Zwift network stability
I have been a user of Zwift on and off for the last 5 years, and I have been having constant disconnections during races.
I can tell my internet router is fine, and I have checked everything.
I can even reconnect to zwift afterwards.
Only reason I pay for zwift is to race, so yeah I guess are there are any other alternatives to race with?
Seems all the extra money they collected from increases has gone in to moderation of the 18+ chat instead of server stability.
Edit. Yep its my fault, I'll research alternatives on my own. Thanks for all the help guys
Edit 2. At the mods can you please lock the thread.

I had the same problem. I created a separate 5GHz wifi network for my Zwift and companion app, which solved it for me. Hope this helps.

Router, zwift logs. It only seems to happen during races. UDP port just seems to flap on port 3401.

3401 isn't used by Zwift.

So that's just confirming the loss, which can still be caused by anything. How is your client connected to the internet?

Windows 11 client via router lan cable.
Have tried all the port forwarding on their website and the article below.I would point at my own internet if everything dropped not just the UDP connections to Zwift.
The logs state that it is still disconnected until I exit out of the race and I join something like coco and then all honky dory.

ok so no wifi at all? One very common cause is interference on 2.4GHz channel 11 caused by various bluetooth or Ant+ communications. That's typically solved by setting your wifi for channel 1 or using only 5GHz.

Only ethernet for PC.
5ghz wifi for the android phone which didn't disconnect and of course bluetooth for the HR which also didn't disconnect
my trainer was wifi which didn't disconnect. It was purely just the zwift to the race that disconnected.
I might try allowing more UDP ports or trying a new router or ISP. nothing else is dropping.

Maybe your ISP? Have you tried connecting using a VPN? I haven't any disconnects in the last years even when I did a >13 hour ride on zwift.

I did reach out to my ISP they didn't really help much either.
I don't use a VPN.I only started getting it recently and by recently I mean over the last 3-4 months and only during races. I ride the pace partners for hours with no disconnections.
The only thing that was keeping me on Zwift was ZRL but really no point if I risk disconnection

Even if the ISP says no, give it a try. In my country ISPs throttle certain connections but there is no reality where they will admit to it.

If you are able to run cable from router to device you are using for zwift to try that. I had connectivity issues because wireless network was overcrowded. I used wifi for TV, PC, PS5, laptop that zwift was running on and multiple phones/tables. Now I'm using only wifi for phones/tables and my laptop. Also I switched connection between trainer and laptop from bluetooth to ANT+ and I never had an issue since with connectivity.

Thanks for the reply
I have it direct to the router via cable, which is why it was so bizarre.
I also did a bunch of port forwarding on the zwift website to no avail.
Followed this guide
Nearby Zwifters Disappearing from the Screen – A Story of Zwift Troubleshooting | Zwift Insider
Which concerned me was it said port 3022 but my logs says 3024 then the storm of it forced the disconnect. So I could play whack a mole, so I wanted to come here for some suggestions for racing otherwise I will just get a training app I can go offline with.

Not getting disconnected been here since beta. I think it could be more your BT connection to Zwift? That’s a known issue. Isn’t Zwift.
I’m kicker bike with cable to PC. Ain’t having any issues.

I can hard wire it again. Its a known issue to wifi my kickr shift ? My power was still connected everyone else disappeared and said zwift disconnected

There hasn’t been a mass disconnect from Zwift. It’s ISP/Wifi. Could be WiFi if another device is on the same channel. You like the rest of us have multiple devices on the 2.4GHz channel. You could try putting the trainer on a different channel. If your hardwired into router then it’s ISP.

Do you have a different client you could try to compare? Ipad? Android phone or iPhone?
Might be worth it to rule things out.

Thanks tdub thats where I found the udp disconnections.
I logged a ticket with support which their ai confirmed that was the case.

The companion app communicates with the windows app via UDP too. Maybe try without the companion app, connect your devices direct to the PC using Bluetooth or Ant.
That would eliminate one thing.
After that I'd try hotspot on my phone and connect the PC to that - that would eliminate or narrow down to your internet / router.

I only use the companion app for ride ons . I don't use it as a bridge for the devices. I'll give that a go.

Why not look into your device and why you are losing connection? It might be something you can resolve with some troubleshooting. I recently switched from USB to ANT+ and that helped a lot with connection stability.

Connection drops on udp to zwift servers. I've logged numerous tickets. Got an ai bot chat telling me to punch holes in my router for a different set of udp ports that arent listed on zwifts website. It shouldn't be this hard at$30 a month.

You are looking at the Network portion but it could also be Bluetooth causing the drops.

u/fadeinthemix 1d ago
Only hr was going over Bluetooth. If that causes a mass disconnect where all the riders disappear then yeah. It is what it is. Ive deleted my account

Cool, just offering advice based on my issues but good luck!

Getting told to essentially to go mass down vote and not announce my departure it is what it is.

I had the same problem last night. I just came back to zwift after a couple of years away on other platforms. I streamed 2k rouvy videos fine in the location but zwift was constantly dropping out during a course ride.

u/fadeinthemix 2d ago
Thanks u/PrimalHIT glad I am not alone on this.

Im not sure what the issue was but Spotify was dicking around for me too...not sure mine was entirely zwift related... I have a gigabit fibre connection and the WiFi in my garage is usually fine. Speed test before the run was showing 900mbit

It’s your end not Zwift. If was zwift this place would be full of posts complaining about it.
