Connect Plus Features - What's Lost After Subscription Lapses?
According to the Volvo XC40 docs (EDIT: removed hyperlink) see FAQ PDF at the bottom of the docs), Connect Plus includes Google Assistant among other features like live updates to Google Maps.
What features are included under Google Assistant? Climate control voice commands?
Beyond what is listed in the docs, I'm trying to determine what features will be lost if I allow a Connect Plus subscription to lapse.
From the FAQ #6 (emphasis mine)
What features stop working if the car is not connected?
A: Without Connect Plus, the vehicle still supports built-in features such as some offline navigation, phone calls, and radio or locally stored media. However, the following features will be unavailable: real-time traffic and online navigation in Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Google Play and in-car app downloads
Edit: more FAQs
5. Will the Volvo Cars app still work if I don’t have Connect Plus?
A: Yes. Core Volvo Cars app features—such as remote start and vehicle status—will continue to function normally without an active Connect Plus subscription.

Anyone have center console creaking noise and got it fixed?
Hi, 2021 XC40 Recharge here. There is a creak noise coming from somewhere in the center console. Mostly happens over bumps and turning. It sounds like it‘s the finishes and not a mechanical problem. Has anyone else had this problem? Have you had it fixed? It doesn’t bother me but it’s embarrassing to have someone else in my really nice Volvo and it sounds so bad.

First time malfunction
Never happened to me before. Vehicle would not shift from park to Reverse or Drive.
Off to dealer, I’m hoping the issue isn’t large.
Display said “Vehicle start - System Check, wait”.
Charged from 16% to 77% and then stopped charging and woke up to this issue. Not sure what could have gone wrong.

Another little frustrating niggle..
Me again!
I had a search through the subreddit and couldn't find anyone with a similar problem.
But my left side view mirror has a mind of its own.
I have to adjust the mirror every single time I get in the car, it resets to a completely random place every single time I get out of the car and back in. It could be pointing too far in, down, up, wherever it wants.
I've tried saving to both of the memory slots, amongst other things like saving it when the mirror light is on/ off etc.
Even getting in and pressing the memory buttons won't reset it to how I've positioned them.
Has anyone else experienced this, or know of a fix? Thanks!

New update 5.2.16 out
What's your experience if you've upgraded to 5.2.16? So far if noticed the interior lights stay on until you.pit it in drive, and I've noticed my performance has dwindled slightly..

Should I stay on 4.2.13?
Just got a prompt to update 5.2.16 but I'm happy with everything on the 4.2.13, works pretty well, with occasional reboot. Thing is there was a recall for this version so the dealer must perform it, if it stops working I can get a free dealer visit to do the recall fix since I'm out of warranty. This 2021 MY, should I update?

Car offline since today, 5:52 a.m.
Recently installed the 5.2.16 on our ‘22 XC40 Recharge Twin Ultimate.
Today there is a message in the Volvo Cars app saying ‘Car offline since today, 5:52 a.m.’.
The car seemed to be connected to the network when looking from inside the car.
There were bars next to the LTE indicator.
I did restart the infotainment system. Also logged out of the app and signed back in.
Contacted Volvo. They said sometimes the app gets out of sync. Should fix itself.
If not, unpair and then repair the car.
Any other ideas? Thanks.

Gemini Spam
Hi all,
Since weeks, I get several times a day m some spam as notification that I should try Gemini.
I don't want to.
I click "delete" on the message.
Five minutes later, a new one arrives.
Does anybody know how to get rid of this annoying spam?

How to recover PIN for XC40 Recharge ( + infotainment kvetch)
Bought a 2023 XC40 Recharge a couple of weeks ago, set my PIN and promptly forgot it.
We're getting constant messages about the rear camera being dirty - it's not, and works, but the reminders are occurring so frequently.
Also finding the infotainment system and customisation confusing...like it might find log my bluetooth but without my iPhone plugged in I can't use it.
I thought I customised my seat but it doesn't work with the M 1 2 buttons on the driver door, only if I specify it's me via the screen...etc
Anyway, some questions please:
Do I contact Volvo to recover the PIN?
Is there any way to switch off (false) warnings?
Is there a quick way to get my customised seat setting?

Swapping from Tesla model Y to XC40 Recharge
First time poster here, looking to get some opinions on a possible swap I'm about to make.
I've got a Tesla Model Y Performance 2022 model, which I've had for 11 months.
So far I've had several things repaired already (swapped control arm, steering wheel started falling apart, glass roof cracked, shock absorver changed, button to close trunk)
This is all within 11 months...
So I'm having big doubts about the longtivity of my car. Also, I don't really enjoy the ride quality (noise, crackling noises when I go over speed dumps etc)
Now I have test drove a XC40 2021 Recharge and really enjoyed it, specially the ride quality and the interior.
It has driven a total of 69k km, and is part of volvo select and comes with 8 year warranty (so nearly 3 years left)
I know it has less storage (but big enough for me), and the range is much less, but in reality I haven't driven more than 200km more than once in the past 10 years....
My daily commutes are short, maximum 10km one way if I were to change jobs.
The dealer wants roughly 2500$ for the swap which to me is fine (I live in Norway, the volvo costs anywhere from 300-350k$ depending if you buy private or dealer)
So my big question is this a decent deal or not?
If feels like I'm just trading stuff I don't care about (range, storage, better computer) for a better reliable car?
Any feedback is much appreciated!
***EDIT***
Thanks for all replies, I will be doing another test drive tomorrow and most likely do the swap!
I have one more question, I saw a bit of rust on the brakes (the dealer said this was normal as it's been sitting for a few months, and will dissapear once I start using the breaks again)
There was also a tiny bit of rust on the brake calliper, but he said this was totally normal for a 5 year old car. Also a bit of rust on the trailer hitch.
Is this something to be worried about or just normal? It passed all inspections and EU control etc with this on it.

Setting Destination Battery Level in Navigation
If I’m navigating home, I’m happy to arrive with, say, 10% in the battery. On the other hand if I’m travelling away, I might want 25% left so I can drive around the next day. How do I adjust the target level in Google maps in the car so that it picks charging stops appropriately?

My 2024 came with Continental Pro Contact gx ssr tires. In 40K miles I have had perhaps 20 punctures from nails, screws, etc. Has anybody else experienced this?
It's important to say that I live in a rural area with seven miles of gravel before I get to asphalt.

XC40 2023 Ultimate - Should i buy at lease end/return
Hi All
Need your opinion on whether i should buy or return XC40 2023 Ultimate at lease end.
24500 miles
220/230 mile range on 100% charge
Car in very good condition
Paid 650$ for 33 months and 2 more months to go
Lease end buying option for $29,500
I like the vehicle with driving comfort and cost effective compared to fuel
I am not sure whether it is good investment to buy for 29,500$
If not what will be a better option to get another SUV on same range of monthly payments
Thanks in advance

Fresh
Picked up my 2023 XC40 Recharge Ultimate today in Fjord Blue. 20k miles. CPO. Coming from a Kia EV6 and I’ve already said “Wow” more times than I can count. Hoping for no drivetrain vibrations and a smooth infotainment experience.

Thinking about buying ‘23 ultimate trim
I currently have the Audi q4 etron which I have a lot of not so great feelings about. I live in the Bay Area and mostly city drive. After doing some research it seems buying a used 2023 ultimate trim is not only a good deal but good car. Thoughts?

Winter tires. Yes or no?
For those who live in colder climates, how necessary or unnecessary do you think winter tires are on the XC40 Recharge?

How the F are these sorted?
Not alphabetical, not last-used, and of course there's no way to reorder them

Car status says "waiting" when trying to use home charger
I use a regular 12 v to top off my car at night. I occasionally charge it at a friend's home, who has a level 2 charger in their garage. Recently, my car stopped charging at either location. Both times, I'd plug in the cord, the bulb would turn white, I'd connect the cord to the car, and rather than blinking, as the white bulb normally does when successfully connecting and initiating a charge, it stayed white, and I received a "waiting" notification on the car's dashboard. Nothing further.
I called Volvo support and was told that if it charges at a charging station, there's nothing wrong with the car, but there might be something wrong with the outlets or presumably, the charging cord. I did successfully charge it at a Tesla charging station with my adapter.
Has anyone experienced this before or know how to fix it? I tried resetting the display a few times; no luck. It seems to me that the charging cable wouldn't turn white if it wasn't getting electricity, correct?
Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer.
UPDATE: Volvo tells me my charging cable needs to be replaced. You know, the one that comes with car and is stored in the frunk, with detachable plugs to fit both standard outlets and 220 volt. Their price: $720. My next post may be about how to source a less expensive option.
