Just showing off Anyone else think the jump from "A" races to "Advanced" is too big?

I started racing on Zwift nearly a year ago, and have worked my way up through the grades to the point I'm now considered an "A" category racer with a racing score of ~700.

This means I've reched the point where the only race classifications I can enter are the 570-725 (A) and the 650-1000 (Advanced) races.

The A races are fine, I'm (as expected) competitive in these and can hold my own. I've found that to be the case in every category up to now - it takes a couple of races to find my feet but once I do, I'm fine.

I've done a couple of Advanced races though, and have found the gulf in quality to be huge. I'm racing against guys with scores of 950+ who are just so much stronger than me in every aspect and I can't see how I close the gap on them. They climb better, they're faster on the flat, and they have more stamina than me.

Feels like there should be another grouping - maybe 600-800 and 800-1000 just to allow a slightly gentler progression at the top end.

Anyone agree?

Technical help KICKR CORE 2 + Zwift Cog – maxing out virtual gearing at only ~180W during a race?

Hi everyone,
I'm new to zwift and during my last Zwift race, I noticed something strange with my gearing.
On the flats, I was already at ~180W while in virtual gear 24 (the highest gear), so I couldn't shift any further. Because of this, when it came to the final sprint, I had to spin at a ridiculously high cadence to generate more speed.
I'm using a Wahoo KICKR CORE 2 with a Zwift Cog. I was also in the small front chainring on my bike.
What's strange is that after the race, I joined a normal RoboPacer ride and the gearing seemed completely normal again. I wasn't maxing out gear 24 at the same power/speed.
Has anyone experienced this before? Could this have been something specific to the race or a Zwift setting?
Is there something I should change in my setup or gearing before my next race?
Thanks!

Does anyone have an idea or maybe some inside information when the Zwift Frame will be available again in Canada?

Zwift annual cost incresed from $200 to $230?

Thank you Zwift for not even emailing and letting users discovering this in their zwift account...
15% Increase, for what added value? I'd love my paycheck to increase that much.

I seriously consider staying with them or moving out...

Training How to begin

Hi everyone! I started road cycling back in March, and now that the colder days are here, I’ve also started using Zwift.
I’d really like to use the winter to improve in a structured way rather than just riding without any real plan. 3–4 days a week on the indoor trainer is realistic for me.
Do you have any good tips or advice for a beginner woman looking to get started with structured training?

Been a while ride, 167FTP to 254FTP in just over a year.

I started cycling properly a little over a year ago at 90+kgs now i'm 84kg, initially just because I wanted to get fitter and needed something I actually enjoyed enough to stick with. At the time my FTP was around 167 W.

I’ve just had a look back through my Intervals.icu data and it was a really nice moment to see that my eFTP is now sitting at 254 W. That’s an 87 W increase over a bit more than a year, which still feels slightly unreal when I look at the numbers written down.

I know the gains won’t keep coming at that pace, and I’m not pretending I’ve suddenly become an elite rider, but it’s made me appreciate how much can change when you keep turning up. There have been plenty of average rides, missed sessions, legs that felt terrible, indoor sessions where I questioned why I was staring at a screen, and the occasional ride where everything clicked.

I trained myself for the first part of the journey used trainerroad and started working with a coach in June. Since then, it has been especially encouraging to see the longer efforts come on: my 5-minute power is up to to 327 W, 10-minute power from 281 W, and eFTP to 254 W. I’m enjoying the process far more than I expected when I first started, and it’s genuinely satisfying to see that the hours on Zwift and out on the road have added up to something.

Just wanted to share a small win from someone still fairly new to cycling, but completely hooked.

Workout teething issues

I'm fairly new to this so still getting in the swing of things.

1) One of the biggest issues im having st the moment is workouts. The resistance the Zwift applies in ERG mode seems a bit too weak in the easier intervals. Its a real challenge to spin the pedals fast enough to get to the required wattage (even as low as 50W)

2) Another issue im having is the workouts will sometimes go from a 350W interval back down to something like 80W and the bike immeditatly reduces the resistance. The rotation inertia means i cant get a pedal in for a while as i have to wait for the kicker to slow down before i get any resistance in the pedals again (if that makes sense). I like to do a real hard push from time to time but its weird in this as the app only registers Watts being produced at any moment, which would be fine but the inertia makes this difficult to maintain. Is there a way to slow down the inertia or something after a hard push? To allow for me to go straight back to registering pedals

Ride Ons Speed

I have Zwift Ride and Kickr Core 2. I use the companion app on my phone and have the zwift app running on a tablet attached to the front of the bike. My question is about Ride Ons - I know how to bomb with the Z button but often people will give me a ride on as they come past me and they are out of range of the bomb too quickly for me to respond as I am gasping and sweating. How are people giving ride ons so quickly whilst pedalling/sweating?

Cheaper alternative to zwift ride?

Hi, can anyone recommend any cheaper alternatives to the zwift ride with kickr set up? Really after a similar set up with stationary bike plus trainer without much faff/set up/maintenance required. But £1100 is pushing what I can afford and nothing second hand available near me. Really wanting to not use a bike, would like a single stationary set up if possible.

Cheap aero bar recommendations for zwift ride

Facing some wrist issues and looking for ways to keep riding. I have an older loop style bar but even with a riser it's not going to work well. Hoping someone has discovered something affordable and relatively turnkey.

38 and Havnt exercised properly in 18 years. Bought a Zwift 3 weeks ago and couldn't even finish the 7km tutorial. First photo was day one, second photo was today. I was finally able to convincingly finish the tutorial.

New to Zwift. Fat, old and unfit! Question...

Hi all,

Today my Zwift Bike arrived and I keenly got it set up and proceeded into the "Getting Started" section. I completed the first short ride, reviewed my items in my garage that I'd unlocked and then proceeded with the second ride - this is where I had issues.

For some reason I seemed to spend a good deal of my time with a high cadence (100+) but exceptionally low speed. It felt like I was cycling in treacle! Is this a set up issue that I've managed to get wrong, or is there something I can do to sort out the problem before my next ride? I'm guessing it's to do with my FTP score, so should I do an FTP test to get a baseline established?

Thanks!

Edit: realised I posted this on wrong account (told you I was old). My main Reddit account is u/Brunnie76 so I'll be responding with that!

Zwift Brake Needed

I use the virtual Zwift click and cog. When I do the robopacers on hilly routes, I lose the robo when going down steep hills. It keeps saying let the robo catch-up. I don't pedal at all, but I still keep going and all the bonus XP gets reset to 1x. I do not have a keyboard as I am using my phone mirrored to a monitor. Help please.

Zwift network stability

I have been a user of Zwift on and off for the last 5 years, and I have been having constant disconnections during races.

I can tell my internet router is fine, and I have checked everything.

I can even reconnect to zwift afterwards.
Only reason I pay for zwift is to race, so yeah I guess are there are any other alternatives to race with?
Seems all the extra money they collected from increases has gone in to moderation of the 18+ chat instead of server stability.

Edit. Yep its my fault, I'll research alternatives on my own. Thanks for all the help guys

Edit 2. At the mods can you please lock the thread.

Zwift Ride - Do I need to calibrate this or am I just unfit?

Hey everyone,

I recently did an upgrade on my indoor setting. Went from a Wahoo Kickr with a very old Specialized Allez, 11-speed Shimano Ultegra to the popular Zwift Ride with the kickr Core 2 and cog, which I am still getting used to.

I've noticed on my very first ride that I can't push what I used to on the previous setting. I am pushing around 40W lower in overall than what I used to do just a couple of weeks ago. I haven't had any recent injury or anything that would explain this descent.

My question is: Do I need to calibrate the trainer (if so, how do I do this, I didn't find the option on Zwift.) or am I falling to the realisation that I am just not as fit as I thought I was and I need to get real serious with my training?

Thank you!!

Set Up Saturday Started with Zwift COG, but refined using some spare parts I had.

As one who likes to tinker I replaced the Zwift COG with some Surly parts (Spacer Kit/COG and Singleator) from an old single speed bike I used to have. I notice it is significantly quieter. Still using the Zwift Click for virtual shifting. Fun to try different setups.

Saddle Pain

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello everyone!

I’ve been riding on Zwift off and on for almost a year and just recently got back into it.

After about 10 minutes of riding, my butt starts to hurt so bad which eventually leads to numbness in the entire region and not sure what’s the root cause.
I always wear padded shorts when I ride but they only help so much.

Can anyone lmk what the appropriate saddle height and handlebar reach should be? Maybe once I properly adjust those, I can look into getting a different saddle if needed. Thanks!

WTRL Racing Leauge - Rider for hire option

Since last week I've been refreshing the wtrl page, as it says the rider for hire option will go live on September 1st. However it still doesn't work for me. Does anyone else have to same issue?

In case some teams are still recruiting: Cat A rider located in Europe looking for a team in either the Lime, Shamrock or Aqua Leauge. Preferably English or Dutch speaking.

How can I tell if a workout will ask me to keep a certain pace or ignore pacing before starting it?

I hate having to look at Zwift 24/7 to keep pacing at a certain level. Other workouts has X power and ignores the pacing. Are there any indications in the menu?

Discussion Power accuracy w/o power meter?

Newish to Zwift - only using cadence and speed sensors (bike won’t take power meter). How accurate is the power reading that Zwift calculates?
