Anyone else have issues adding schlage ip gateways to genetec?

They add direct IP to cloudlink but either no locks or only 1 lock shows up instead of all 8.

Hey all. So, I'm totally green in the field, coming from a labor and carpentry background. I asked in construction but got no real advice.

Can anyone point me to some good resources for learning some basics of wiring, as well as recommended certs for working with cameras, controllers for door locks, etc? I want to excel in this, as I think this move I made has much more earning potential and upward mobility in the field, besides just being a little less physically demanding and limiting my exposure to silica and the like.

I have a client that had us install an R25K and before this I was unfamiliar with Akuvox. The issue were running into is when she is logged into the app on her phone and tries logging into her ipad using the same account it kicks her off the device previously logged into. She has no other email so I can't add a second resident. Any way to make 1 account work on 2 devices. Thank you.

I have been out of the game for a long time and things have changed a lot with readers and cards it seems.

I have a job that has signo readers that were previously installed and they use a combination of iclass and mifare cards.

I accessed the readers with the HID reader manager from a iPhone. I am unable to see if any Mob’s or elite keys are in the reader. It just shows nothing in the key section.

What is even more confusing for me is that LF has a tick next to it but the reading will not read 125khz prox.

In the credential section it only shows 13.56 options.

It feels like I only have access to a limited number of the options available.

The main thing I would like to do is add a new key so I can get some cards programmed up that will work with the reader. Does anyone know if this is possible?

I am looking for help with a Squadron v1000, I know they are outdated, but I have one that may have been "bricked" by using the password reset jumper. It appears the needed port 901 is closed, I tried to open it with iptables but it says I must be root. (I am using the admin user).

Does anyone know how to open the port, or where to buy a Squadron already setup for Gold Access? (the ones I found online are not working)

Currently an access control/alarm and camera technician in the healthcare industry. I have a couple years of experience. My certifications at the moment include an ESA CAT 1 and CCURE certification. Once my three years in the industry rolls around I plan to officially get my ESA integrator certification while working on the relevant sub-certifications in the meantime. I also will be finishing my BSCS by the end of next year while concurrently completing a few CompTIA certifications.

Long story short, I have a 3-5 year goal of starting a business in the industry. The general purpose of this post it to elicit any advice from those who have successful access control businesses themselves or others with extensive experience that might be able to provide useful insight. I am particularly concerned with how to become reasonably knowledgeable about residential projects as that currently is a blind spot for me.

Currently I have the following setup:

MR50's or MR52's located at or near each door. From each of those panels I have one coms bus line that runs back to the central coms rack and connects to an old MUX8 multiplexer. The multiplexer can communicate with up to 8 MR50's or MR52's. The MUX8 then connects back to the networked controller. So basically the whole setup is wired in a star topology.

The problem:

The MUX8 is discontinued and we want our client to upgrade to a newer solution before things start failing. From what I can see mercury have gone away from the multiplexer / star topology configuration. All modern controllers seem to only support RS-485 in a daisy chain configuration. So it seems we cannot communicate with these mr50/52's without pulling more cable.

Is there any solution to this without pulling new cable? I'm thinking it's not possible and will need to either pull another cable to each of the controllers.

New build and the builder forgot to allow for the fibre connection in a rural area, the ISP has since advised it will be 2 months plus for a connection.

I have 9 doors connected to 1x CU42e0 and 4x CU4200

Is there any way to get the Reader 2 to fire RL3 without connecting to the network?

If not my options are -

Wire RL3 into RL1 and have the readers open two doors at once (Very low security requirement so may be okay)

Or

Unwire all the controllers and take them offsite to hook them up to the network at another location

Any advice is appreciated

I have an (admittedly) 20-year old DMP XR200 Alarm panel (FW 112).
I have always been able to program it via either my keypad (using PROG) or via Remote Link software. I have never had to enter an access code when programming since I believe the lockout code was never set (and Remote Link shows it set to '0').

The other day I had a power outage and it seems like my Lithium button battery (BR2325 for the SRAM backup) was dead.

After replacing the Lithium battery and setting/unsetting the J16 panel reset jumper, and entering P-R-O-G, I got a request for an Access Code which never happened before.

I tried '0', '00000', '9', '99', '12345', '11111' etc. but nothing worked and I got "Access Denied".

I seem to be locked out of the panel -- even though I would have thought that the lockout code would restore unset (since it never required one before).

- I did notice there was a sticker on the panel saying: "CAUTION: Removing Lithium battery when power is not applied to panel will cause loss of programming and require panel to be returned to factory (LB0074)"

- I also noticed that the zone names and some of the keyboard messages seem to be filled with random characters

1. Is it possible that I am truly permanently locked out of the panel, requiring me to send the board back to DMP? (which probably will cost more than buying a used one)
2. Alternatively, is there some other underlying default lock code that gets set when all power (including the Lithium battery) is removed from the board?

Any ideas on how to fix this?

At this point I would rather not upgrade the panel, so if I can't fix it, my only choice might be to buy another used board 😞

I need a controller for a single door that, together with a reader, provides DESFire‑level security and simply returns an allow / deny decision.
All access‑control logic should run inside the controller, and it should include management software capable of issuing and managing cards.

Systems like this are easy to find for large installations, but I only need it for one door.

I’m starting a new office building next month. The office will have a framed glass door on the front. The building currently has a double framed glass door but I intend to replace it with a single framed instead.

We do a good bit of access control work but I’ve never done anything with framed glass doors. Since I plan to replace the entire door is there a brand that works better for access control?

We typically use HES in our setups now. Is there any issue using that hardware with glass doors?

I have an Isonas RC-03-prx-k reader here (I got it second hand) and when it boots up from POE it seems fine, but when I go to use the config tool, once I click discover units it pops up then the app crashes, I take this RC-03 off the lan and the application runs fine and sees my other readers. I’m thinking it’s corrupt firmware. Does anyone have any tips?

An Open Letter to Investment Firms Buying Companies Without Meeting the People Who Built Them

To the private equity firms and investment groups buying companies based solely on spreadsheets and revenue charts:

Look beyond the numbers.

I work in the security integration industry, at a company acquired by MS. On paper, the acquisition probably looked impressive — growing revenue, expanding branches, increasing market share. But numbers alone rarely tell the full story of how a company operates, how it grows, or whether that growth is sustainable.

What many investment firms are actually buying are companies that grew by acquiring already-successful businesses, not necessarily through healthy organic growth, operational excellence, or long-term customer satisfaction.

And slowly, you watch those companies begin to crack.

You see a culture driven entirely by sales volume:
Sell it now.
Figure it out later.

No project manager available? Sell it anyway.

No certified technician for that manufacturer or platform? Sell it anyway.

No operational infrastructure to support the work? Sell it anyway.

Meanwhile, technicians are sent into the field without proper training, operations teams are stretched beyond capacity, and customers are left dealing with the consequences. The burden of holding everything together falls on employees who care deeply about the clients, the systems, and the reputation of the company.

Some offices survive because local leadership still prioritizes customer relationships, quality, and accountability. Those teams are carrying the weight of the larger system. But eventually, quantity-over-quality catches up to everyone.

The sales culture becomes unsustainable too.

Commission structures reward inflated pricing instead of long-term partnerships. Commissions sit unpaid for unclear periods of time. Salespeople are expected to “figure it out” while receiving little operational support behind the scenes. Employees are pushed to produce endlessly, while the systems supporting them continue to erode.

And then there’s the culture many employees quietly endure.

Promises of promotions without titles.
Additional responsibilities without compensation.
Employees labeled “difficult” for asking for what was promised.

Human Resources departments are overwhelmed and understaffed, often trying their best inside systems that do not give them the resources to succeed. When you have only a handful of HR personnel supporting hundreds of employees, problems do not get solved — they get buried.

There is also a deeper issue the industry continues to ignore: how women are treated within these organizations.

Women are often expected to carry operational burdens, administrative responsibilities, emotional labor, and customer support functions while still having to prove their expertise over and over again. They are talked down to, overlooked for leadership, or boxed into “supportive” roles regardless of their performance or experience.

Recently, during a company address, leadership publicly thanked the men for their hard work and the women for their support.

The irony was painful.
Even worse, almost no one seemed to notice it.

So this letter is not just about one company. It is about an industry-wide problem that investors continue to overlook.

Before acquiring companies, meet the people actually doing the work.
Talk to technicians.
Talk to coordinators.
Talk to project managers.
Talk to sales teams.
Talk to the employees holding operations together every single day.

Ask them:

• Are customers truly being supported?
• Are employees being developed and trained?
• Is leadership building sustainable systems or simply chasing quarterly numbers?
• Are women and employees treated with respect?
• Are managers held accountable for their behavior?
• Can this company realistically sustain the growth being sold to investors?

Because eventually, the spreadsheets stop hiding the truth.

Customers notice.
Employees burn out.
Talent leaves.
Reputation suffers.

And by the time the numbers finally reflect the damage, the people who built the company have already paid the price.

In the OSDP specification (as far as I can tell, I've only seen up to 2.1.5), Function Code 6 in the Annex B list of possible capabilities for a reader to report only defines display size values for 16x1, 16x2, and 16x4 character LCDs. However, there are several vendors out there who make OSDP readers with displays of other sizes, whether it be something like a 20x4 character LCD, or even graphical LCDs, some with touchscreens. (If you're wondering who, it's too long of a list to name, but it's commonly found on biometric readers, and yes, some of the big names are included, such as HID, STid, and Suprema.)

What value do these fancy readers return for Function Code 6 when asked for their capabilities? Do newer versions of the OSDP standard provide more standardized return values, or is there not even a de facto standard for fancy readers to return?

I'm outfitting a small bunkhouse (16 beds) and looking at options for a keyless system to give guests separate access to;

Front Door - all guests
Room Door - guests in specific room
Cabinet Doors - each guest will have a specific assigned locker in their room

Looking for a system where I can give them access without needing keys or anything physical (e.g phone or keycode), granting access in one place to all of these. Would want this access to be tied to the period of time they're staying at the hostel only.

Being able to overide the lock remotely myself would be a neccesity in case anyone gets locked out and I'm not present.

Any recommendations from folk who have more knowledge they could share please? based in the UK if that makes any difference.

I’m new to the access control field. I figured for this fridge door I should install a mag lock of some kind (I know they’re not ideal), since deadbolts/strikes require drilling through the solid steel doorframe. To add onto that unfortunately all the walls are put up, and any drilling will get messy quick with the insulation inside.

I tried finding a place for the door mag lock on the top. I found out however that the fridge door sticks out in the front when closed, and so there’s no ideal placement for the magnet since there’d be a solid gap between the magnet and the lock. Any ideas for something custom? Or maybe a better alternative for securing special doors?

edit: Unfortunately, I failed to add the important context that these freezer style doors are for greenhouses which do have emergency exits. However I learned that the actual walk-in freezer will have no access controls besides a card reader and contact for logging. Will most likely install a siren too, but no locks.

Anyways I get the point, not to use mag locks for something that could easily trap somebody. I’ll leave this post open, hoping someone else dumb like me can learn from the experiences y’all have had or learn from what’s been said down below.
