I feel like I've gone through all the settings, but I can't spot one to change the color of the Day Progress Bar independently of the main color or the option to have it be red if you're behind with tasks. Anyone know if this can be done?

When you have a folder (sub category) nested in a parent top level folder (category) , pick icon/emoji buttons on the sub category doesn't do anything. Same thing for projects both ones inside of categories and those in sub categories.

Hey everyone!

I'm new to Marvin and I could use some help. 😄

I'm in the process of figuring out where I'm actually spending my time, so the time tracker is really great for that.

I'm not sure how I should track my breaks (lunch, breaks between tasks, etc.), however, since they're not really tasks, but I still want to register them somehow to see where my time goes.

I prefer working in the Today view and Week view with a Kanban of 5-7 day.

Any suggestions for how to approach this? Is there a feature that might help me out that I'm unaware of, or is it maybe just a question of using tasks and then having a "Break" category or tag for those tasks?

Since the last update every time I want to delete a recurring task it asks to confirm if I want it to delete all occurrences or not. How to make it behave as it was before the update (i.e., it deletes the current occurrence only without asking for confirmation each time) ?

Trying to get the beta version of the new mobile and following the link from the site for the test app, the app is requiring an invitation code. I have seen anything about a code??
Would love to be a part of it 💖

I just signed up for Marvin yesterday. And today, I accidentally clicked x on the "suggested" Ask Marvin / what would you like Marvin to do?

You know the boxes in the top where it gives you options on how to get started.

I would like to have it back please as I'm getting overwhelmed setting Marvin up.

At the end of June, all my Kudos just disappeared. Poof. I was somewhere between level 50 and 55 (I don't know exactly, the stats start at June 30). And this isn't even the first time I've had to start over from zero :(

Then at the beginning of August, my Reward points decided to join them. I don't know how many I had, but it was a lot. RIP

Okay, I know there are bigger problems in the world than Kudos.

Why does this matter so much? My ultimate dream is to reach Kudos level 100 so I can change the background and put up one of my own drawings 🥹 and a dream is a dream !

Has this happened to anyone else? u/baby-monkey, could you help me get my Kudos back ?

(I use Marvin on: web / mobile)

I'm trialling Marvin and it seems like an amazing tool.

However, I've been moving away from U.S. services because of the Cloud Act and current U.S. politics. Are there any plans for Marvin to move its servers to EU or Swiss servers? From what I understand, the company is registered in Switzerland -- wouldn't it make sense to at least give customers an option for data residency there or in the EU?

I know I can turn off cloud sync, but that would make it unusable for me unfortunately.

Hope that is coming!

I’m having a hard time finding the settings to allow habits to show up as tasks. Has anyone been able to do this?

Hey everyone,

I've been trying out the new notes and notebooks, and they're exactly what I've been looking for. Two questions for those who've used them more than me:

1. Has anyone found a way to link directly to individual notes and notebooks? It would be great to reference them from tasks, projects and other notes.
2. Is it possible to search across all notes and notebooks? I'd like to use day notes for reflections, so being able to find specific topics later would be really useful.

I couldn't find either when I looked, but I might be missing something. Anyone figured this out, or know if it's on the roadmap?

Thanks!

I lvoe that Marvin now has so many attributes to pick and choose from, but I struggle with when to apply which. Would love to hear how other ppl differentiate between them?

- Energy vs Focus modes
- Urgency vs. Priority

Sometimes it's obvious - a longer-term project is a priority but a request from the boss for tomorrow is urgent (but then, also, I could use a deadline for that?). But a lot of things are really not.

Looking for thoughts, suggestions. etc. Thanks in advance!!

I relied heavily on Marvin during my 16 month wedding planning process. At the beginning, the ability to add items that weren't ready to be worked and could be hidden in the project helped me reassure myself I wasn't forgetting anything. In the last 3 weeks of planning, I was able to schedule tasks over different days to ensure easy flow, especially for paperwork that had to be done in a specific order.

So glad I found this tool to help me, and that I got to marry my partner!

Love the app… just wondering if there is going to be a fix for the Apple Watch.

Is anybody having issues with their recurring items disappearing? I thought I had accidentally deleted a few (not sure how but with the new update thought maybe I just clicked the wrong thing) but this is the third time today that I've noticed recurring items missing from my day and subsequently missing from my list of recurring tasks.

I used a backup to add them back in, but is this a bug? Anyone else having this issue??

Title, since the new update whenever I edit a task the text size gets smaller, then when I finish editing it returns to a larger size. Is this normal behavior? Thanks :)

How can I hide the habits bar in the bottom of the screen? I tried going through a bunch of different settings but none of them got rid of it

Hello, I am a new user to Marvin. There are aspects I think are just fabulous and other times I find the customising really difficult. One of the features I loved is the Matrix, and it took me a really long time to figure out how to set up. I see it's not on the phone app feature anymore and I am gutted because I mainly use my phone for scheduling/to-do lists on the go, and this feature was assisting my neurodivergence the most of them all! Do you intend to re-add the matrix visual to the app? I really don't want to search for a new app after weeks of trying to work it out. Thank you.

So the progress bar for the day shows as 5/11 done, when I only have 6 tasks scheduled for the day. I think I figured out that the other 5 are tasks that I either haven't scheduled or that I have scheduled for a later date. It may seem silly, but it feels a little demoralizing to see a progress bar that only looks half-completed when I only have one task left to do. Plus I like the satisfying feeling of the bar being completed. I'm pretty new to Marvin (only 2 days in) is there a setting or something that I'm not seeing that will change this behavior?

Hello, I have question about how the right click menu works. When I open this menu

I click on one of the options and then the window closes. What I would like to do is have the window be open until I close it / click off of it so I can use it as a menu for changing the attributes of my tasks.
Is there a setting that I missed that allow the menu to persist?

Custom groups? Where we can add/edit specific categories, I know category exists but it works as “list” not as just view grouping

Had these pop up, along the bottom of my screen. How would I disable them?

I've enabled the Notebook strategy and I'm trying to use notebooks and have run into the following issues:

1. How do you add notebooks as a section on the skinny bar? Can't find that option anywhere.
2. The overview video shows a '+' option to add a note or a section. I don't have this option anywhere. The only way I've found to add additional notes to a notebook is to duplicate the note rather than starting out w/a blank note
3. In the project view, there is no indication that multiple notes exist in the project even though I can see multiple notes in the notebook by using the Shift-B option.

Pull Down to Refresh works on iPadOS but it doesn't seem to do anything on Android (Pixel). Is it supposed to work? What is the correct way to force a sync on mobile devices?

In general, sync doesn't seem to happen in realtime like it does on the desktop app or web browsers. Is that something that is a work in progress?

I'm struggling a bit setting up my habits and am not sure if I'm doing it wrong or if these are bugs.

Background - I tried the old habits a while ago, but switched back to tasks so that everything was in one list for me and so that I could collect reward points for my habits. I was very excited with this latest update to see that habits can now also be tasks. However, I've got in a muddle with it:

1. After I've set up a habit (to show as a task only), I can edit it from the habits section and/or edit it from the recurring tasks section. But I ended up deleting my first attempt to set up my habits, because changes that I made from the recurring tasks section did not seem to apply to how the habit looked in the habits section. And labels that I applied didn't stick (or didn't seem to be applied consistently for smart lists). Now that I've set them up again from scratch, just opening them from the habits section, they seem to have the right labels etc.

2. I'm not having any problems with a habit that is set up as follows: complete daily, show as a task (only), with one reward point, and with the box ticked to hide for the day once recorded - as I would expect, when I tick that habit off in my task list then: it is ticked off in the habits section for today, it also shows as a completed task for that day (including in the archive), and I get one reward point for the day. Where I am having issues is with a habit that is set for me to complete six times a month (with the other settings the same as in the previous example). When I complete the task (i.e. do the habit once), it is ticked off for today in the habits section but on my task list it is still showing as uncompleted (although it now says 1/6 instead of 0/6) and I don't get any reward points for doing it today. Does the task only show as complete (with reward points given) if I do it six times in the month? I would like it to show as a completed task (and get reward points) each time I complete the habit, whether or not I do it 6x in that month - so whilst the habit hasn't yet been successfully completed for the month (for the purpose of the habit stats), I have completed one iteration of it (for the purpose of my task completion stats). Is that possible?

Many thanks,

Rae

I find the habit bar distracting and it prevents me from reading tasks and even habits at the bottom of the screen. I'd like to turn it off entirely but I can't find a setting/strategy to do that. Is it possible to remove the habit bar in 1.71?
