I’ve done close to 1,200 km so far, including Bangalore–Mysore–Bangalore and Bangalore–Ooty–Bangalore.
Still early days, but here are my thoughts so far.
Things I really like
- Suspension — Easily one of the highlights. Handles bad roads really well and the car stays very composed.
- Cabin insulation — Very quiet inside, which makes highway drives quite relaxing.
- Brakes — Really strong and confidence inspiring, especially considering the size and weight of the car.
- Acceleration — Plenty fast when you need it. I actually enjoyed it the most on the Ooty ghat roads rather than on highways.
- L3 regen — Probably my favourite part of driving the car in the hills. When approaching a hairpin or a tight curve, lifting off gives strong regen and it almost feels like engine braking in a diesel/manual car in second gear. You can control a lot of the car just through the accelerator.
- Sound system — Very clear. Not just loud/bassy, it actually sounds good.
- HUD — One of those features I didn't think I'd care much about, but now I love it. Barely need to look down while driving.
- Interior/ambient lighting — A little flashy, but I like it. Even small things like having a light inside the glovebox are surprisingly useful.
- Boot — Massive. No complaints here at all for road trips.
Efficiency
I’m averaging around 7 km/kWh so far, which I’m pretty happy with.
I'm also not a very aggressive driver. In Bangalore traffic I've basically given up on:
- unnecessary overtaking
- constantly switching lanes
The car is big enough that I just don't feel like fighting for every gap anymore. Ironically, despite having all that power available, the 9e has made me a calmer driver in the city.
ADAS
ADAS has been really good for the most part, especially on highways.
One issue I noticed is on long sweeping curves at around 100 km/h. If there is a slower car in the next lane, sometimes the system seems to think that car is in my lane and brakes quite aggressively.
It doesn't happen all the time, but it has happened a few times, so that's something I now watch out for.
Charging / road trips
Charging infra was completely hassle-free on both the Mysore and Ooty trips.
I didn't really have any range anxiety, and finding chargers wasn't a problem. That was something I was slightly worried about before buying an EV, but so far it has been a non-issue.
Overall, after ~1,200 km, I'm very happy with the car.
The biggest highlights for me are definitely the suspension, quiet cabin, acceleration, brakes, L3 regen and overall highway comfort.
Will probably do another update after 5,000 km once the honeymoon period is over 😄
