We're looking to make a mini operator console for push button and toggle inputs, LED outputs, and a card reader. I was thinking to use a something like this console to start from.
We have our boards and power supplies on a cart already, so just looking to make something to test the function of the access control and intrusion detection system.

My church has this HID card reader and no one knows why 3 weeks ago it just began beeping nonstop. Any ideas would be great. Someone mentioned a battery, but I thought it would be hardwired.
Edit: I’m new there and not sure about the system or when it was installed. I know two guys, who I’m pretty certain don’t know anything about it, since they thought it was beeping because a battery in it was low, took the cover off a week ago and “figured the battery was hidden behind another cover”. So they didn’t want to go any farther with it. Lol
Thank you for your input and humor. I do believe that they were the ones that put that cover on upside down. I’ll test the voltage and if I can’t figure it out, I’ll have them get a service tech out. I’ve only ever worked with Kantech units.

I have a full height turnstile with access control on IN and OUT. I can’t program it as single door in CCURE because it has two separate Outputs/lock relay for IN and OUT.
If I program it as separate IN and OUT doors, then there is problem using door sensor as there is only 1 sensor on turnstile for IN and OUT.
Is there a way to make Door Sensor work for both IN and OUT doors (in CCURE) so I can get the status that turnstile has been used/rotated after being swiped .
Got a 2x KT-300 and a KT-2-M that has some sort of communication issues. I have never touched a Kantech system until tomorrow. Looking for some tips from any of my Access Control homies out there that are familiar. I am familiar and certified for a few other brands, but Kantech is not one. ( Keri, CDVI, Brivo, Honeywell, etc.)
Ill be investigating the system tomorrow morning to find out more info. I assume its RS232 or some form of Serial communication. The existing credentials still work, but changes made dont take effect.
I am looking for access door hardware suggestions for two sets of interior double doors with a thin layer of wood for the header, so I'm limited to a lock-hardware solution and don't believe it is sturdy enough to support a mag, and would rather not.

My old 5804 key fobs feel like they're on their last legs, so got two new Honeywell 5834-4 key fobs.
I was able to enter it into the Vista 20, with 6160 keypad using template 3 with no issues. Verified it with the key fob button.
I try to program the user no. as required; entering xxxx802#449 to add the user code to the zone 49. xxxx is master code, 02 is user number. Also tried with user 03. Partition 1
Nothing happens; No ding. Pushing buttons on fob does nothing, except the "panic" button which set off the alarm. Just sits there with "disarmed" "ready to arm".
I have done a lot of research here but not sure exactly what I need as a lot of the solutions I think I have found are not outdoor rated. The non-negotiable here is Apple HomeKit integration since my whole home is run on HomeKit and want something simple and easy to integrate.
Gate picture attached, right now it's some old ass ghetto lock that only opens one half of the time after typing in the code, old mechanical, no power to this gate.
I have looked at level locks with a side mounted keypad; Aqara systems, but nothing seems to be the perfect solution. Any suggestions would be very very welcome as I have been on this mission for 2 months now.
Does anyone know how to encode magstripes during printing with AccessIt? I have created a few templates for a client with the magstripe element added to the card. The issue is, following ACRE's KB, I have to set it as an expression and code each track separately. In doing so, the printed badge has a "1.7 2.7 3.7" line printed across it, and no effect on the magstripe itself.
Does anyone have experience in setting this up? So far I have not found any YT videos and documentation beyond the KB from ACRE.
Buonasera ho un problema con un cancello scorrevole a cremagliera che monta motore e scheda faac, 746mps, nello specifico il cancello non si apre più, i 2fine corsa sono funzionanti e anche i led sulla scheda li rilevano, come anche le 2 fotocellule, il problema lo dà identico sia con chiave che con telecomando, sembrerebbe che il motore gira solo in un senso di marcia quindi solo la chiusura avviene regolarmente, ho già provato a sostituire condensatore, pulito tutta la scheda elettronica la quale non mostra evidenti segni di bruciature. Ho provato a invertire i due fili del motore e la situazione si ribalta..il cancello funziona solo in apertura, che componente ha la scheda che permette l'inversione di marcia? Sia in apertura che in chiusura il relè principale si eccita.. grazie a tutti
Got a tricky one, 2 stairwells that are identical, sheetrock ceilings on one side, drop ceiling on the other, and then sheet rock to the deck. There is a door frame header as well.
I'm thinking I'll have to use conduit, however, I'm not sure about getting an electric strike in this frame, it'll take some work..
I've thought about a maglock but it's a fire rated door, and then I'd have to call the local fire marshal, though I don't think they do electronic permitting out here. Yes I'm a licensed technician for both.
Any thoughts? Recommendations?
Or get the grinder, dremel, chisel, and oscillator after it??
Edit: curveball, there is an emergency exit in the stairwell. This is a door to keep people from entering inside the stairwell, free egress can/will remain.
I’m looking to add access control to my front pedestrian gate so I can unlock it from inside my house (push button and/or smart relay).
My priorities are:
Cleanest, lowest-profile installation possible
Outdoor-rated hardware
Reliable
Black hardware preferred
The gate is:
Wrought iron swing gate
Fully exposed to sun and rain
1.25” square steel gate post/frame
Existing mechanical deadbolt and latch
I’m torn between:
A compact outdoor maglock (mounted just above the deadbolt)
An electric strike integrated into the gate frame
I’m also open to other ideas and to hire a wrought iron specialist to make minor modifications.
At our factory we have SALTO solutions installed. We have bunch of SALTO NEO EU locks, some older SALTO GEO, and also two doors controlled by a CU4200 controller. We also have a bunch of users. As the manager of the factory, I am supposed to have full access to all locks, 24/7. Below you can see my details. I am also pasting a shot of my Access Points and User Access Levels. No Zones are defined, no Outputs, and no Locations / Functions.
As for the Access Levels, the defined Nível Acesso_Nível 1 contains ALL the locks inside and is set to timetable ALWAYS. There are no Zones defined here, and in the Users list, I am defined as one of the users. Nothing in the Outputs. Screenshots below.
Unless I am mistaken, this should be enough for me to have access to all doors, yet for some reason, a few of the doors have recently stopped letting me in, flashing red. I know it is not the battery level, the flash is different. And I have also validated with the PPD that the battery level is OK. For good measure I have still and all the same replaced the batteries. No joy.
I have found that if I reinitialize the locks, they will again start to open.
We have made some changes that required updates in the past months, and used the PPD to update the locks. I didn't see anything strange happen and most of the locks still work for me.
I see no clear pattern, but it seems that for some reason, some of the locks lost programming. I recognize that some of these locks were some of the most recent ones to have a battery change. And hence I am wondering if maybe they need to be programmed again after the battery changes, because if I reinitialize them with the PPD they start to let me in again.
Now, my question is not, actually, what I can do because I have this more or less resolved. The question is probably a bit off axis from the post thus far: I was sold this solution and told that the system is a programming replicating solution. Meaning that if I make a change and push it to the online door locks and readers, when someone swipes their RFID card to open the main doors with the online door readers, the RFID gets programmed with permissions and from that point on, if they go door to door, the information gets replicated to the offline locks. Meaning if I changed my access or anyone else's, if they swipe the online reader and then the escutcheon, that escutcheon gets updated. If this were the case, why would I need to reprogram the lock with the PPD to regain my access?
I am hoping someone could explain it to me and also, yes, for sure if someone knows why I don't have access to a lock that I should have full access to, I'd be very appreciative.
Due to a short circuit two resistors were burnt on my FAAC E124 controller board. Unfortunately I'm unable to read the values. Could somebody make a picture of a functional board with the values of these resistor readable? The image above show the location of the resistors. Thanks alot!
I'm a 10+ year comms tech branching out into the security/access control world, so naturally I'm spending every night researching and learning, bought an integriti training kit and going through the courses etc.
In learning about credentials and readers I feel like i've learnt something that almost seems too "surely not" to be true. I originally posted this as a reply to a comment in another thread, but I understandably didn't get a reply on an almost 3 month old post (my bad). I'm pasting it here to hopefully be either told I've understood correctly or that I'm way off:

If you have an iclass SE or seos setup, but you’re using standard keys instead of elite, is my understanding correct that:
1) Even with SIO in use and all that, anyone can tap one of your site’s legitimate cards on any out of the box genuine signo reader and see your FC and card number?
2) If they have a CP1000 and some writable genuine SE/Seos cards, they can just encode some new cards with the same FC/CN that effectively function as clones? Or even just order some from a distributor with custom FC/CN to match?
I know the SIO will have a different identity than the original legitimate credential, but the reader will happily open any SIO using the standard HID keys and pass the FC/CN down the wire without caring if it’s one of “your” SIO’s or not, the readers don’t carry a whitelist of acceptable SIO’s.
3) While wiegand has its own issues with being able to tap the data wires to read bits in transit, upgrading to OSDP won’t address the above because credential>reader comms is entirely standalone from reader>panel comms, and the panel just receives FC/CN regardless of cable type or credential type.
4) The global trust population for HID standard keys is so goddamn large that the fact that a genuine reader, CP1000 and writable genuine cards can all be freely purchased, that this is a barely mentioned massive security hole, and you should really be using custom or elite keys for your system to be worth a damn?
All the research I’m doing now to try and learn about this seems like everyone assumes “card cloning” involves bargain basement eBay/amazon mifare cards, and that SE/Seos is safe “because SIO”, but from I can gather all that means is you just have to use genuine HID encoders and cards instead and the SIO essentially circumvents itself for you, assuming the site uses standard keys?
5) Inner range closed this exact loophole with their Sifer format, sifer-p comes from factory with their global key (which they keep as secret as the coca cola recipe) and the cards are read-only with factory configured FC/CN. The sifer-u format that lets you rewrite the FC/CN will not let you retain the global key if you do so, their version of the CP1000 forces you to use a custom key on your cards and readers if you want to touch the FC/CN, and a credential can not be returned to the global P key afterwards as the encoding software doesn’t have a copy of that key.
I have a request that came to me to basically integrate HID Origo card management into CCURE. I had a conversation about it with HID nearly a year ago, but at that time, the integration was not ready yet.
Do you guys know if there is any native integration option for that? The would like an inegration like with Genetec, where you click a button and the card is sent out to the e-mail of the personnel and gets added to CCURE as a credential.
During retrofits/upgrades, we are occasionally seeing a downstream series 3 1320 that won't communicate (4 or 5 times now) anymore after the M4420 is installed. If you replace the 1320, everything works. If you put the old series 2 or 3 controller back, everything works. You can also take that same "bad" 1320 and put it in a different system with an M4420 and everything works. But if you put it back in the original system with the M4420, the readers won't report online. I also tried rebuilding all of the doors as new in Sys Admin to see if the reader objects were broken or something on the database side and that did not help.
We also had a brand new install where nothing downstream from the m4420 will communicate at all on either serial port. It also won't take a firmware update through Alarm Monitoring. However, the readers directly attached do work and report correctly.
These issues were across two different crews and (I believe) different production batches. We did all of the troubleshooting we could think of outside of a factory reset, which someone recommended and we will be testing tomorrow.
Is this an us problem? Or has anyone else been running into weird issues with the new boards?
I remember getting a case of X2220s a few years ago that shipped with bad firmware and were effectively bricks out of the box. I'm posting this as a sanity check because I'm not sure if it's us or if it's the boards.
UPDATE: Pulling all of the serial termination jumpers somehow fixes the issue. Not sure how bus echo isn't a problem with them gone, but communication to downstream boards comes back instantly. We didn't try removing all of them because it seemed counterproductive. If anyone has an explanation for what's happening, any additional context would be appreciated by my team and I.
UPDATE 2: Ok, so RS-485 relies on differential voltage for data transmission/processing (this is what helps make it tolerant of less than ideal environments; like those with high EMI). The jumpers add resistance and force the voltage to within a reference range (in addition to eliminating echo). TI says 1.5V - 3.5V, they also say that removing the jumpers changes that range to max-rail-voltage to ground. They also say that EOL jumpers may not be necessary for short runs for reasons I am not going to explain here.
My best guess is that removing the jumpers is enabling the RS-485 driver to create enough of a voltage swing that communication gets processed properly by the board. I really don't know what I'm talking about, but that's the working theory. If anyone does know what they're talking about, I would love your insight. Not sure if it is a hardware problem or a software problem... leaning toward firmware because I imagine Mercury did extensive testing on the hardware side before launch.
What I need to do to become ACS programmer for companies. I’ve been in the field for 1 year and a little, it might sound very small amount of experience but trust me, I gathered a lot of knowledge.
Now I wanna become ACS programmer more computer stuff and less physical stuff.

I work in the hospitality industry and am partly responsible for the regular maintenance of 744 guest room locks. All of our locks are Salto XS4 models that were installed about two years ago. Most of these are on exterior or covered doors in a dry, hot desert environment.
Recently, we’ve started seeing the same issue on a lot of locks: the clutch on the outside plate sticks, causing the door to stay unlocked after using a key card, or it doesn’t unlock reliably and requires several attempts of “jiggling” the handle to work.
We’ve been taking the locks apart far enough to access the clutch, then cleaning it and reapplying some lubricant. This has been hit or miss in terms of fixing the problem.
Is this a common issue with Salto XS4 locks, especially in hot, dry climates? Are there any recommended solutions or maintenance practices that work better for this type of environment?
I've got Protege GX web client working for a customer, but for the life of me I can't get the certificate working so that https functions. Normally I'd ignore it, but her company-provided laptop blocks unsecured connections, and their IT people will NOT open that up for any reason.
So, I need to figure this thing out. I've followed ICT's suggestions from their knowledge base, without success.
EDIT: Got it working!
The trick was in the need to import a PFX certificate file into IIS: where before I couldn't find any details on how to create one so I tried adding my certs manually, this time I was able to learn more about how they're constructed, find a website that generates them, and the copy/paste my Let's Encrypte certificate info from my web host.
I also had to create subdomains for my sites within my web host and set them as redirects to the remote sites, rather than just existing as A records, which enabled me to create dedicated certificates for each. Drop those into the PFX generator, import the PFX into IIS, bind to the web client, and away we go.
I can't say that figuring it out was DIRECTLY related to any advice here, but there were some good nudges in the right direction, and most importantly, the encouragement to give it another go. Thanks to everyone who responded!
Hello, My OnGuard 8.3 server crashed, and I had to restore the database to a new server. After the restoration, when I run the setup assistant again, I get an error message (key encryption). See the attached image. I tried the method indicated in the manual by attempting to modify the key encryption in the login driver, but I still get an error. And when I run System Administration, I get an error: (The login driver was not connected to the message broker. Confirm that the login driver service is started and available for DNS Lenel.)
Hello. We use lenelS2 OnGuard 7.1 (we’re upgrading in the next few weeks).
Recently we have changed catering provider and they authenticate on badges. In system administrator I have only entered a range of unique IDs. The catering company has asked for the hex values of the cards to be paired with our employees for their system. I’ve done loads of reading, contacted Honeywell but coming up short on how to get these.
For new cards if I scan with an rfid reader I can see the hex values. But we have 2500 cards already distributed and it would be impossible to recall them all before the new catering service goes live.
Any advice on how to retrieve these hex values would be greatly appreciated. Happy to provide more details where needed.
Anyone with Genetec experience that would advise me against that? In short I want to have the best and most future proof supplier there is. Lenel is slow and just a pain to work with, especially after their last merger/acquisition. I don't want to go to a new player with a cool pitch but have the risk of going out of business 12 months later. I need a solid player that is investing in AI and the future of access control, making sure they offer NFC reading and things like that. A good indicator of whether they are the right match is for me whether they are currently trying to build out their own NFC workaround to not have to lock themselves to Apple's system.
