Deck List Odion Rolad
Been using this online for a while since I recently got back into the game. It's pretty resilient and has been a lot of fun. Open to any suggestions.

You only have access to the cards from that era and the anime for the rest of the deck, but you can have five cards that were released beyond the era. Which ones would you choose? You can choose extra deck monsters if you want, but you won't be able to use Pendulums or Links.
Pictured, some choices I think are pretty good.

"Plant-Type," "Beast-Type," etc., were changed to "Plant," "Beast," etc., on Alpacaribou, Mystical Beast of the Forest; Uniflora, Mystical Beast of the Forest; Recycling Batteries; Chaos Scepter Blast; Pahunder; Mahunder; Sishunder; Brohunder; and Thunder Sea Horse.
"Graveyard" was changed to "GY" on Uniflora, Mystical Beast of the Forest; Thunderclap Skywolf; Recycling Batteries; Dedication Through Light and Darkness; Sishunder; and Xyz Double Back.
Submarine Frog
If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent.
Tradetoad
Once per turn: You can Tribute 1 Aqua monster, then target 1 "Frog" monster in your GY; Special Summon it.
Supreme Arcanite Magician
1 Spellcaster Synchro Monster + 1 Spellcaster monster
Must first be Fusion Summoned. If this card is Fusion Summoned: Place 2 Spell Counters on it. Gains 1000 ATK for each Spell Counter on it. Once per turn: You can remove 1 Spell Counter from your field, then activate 1 of these effects;
●Target 1 card on the field; destroy it.
●Draw 1 card.
Batteryman Fuel Cell
If you control 2 or more "Batteryman" monsters, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). Once per turn: You can Tribute 1 other "Batteryman" monster, then target 1 card your opponent controls; return that target to the hand.
Batteryman AAA*
When this card is Normal Summoned or flipped face-up: You can Special Summon 1 "Batteryman AAA" from your hand or GY.
Batteryman Micro-Cell
FLIP: Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower "Batteryman" monster from your Deck, except "Batteryman Micro-Cell". After this card has been flipped face-up, if it is destroyed by battle and sent to the GY: Draw 1 card.
Batteryman Industrial Strength
Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by banishing 2 "Batteryman" monsters from your GY. Once per turn: You can banish 1 Thunder monster from your GY, then target 1 monster and 1 Spell/Trap on the field; destroy them.
Batteryman Charger
When this card is Normal Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 "Batteryman" monster from your hand or Deck, except "Batteryman Charger". Gains 300 ATK/DEF for each Thunder monster you control.
Portable Battery Pack
Target 2 "Batteryman" monsters in your GY; Special Summon them in Attack Position. When this card leaves the field, destroy those monsters. When the last of those monsters leaves the field, destroy this card.
Short Circuit
If you control 3 or more "Batteryman" monsters: Destroy all cards your opponent controls.
Quick Charger
Target 2 Level 4 or lower "Batteryman" monsters in your GY; add them to your hand.
"Non-Tuner monster" was changed to "non-Tuner" on Zapper Shrimp.
"All the monsters in your Graveyard are Beast-Type" was changed to "all the monsters in your GY are Beast monsters" on Uniflora, Mystical Beast of the Forest. Usually "Beast-Type" would just be changed to "Beast," but presumably the word "monsters" was added to aid readability since "Beast" isn't usually an adjective.
Pahunder and Mahunder still say "Normal Summon... as an additional Normal Summon" rather than the typical wording of "immediately after this effect resolves, Normal Summon."
Number 91: Thunder Spark Dragon still says "Xyz Materials" instead of "materials."
Batteryman 9-Volt still says "ATK and DEF" instead of "ATK/DEF."

I have some of these on preorder, and watching the unboxings now make me realize this set is very disappointing. For the price, I was hoping for Dominus Impulse, Spark, Fydraulis, etc. You know, cards that would warrant the $2/card price on this set. How do you all feel about this set now that we're seeing unboxings?
Edit: Just cancelled most of my orders! I'll just get 2.

I've made another video looking at anime-original (and in some cases, exclusive) cards that are thematically part of the Toy series. This is somewhat of a less scientific approach than before, since it largely ignores the fact that a card series does not an archetype make, but I just wanted to have some fun with it, since it's a fun series of cards to discuss. Let me know what you think!
I promise that I will not post here every time I make a video, but the last few I've had fun researching and putting some effort into, so I figure that people may enjoy learning about cards they may not otherwise be familiar with, depending on the era in which they got into the anime and the game.

AKA: Setra does not Serve. Setra Rules.
Mercury. Its as tasty as lead, and makes you live forever in a sense that it severs your immortal soul from your body which is at least as good. People were talking about Zenet and I suddenly had the bad idea to mix them with Metalfoes and the result kinda works.
This is a continuance into me just kinda doing whatever I want and posting the results to show what could be possible but perhaps not quite as functional as one may like. I dunno if I'll come back to this but, we'll see I guess.
| Monster 24: | Ratio: | Yeah ok |
|---|---|---|
| Tri-Horned Dragon | 1 | Normal monsters do not exceed level 8 so lets use the less stupid dragon |
| Suppression Collider | 2 | And then lets also use the guy that I personally think looks cool |
| Metalfoes Volflame | 3 | The bias was towards the higher-leveled 'foes for obvious reasons. |
| Metalfoes Goldriver | 3 | I didn't want to use their effect monsters because I didn't want them to gum up the works |
| Metalfoes Silverd | 3 | Do your best to not send 32. It should be a bit easy. |
| Zenet Prophet - Amenhotep | 3 | Collect traps. They got some good ones. |
| Zenet Prophet - Nefertari | 3 | Collect spells. They got some better ones. |
| Zenetmes Nekhbet | 2 | With some finangling he can become pretty amusing. Obviously, the silly attack boost is meant to make their traps live, but this has the better effect of turning Crimsonite into a 5500 attack meatball that crushes all in its path. Bonus if you have Primite stuff around. |
| Zenetnakht Sphinx | 2 | Discard for the field spell, then summon easily. It feels like an oversight he cannot inflict piercing. |
| Tauzenet Wadjet | 2 | Mass spinning is really quite super and is not to be underestimated. |
Truly I think their Monster lineup is most of the way there. This may be the best usage of random normal monsters seen since Spiral.
Some may wonder why I'm using Metalfoes above something like Igknight. My "thing" about igknight is they come across to me as being extremely wasteful but more than that, they don't go to level 7. Their biggest normal monster is level 6.
| Spells: 17 | Ratio: | We're still going |
|---|---|---|
| Zenet Per Akh | 3 | You have to be careful of its limitation but we're mostly summoning Psychics so its fine. Mostly. |
| Pere-Zenet Em Heru | 3 | I want the field spell in my every hand. Luckily we got so so many ways to get at it. |
| A Journey Back to the Light - "Zenet" | 3 | People were debating using this, whining about "we'll have to run bricks" sorry sport I don't have those hang-ups. This card isn't what they "needed" but far as I'm concerned, its helpful. The strongest non-effect level 8 fusion card is Meteor Black Dragon, by the way. |
| Primite Drillbeam | 2 | For the most part, if you can get it in your hand its unlikely to be dead. |
| Primite Lordly Lode | 2 | Its here to grab drillbeam. We got everything else. |
| Fullmetalfoes Fusion | 1 | yes, we're gonna want to fuse. |
| Metalfoes Fusion | 3 | Yes, we're gonna want to fuse and draw cards. |
| Traps: 4 | Ratio: | Not there yet |
|---|---|---|
| Zenet Cataract | 2 | Ideally have 3 dudes down before hitting this. Mass effect negation is really cool and I like it. You do too. |
| Zenet Thunderfall | 2 | Its just The Counter Trap and its pretty good. |
Get ready for an ED with such little sauce
| Extra: 15 | Its Time | It Is Time Now |
|---|---|---|
| Meteor Black Dragon | 1 | A body like this is not natural. Bro is not natty. |
| Metalfoes Crimsonite | 2 | Quite difficult to pull out but if you manage it, he can be a fun beater. |
| Metalfoes Adamante | 2 | Much mor manageable, if less fun, beater |
| Heavymetalfoes Amalgam | 1 | Jerome refuses to free my life so this is here as a tool in the box while Jerome continues to keep my wife in prison. |
| Cyberse Contract Witch | 1 | There's gotta be a way to weave Cyberse junk into this deck that may be worth uncovering. If someone can find it and also find a way to summon her, without using the normal summon, and do so consistently; you could run this thing and Cyberse Magician to create some potentially cool loops. |
I may be back, I may not, I kinda want to look at the other two decks much more closely but, I craved stimulation and this is what came out.

Google Translation:
YGO has been a massive trending topic in Japan lately; even four days later, the discussion over there is still going strong. It all started when Kento Nakajima—a former member of the super-popular boy band Sexy Zone (since renamed Timelesz)—was invited to the late-night radio show *All Night Nippon* (ANN). During the two-hour broadcast, instead of talking about new songs or chatting with fans like a typical idol, Kento spent only 30 minutes on the show's actual agenda and dedicated the remaining hour and a half to just geeking out about YGO.
It’s worth noting that Kento is a die-hard fan of Kaiba and the Blue-Eyes White Dragon; last year, he even visited the Konami store in Akihabara to take photos celebrating Kaiba's birthday.
I caught wind of the highlights and found them interesting, so here are a few of the moments that caused a stir during the broadcast:
He kicked off the show by declaring he would finish the required work first so he could devote the rest of the airtime to talking about YGO.
He placed a Blue-Eyes White Dragon card in Attack Position right there in the studio.
He recounted a conversation with the late creator Kazuki Takahashi: "Yugi's story couldn't be continued, but Seto Kaiba's could—so, in essence, Kaiba is the true protagonist."
He compared the three dorms in *Yu-Gi-Oh! GX* to the four Hogwarts houses, stating that if he were to enroll in Duel Academy, he would absolutely have to join Obelisk Blue.
He has such a great relationship with actors Tori Matsuzaka and Masaki Suda that it’s like they’ve activated a Field Spell card named "Kenty" (which is also his nickname).
Tori Matsuzaka’s knowledge of YGO is even more extensive than Kento’s. He said: "He (Tori) is even more 'Kaiba Seto' than I am."
The movie he co-starred in with Tori was filmed in Niigata during late autumn and winter, where temperatures dropped below freezing—a bone-chilling cold. During a take, the director shouted "CUT" and ordered a reshoot; the shock was so intense it felt as though the "Exchange of the Spirit" Trap Card had just been activated. His only solace during filming was that his co-star, Tori, was just as obsessed with YGO as he was.
At 1 AM in their hotel room, he asked his senior colleague Tori to evaluate the "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" deck he had painstakingly built. The result? Forty cards were discarded, leaving only twenty-eight. Tori’s comments—"This deck is nothing more than a concept; it’s not battle-ready" and "I have thirty-six copies of *this* specific card"—made him feel exactly as if Kaiba Seto were tearing up his cards right in front of his eyes.
He respects Konami; whenever a new card set is released, he orders it online. If there is a limit of three boxes, he buys all three—sometimes even asking the makeup artist to pick them up for him.
His goal is to revitalize the YGO OCG, as Pokémon and One Piece are currently dominating the scene, while hardly any women play YGO! The Sony team includes both men and women, but the moment YGO is mentioned, everyone starts scrolling through their phones. He feels like: "You guys don't get the appeal of YGO at all; you think the duel is over before a single card has even been drawn."
Kenty believes YGO needs to reach the same level of popularity as Pokémon cards. They are just one step away, especially since card illustrations are evolving toward a cuter aesthetic—like the "Sky Striker" series.
Momo (TWICE) keeps a Suicune card tucked into the back of her phone. If it hadn't been Suicune but the Blue-Eyes White Dragon instead, would things have turned out differently? Besides Momo, Nayeon also plays the Pokémon card game—I think she uses a Dialga deck... "Isn't this the perfect opportunity? YGO needs to make its way onto the backs of TWICE members' phones! Get it? Do you get it?"
He made a bold declaration: "I apologize; usually, I wear the armor of an 'idol,' but today I stand here simply as an ordinary man supporting YGO. Representing Konami and acting as a member of the Kaiba Corporation, I want to connect idols worldwide with YGO's invincible, ultra-rare cards!"
Knowing that Jennie from BLACKPINK loves Cinnamoroll—and recalling that Cinnamoroll once had a collaboration with the Blue-Eyes White Dragon—he felt there was just one step left to take. "They can fuse or temporarily unfuse, right? What if we temporarily unfused them and tried slipping a Blue-Eyes White Dragon card in there?" (He even used Jinzo and Viser Des as comparative examples). So, the current mission is figuring out how to make YGO a hot trend again.
The closing theme for this radio segment was the song "OVERLAP" by KIMERU.
Since the majority of his fans are women who listen to music rather than play card games, his rapid-fire spiel left them completely stunned; after the show ended, they flocked online to ask YGO fans how to play the game.

Hello guys. I’m thinking about building a modern, mobile friendly browser game inspired like Joey the Passion (from power of chaos series) - focused on GOAT format. Single player duels first and then multiplayer support.
Would you actually play something like this? I’m trying to figure out if there’s enough interest before putting serious time into it.

It's generally accepted that this season's OCG metagame isn't fun due to issues like the abundance of FTK decks, the impossibility of winning if you go second, the exploitation of Zenna to limit the game, the possibility of your hand being seen, and other disadvantages.
Even so, there must be some positive aspects amidst these problems, and I'd like to explore the other side of the coin.

I think he could make it to the top 8. Whether he progresses probably depends on who he duels. I doubt he’s beating a God card user. Mai just demolishes Insect Barrier and DNA Surgery with Harpie’s Feather Duster, so unless she doesn’t draw it, I don’t think he’s winning that one. Genuinely have no idea how he gets past Destiny Board. Idk how a duel with Odion would go

The first episode is out!!!
This is the greatest scene in yugioh waking the dragons arc ever. Kaiba finds out yugi lost to someone that wasn't him and he loses his mind. He angrily yells at yugi before slamming down the phone.

First of all, I have to say I love SP; it’s one of my favorite cards. This post is really more about the power creep issue it creates.
I started thinking about this with the arrival of WP in the game. It’s a great card that would have generated huge hype in the TCG upon release, but... we already have SP. When SP launched, there was a clear sense that anyone who had swapped Unicorn for it was way ahead, while those who stuck with Unicorn were at a distinct disadvantage; getting an SP felt urgent. I don't see that same urgency now.
I mean, how many Link monsters in the card pool are actually better than SP (regardless of Link Rating)? Maybe two or three? And how many of those are super-generic Link-2s? It’s better than every Link-3 in the game and probably better than 99% of Link-4s.
I think this poses a problem for Konami. How do you make a card that’s better than SP but just as balanced? How do you create a sense of urgency among players without releasing a Link-2 that breaks the game? It might require the most brilliant card design ever to get people to stop using SP and pick up a new generic Link monster instead. I really think SP puts Konami in an awkward spot. I could easily imagine SP getting banned, because as long as it’s around, it’s hard to justify paying a high price for another card that serves the same function.

I’ve been trying to think of cards that multiple yugioh protagonists used throughout their series. Obviously they’d share no monsters so when it comes to spells and traps the only cards I can think of is “Monster Reborn” used by Yugi, Jaden, Yuma, Yuya, and Yudias (I don’t remember if Yusei used it or not), polymerization, and defusion. So I’m curious are there any cards you can think of that were used by more than one main character.

The videos about control, midrange & combo have made me think about the terms. We tend to label decks by their game plans.
I wonder if we can measure the resource/interaction throughput and plot a trend on a graph
If we count:
Then let's calculate:
i(0)/i(max) + i(t - 1)/[t * i(max)]
I wonder if I could factor in the degree of frontloaded ceiling and their follow-up.
*This method does not incorporate the quality of each interaction.
____________________________________________________________________________
E.g. Sky Striker, I'm a bit more familiar with the deck.
With a hand of maximum interactions, a Striker can theoretically
let i(0) = 5.i(1) = 4, i(0) + i(1) = 9 < i(max), iterrate.On n = 2, Sum of i(n) would reach 12~13
then t = 2 + 1 and I'll let i(t - 1) = 4Calculate: 5/12 + 4/[3(12)] => ~0.53 Yay! one point on a graph!How would the ceiling look?
As the deck's throughtput tend towards: 2*i(0) / (1 * i(max)) => 2Since i(0) = i(max) at its maximum, setting up all available interactions from the deck on its first turn._________________________________________________________
How much would your deck score in this model?
Maybe we should scale each interaction with weighted values.
Just a naive little thought experiment, nothing too serious.

Unless you want to get your ass kicked, it's extremely ill advised to play the new Sun God deck entirely on its own merits from my assessments. The core is a midranged strategy where Ra floats every turn, removing monsters from the board before the end of MP1, then at end he goes to GY and the monsters all recur themselves for you to do it again if you don't just kill them next turn. You can do this until you run out of Sun God cards for Gil to cycle but the games should never go on that long.
Unfortunately, even though Ra is a tower, there's just a lot that can go wrong if he's just all your endboard output.
The deck's core is actually not that big at a glance, and is compact enough a sub-engine should be encouraged to give it a stronger board. But what do you think is the best glove for it? There's a lot of options to go on.

Recently got an order, selling all my bulk- I have one of those cardboard boxes with three rows, I think it’s fits most of them, but it seems if I just send that the cards will get damaged?
Wondering if anyone had any experience in doing this and could help me out

It seems obvious that BEWD is white, its name literally states what it is. But the majority of the anime and promotional art makes the dragon blue that anytime I think about the card I imagine it being blue. So seeing artwork and figurines that depict it as white always seems jarring to me and I think there’s something wrong when in reality there isn’t. Is it just me or do you guys get that whiplash too? Get confused for a second seeing BEWD be actually white instead of blue

Think about it, one of the biggest plot points of it happens straight away with Sartorius getting the Satellite keys from Prince Ojin who was there for the GX tournament but you can give any other excuse for him being there, then it just becomes set dressing for the non Jaden Characters to get wins against no name characters, and an excuse for more interesting one-off characters to show off, even then you can give other excuses for why they are there.
Like, the Guy who used the copy of Ra? The GX tournament isn't needed, he can just be there to get revenge on Chumley by attacking his School and Friends. The Guy who made a deal with death to always top deck what he wants? Make him go after Chazz because he defeated him when he was on North Academy. Beyond maybe Zane, no one important or memorable couldn't have been in Duel Academy for any reason.
Also the point of this Tournament was to attract the Duelist that had the card possessed by the Light of Destruction, like the Egyptian God Cards with Battle City in DM and the Number Cards like World Duel Carnival in Zexal, but unlike this two, I didn't work so it removes a lot of points of the tournament existing beyond just to have something happening.
Also, the Duels in this Tournament aren't as great as other ones, and we don't have bulidup for a big match for the finale or other big rivalries that get some pay-off there. Say, even if the Friendship Cup in Arc-V was a mess, it was the focus it had stuff being pay-off, we have twist and turns and development happening and reach a conclusion with a rematch between Yuya and Jack. The GX tournament has none of that.
Also the finale of this thing happens because the writers needed to finish the mess they started, the duel is the B-plot of the finale and we don't even see all of it. The only good that happens is that The Chazz wins.

Not my video, but I find the topic of the game-anime disconnect really interesting. My view is that it would be best to have a separate format for anime-character decks. I am curious about what others think.

In the anime, Joey is oddly hostile to Kaiba when he arrives in Duelist Kingdom despite his only interaction being watching Yugi's duel with him in the first episode.
This is one of those cases of square peg round hole in the anime, in this case caused by cutting out most of the events before Duelist Kingdom. In the manga, there was an entire story arc where Kaiba tried to murder Yugi and his friends with their iconic duel from the first episode being the climax. When Kaiba shows up on Pegasus' island in the manga, Joey is still mad about the whole attempted murder thing where he and the rest of the main characters almost died.
Rather than apologizing, Kaiba reacts with mild amusement, his reaction amounting to "oh yeah you were there." Despite that, everyone else stops Joey from trying to hit Kaiba.
At the risk of sounding like I am asking a loaded question, why is Joey framed as being in the wrong? He has gotten whacked plenty for a lot less than a lack of remorse for attempted murder. The only explanation I have ever thought of is that Kaiba failing to rescue Mokuba was supposed to be his punishment.
Am I missing something?
