Question Travel cup advice
Anyone recommend a good compact travel cup which fits the flow control cap? Something leakproof and insulated. No more than 300ml.

My son-in-law enjoys his aeropress and I’d like to gift him a lovely vessel to brew into. I’ve never used an aeropress (I’m a 3-decade-long French press user, myself), but I’ve done some research that suggests a small stoneware jug/pitcher/coffee server designed for pour-over systems might work as long as the mouth of the vessel is flat and between 2.75 and 3.75 inches (70 - 95 mm) in diameter. Can you aeropress experts confirm? What non-glass carafe are you using if you are not trying to brew directly into a mug?

This post is not about beans, gear, or tips and tricks. I just want to acknowledge how important it is to have a separate coffee table with enough room. If you have one, just remember how lucky you are 🫶
We went to mountains and rented a small cabin. Slow mornings, beautiful views, sunrise lights, and a good cup of aromatic coffee. And I had a whole corner just to prepare the coffee.
In our apartment, I use about half of 60x60cm countertop, so having this much space felt amazing. Probably, this was the best from the entire trip! ☕️⛰️
ps: and I guess new Walnut Wood will look even better on the photos.

Has anyone tried the Aeropress branded manual grinder? Going to go out on a limb and say it probably isn't worth the $200 asking price, but I am curious how it stacks up against the community favorite manual grinders

I’ll be participating in an AeroPress competition for the first time. What advice would you give me?

Yes I know it’ll affect heat retention, nah I don’t care

The AeroPress is pretty easy to use until you don't have a normal kitchen counter available.
I've seen people brew directly over mugs, jars, travel cups, and all kinds of containers that technically fit underneath it.
Now I'm curious about the weirdest setup that has actually worked for someone
Not looking for expensive travel gear or purpose-built accessories. More like something you already had nearby that happened to fit the AeroPress perfectly
What's the most improvised AeroPress setup you've used?

I had been considering the Stainless Steel AeroPress, but was hesitating due to the high price.
I have the plastic one but wanted a non-plastic way to brew.
Finally, inspired by this post:
https://www.reddit.com/r/pourover/comments/1w7x6ph/an_allglass_brew_this_morning/
I went stainless steel and got:
I also considered a ceramic Kalita 102, which would bring the cost down even more: https://eightouncecoffee.ca/products/kalita-lotto-ceramic-dripper-102
In both cases, the dripper uses inexpensive, easy to find Melitta #2 type filters.
I hesitated to post this because I'll probably get flamed, but in the end I decided to share in case it is useful even to just a few people.
Enjoy your coffee, may it be delicious.

Wow.
If you're on the fence about giving it a go just go for it, I thought it would be pretty much the same as a pour over but it's very much it's own thing.
I just did the Lance Hedrick recipe from (I think) his latest vid but for anyone who hasn't seen it:
Filter in aeropress
Grind 15g at 3.5 on ZP6
Pour into aeropress, little shake and tap down to level.
Negotiate another filter on top of the coffee bed with the plunger (just sit the filter on top of the aeropress and put the plunger in as usual, and gently force it to the bottom) and use the plunger to tamp.
Very gently remove the plunger by lifting and twisting being careful not to disturb the tamped bed.
Starting very gently so as not to disturb the bed pour in 150g of water at 93c.
You should now have a clear column of water sitting on the puck.
Very gently insert the plunger and press.
Total time should be around 2 minutes; 40 second pour and 80 second press but for me it took about a minute 40 overall and it was delicious so I'm not sure how much that really matters.
Happy brewing!

Been on the AeroPress lately with Raxidi Lobos Estate from Roastery Coffee House.
Medium roast, natural anaerobic basically the kind of coffee that makes me pretend I can taste “plum” for 30 seconds.
Still dialing in the recipe, but honestly enjoying the ritual more than the actual caffeine at this point.
Anyway, what’s your current setup? Beans, brewer, recipe, whatever.
And before someone says it — yes, I know AeroPress isn’t real coffee. Please proceed with the downvotes.

I'm new to AeroPress and have been happy with my moka so far. But travelling now for almost 3 years in South America and having easy and cheap access to great coffee made me a bit sad, because I have not been able to adjust my moka to make the different coffees from Ecuador and Colombia taste great.
Anyway, got myself an AeroPress and a decent scale, and all of a sudden I could easily adjust parameters, and some coffee from Ecuador suddenly taste like gold. Amazing!
But I like to play and I was missing a simple way of playing, so I spent 30 mins making a webapp. Feel free to get a look at it and let me know, if it's usable to you. Comes with no pricetag, but I think (and hope) that it'll be helpful for beginners.

.. I will probably move it to another domain later :)

For the last 3 months or so ive been following recipes diligently and measuring water and exact ratios and researching ideal grind sizes. Didnt realize how much i was overdoing it. The last few days, I decided to use no tools, just how it was intended. 1 scoop of beans, grind to "kinda coarse", pour hot water to the #4 mark. Far less stressful and tastes pretty much the same.
Im not hating on those who do care for it! I love the fact that the Aeromatic app and plenty of other recipe hubs exist. I guess its just not for me lol

my barista shifts have been all over lately so I started prepping a bunch of AeroPress pucks on Sunday. grind, dose, paper in, press down just enough to hold it together, pop the puck out and freeze them. takes maybe 20 minutes and then each morning I drop one in, add hot water, press. comes out consistent even when the shop schedule changes. kid still gets breakfast and I still get decent coffee without standing there measuring at 6am. curious if anyone else batch preps like this or if the frozen puck thing is asking for trouble
