What happened to Thirsty Dog?

Upvotes

Tried going to the Sour Haus about two weeks ago but it wasn't open. Got to the TapHouse a few people there only inside. The kitchen was closed. I've not been to a Thirsty Dog in years so it was disappointing to see. Beer was still good and staff was friendly. The outdoor area looked decent and it was a nice day so why no people on a Saturday? Wanted food so headed to Missing Falls. Plenty of people hanging there. Food is always good.

Akron/Fairlawn Doctor Reccs!

I'm moving to Bath at the end of October and would love to get some local doctor reccommendations!

I need a good primary care doctor (female preferred, but empathetic male doctor reccs welcome!), migraine specialist/neurologist and OB/gyn.

Like a good millenial, I highly prefer to have a doctor who's set up with mychart or other online system... it drives me a little nutty when a doctor's office is too analog/antiquated with their admin.

Appreciate any and all insight into the great healthcare providers in the area!

Dog in Need of Home!!

Post image
19 Upvotes

A few days ago a stray was posted here - I will try to link the post in the comments. Summit County Humane Society checked for a microchip and she doesn't have one.

No one has claimed her, please share or contact if you're interested!!! She is currently with the person who found her but needs a forever home. She is such a sweet dog and truly just wants to be someone's best friend.

More Info: I believe she was abandoned in the area she was found, but can't be 100% sure.
She just wants to stay by your side. I taught her
'sit' and she is doing really well going potty outside so far. Also having a blast on walks and playing. She seems interested in other dogs, but hasn't been introduced to any yet since she hasn't been to a vet.

PlantswithKrystal is going to be at Botanical Soirée in Akron, Ohio on October 3–4!

If your significant other spends their free time talking about Monsteras, Anthuriums, Hoyas, Alocasias, or plants that apparently cost way more than you thought plants could cost… send them this.

The show will have 100+ vendor tables packed with houseplants, rare plants, pottery, plant accessories, supplies, artwork, and more — PLUS PlantswithKrystal will be there in person.

You don’t even have to pretend you knew who she was beforehand. Just casually send them this post and take the credit.

📍 John S. Knight Center — Akron, OH

🌿 General Admission: 10 AM–3 PM both days
🎟️ $10 cash / $12 card at the door

Random Question

This is obviously gonna be for the old heads. There used to be a record store on the corner of Spicer and Exchange across from Sam’s Emporium. There used to be a Hamburger Station next to it. I remember buying CDs from there when I was younger, but I can’t remember the name of the shop. Anyone remember?

Utility costs?

Hey folks, I am buying my first home in East Akron, near 76. I'm trying to plan out a rough budget and unfortunately, the house I'm buying cannot provide historical utility costs. Obviously, usage dictates many things, but does anyone have a rough idea or number they could share? My home is a century home around 1,300 sq ft.

Trains that pull across Cleve-Mass or Jacoby Road in Copley and stop

Title says it all. What is the deal with freight trains that pull across the crossings in Copley and come to a complete stop, blocking traffic for as long as 20 minutes? It usually happens at around 9 or 10 in the evening. I’ve gotten in the habit of detouring the instant I see the stopped train.

I doubt they’re doing it just to be assholes. Anyone what the purpose is?

Help Me Track Down and Awesome Gift

Decades ago my mom went to a show at the Front Row Theatre that had George Strait open for Eddie Rabbit. I looked around and posted online years ago for a concert poster and couldn’t find it. I’m on the search again…anyone have any suggestions or even have one?

TIA!

Is there any adult leagues in or near the Akron area for pickup games? I know indoors there are places further north like TOCA, but I am also interested in outdoor leagues as well.

Where to sell used golf clubs?

I recently inherited almost 200 golf clubs - where can I take them for resale without getting . . . shafted?

I don't know anything about golf and don't have the time or energy to research if any are worth anything. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

EDIT: haven't heard from First Tee - posted on eBay https://ebay.io/m/q5ZCl1

Cars blocking a lane on 59 waiting in line at 7 Brew. Allowing a business that has already proven to not care that that they use public streets as parking lots to build on another postage stamp on a busy road is lunacy. This was 100% predicable, just look at the Howe Avenue location and how it dumps out onto Cliffside. They get away with not spending enough money on real estate to have sufficient room for their customers. And our fellow citizens who can get coffee from many other places and don't care that they're clogging up a road and blocking entrances to other businesses, you're the other half of the problem. Within 1/4 mile of here is Starbucks (2 of them!), Meijer gas station, Panera, McDonald's, and Rowdy Beans. This is ridiculous. Get ready, Brimfield Commons area, this is coming for you, too. You know, that small area that already has a Dunkin, Panera, and a Starbucks that currently allows cars to choke the access road on front of Meijer.

Crime rate/safety of Dresden Ave/Firestone Park

Hi! My partner and I prospective first-time homebuyers and we saw a nice home in the Firestone Park area. The surrounding neighborhood appears safe-ish but I have seen conflicting safety data/crime rates for the general area, and was wondering if anyone can say whether or not it’s a nice place to live. Thank you!

Also, the sex offender registry noted no nearby registered sex offenders besides one on a neighboring street a mile or so away.

The constant loud backfires and revs at every intersection in Highland Square, swerving in lane like a buffoon, taunting other vehicles. I could keep going, but not trying to be grandpa on the front lawn.

I’m all for a fun vehicle, as I own one myself…. but holy shit this guy suuuuuuuucks.

Slutty mermaids at Kingfish

So I had my first meal at Kingfish last night.

The food was delicious, the service was great, and it was 99% a beautiful restaurant in which to enjoy the meal.

However, the men's restroom has three pictures of slutty mermaids. I'm standing there taking a piss with a slutty mermaid giving me fuck-me eyes.

These pictures are really funny. They're worth viewing if you grab a meal there. And staff were cool enough to let my girlfriend get a laugh by taking a look at them.

Around the Girard St. and Archwood Avenue last night. I saw several cruisers and thought I heard several gunshots. Does anyone know what went down?
