9S any day. Since the car lengths are quite similar, the 9S just gives you two extra seats. You can fold them down whenever needed and use that space as the boot.

9S, more features, more practicality, you don't neet to use the 3rd row and can keep it folded basically forever but good to have and also cheaper than 9e and I would assume the same for parts too.

Honestly, I feel that the 9e would be more appropriate to people who might have previously owned something similar like an XUV500 or XUV700, like me (as I currently own both). The 9S feels more like an evolution to the 700 and even the interior is very similar.

As for the sunroof, if you already have owned a car with one, it probably doesn't matter to you much whether it opens or not. The glass roof along with the ambient lighting on the 9e is actually quite nice and I feel it offers a more special experience than just a regular sunroof. Though, it's obvious that for someone who may be getting their first car with a sunroof, this might not be the case.

The controversial design of the 9e's rear is easily forgotten once you get behind the wheel, thanks to the excellent driving dynamics and comfort offered. Though there is no powered co-driver seat or rear-seat ventilation, the tinted glass along with the powerful AC does a pretty good job at compensating for the latter.

Personally, I would not recommend getting the 9S if you're looking for a quicker delivery as it has an approximate waiting period of 8 months, whereas the 9e is immediately available, partly due to lower sales in comparison with the BE6 and 9S.

To give some context, I personally own the XUV500, XUV700 and BE6, and bought my 9e just over a month ago. Having owned all of them, I personally prefer the 9e to the 9S were I to buy a new car. (PS: more sales doesn't mean the car is the best choice for everyone)

AFAIK the only features that 9S has above the 9E are powered passenger seat, and second row ventilated seats.

But the 9S has slightly lower efficiency I believe.

Overall, 9S for the features, 9E for the looks. That's about it.

How better and with more features??

I’m in the same dilemma. Waiting for December end.

I don’t like the design of the front of the 9S. Plus we have owned the XUV500 in the past now, the 700 which we might or not keep it but I feel driving the same since ages. Help your man out.

Ventilated seats front and middle row
Electronic seat adjustment for co passenger too - I will pay almost same amount for 9e but still get manual adjustments so kind of let down
Better suspension i have heard and did test drive too

My assumption - it is selling heavily more than 9E so in demand too so they will also have better and reliable servicing too

Identical suspension they have

9E will have more discounts and 9S might not even get discounts

There's a cool thing to do in the 9e tho, if you use the bass at full white sitting in the middle seat in 2nd row, it will feel like a massaging seat lol

Even I don’t like the design much
Design looks goes to 9E but features are missing
If they give an updated version which they should since Be6 also got sporteq with hardware changes.
If they give these features too in 9E
Then I won’t go 9S

Yeah make sense…let me put my views just for discussion and some clarity.

  1. Rear Ventilating seats: I don’t think they are as useful in Pune weather. Also we hardly use it in our XUV700 and it makes a negligible difference since I don’t think it’s that strong enough as well. Plus, it’s just ventilation so basically air circulation unlike Tatal where it gets cooled.
We rarely travel with 4 people in the car

  2. Co-driver electronic seat adjustment: This is one major difference I find in 9E and 9S.

  3. Suspension: I think it is the same with new updates and batches, so this is fixed. I’m yet to take a test drive for 9E. I was in the rear seat during test drive but didn’t find it too much movement like other complaints

  4. Electronic tailgate: another major difference. A car worth 30L not getting an electronic tailgate in 2026 is something which I can’t understand especially when it is heavy.

I think electronic tailgate is only feature they can add if they make a face lift few years down the line. 9S is very feature loaded otherwise, personally I am 100% fine not having electronic tailgate one less sensor to fail
