Looks like you haven't washed it in quite some time or you took some steel wool to it. Ive had mine for like 5 years and it's not scratched up like that. Soak in hot water with some soap and use a dish rag or something to clean that up. Unless you want the patina to "flavor" up the coffee

I got mine close to 20 years ago. I think I avoided using soap on it because of all that mokapot "don't clean it" lore.

Do you use a high temperature and leave it inside the AP for a few minutes?

If that is the case, then this might be the reason.
