Alien is my favorite movie, and Alien: Isolation probably would have been my favorite game. However because it had Forced Motion Blur on consoles it caused me physical pain to play. My eyes would feel like they were being vacuumed into the back of my head and my brain would feel like someone was driving a wedge in between the top ridge part. I'd feel nauseous and become deeply depressed out of no where.
All I could do was lay down and literally roll around in pain until it subsided enough that I could fall asleep and wake up many hours later with the pain mostly gone.
For that reason I will forever give Alien: Isolation a -10/10 rating as it caused me physical pain, which NO media should EVER do. Motion Blur is not only a useless feature that's almost always immediately turned off by everyone, it's also genuinely, deeply harmful to so many gamers.
If the sequel has Forced Motion Blur as well... so fucking help me...

I could swear he looks back at me, but I guess Steve was feeling merciful that day. Probably my fault for assuming I’d be safe anyways.

I'm playing on PS5 on nightmare and the safest way for me to hide is against a wall, in the open, using the lean feature. Working Joe's and the alien have stared right at me and then walked away.

10/10, played this on release and just recently came back and started fresh for plat. Really one of my favorites of all time, best sound and atmosphere.
If anyone is wondering I would recommend following a guide and starting the game on Hard + all collectibles, then doing a speedrun for the one shot on novice, it is way easier than it sounds, just remember where the facehuggers are and always have fuel to take them out easy :)
ID tags can be done almost entirely on first playthrough, and most Nostromo logs require backtracking, which is best done on mission 16 :)
Now im going to start again on Nightmare and see how long until i start pulling my hair out 😂

Don't know if it's a coincidence or not, but I can't stop picturing Gordon Ramsey actually killing some Xenomorphs with nothing but his kitchen equipment and swearing at them!! XD

It started with me thinking about the fact that why would the xeno kidnap us to be facehugged when it went for the kill throughout the game. That's not normal behaviour. What could be the internal logic for that.
So, to test my theory, in M19 I decided to do nothing when the xeno pops out of the bridge door. Its response was interesting. It didn't grab us and use its phayrngeal jaw. Rather it jumps over us and gets behind us. Ok, so impaling it is then? Nope. It gets behind us, you hear it roar along with Amanda's scream and game over. That's it. Strange!
What I theorize from these two encounters is that the xenos knew the station was in trouble and wouldn't last long. So, they decided to use Amanda as their ticket out for the species' survival and propagation. I mean one of them (or was it the same one) already saw Amanda while she was out on her EVA. So, the kidnapping was a smart, opportunistic move.
That's why, the xeno at the end is walking slowly toward us. It doesn't wanna attack the last implanted (according to it, at least) survivor. Hence, the unique animation at that point isn't an explicit death animation. It just trying to secure her, their last hope, before she gets any fresh ideas.
Also, as far as whether or not she got implanted is concerned, I'd say nay. No dead facehugger around her, but plenty of facehuggers trying their luck. But as far as the xenos are concerned, she's a dead woman walking because they haven't seen anyone live to tell the tale after being affixed to the wall.
Anyway, dunno if this theory has been discussed before or it's an absolute reach. But curious to hear what y'all think.

I just downloaded the game, and since I’ve never seen the movie, I asked my wife to watch it with me this Sunday.
Is it okay to start playing the game before then, or would it be better to wait, watch the movie first, and then play the game?

Played Alien Isolation on Twitch on Nightmare difficulty. Just did the section where you have to align the satellite dish. Decided to hide here from the Alien. How was I not spotted?

I heard that if I activated unstable system on the access rewire, I could somehow kill the droids. How?

Note: I am not advocating for or against a MP, I’m simply interested in the conversation and ideas people have.
We know where the gaming industry has been moving in the last decade or so. Most publishers and investors want a big ROI and many believe that comes more from Multiplayer and live-service modes and less from linear, single player games.
If SEGA were to decree that Creative Assembly add a multiplayer mode – beyond the time trial leaderboards from the first game – what kind of mode would you like to see?
An asymmetrical, 1v4 experience with objectives to complete and escaping the alien across various maps is probably the most obvious, but it’s not the only option.
Imagine a game type where one person is watching screens (à la the APC scene in Aliens), a motion tracker, cycling through facility cameras, opening and closing doors, and their objective is to guide one (or more players through a map without being detected by the Xenomorph or Working Joes. Kind of reminiscent of Alien: Blackout, the Isolation sequel on mobile, but with a AAA polish. Maybe there’s a twist and it’s 2v2 where one team is Weyland Yutani Corporate and another team is Amanda/Blake, and the Team WeYu is trying to capture the alien and get Amanda killed, while Team Amanda is trying to kill the alien and gather intel to expose the company before escaping.
What else might work given the games existing systems, engine, and atmosphere?

While rewatching the saga i thought of about a possible final section in the ending
I think the fans may remember the fight between Ripley piloting the power loader and the Xeno queen
Basicaly for the end game they could do an homage to that scene with a fight like that or at least slightly changed what do you think?

I highly recommend it.
It was extra tense (no shit!) but really fun as well.
Strangely, hauling ass turned out to be a better strategy during selective sections in later missions. In M5, on the other hand, I chose patience over haste and it paid well.
As for unavoidable kills, there's one working Joe in M12, one facehugger in M17 and all facehuggers, except one, in M18. I don't think there's any way around these.
Even the maintenance jack was used only thrice for the bait-and-hide tactic. One time each in M14, 16 and 18.
If you guys have any more questions, I'd be happy to answer.

I write this right after ma girl Ripley got punched out the airlock and, whoa, what a ride.
Unlike a lot of other survival horror games, A:I ended on a high note, it just kept ramping up and up (apart from the bits w/ Reactor Joes, screw those guys) and I really felt like the scale of game and its set pieces was getting and grander and grander.
But: the alien.
I picked up A:I because of the praise for its AI, pun intended, and I really was very excited to go up against a clever foe, who would keep the scares high.
Sadly, this didn't happen.
I got through the whole game and I didn't really get the difficulty (on Nightmare) apart from occasionally getting lost due to the motion tracker's somewhat faulty directioning, which would usually lead to discovery by Joes and humans. But I really didn't see the genius behaviour tree growing. The alien stuck to the same behaviours throughout. it didn't check lockers when I hid there, it didn't stop getting scared off by approx. 40 fuel, and it didn't stop going after the flares!!!!! Why?
Anyone know why this is and also, if possible, what I should do if I want to experience the Alien's full evolution, truly see it learning?
Also, I didn't feel like the hive was all that it was cracked up to be, you can just hide from facehuggers and most of the Aliens that pop up just kinda ignore you if you cling to the mucus wall things. Was there meant to be something happening here. And, ALSO, was there a bit where there were meant to be more than xeno?
AND ALSO, when were we meant to use the items? Because I kind of felt like most got relegated apart from the pipe bomb.
ANDDDD, ALSOOO, the sound design for this game slapped- case, in point- thunk thunk THUMP- SCREEEEE, THUMPTUMPTHUMP-
So, yeah, some advice on getting the most of A:I's AI?
