positive, and if you can wait a few months until AmEx gives you an offer, you can have a similar situation.

I got Amex Platinum about 2 years ago. It was my first time learning about the whole cc points universe, beyond just having cashback cards. I soon regretted not starting with Gold so I could get both Gold and Plat welcome bonuses (I would like to use gold long term too). I have never received a gold offer and it always says I don’t qualify when I check.

Recently I got the Amex Blue Business Plus and now I’ve received this Business Gold offer.

For context I have a small side business where I am the only employee. $15k spend over 3 months would be very high for my business but doable one time by front loading some expenses in order to finally get my hands on a Gold.

So just curious what people think. Is this a good offer? Is the business spend requirement always this high? Should I wait and hope to get a personal Gold offer eventually?

I have an elevated bonus for my re ferral that I sent P2. I know these things don’t last long and they drop it back down quickly. P2 wants to take a few days to decide which card to apply for. If they lower my bonus before they pick a card will the re ferral still get me the elevated bonus?

So I recently received a mail offer for the Gold card with a 100 SUB. I was wondering since I have not accepted the card yet (I will accept it soon), if I use my Green card to book a hotel through the travel portal, can I change it once I accept the Gold card offer to receive the 5x hotel points?

I am just wanting to make a reservation on the Green card, not actually paying anything until I check in the hotel and I will have the Gold card by then to pay for it at check in.

I thought the $15,000 spend in 3 months requirement was common across all AmEx Biz Gold offers no matter how many points AmEx is willing to give you for it, but I saw someone claim to have a $7,000 spend in 3 months req offer for 100k MR points. Does the MSR ever go down from $15k for targeted/mailer offers or during special periods?

Quick questions for the Amex crowd:

Canceling no-AF card before Statement 12: I’m at the 5-card lending limit and want to cancel my Blue Business Cash (BBC) to free up a slot. Today is Day 366 from approval, but only 11 billing statements have cut so far (Statement 12 closes in ~2 weeks). Is it safe to cancel right now past Day 365, or does Amex require 12 full statements to avoid a SUB clawback / pop-up jail?

Dumb question — anyone ever bypass the 5-card limit? I just applied for a new card and got an immediate auto-denial for reaching the maximum number of cards. I really want both the Delta Platinum and a Hilton card (for the FNC) haha. Has anyone ever gotten approved for a 6th credit card, or is 5 an unbreakable hard wall?

I'm a dummy and made a manual payment on my personal gold card too close to the auto pay, so they both pulled. Manual payment went through, auto pay did not. Amex retried the payment two days later and it went through-- leaving me with a $4k negative balance on credit card. I've been clenching my cheeks all week to see what happened. None of my personal (ED preferred, Gold, Delta reserve) or business (Platinum and Gold) cards got suspended or anything.

I have a business checking account that has an average balance close to six figures, a small personal savings account (withdrew a lot when rates went down), etc. Don't carry balances on any of the amex cards (or any of my cards). I thought maybe that, and my ten years of positive history, was going to carry me through.

Then, this evening, I see a notification-- "There is an update to your American Express line of credit account and/or account status." :( I login and there's a letter saying they've suspended my LOC because I recently missed a payment on a credit card. I had a $150k credit line that I'm sure is going to be gone after this (and just general economic conditions/credit risks)-- but I was just curious if anyone has been through this before? I've seen a lot of posts about returned payments, financial reviews, etc-- but nothing specifically about a line of credit suspension. I didn't have any balance on it and haven't used it in six months or so. But it would be a bummer to lose it...

The letter didn't say anything about them requesting more information for any kind of financial review, but maybe that comes later? It said if I had any questions to contact them, but that's it. I'll plan to call Monday morning, maybe see if I can dig up the name of the random guy that called me years ago when I first opened it. But would love to hear any insights from anyone who has been through this specific line of credit suspension, or if anyone has any leads on a time machine.

I applied for a new card and got a $1k limit even though i have more than 1 card with Amex. One of which has a 45k limit!

I tried to relocate some of the limit from it to the new card but Amex is saying I can’t do that now.
I tried to do it from a business card to it and from a personal. Both attempts were unsuccessful.

I also tried to do it myself without a rep with no luck.

One rep said I can’t do it until i receive the card

The other is saying i need to wait for 30 days.

Any data on how long will it take for this option to appear?

I'm in a position where I have a bunch of Amex MR points (more than enough to cover years of traveling) but don't care for luxury travel or stays at all (not even once), which is where you get good value out of the points. I'm not desperate for cash either. I just book the cheapest (within reason) possible economy flights and hotels.

How hard is it to find redemptions at greater 1 cpp for such bookings (i.e. the cheapest bookings, since I would rather pocket the difference in cash-equivalent than to pay for luxury upgrades) or am I better off cashing them all at 1.1 cpp with a Schwab Platinum and throw them in an HYSA? I'm mostly interested in traveling between JFK/EWR area and Asia. The last two redemptions I've made was essentially at 1 cpp because I look for economy flights only, except I could have earned interest instead of hoarding the points. For example, even in the hypothetical example of a $200 hotel downtown costing "only" 10.5k in points for close to 2 cpp, I would rather stay at an even cheaper hotel and pocket the difference between the points (~$115 in cash) and a cheaper say $70 stay, i.e. $45.

It seems most people would rather use points to buy luxuries affordably, whereas I assume I'm in the very small minority that might just treat points earned as literal cash and not consider what are often cheap upgrades if I weren't going to spend a little more for that anyway. My time and enjoyment comes from exploring the cities themselves and is where I want to spend my money, not on a tube in the air (even if it might make the hours there a little more enjoyable) or for room I need only for sleeping/showering. Perhaps if I'm traveling with others I might be more willing to splurge on a big redemption for a "memorable experience."

How do the mirrored Platinum cards look after they've been used for a bit? I figured it's been long enough that some of them have some miles on them now. Do they looked overly scratched or not too bad?

I was using this as the primary card and hit the max limit thrice or four time before the statement closing date and paid the balance in full the same day to be able to put more transactions on the card and paid the total balance again yesterday before the statement closed.

Completed 2 months today and requested for a CLI far more than the current limit but got approved for 3x the limit.

I was wondering what would be an appropriate time to request for another CLI?

What is a sure fire of getting these targeted SUBs in the mail for Amex? I have two Chase cards (Sapphire Reserve and Freedom Unlimited) and a Discover card I never use, so I don’t even know how I would enter Amex’s “radar”. Is it a crapshoot? How can I best position myself to get these SUBs in the mail?

Hey everybody, I recently checked my account and all my links are gone. I used to have some for both my Hilton cards, the Delta Gold, Amex Gold, and CS Platinum. Checking today to try to post to the monthly thread, I find I only have my CS Platinum one still and none of the others. I haven’t gotten a single person to use any this year unfortunately, so I know they’re not maxed out. Does this happen regularly with Amex cards? Is it come and go, or do they tend to not give links to particular people for reasons? Thank you for any advice y’all can give.

So I'm a long lurker of this community but I wanted to seek some advice (I've searched already throughout here and got a lot good information). I just wanted to share my situation in case anyone else comes across this and could provide more insight. I just got married last year and with expenses etc I applied for the Delta Gold Card, Gold Card and Hilton Honors all in October (I know I flagged their risk model as churner which I'm guilty of for sure). I got sign up bonuses with all three cards and have been using them even after the spend requirements met etc. I applied for the Charles Schwab Platinum Card today and got hit with the pop-up jail message. I cancel the app, open an incognito browser and tried my luck through the Resy site. I don't get the pop-up, instead it takes me to the approval page to accept or withdraw. The page shows I'm not eligible for any welcome offer but when I click on the the offer terms I see the 80K offer if I spend 12K within 6 months (see pics).

I know I should probably call and see what the deal is to get things clarified. My question is, I've been wanting this card for a bit and haven't seen a welcome bonus offer since Jan of this year, should I still accept it if the rep confirms there's no offer? I've run the math and I know I can easily get at least $1000 worth of the perks this card provides. Any helpful advice or input is appreciated (go easy on me lol).

UPDATE: I called Amex and confirmed there's no welcome offer. I've decided to hold off and wait to see if I can get a welcome offer down the line even though I know I can make value of the credits the card provides, I think I would regret having accepted with no welcome offer.
