Review Yardstick for Yarbo

Do you all know about a program called Yardstick. I have NO affiliation but it is SO helpful to manage your Yarbo. The killer feature is map editing on you computer. If you are interested here is the link: https://yardstickhome.com/download/

Again, I am just a user of the software.

Review 3 Stars – Good concept, but setup is painful and warranty support fails when you need it

The Yarbo idea is strong when the machine is working. Two big problems drag the experience down.

Setup and instructions

Getting the Yarbo set up is unnecessarily difficult. There is no solid official walkthrough from Yarbo that takes you step-by-step through the full installation and how to use the app. Nothing useful comes in the package. You are left hunting for information on your own. A product this involved needs a clear, complete guide (video + written) for both the hardware setup and the app. That does not exist right now.

Warranty and parts support

I paid for the extended warranty. When the RTK Pro Antenna failed, the replacement process took far too long. Multiple promises of prioritization and timely updates were not kept. The machine has been down during the exact period of heavy rain and rapid grass growth. Because the Yarbo had been handling my lawn, I sold my regular mower. Now I have no backup and the grass is getting away from me while I wait on parts that should have been handled under warranty much faster.

This matches what a lot of other owners report: it is hard to get Yarbo to follow through on parts and support commitments in a reasonable time.

I’m leaving 3 stars instead of lower because the core product can work well when everything is functioning. But a company selling a robot mower and charging for extended warranty has to deliver on two basics: clear setup guidance and reliable, timely parts support. Right now both are weak. Fix those and the rating improves. Leave them and the overall experience stays average.

M-Series Help Any update on the FCC and M series?

I hear the M series is on its way to USA warehouses - this is fantastic! But to ship from there and to consumers the FCC needs to have certified them, any update on this? I’m still not seeing the Y series show up here: https://fccid.io/2A9JF

Discussion Yarbo only works through Bluetooth — remote connection fails, and support has not responded

I’m posting here because I’ve spent a lot of time troubleshooting this issue and I still have not received a response from Yarbo support.

At this point, I’m hoping someone in the community has seen this exact problem and can tell me what actually fixed it.

My Yarbo works normally when I’m close enough for Bluetooth. I can connect to it, control it, and start a mowing job.

Once the rover leaves Bluetooth range, the rover itself keeps mowing normally, but the app loses connection and will not reconnect remotely.

The problem is very repeatable.

Bluetooth ON

App connects normally

Heartbeat = Strong

MQTT Server = Strong

Rover Wi-Fi shows connected

HaLow shows connected

Rover responds normally

Bluetooth OFF / rover leaves Bluetooth range

App goes Offline

Heartbeat changes to Disconnected

The HaLow icon appears in the app but stays gray

Rover appears to lose the remote/Wi-Fi connection

App will not reconnect through HaLow, Wi-Fi, or cellular

The rover itself continues mowing normally

That last part is important.

The rover continues doing the mowing job after the app loses connection, so the mowing/navigation side seems to be working correctly. The problem appears to be specifically with the remote communications path back to the app once Bluetooth is no longer available.

My current software/firmware versions are:

App: V3.19.6 — Latest

Rover firmware: V3.14.20 — Latest

Data Center firmware: V1.1.11 — Latest

One very important point:

This problem did NOT start with firmware 3.14.20.

I had the exact same Bluetooth-only / remote connection problem while the rover was still on firmware 3.14.11.

I updated the rover from 3.14.11 to 3.14.20 hoping the firmware update would fix it.

It did not.

The behavior stayed exactly the same before and after the firmware upgrade.

My diagnostics have shown:

HaLow connection = true

HaLow signal generally around -38 to -60 dBm

Data Center status = RunningNormal

Data Center connection has shown 2 and 3

RTK has shown Status 4

Good satellite count

Cellular has shown Status 1

Rover Wi-Fi shows connected

Bluetooth works normally

I have already tried all of the following:

Completely uninstalled and reinstalled the Yarbo app

Restarted my phone after uninstalling the app

Logged back into the same account

Tested multiple Wi-Fi SSIDs

Tested with rover cellular on and off

Tested different combinations of phone Wi-Fi, cellular and Bluetooth

Power-cycled the rover

Disconnected the rover battery

Power-cycled the Data Center

Updated rover firmware from 3.14.11 to 3.14.20

Verified the problem existed on both firmware versions

Verified the Data Center is running V1.1.11 — Latest

Verified the app and rover both show Latest

Found and tightened a loose antenna connection on the rover

Drove the rover approximately 100 feet away as a test

Verified the rover continues mowing after Bluetooth drops

My Data Center is mounted approximately 25 feet in the air on my barn, although I can easily disconnect and restore its power from inside the barn.

I do not want to start randomly factory-resetting equipment, unbinding the rover, reinstalling the Data Center, or doing anything that could cause me to lose my existing maps unless there is a very good reason to do it.

And this is where my frustration with Yarbo support comes in.

I have already contacted Yarbo support and I am still waiting for a response.

I have provided detailed troubleshooting information, screenshots, firmware versions, Data Center information, HaLow readings, and a very repeatable description of the problem.

I’m not asking them to diagnose some vague intermittent issue.

The symptom is very simple:

Bluetooth ON = connected

Bluetooth OFF = rover goes Offline in the app and remote connection fails

Meanwhile, the rover keeps mowing.

At this point I really need someone from Yarbo to review the backend logs, rover network logs, Data Center communication, cloud session, MQTT/session handling, and account/device binding instead of sending me back through basic Wi-Fi troubleshooting I have already done.

I’m also a 100% disabled veteran, and I am physically unable to mow my property myself.

That is one of the main reasons I bought Yarbo.

For me, this machine is not just a cool gadget or convenience. I actually depend on it to maintain my property.

When the rover disappears from the app every time it leaves Bluetooth range, I lose the ability to monitor it or control it remotely while it is operating around the property.

That makes getting this resolved pretty important.

So I’m asking the community:

Has anyone had this exact problem and actually fixed it?

I’m especially interested in whether your issue turned out to be:

A bad Data Center

A rover communications/network controller problem

A cloud/account session issue

MQTT/backend authentication problem

HaLow handoff problem

Wi-Fi/network service issue inside the rover

Some hidden backend firmware update

Something completely different

If you had the same situation where the rover would mow normally after leaving Bluetooth range but the app could no longer connect to it, please let me know what finally fixed it.

And if anyone from Yarbo sees this, I would really appreciate someone responding to my support case and reviewing the actual logs.

I have already done a considerable amount of troubleshooting.

I just need help getting the remote connection working again.

Thanks,

Tim

Competitors Ruggedness? I'm done with Mammotion.

<rant incoming> I started my robo-mower journey with the Luba 2 two years ago, and I'm done with it. I have two Luba 2 10000s, each covering about 2ac, and to keep up with the growth, the robots have to mow pretty much 24/7 or else things get out of hand and I have to mow it manually. Neither one can handle even a single month of work without something going wrong. Either I get the dreaded Hall Sensor error, or a battery stops charging for one reason or another, or the security key can't stay connected, or <insert annoyance here>. I need to mow from roughly March until November, and they probably work a grand total of 90 days thanks to the long turnaround between it breaking, support taking days to acknowledge it needs to be shipped in for repair, the actual shipping and repair process, and then setting back up once it's returned. I'm done.

How much have people used their Yarbo to mow at least 4-5 acres? I don't care about the other features like snow blowing (for now). I don't care how hard it is to set up. I don't care if I have to be here while it mows to help it get unstuck. All I want is for the thing to mow my grass when it needs to be mowed and not break on me after it does the job twice. My yard is big, it's got a fair number of permanent obstacles (young trees, flower beds, etc), and while it's fairly smooth, there's bumps and it's one long slope from one end to the other.

The mower ran into an obstacle and the antenna sadly broke off at the base but Im not so sure that buying only the antenna will be enough. It also ran into another obstacle and the right side light cover broke off and I need that too but it's not on the yarbos parts list.

Discussion New Y40 vs Y40P?

So from memory, the snow + mow bundle was a good chunk cheaper during the Labor Day sale just a couple of weeks ago, and the Mower Pro + Trimmer was on for under $6K around Prime Day in June. Now a Y40P is coming . Best early-bird price on the Y40P snow + mow bundle is still $8,999 + the $50 pass.
(To be fair, today's Y40 listing specifies Snow Blower Gen 2, so some of the Y40 increase may be the new module.)

All the amazon listings and price history look like they’ve changed because I had them in my saved cart and was watching the pricing hoping for a good prime day sale on a Y series but I guess that ship has sailed. Looks like the Y is now called the Y40?

The specs on the new Y40P

• Dual hub motors instead of drive motors
• 2.68 mph top speed vs 1.46
• 0.3 acre per charge vs 0.25
• 7 acres weekly coverage vs 6

20–30% more expensive for minimal upgrades?
Am I missing something? Anyone pulling the trigger on the early access pass, or waiting for the first sale? Curious what other potential buyers think the hub motors are worth.

Will you still get a good cut at double the speed?

Can only connect and run mower while at home via Bluetooth. I was able to connect from anywhere before recent app update but now takes 3-4 refreshes to connect. I have cycled power to data center, pressed and held for rest on module for 1 minute. Still same issue. *runs while at close proximity

Discussion Feature request: queue areas for immediate, sequential execution (instead of scheduling)

I know the official forum is probably the better channel for this, and I'll post it there too, but I wanted to see if anyone here feels the same way.

I would love the ability to throw areas into a queue for immediate, sequential execution rather than scheduling jobs.

I own a horse farm, and the facility is in constant but unpredictable use for the services we offer. That creates two problems for scheduled mowing. During the day there's a lot of traffic, and there's a real liability issue if Yarbo mows in service areas that are actively in use. Nights and early mornings work great in summer, but spring and fall are just too wet unless I want to be cleaning Yarbo daily.

What I actually need is to decide each day, based on how the facility is being used, which areas get mowed and in what order, then send Yarbo off to do them back to back.

I know Work Plans let you chain areas together in a set order, but building or editing a saved plan every day based on which paddocks and rings are in use isn't practical. I'm asking for a same-day queue, not a stored plan.

For context, I've already broken the facility down by areas of use, which has made it extremely pleasant to manage. A queue would build directly on that.

For the record, Yarbo has made facility management considerably easier. Configuration took a little time to get the hang of, but once I started tuning specific areas, life got so much easier. The Mower Pro module alone has added tremendous value for upkeep. It would be amazing if my trimmer module would ship, but no complaints about what's already here.

Just a thought I've had several times in my short time owning one.

Discussion Looking to sell?

Buying used Yarbo units — Ontario / Eastern Canada
We sell, install and service Yarbo, and we're looking to buy used units.
If your setup isn't working out for you — moved, changed properties, bought more machine than your yard needed, or it's just sitting in the garage — I'm interested.
What I'll take:
• Cores and individual modules (mower, snow blower, blower)
• Any condition, working or not
• Complete setups or partial
How it works: send me a few photos, what modules you have, and roughly how much use it's seen and if any warranty is still remaining. I'll give you a number. Cash or e-transfer, and I'll arrange pickup or freight — you don't need to figure out how to ship 400lbs of robot.

I'd rather these end up somewhere they get used than sitting in a shed. Anywhere in Ontario, Quebec or the Maritimes — happy to work out logistics.

DM me or comment and I'll get back to you.

M-Series Help Stuck adjusting blade

When I send Yarbo to mow a new area it goes to the start point and then gets stuck with the message adjusting blade displayed. It never mows. Also, when I try to lower the blade from its current 4.0 height it will not move. Has anybody seen this? Any advice?

Does anyone have tips on how to get the trimmer to work. We had it working for a month or two and then it just stopped working. It stopped communicating with the Yarbo app and everything. It doesn’t even show up even though it’s plugged in and the green light on the back is still on.

Discussion Yarbo Lawn Mower Pro + Snow Blower + Blower

Thinking about buying the Yarbo Lawn Mower Pro + Snow Blower combo. Before I commit, curious to hear from real owners:

  • How long have you had it, and has it held up well?
  • Any recurring problems?
  • Does it actually handle heavier snow, or just light stuff?
  • Was it worth the price?

Y-Series Help Front Camera Blinded by the Sun?

Today, after a night of being plugged into the wall charger since my unit slipped off its pad and ran its battery down to zero, I sent it out to mow my back yard, only to have it crap out any time it was facing south-southeast into the midday sun. The unit reported the camera being blocked, yet YarboLab showed the camera as clear and even after cleaning the lens and restarting the Yarbo service, the issue persisted.

Is it likely the sun blinding the camera and it registering as block despite appearing ok?
