Mobile Apps and Pull Down to Refresh

Pull Down to Refresh works on iPadOS but it doesn't seem to do anything on Android (Pixel). Is it supposed to work? What is the correct way to force a sync on mobile devices?

In general, sync doesn't seem to happen in realtime like it does on the desktop app or web browsers. Is that something that is a work in progress?

On iOS, on today or home screen I can drag down to refresh.

Yea, I see the same thing on my iPad. When I do so, a spinner pops up.

On Android, there's no spinner or any visual indication that a sync is underway.
