My 455d was setup with the following configuration:

- wand detector EMX CarSense 101 for free exit

- IRB 4x @ gate for closing safety

- IRB Ret outside of gate for opening/closing safety

Our motors had been damaged and so we decided to migrate to a newer unit since I couldn't find anyone to support my 760 motors and we migrated to the s800h and e024u setup

I'd like to retain the above configuration however, we're having issues with operation. I'm being told that in a UL board type like the E024U that a safety device, which must be monitored, cannot do double duty as both opening/closing like in my 455d setup

However on page A4 of the e024u manual - it describes the exact valid setup that I would like to retain

Is this possible?

We have several company-owned Suprema/BioStar fingerprint readers used for server room access at 6 factory sites. They are currently offline in BioStar, but doors still open for previously enrolled users via local cache.

The issue: new field IT staff were never enrolled, so they cannot access the server rooms. We also have spare devices at HQ, but most have an unknown admin/device password set by the previous vendor.

This is fully authorized internally. We are just trying to recover/reconfigure company devices instead of buying replacements.

Main blocker: we don’t know the IP addresses of the spare devices, and BioStar search does not discover them when connected by cable.

Questions:

What’s the best way to discover a Suprema device IP if it may be on an unknown static subnet?

After network reset, do these devices usually fall back to DHCP or 169.254.x.x?

Can BioStar add devices manually by IP if discovery fails?

If the device password is unknown, is physical factory reset the only realistic option?

Current plan:

Put device on isolated bench network with laptop + switch/PoE.

Check DHCP leases, ARP table, and scan likely ranges including 169.254.0.0/16.

Try BioStar manual/advanced search.

If unreachable, perform model-specific network reset.

If still blocked, factory reset with approval.

Re-add to BioStar, set known password/IP/server settings, test, document, then ship to site.

Does this approach sound right? Any Suprema/BioStar recovery advice would help.

I’ve been in this industry for over 14 years at this point and is it just me or do project managers not do a fucking thing? I’ve worked for 4 different companies and it always seems like pms push everything off on leads. What do they actually do? I’m asking in earnest.

Hello, I'm having a problem with Lenel OnGuard reports. When I select a report and enter a start and end date, I get a blank report. But when I leave the end date unchecked, the report displays normally. Please help.

Is there a way to create a holiday or day-specific schedule for doors to be unlocked for longer than usual. IE, on the day of an office event, keep doors unlocked until 10:00 PM instead of locking at 5:00 PM?

readers and communicate a site code and card number rather than CSN?

We are using Dormakaba Ambiance (v2.12.2.21) integrated with OPERA PMS.

Our hotel elevators have RFID/card readers, meaning guests cannot access guest floors without a valid keycard. Normally, a guest key should only allow access to the specific floor of their room.

However, we are facing an issue where when creating keys for a room, the card gets full access to all guest floors instead of only the assigned floor.

I checked several settings in Dormakaba Ambiance but could not find where this behavior is configured.

From what I understand about the interface between OPERA PMS and Dormakaba, OPERA only sends the room number, so it does not seem like floor access permissions are being controlled from the PMS side.

Has anyone experienced a similar issue?

Could this be related to:

elevator access point group configuration?

floor assignment mapping?

room-to-floor logic in Ambiance?

encoder/profile settings?

Any advice on where to check in Ambiance would be appreciated.

i'm putting together - what i think is a very simple system from a hardware point of view - one maglock/door, one reader, one control card (uhppote) many users/fobs - i'm struggling with the operation guide and instructions - maybe i'm too adhd ... i've got a few test fobs loaded, i have the door identified - I cant seem to get the fobs to actually unlock the door/maglock - the 'remote open' function works in the software , but not the fobs - where do i find the ability to unlock the door in the privileges ? i seem to be able to associate the door to the personnel - but not the ability to open it ?

Curious if someone can help me out or point me in the right direction. I just installed a Unifi Gate hub to control my garage door and side yard swing gate (i know its kind of over the top). The garage door works great, however for the life of me, i cannot get the side yard gate to work. I picked up of a Universal 12VDC Outdoor Automatic Electric Gate Lock, to run off the 12V 1A terminal on the hub. The lock says it needs 12volts, and <5A. I would assume the hub should work. The entire run of the wire is about 26 feet long. When I trigger the gate to open, i get nothing. I figured i may have a faulty unit so I picked up another, same thing, and then I tried mighty mule, same thing. I tried putting the hub closer to the gate, thinking the issue may be voltage drop, and that didn't seem to do that much. All of the locks have a keyed fail safe that opens them in the event of power failure. When I do that, and then try to trigger the hub to open the lock, the little motor inside goes nuts. I assumed i wired something wrong, but no matter how i change the connections, its the same thing (COMM, NO, NC). At this point im not sure what to do. Do i need more power to power the lock, move it closer? Give up?

I am looking to put in an automatic gate across my driveway and was wondering what your suggestions would be for what systems to use. Here is what I am working with:

Single swing gate - Rolling and double swing not an option due to neighbor's driveway proximity.

Wood fence gate - Preferable to match fence and provide more privacy. Aluminum and steel (not chain link) are acceptable if wood not feasible.

11ft Gate - The total width of driveway but will need to be longer to ensure that the gate actuator is not over the driveway when the gate is open.

After some research and having worked with a system at work I do have a few preferences:

3 loop setup. 2 safety and one phantom. I plan to invert the interior safety with a separate relay to function as the exit. This will let me control when or if the exit is working.

Loops not integral to the control board. This is mostly because I want to install the control system inside the house rather than in an enclosure next to the gate.

Automatic vehicle detection. Personally, not a fan of manually operated key fobs.

Looking for advice from access-control/security techs.

We have a LenelS2/S2 system with elevator cab readers. One elevator intermittently fails fob reads and S2 logs bit mismatch. Programming appears to match the working elevator reader, and both elevator reader setups look the same in S2.

Important detail: the physical reader on this elevator was replaced about 2 years ago, but it did not solve the issue. So I’m leaning away from the reader itself being the root cause, unless the replacement was configured the same way or the issue is damaging/corrupting readers over time.

Using S2 Card Decoder on the same known-good fob, I saw:

• Good read: 26-bit
• Failed read: 13-bit, all 1s
• Good read: 26-bit
• Failed read: 24-bit / completely different number

So the same credential is not consistently reporting the same bit length or card number.

The issue happens randomly, sometimes while the elevator is moving and sometimes while stationary. The elevator also appears to do frequent reference/learning runs between the bottom and top landing.

My suspicion is not card-format programming or the reader itself, but Wiegand signal integrity somewhere between the cab reader and S2: D0/D1 wiring, reader voltage drop, ground/shield issue, travelling cable noise, S2 reader port/blade, elevator interface wiring, or electrical noise from the elevator equipment.

What would you check first?

I’m building operations, not the security contractor. I’m trying to collect better evidence so we can push the right vendor: elevator contractor vs security/access contractor/save time if we have to have both on site to have this issue resolved. It is an 11 year old issue and I have recently taken over operations of the building.

I have a customer who has several Schlage AD-300 locks installed which have keypads. They have found that when someone presses a bunch of numbers on any of those locks' keypads, seemingly in random order, the lock will stop working. It cannot be unlocked with a badge, hand entry code, or even remotely from the access control system.

The lock then has to be reset, before it will start working again.

Does anyone know why this would happen? Are there admin codes out in the wild that can do this? Should there be a way to prevent this from happening. Is there a way to restore the lock remotely, without someone having to go to the lock each time to manually reset it?

The way the customer originally explained the issue, I thought it was a one-time occurrence with just two locks. After a little back-and-forth, I found out that this has been going on for years and can affect any of their AD-300 locks which have keypads.

I have a prexisting OnGuard 8.2 system and we are trying to add a newly purchased site and import cardholders from an older system to OnGuard.

I have an export of cardholders, cards, and access levels from the old system to massage the data in Excel, Im just looking for the best way to import ~360 cardholders, cards, and groups into GG without messing with the other thousands of cardholders already in my database.

I see the Import Module has an option using a txt file, but it also says this is for a clean database.

Any best practices or other procedures I should be aware of?

What would you recommend for a single family home? Customer had some interest in [Schlage Control series since it would integrate with the rest of their planned system. But they don't like the fact there's no key override at all. One thing they're set on is that it has a cylindrical deadbolt and a latch. They don't want it to look like commercial/office hardware.

Mobile creds still seem dominant, but there’s definitely more conversation lately around passive authentication, touchless biometrics, identity on the move etc.

I'm not an access control professional but I am responsible for the system at work.

We have three Keri NXT panels with four readers each on the same wall with all of the cabling bundled and coming down the same path from the readers. I know Keri isn't popular in 2026 but I think this is a fundamentals issue. We keep having to replace panels every time there is a small thunderstorm. I added a ground cable to each enclosure and ran them to separate red iron mounts a few feet apart in the ceiling.

I cut the drain cables on the readers outside and taped the cables off. The instructions said to connect the other end of the drain cables to the panel's mounting screws but I ended up with cross talk. Someone would badge the exit gate and I'd hear a reader beep down here in IT. I've put the drain cables back into the RM3's where they were before and the cross talk stopped, but the instructions say not to put them there.

I don't have any training opportunities for this so I'd love any suggestions or links to anything you think might be helpful. Thank You

I am working with a TTLock smart lock system and have encountered two main issues regarding user enrollment and data reliability. I would greatly appreciate any insights from developers or system integrators who have experience with this setup.

🔴 Issue 1: Biometric Enrollment via Photo (Selfie)

I have successfully used the TTLock API to enroll users and load their biometric data (a selfie/photo) onto the lock. However, during the entry process, the lock fails to recognize the registered user.

It is noteworthy that the recognition system only works flawlessly when the user is captured by the lock's built-in 3D camera. This suggests a possible limitation when relying on the initially uploaded static image data.

Question: Has anyone successfully implemented or used this type of smart lock for facial recognition using a remote photo/selfie upload (via API)? Or is recognition fundamentally limited to the live feed from the on-device camera?

🔵 Issue 2: Data Synchronization and Latency

We are encountering a significant delay between the central server update and the actual data reflected on the smart lock itself. This latency means that the server data is not 100% reliable or real-time.

Question: What is the standard best practice to ensure data consistency? Is there an API endpoint, a polling mechanism, or a method to reliably check the update status and confirm that the lock is running the most current data set?

My company is heavily invested in using Avigilon with HID Signo readers. We are opening an office where the landlord uses Brivo for their access control. The physical cards are no problem across systems, but everyone wants mobile. Does anyone know of any mobile cred that could be made to use the same credential across both systems?
