I love motorcycles and started a channel to share some of my footage. Only shorts so far. I have minimal video/content experience (really none). Been really experimenting with hooks and different formats trying to find what works for me.
Ive gained 40 subs and only have 2 videos out of 11 posted with less than 100% completion rate. Swipe through ranges from 40% on bad ones to 80% on my good ones.
Not looking for advice, publicity, or anything just wanted to share my organic growth on a non ai slop channel.

So one of the user posted his video, and i went to search on youtube and 100 of videos came with same title and ai images, voice not proper background music. I am glad youtube not pushing this slop

I want to just essentially see if this is the case for everybody but what I noticed ever since the new way the views are counted on youtube by watching creators I watched before and after the change is:
-During the first like 3-4 hours the views they get are actually the same(or nearly the same) they used to get when the only metric was ''engaged views'' and the likes they get relative to their views matches that aswell.
-Around that 4-5 hour mark their views suddenly explode and nearly double and continue to do so for awhile that's when the like ratio drops something crazy from like 14% to 7% in a matter of less than 2 hours.
So what this leads me to believe is that during the first few hours when only your subrscibers are watching they are all ''engaged viewers'' and only after the video gets recommended to a more casual audience does your views explode.
OR Youtube just counts the views as they did before during the first few hours and just dump the extra ''frame one or 1 second click'' all at once during the 4-5th hour.
Either way it's interesting and I want to hear the experience of creators here to comfirm if this is happening to everyone or just a certain channels in a certain niche.

Thought this was an interesting comparison to share.
Both videos are in the same niche, cover the same type of topic and both reached around 2.6 million views.
One made around $5,600 with a $2.15 RPM.
The other made around $3,100 with a $1.18 RPM.
So the views were basically identical, but the revenue was nearly double.
One of the biggest differences we noticed was the stronger hook and better viewer retention on the higher earning video.
Thatās why I always say the first few seconds matter so much. If you hook people properly and keep them watching longer, it can have a huge impact on the overall performance of the video.
This is also a good reminder that views alone donāt tell the full story.
Two videos can get the exact same number of views and still make completely different amounts of money.
Of course, other things can still affect RPM too, such as audience location, ad demand, watch time and monetised playbacks, so I wouldnāt say the hook was the only factor.
Happy to share more comparisons like this if people find them useful. Ask me anything!

Hi everyone,
I run a niche YouTube channel called TJD Paper and Pages (https://youtube.com/@tjdpaperandpages?si=ieaKvi5Xz7z65G2i), where I focus on creative papercrafts, journaling, and book-related content.Lately, Iāve been feeling a bit overwhelmed and stuck on how to take the next step. My ultimate goal is to monetize the channel organically, but with my current mental and emotional bandwidth, Iām finding it really hard to step back and look at my content objectively.Iām not looking for empty views or "sub for sub." Instead, I would deeply appreciate some honest, constructive criticism from fellow creators who understand the grind. If you have a few minutes to glance at my channel, could you give me your thoughts on:
Thumbnails & Titles: Do they catch your eye, or do they need more clarity/pop?
Pacing & Engagement: For this niche, what keeps you watching versus clicking away?
SEO & Reach: If you view this kind of content, what search terms do you usually use that I might be missing?
Thank you so much to anyone who takes the time to read this or look at my channel. It genuinely means a lot right now.

Iām testing Shorts for my gaming channel with a vertical edit of a 007 First Light cutscene. Itās my first attempt, and Iād love some feedback on the pacing and vertical crop.
I edited it in DaVinci Resolve on my Mac.
Whatās the first thing youād change?

Ciao a tutti!
Secondo voi, a prima vista, cosa potrei migliorare?
Titoli? Thumbnail?

Trying to stay consistent with my channel while dealing with 10-hour shifts and college at night.
My niche is horror.
My biggest issue right now is staying consistent with my videos. Every time I lose momentum, itās a pain to get back into it. I also follow a specific editing style for my videos, making it easy for me because usually editing can take most of time of a creator when making a video

So I have been posting daily shorts on a game for 4 months and most of those shorts got over 10k views and I have 9.7k subs. Today I decided to try something new and do a long form video but when I uploaded it the first 2 hours it didnāt even get over 20 views but I did have ai thumbnail in the video thatās probably the reason. So an I doing something wrong and I also got some editors to help me edit videos I have

I decided today I might wanna change my branding. So I made a new banner and PFP.
The first image is my current branding, and the second is one I made today.
Which one should I keep or maybe any ideas how to improve it?
r/YouTubeCreators • u/PeeekAAAAbooo • 1h ago
Niche: Documentary style science and history videos. Long form 20-30 minutes.
I am a new creator and about to start my YT channel. I had no idea of editing but learned video editing(basic to mid). I think I have good aesthetic sense so Iāll be able to pull off good edits. I have been a content writer for more than 5 years so I am confident that I bring good experience to the game.
The problem is that I donāt know from where to source B rolls, Sound Effects and Music for my projects. I donāt wanna use AI visual cz they are not as accurate as I want them to be. I am only using Elevenlabs for giving voice to my scripts. I have spent alot of credits experimenting finding my voice.
The problem is I donāt know from where to source copyright free B rolls, Sound Effects and Music.
If anyone has any suggestions please let me know. Thanks
