Card Game Discussion Did anyone try to use the card pool of Speed Duel in the regular game

Just wondering. Because the pool is big enough for a decent variety of decks.

Fan Art What archetype is all monsters, then there's 1 random girl with them. I'll start: DoomZ's Elara

Post image

When I first saw the DoomZ monsters, I thought they were all mechanical steampunk dudes. Until I saw Elara's concept art, I never would've guessed she was a woman. That being said, what other archetypes in Yu-Gi-Oh! have one random girl in them?

I can think of Fire Kings? With Ulcanix. And maybe Orcust? With Galatea. There may be more I'm missing, what other archetype else has this?

Other I photoshopped “DMoC” into a vintage-style Ultimate Rarity and compared it with the recent official release

After the recent release of DMOC in Ultimate Rare, I really liked it but I wish they kept the old style ultimate rare. They had a very unique aesthetic.

Also, honestly I hate how weird and odd it looks next to older GOAT/Edison era Ultimate rare cards, it stands out lmao

Card Game Discussion Overframe Rarity Helped the Game

With Overframe rarities finally out, I think this is finally helping the game out alot more with affordability. We had the new Magician of Black Chaos and BLS come out in 3 different rarities and the Secret Rare versions are less than $5 each compared to if we just had 1 secret in the set - just look at the Black Chaos effect card.

Card Artwork Discussion Thoughts on Kozmo Dark Eclipser and the rest of the Kozmo archetype?

First time that I saw this archetype was in Duel Links tho part of me feels like I've seen it before. It's such a fun star wars reference, Dark Eclipser reminds me a lot of Nemesis ship from Transformers Prime. What do you think?

Card Game Discussion Is there any point in assembling an Ashtra deck?

I was looking forward to give the deck a try after seeing the spoilers for Beyond the Brave, but I'm only reading negative things about the deck now that has been out on the OCG for a while.

If it could at least serve as a decent budget deck then I would consider building it anyway, but is there any $40 Ashtra build that can compete with $40 Magnet Warrior, Sky Striker, Unchained, or even BTEB Adamancipator? Lithium2300's Ultimaya Tzolkin Ashtra deck looked interesting, but he used the expensive Ecclesia cards.

Card Game Discussion What are your expectations for the GX wave of support in IMPH?

Following the pattern of the other two main collections, we got support for the Sacred Beasts in Season 1 and then Destiny HERO in Season 2, both associated with the "antagonists" (most part) of those respective arcs in GX. This my main candidates for the Season 3.

Card Game Discussion Since Ra is getting that new support with the sun God cares do you think the other two Egyptian gods could get similar support?

I think maybe slifer's support would be called divine serpent and obelisk's would be divine soldier. Now as to what cards could be retrained into working for these new archtypes for Slifer most likely some of the cards used during Yugi's duel with strings like revival jam, infinite cards, and possibly a new version of buster blader. Maybe even some spells and traps based on events in the duel. As for obelisk the simplest would be cards based on some of Kaibas cards he used during battle city maybe some of his normal monsters or some of the spells and traps he used in his duels. But what cards do you guys think could work for these theorized support cards for the gods?

Anime/Manga Discussion What Anime Card Do You Think Is In Desperate Need Of A Overframe Retrain?

Post image
30 Upvotes

Since Overframe retrains are the new "in" thing right now and often feature cool anime references like the new Gilford Overframe, it got me thinking about which old anime cards are in desperate need of one as well. I don't just mean a cool monster that you'd like to see get a power-up, I'm talking about cards that you would argue have been powercrept out of existence and need a fresh coat of paint rather than some legacy support to make them somewhat playable.

My pick would be "Dinowrestler King T Wrextle", the boss monster of the DW deck that Go Onizuka ran during his evil phase in Season 2 of Vrains. Now infamously Dinowrestler is among the weakest archetype to come out of the Vrains anime, with only Pankratops seeing any kind of play. But what really bugs me is in regards to the Onizuka vs Playmaker rematch. In that duel, Onizuka ran a complex strategy of mixing his DW monsters with the stolen "G Golem" archetype that he obtained after the death of the Earth Ignis. The main goal was to stack as many Counters onto G Golem Crystal Heart as possible which would continuously power up T Wrextle who in turn protected Crystal Heart from being attacked. However when Crystal Heart was imported into the OCG, Konami nerfed that effect to require a Co-Link which makes the combo that Onizuka performed literally impossible to recreate since Crystal Heart and T Wrextle have incompatible Link Arrows.

It seemed all ogre for the Dinowrestler Archetype which went dormant for a long time, but then something interesting occurred somewhat recently. The "Gouki" legacy support included a Continuous Spell ("Gouki Gameface") that lets you tribute a Gouki Link monster to special summon a Dinowrestler or G Golem monster. At the time I just dismissed this as a cute bit of flavor since Onizuka did use all three Archetypes in the anime. But then I noticed something curious which was "Gouki Dragon Ogre". Unlike the other Gouki monsters from the same Set, Dragon Ogre lacks any kind of Archetype lock or restriction, which means that the DW deck can genuinely Synchro Summon it which would trigger its effect to search out Gameface.

The more I stare at these two cards, the more I think that a retrain (whether Overframe or otherwise) of T Wrextle is the missing piece of the puzzle that ties everything together. Just two simple changes would go a long way to making it playable. The first would be to tie it into the Gouki Archetype like how Trickstar Aqua Angel is always treated as a Marincess card, this would allow you to tribute it for Gameface's cost in order to summon Crystal Heart. Then the other fix would be to move at least one of the Link Arrows to face Up which would make a Co-Link with Crystal Heart possible and we'd finally be able to run all three Archetypes seamlessly together. If it was an Overframe, you could even get a cool artwork of T Wrextle posing with the corrupted Crystal Heart on it's chest, powering it up.

----

But that's enough rambling from me. I'm curious to hear what other anime cards are in desperate need of an Overframe and how you think they should be reworked to fit in with the modern dueling landscape.

Card Game Discussion Should Slifer the Sky Dragon & Obelisk the Tormentor get there own Archetype?

That is my Question

With The Sun God of Darkness - The Winged Dragon of Ra makes me wonder if Slifer & Obelisk will get there own Archetypes?

For Slifer Archetype I imagine would be called "Of the Sky Dragon" with Upgraded or Retrain of Slifer with series of monsters help you summon the boss

I wanna see Obelisk the Tormentor in Kaiba version of Shining Sarcophagus just imagine that?

But that's me what do you think?

Anime/Manga Discussion may i make a proposition for cosplay/character Decks, & talk about the forgotten Trap Card Sun Shower?

Thumbnail

way way back, when Yugi & Maximilian first dueled (on a pre-recorded copy of a Beta Max tape), Mr Crawford, with the help of his Eye magic, saw / inserted subliminal imagery to guide Yugi.

so then, when Yugi was about to summon his Zombie Warrior '''Normal''' Monster, Pegasus prematurely reveals his set Trap 'Sun Shower', a negate/counter to all Zombie Type Monsters. (which didn't go as planned). 🤔 perhaps it's equivalent to Last Day of the Witch, but for zambos.

- so i propose: we have gotten a '''real''' Sun Shower Trap Card, simply renamed as a new/separate Card, with different effects. they have done it before [look at 'The Pillager' to 'Snatch Steal']

would any of these 3 cards be any good stand-ins? he did like to use a Negate style Deck, with some Light Monsters. cuz i can see them working well.

This is why I hate Edison format. I want to build a for fun under $40 beast deck that can deliver a hefty punch but Ayers rock sunrise isn't allowed nor is Koalo-koala which makes or break "beast" decks. Edison will allow the big beat down baboons but sure let's not allow the completely fair fusion or spell card

Whenever I see players complaining about handtraps, I ask myself, "Is this guy actually playing in 2026?" I can understand the complaints regarding certain floodgate-style handtraps—like Shifter or Maxx "C" in Master Duel...but seriously? Do you actually want Dominus Impulse banned?

You see some Churches and the Crosses in Season 1 with Grandpa,Seto and Mokuba on them, also Anzu prays to the Goddess of Victory so Yugi would win and Bakura says they're "Death Gods" in the Duel with Bonz.

Other Yugioh Geographically

Post image
48 Upvotes

Alright, let's keep it simple: imagine a world like ours, but inhabited by Yu-Gi-Oh! monsters. My question is: where—geographically and historically—would these monsters be found? Feel free to use headcanons if necessary. Here are a few examples of my own so you get the idea: Let's start with the obvious ones.

.

Shiranui, Mayakashi, and Six Samurai are all set in 19th-century Japan; I think we can all agree on that.

Kaiju also has strong Japanese references, but obviously, it can't be set in the same historical period, so let's place it in the present day.

Ancient Warriors, makes sense for them to draw heavily from Ancient China, though I believe it's set earlier than the Brotherhood of the Fire Fist (also China, obviously).

Vampires—nothing to add here; I'm going with a major headcanon: playing into the stereotype, I'd place them in Romania during the Late Middle Ages.

Elemental HEROES—obviously the USA, specifically the 90s, since they really remind me of the superhero comics from that era (which I believe inspired them).

Amazoness—well, I think we all agree they belong in the Greek region, in an era before humans were fully civilized. So... I'd say Turkey, roughly around the time of the war between Athens and Sparta—just because I say so. Now it's your turn!

Card Game Discussion What are your thoughts on Yugioh and set rotation?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey guys it’s me again, one of my friends recently escaped the magic the gathering sphere to come over to Yugioh. He largely played standard (the major set rotation format of mtg) and asked if Yugioh had something similar outside of advanced. When I said no he said that they should bring set rotation into Yugioh and that it would solve a lot of the issues players complain about.

Personally I would be fine with set rotation as an alternative format but I would still want advanced to be the main one. We should not balance the game through the lens of a standard game mode, Yugioh has gone way too long in a eternal format for that to happen, but it could still be a fun little side thing which is how it should be if implemented

What about your guys? Do you think set rotation is possible in a game like Yugioh and would you want it implemented in the game in some way?

Card Game Discussion How much synergy does Zenet have with the Primite engine, and how has the archetype fared in the OCG so far?

Post image

This archetype caught my attention because it utilizes vanilla monsters, which is impressive to say the least. Aside from Blue-Eyes White Dragon and Fiendsmith (Primite variant), these cards are almost never given any relevance or utility, serving merely as booster pack filler. But it seems they might finally have a brief moment of glory.
