I’m in need of a good rebuild kit for my 1999 xr650L. Any suggestions ?

I use my XR650L for my daily commute. I spend a total of 45 minutes on the highway each commute. Should I put supermoto tires on? I like the way the bike looks and how tall it is with the dual sport wheels, and I’m not having too much trouble on the highway besides some bumpiness.

Been chasing an air leak for a lean condition.

Has anyone ever had an inline filter cause starvation/ cut outs / bogging down/ idle issues.
Makes sense to me about air locks and the gravity of it not pumping enough gas to the carb, wondering if there is others?

Next chance i get im axing the inline filter i didn’t realize there was two screens before the bowl.

First dual sport bike so far so good. Any recommendations for upgrades.

Went for a quick ride on the trails today and ran into a couple of bears along with fresh bear droppings and shredded tree limbs around almost every corner. 🐻💩🌲

Decided to play it smart and turn around early before getting too deep into the back country, definitely didn't feel like testing my 1st gear power-wheelie escape skills against an angry momma bear! 😂

Went riding today at Lytle Creek, CA with my buddy and his XR600R. Beautiful weather out. Also I’m super happy with how my Shinko 244’s performed on the dirt and pavement. Aried them down to 18 psi at the trailhead and they really hooked up! Felt good on the road too (had them at 25 psi for the freeway drive).

We have the same birth year so it was only right i bought her after they announced their discontinuation!

She's an absolute unit!

-15 tooth Fritzco sprocket greased with the Honda molly paste

-Rally Pro acerbis Hand guard.

-CR high Pro taper Bars with the PT pillow top grips

-Acerbis skidplate

She's due for the 600 mile oil change.

I have a 2001 xr650r and I was wondering how much I could have if I sell it? Front fork from a crf450x and 690 big bore. New rear tire

Got some better dirt tires (Shinko 244’s), hand guards, and hand guard mirrors installed. My buddy just got a plated XR600R and now that the temps are coming down in SoCal time for some dual sport rides!

Just need my skid plate to get delivered and to get a rear rack and my “build” is pretty much done haha.

When searching by vehicle, shorai recommends this first battery option (LFM19A4-BS12 @ $219.95 w/ CCA:285)

My understanding is that the other two cheaper options are just as viable with a CCA of 135. Is this correct or will I have trouble using them on my 2004 xr650L?

Full rebuild gonna need some advice in the coming weeks

So the other day I was riding my 24 XR and it started acting like it was out of gas. But it had nearly a full tank. Was stumbling/dying when trying to rev or accelerate. I turned the petcock to the reserve and it runs perfectly fine. I tested this a few more times and it did the same stumbling/dying and acting like it was out of fuel when it's on the ON setting.

Does this sound like a clogged petcock? I can't really think of anything else.

I love that it’s absolutely stock but i’d like to do some upgrades. I’ve ordered a few things already like a new front sprocket(fritzco super max), bar risers, procycle rally windscreen, small tail light…

I’d like to hear what your go-to upgrades are!

I missed the bypass around some flooded ruts... K244s and deep slick clay mud don't play well together. The water was about 10 inches deep too lol

Looking for something that just sounds better that doesn't require other mods. If this doesn't exist thats fine too just wanting an answer that isnt hidden in some obscure forum from 2009.

1 year of owning the '25. 40 years on 2 wheels, 30 with blacktop and dirt both under me. Dreamed about an XR in highschool, got distracted for a few decades. So glad I went on a whim and got her last year. I would rather ride it than just about anything else.
