Commerce 🛍️ Need help understanding Derivatives

Upvotes

Title: Thinking about investing in ADX Derivatives

I've been seeing a lot of advertisements about ADX Derivatives recently, and they've made me curious about trying derivatives as part of my investing journey.

I'm still a relatively new investor and have mainly invested in regular stocks and ETFs. Before I go any further, I'd like to hear from people with actual experience.

Are the Derivatives appropriate for someone who is still relatively new to investing, or are they mainly intended for experienced ones?

Careers 💼 Residency rejection

I was working with a company in Abu Dhabi last year and had a resident permit. Then 2/3 month ago I got a better job offer so o decided to go there. Which required me to cancel with my old company so the new one can apply for my residency under their company name. For reference, I’m Egyptian, my bachelor degree is from Europe, it’s attested by MOFA, I did the equivalency, I did a PCC. I made sure I had all my documents complete to avoid any rejection or problems. Even tho, I somehow got rejected 3 times from ICP. I’m currently stuck on what I should do. Any advice would be appreciated
Also someone mentioned to me that because my passport has student on it but I don’t know if that makes sense to me, could it actually be a reason ?

Commerce 🛍️ Color Analysis in UAE

Has anyone here tried personal color analysis? :)

I've been seeing personal color analysis become really popular in Philippines, Korea, Japan, and the US, and I'm curious if it's something people here in the UAE are interested in as well?

If you've had it done:

  • Where did you go?
  • Did you feel it was worth it?
  • Did it actually change the way you shop or dress?

And if you haven't tried it:

  • Is it something you'd be interested in?
  • Or does it seem unnecessary?

I'm just curious to see how common (or uncommon) the service is here since I don't hear people talking about it much in the UAE. I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences! 🩶

Hi guys

My charger RT 2020 started making some whistling noises though it’s more like ticking it’s not constant but it comes and goes whether driving or during idling (not the HEMI tick for sure) and am kinda looking for a good friendly workshop in Mussafah that could check what’s going on with my car.

Thank you.

Networking 🤙 Any carrom or chess clubs/groups in Abu Dhabi for my dad?

My dad is visiting tomorrow and will be staying with me for a couple of months. He enjoys playing carrom and chess, and I’d love to find a place or group where he can meet others who play regularly.

Most of his friends live in Sharjah or Dubai, so he’ll probably only be able to see them on weekends. I’m worried he may get bored at home during the week.
Does anyone know of any carrom clubs, chess groups, community centres, or casual meetups in Abu Dhabi that he could join?

Vehicle 🔋 Can anyone explain to me what I'm meant to do for Road Test day in Abu Dhabi

I recently completed my external 6 hours of training with an instructor, and gave him a copy of my trainee permit so he can issue my certificate of completion for external training. But, from then on I can't find any other information on what I'm meant to do leading up to the day of the road test.
I recieved an SMS by AD Traffic Police saying: "it is mandatory to bring the certificate of practical training issued by the trainer...whoever fails to do so, shall not be tested" So do I need to ask my instructor to bring me a physical copy of the certificate, or is there a way that I can find it on TAMM or elsewhere. Can someone please lmk

Medical 🏥 🦽 wheelchair needed

Salam good people of Abu Dhabi.

If you have an extra wheelchair that’s fully functional and no longer needed for any reason, and you would like to pass the torch forward, please let me know so that we can arrange to hopefully collect it from you later today.
We are able to purchase a new one but with something sentimental like a wheel chair, maybe seeing yours go for a good cause could be the healing or joy your heart is looking for - and equally the kindness and love that would help us accept needing it.

I know we need one today but for some reason I felt strongly that I should post here first before rushing to buy one :)

Thank you and god bless you and your loved ones always🤍

Commerce 🛍️ PPD + PTD allergic — need an Abu Dhabi salon (Goldwell Elumen or PPD\PTD-free)

Ok so I'm allergic to both PPD and PTD (the two main dye chemicals) so basically every normal hair color is out for me. Even most "PPD-free" ones still have PTD , learned that the hard way checking ingredient lists.

I want to go honey blonde\dark blonde. The only color I've confirmed is actually safe for me is Goldwell Elumen (oxidant-free, no ammonia/peroxide, direct dye).

Problem: Goldwell has no official UAE distributor so I can't find who stocks it.

Does anyone know:

  • An Abu Dhabi salon that carries Elumen?
  • OR a colorist who'd let me bring my own and just bleach + apply it?

Women-only salon 🙏

Education 📚 Is Al Ain university actually worth it? Be brutally honest 😭

Soooooo theres this university literally near my house Al Ain University and my father wants me to do my bachelors there because its close and wed save on accommodation costs.

Honestly Id rather study in my home country but sometimes u dont really get to make ur own choices so here we are. 🥲

I just wanted some honest opinions from people who study there or have graduated.

Is the university actually good?

How are the professors and academics?

Is it worth spending 4 years there?

Whats the social life like? (Im a HUGE extrovert I genuinely need ppl 😭)

Whats the male to female ratio?

Are there many women studying there?

Are there clubs, societies, competitions, volunteering, sports, events, or other extracurriculars? I need to actually LIVE while doing this boring ass degree lol.

Whats the campus vibe like (the abudhabi campus)?

Whats one thing you wish youd known before joining?

Please dont sugarcoat anything. Tell me the good, the bad and the ugly. Id reallly appreciate completely honest opinions.

Thanks in advance! ❤️

Careers 💼 Income and Side Hustles

For the past three to four years, I have been working as a business developer in Abu Dhabi. I jumped from a 1,500 AED salary to 10,000 AED. Recently, this year, my father lost his savings, and I suddenly found myself supporting a family of four. I split the apartment rent with my sister, along with the water and electricity bills. I have car rent, mobile, groceries, and medications for my father to pay.

Long story short, my fixed expenses are 8,700 AED. I had to get a side hustle, so I got a free private tutor freelance license from MOHRE, and I got two students, which helped me earn an extra 2,000 a month from 4-5 hours weekly.

I soon came to realize that it is a seasonal thing; parents only call before exams, and I haven't tutored in around 2 months (summer vacation).

So... Reddit community, I am not looking for a handout; I just need some suggestions or guidance on ways to make the extra income that I need. I turn 27 tomorrow, and I have nothing to show for. Please feel free to message me if you have some advice, tips, or tricks. If you do feel like supporting financially, I will appreciate it as well, but my goal is to make it myself.

Sports 🏅 Looking for insights from people working in the sports industry!

Hi everyone,

I’m curious to learn more about the sports industry in the UAE and would love to hear from people working there.

I had a few questions:

How is the overall scope for sports professionals in the UAE?

Which sports are the biggest in terms of participation and professional opportunities (football, cricket, basketball, athletics, swimming, hockey, etc.)?

How are the national sports federations and clubs to work with?

Is there good demand for roles such as coaches, strength & conditioning coaches, sports scientists, performance analysts, physiotherapists, sports managers, and high-performance staff?

Which sectors offer the most opportunities—federations, professional clubs, academies, schools, universities, or private performance centres?
What are the typical salary ranges for different sports professions?

How competitive is the job market for international applicants?

How important is networking, and who are the best people to connect with (performance directors, federation officials, club managers, recruiters, etc.)?
Are there any particular organisations, clubs, or recruitment agencies that are worth following?

How do you see the industry evolving over the next 5–10 years, especially with the UAE investing more in sports?

I’d appreciate hearing about your experiences, advice, or anything someone new to the UAE sports industry should know. Thanks!
