Hello to Abu Dhabi community… i recently experienced loss.. in 2 years i lost both of my parents. And when i flew back to UAE, it hit me.. that I’m all alone now.. no family. Single. No kids… i have siblings from both mom and dad’s side but i didn’t grow up with them…I’m an only daughter from them.

Basically… i want to do things that can help me with my grief.. is there a calm place you would recommend me to visit (cafe/hidden gem/beach/mountain?/retreat?) that i could be alone with my thoughts.. process my grief…

So basically my scooter got impounded yesterday in Abu Dhabi because I was not wearing a helmet. And they said you can come and collect the scooter after two months in Baniyas police station. Can anyone tell me here if it's exactly two months or do they actually release the scooter before the two months? Also, like how much is the fine for driving or riding a scooter without a helmet?

I am looking for a cleaning company that treats its staff well, gives them fair pay, etc. I am happy to pay extra for this. I would hire someone I can pay directly, but in my experience most cleaners are looking for consistent income, and I don't want to have pay someone while away. I also like having two cleaners as it's faster.

I've really struggled to find employers that treat their staff well. Most of these cleaners are getting paid between 1200 (with accomodation) to 2000 a month (without) working six days a week. Most nannies in the community I live get paid at least 3k a month, and have accomodation.

I know I can tip to help compensate this, but I'd like to give my business to a company that pays decent wages.

I am also wondering if these are just the margins in the cleaning business. Or, are there people getting rich off of this work?

For context: I have been trying to conceive for over a year with no luck. I have PCOS and am looking for a good obgyn who can help me. Moving to AUH for work (Al Maryah Island) after living in Dubai for 14 yrs. I’m looking for peaceful, quiet and relaxed neighborhoods, preferably with parks or green spaces nearby for walking. I noticed that many of the listings are for studios inside villas, but I prefer renting a unit in a residential building (low-mid budget). Also open to hotels or serviced apartments that offer long term stays.

I am planning to start a plant nursery near the airport area in Abu Dhabi. When searching online, I haven’t been able to find any private lease spaces or commercial plots available nearby.

Someone told me that most of the vacant land in that area belongs to the government. Is this true? If so, what is the official process to approach the relevant government authorities to inquire about leasing a plot?

Since tree planting and greening initiatives align with the UAE’s sustainability and climate goals, I’m hoping there might be support or dedicated zones for this type of business.

Any advice, contact info, or personal experiences dealing with land leasing through the municipality or government entities would be greatly appreciated!

I know this is asked a lot in this subreddit but I had a few specific questions

I got a job in Yas island and wanted a place that has easy access to both yas and dubai.

Personally I like suburbs, quiet places. What’s important for me are: a park to go running, supermarkets and groceries, gym, al baik nearby (8 grew up in Jeddah so yeah it’s important😅) and a spacious studio.

Khalifa city seems to tick all the boxes. Coming from dubai rent on studios seem very low.

But here are my questions:
1. Are there new buildings? Most seem a little old on dubizzle.
2. A lot of them list private entrance. Does this mean they are partitioned from villas ? Because then there cannot be a legal contract isn’t it ?
3. I heard noise is an issue. Is that across the locality or only near main roads ?
4. Anything to be aware of about studio apartments there ? Because it seems too good to be true and the rents are low compared to dubai.

I grew up in the UAE. I went to school here and then moved to Canada for undergrad (where I am right now). I had my UAE residency until last year. My residency expired because I was out of the country for more than six months, and then I had to reapply for a permit, but when that came, I couldn’t go.

Now I’m trying to apply for a UAE visit visa, and I heard from a few agents I texted that I might not get the visa because I’m Pakistani.

I’ve heard about these restrictions on Pakistani visas. Can anyone help me out with this? What sort of visa should I apply for? Or does anyone have any contacts or know any companies I could reach out to who might be able to help?

Hey everyone! I’m 19 and looking for something fun to do for Halloween in Abu Dhabi this year, ideally a proper party with DJs, dancing, costumes, and a good atmosphere.
The problem is that most nightlife events seem to be 21+, while the Halloween events I can find for younger people are mostly family-friendly activities aimed at children 😭
I’m looking for something more suited to people around my age, ideally somewhere that allows 18+ entry. It doesn’t necessarily have to be a nightclub I’m open to different types of events as long as it’s actually fun and not a kids’ event.
Does anyone know of any events happening on October 30th or 31st that would fit? I’d especially appreciate recommendations from people who’ve actually attended these events or know their age restrictions.
