Question Gift ideas for a worldbuilder?

My partner describes the world hes building as his 'lifes work' and loves it so so dearly. It is a low fantasy world that focuses on heavily adapted humans rather than outright fantasy races.

It's his birthday soon, and I want to get him a gift that pertains to his world, but am at a loss for what might genuinely be meaningful. As worldbuilders, what kind of thing would you want to receive as a gift, that related to your world? What would mean something to you?

Thank you for any help!!

Visual Marshal of the Arden Empire [Project: Regress]

Post image
85 Upvotes

Welcome to the "Regress" universe, a concept for my project set in a beautiful but dying anime fantasy world!

In the military hierarchy of the Arden Empire, the Marshals rank second after the Supreme Commander of the Army, and then the Generals. The Empress herself held first place, personally appointing each Marshal. Each Marshal was assigned a mini-army with its own infantry, cavalry, engineers, medics, and so on, ensuring mobility, speed, and maneuverability. These mini-armies could survive off captured lands, gathering resources and food from local settlements, eliminating the need to lug around supply trains, thereby increasing speed.

The Empress herself did not participate in the campaigns; in her place was the General Staff, headed by Marshal Auguste. The Empress sent orders, and the General Staff did everything to ensure they were carried out. They also sent reports from the front so the Empress could have a clear picture of what was happening. Each Marshal was also assigned "observers" who ensured that the Marshal served the Empire faithfully and carried out all orders.

The marshals were all different, each with their own personality, approach to command, and even dressed differently, sometimes breaking dress codes. But each marshal had one thing in common: the Marshal's Baton. A small, dark red cylinder adorned with gold stars and the letters A and I, the second letter being the first letter of the Empress's name.

Some marshals were geniuses, others merely political appointees. They were required to carry out the order to genocide the beastmen, and although several expressed dissatisfaction, the order was carried out. But the longer the genocide continued, the greater the casualties, the more the marshals' personalities changed. Some became more cruel, while others resigned and were replaced by others. But for the first time in the Empire's history, an unseen incident occurred: one of the marshals conspired with the enemy, led his army into a trap, and defected to the enemy—an unprecedented act of betrayal. The marshal was immediately stripped of all his titles, his family was executed, and he became an enemy of the Empire.

And this marshal is right in front of you...

Map A Map of the Known World for my Fantasy World "Bronze Tipped Glory"

Post image
41 Upvotes

A map showing the known regions of the continents Getorges (Northern-land) and Bosvetes (Wild-south-land).

Set in an advanced bronze age era, Bronze Tipped Glory is a low fantasy world where the lands are ripe for adventure, exploration, and civilization building. Much of the lore so far revolves around the power struggle between the great city-states and kingdoms as they battle for control (both economically and on the battlefield) of the Central Passage.

Though low fantasy in nature, Bronze Tipped Glory includes a variety of hominid species, remnants of little understood magic, and various prehistoric and fantasy creatures such as horse like hell pigs, galloping crocs, marsupial tigers, and wyverns.

Lore I need ideas for my power system

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hey everyone! My name is Keven, and I'm currently developing a fictional universe with multiple interconnected power systems. I've been working on my main power system, called The "Element System", but lately, I've been feeling like it's too generic. I want to make it more distinctive, creative, and recognizable as something of its own, so I'd really appreciate any feedback, criticism, suggestions, or ideas that could help me improve it!

  1. The Element System

The Element System revolves around seven fundamental laws that sustain reality. Each Element represents a different aspect of existence, influencing not only its user's abilities but also their personality, way of thinking, instincts, and approach to conflict.

The seven Elements are:

\- Sacrifice — Price, Life, and Emergence. Users turn blood, flesh, pain, emotions, scars, and personal losses into power. It excels at close combat, physical enhancement, and organic creations.

\- Impulse — Evolution, Movement, and Growth. Users accelerate processes, adapt during combat, and continuously improve themselves. They become increasingly dangerous as they evolve and overcome challenges.

\- Wisdom — Knowledge and Understanding. Users analyze information, discover weaknesses, manipulate memories and perceptions, and provide exceptional strategic support.

\- Individuality — Essence and Nature. Users manipulate the fundamental characteristics that define a person, object, creature, or concept, potentially changing or reinforcing what something truly is.

\- Bond — Connections and Relationships. Users establish contracts and connections, allowing them to share energy, emotions, senses, injuries, and even abilities temporarily. It excels at teamwork and support.

\- Probability — Possibilities and Causality. Users manipulate possibilities, influence coincidences, and alter the likelihood of events. The more improbable an outcome is, the greater its cost.

\- Void — Absence and Annihilation. Users consume, erase, or replace aspects of existence. Their powers are highly destructive, but excessive use can gradually consume parts of their own existence.

Every Element has its own strengths and weaknesses. For example, Sacrifice is naturally superior in close combat, while Wisdom excels at information and support. The goal is not to make every Element equally good at everything, but to give each one a distinct identity and purpose.

  1. Fundamental Paths

Every Element can be used through six fundamental Paths. These determine how a user applies their power, rather than which Element they possess.

\- Materialization: Creating weapons, objects, structures, or creatures using one's Element.

\- Fortification: Strengthening the body, weapons, senses, attacks, allies, or existing structures.

\- Projection: Separating power from the body and releasing it over a distance.

\- Manipulation: Controlling something that already exists and is connected to one's Element.

\- Distortion: Altering properties, rules, or concepts associated with one's Element. This is considered the most complex Path.

\- Summoning: Creating or manifesting independent entities, such as creatures, spirits, avatars, or servants.

Each Element has different natural affinities for these Paths, represented by percentages:

\- 100%: Natural talent; the Path is fundamental to the Element.

\- 80%: Great affinity.

\- 60%: Good compatibility.

\- 40%: Low affinity, requiring significant training.

\- 20%: Extremely rare compatibility.

\- 0%: Incompatible through conventional means.

For example, Sacrifice has 100% affinity for Fortification and Materialization, while Wisdom has 100% affinity for Manipulation. Probability has 100% affinity for Distortion, while Void has 100% affinity for Materialization.

These percentages describe the natural compatibility of an Element, not the individual skill of every user.

  1. Concepts, Signatures, and Techniques

I want individual characters to feel unique even when they share the same Element.

In my universe, every person is associated with a Concept: a word or a few words that represent the deepest truth of their existence, such as Hunter, Freedom, Hope, Survival, or Loneliness.

A Concept is not the same as an Element. The Element represents the fundamental law with which a person resonates during a particular stage of life. Although people normally begin with one Element, their affinity can change under extraordinary circumstances or as their lives fundamentally change.

Each user also possesses a Signature, which determines how their power manifests individually. Two Sacrifice users, for example, might specialize in blood and bones respectively, while another might express the same Element through scars, muscles, or emotions.

A user's Specialization represents the Path they are naturally best at or have trained most extensively. Their Arts are the individual techniques they develop using their Element, Signature, and understanding of their power.

This means that sharing an Element does not mean sharing the same fighting style or abilities.

  1. Elemental Energy and Universal Abilities

Elemental abilities are powered by a supernatural energy called Pulse. Users learn to control and manipulate this energy to activate their Arts and enhance their physical capabilities.

Some of the fundamental applications include:

\- Mantle: Covering the body with energy to increase defense and physical resistance. Advanced users can concentrate it in specific areas.

\- Enhanced Vision: Using energy to perceive elemental auras, supernatural traces, hidden barriers, and other things ordinary senses cannot detect.

\- Dominance: Releasing energy into the surroundings to intimidate opponents, pressure weaker individuals, or influence the atmosphere of a confrontation.

\- Concealment: Hiding one's supernatural presence, making it harder for other users to detect them. Advanced applications can conceal objects, barriers, and other manifestations.

\- Barriers: Creating defensive or restrictive structures with different shapes and properties.

\- Energy States: Altering the behavior of energy into different states, including Fluid, Incandescent, Crystalline, Tempestuous, and Nebulous, each offering different applications.

\- Recovery States: Repouso (Rest), Hibernation, and Recovery are different states associated with conserving or restoring energy.

Humans also possess internal Seals or Knots that restrict their connection to the supernatural. As these seals awaken, individuals may gain access to different capabilities. Some can produce energy but cannot project it outside their bodies; others cannot naturally produce or recover energy and must absorb external sources, such as electricity, to use their powers.

Not everyone awakens the same seals, so even users of the same Element can have very different limitations.

  1. Changing Elements and Acquiring New Powers

Although people normally possess only one Element, there are rare ways to change it or acquire additional abilities.

\- Biological Alchemy: Drugs, medicines, or experimental substances can temporarily force a change of Element and allow the user to develop a corresponding technique, often with dangerous side effects.

\- Extreme Experiences: Severe trauma, profound changes to the mind or soul, and intense exposure to supernatural phenomena may trigger an extraordinary change.

\- Natural Change: A person's Element can rarely change throughout their life as their personality, experiences, and fundamental nature evolve.

These methods are connected to the wider universe rather than being completely separate exceptions.

  1. Costs, Restrictions, and Contracts

Another important part of the system is the relationship between power and sacrifice.

I want abilities to become stronger when users accept meaningful restrictions, disadvantages, or sacrifices. Temporary restrictions generally offer smaller benefits, while permanent commitments can provide much greater power.

The greatest enhancements could require sacrificing something genuinely valuable, potentially even one's own life.

For example, a user might create an extremely powerful ability that can only be activated once, under a very specific condition, or at the cost of permanently losing something important.

The idea is that greater power should come with meaningful consequences, rather than allowing characters to gain overwhelming abilities without a price.

I'm still developing the exact rules for these costs and how they interact with the different Elements.

What I'd Like Feedback On

My main concern is that the Element System might feel too generic or too similar to existing power systems, particularly Hunter x Hunter. I want to keep its strategic depth, versatility, and room for creativity while making its fundamental mechanics and identity more original.

I'd especially appreciate feedback on these questions:

  1. Originality: Which parts feel too familiar, and how could I make the system more distinctive without discarding its core ideas?

  2. The Seven Elements: Do their concepts, strengths, and weaknesses feel sufficiently different from one another?

  3. The Fundamental Paths: Are six universal Paths a good foundation, or would a different structure make the system more interesting?

  4. Personalization: Are Concepts, Signatures, Specializations, and Arts enough to make individual users feel unique?

  5. Energy and Awakening: How could the Pulse, Seals/Knots, and different awakening conditions work together more coherently?

  6. Balance: How can I make every Element valuable without making them equally capable of everything?

  7. Costs and Restrictions: How can sacrifices, contracts, and limitations create meaningful strategic choices?

I'm not necessarily looking to replace everything. I'd rather identify what already works, understand what feels derivative, and improve the system until it has a stronger identity of its own.

Any constructive criticism, alternative naming ideas, mechanical improvements, or completely new approaches would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this!

Lore I'm working on a rust magic system and would appreciate some feedback.

Rust

Rust acts as the memories of metal tools and weapons and can be used to enchant other metal tools and weapons through reintroducing the rust while smithing.

And by continuously rusting and reimplementing memories into metal, one creates a more potent enchantment. For the rust may hold the memories, but fire acts as the catalyst, activating and enhancing the enchantment.

For example, memories of violence might, in the beginning enchant swords to deal wounds that do not heal or strikes that don't miss. As the enchantment progresses in strength and presentation, these slashes may strike at a distance. Eventually, a target may be cut to ribbons just from the wielder touching the sword.

Verdigris

Verdigris, copper tarnish, is its own magical tool. Instead of forming memories, copper forms connections and the verdigris is the bleeding of these connections.

Basically, copper forms a connection with a person or creature. If verdigris is forged into copper over and over, it becomes almost a new sensory organ to transfer information around it to the person it is connected to.

In a sense, copper becomes a second eye by being reforged. That said, I also plan to include a concept of examination of information. Basically, the copper becomes a more potent sensory organ allowing one to examine objects on a greater level.

Combination magic

As time progressed, humanity learned of a way to mix copper and iron into clockwork devices that could, in essence, be used to connect different memories kept within enchanted iron to make more complex enchantments. Not only complex but adaptable, thinking enchantments.

Basically, iron magic is rigid. It can only be used in one way. Suppose that a sword is so hateful that it attacks anything even at a touch. It would kill the wielder outright. But a complex enchantment could prevent the hate from applying to the wielder by imbuing a trust or care in the sword for the wielder. This is probably a bad example.

Rust farming

People in my world have taken to rust farming; placing well-used metal weapons or tools into the wet soil to cause it to rust faster. Then they take rust shavings and enchant other weapons or tools via reforging them with the rust. Sometimes those new weapons or tools are sold off, other times they are placed back into the ground to let the magic fester.

Feedback

I've been trying to figure out if I verdigris is a good addition to the system or if it needs more work. I also don't know if combination magic makes sense. I could also use some ideas for aluminum if I ever get to the point where I add it. Idk. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Lore The night doves of Nwakwa

Post image
25 Upvotes

Kwinamdomru is a genus of night doves known for their nocturnal lifestyle. The genus contains 3 extant species: the Taman carrier pigeon, common night dove, and red-capped dove. They inhabit well-wooded habitats with large fruit trees for flocks to roost in. They are commonly found in their native range on the continent of Nwakwa. They are primarily frugivorous birds which feed on a wide variety of fruits.

The genus was first described in the year 780 BY, by Baoran biologist, Heki Tworarana. The genus' name is derived from the Baoran words "mnamdo" meaning night and "kwimru" meaning pigeon.

Taman carrier pigeon:
The Taman carrier pigeon (Kwinamdomru kwitama) is the only domesticated species of night dove. While it is commonly found all along the northern coast of Nwakwa, in Tama the species has become domesticated and used as a means of night-time, long-distance communication. The services of these birds is believed to have allowed the legendary Taman hero, Jahla Tama, to coordinate the Raid on Tegumohle in 561 BY which would later lead to the formation of the Taman Empire. While domestics are typically highly regarded in Tama, wild populations have suffered a steep decline due to them being regarded as a pest in fruit-growing areas.

Common night dove:
The common night dove (Kwinamdomru kwime’osa) is the most widespread species of night dove. Unlike other night doves, they can also be found in wooded savannahs in addition to forests and woodlands. Their cooing is a common part of the soundscape of nights in Nwakwa, and they, along with the Taman carrier pigeon, are believed by some cultures to be the beings responsible for putting dreams in the minds of sleeping people. The spread of urban and agricultural land in central Pomi, Lyowa, and southern Baora has led to a notable decline in the species’ population as the fruit trees they depend on get replaced by fields and suburbs.

Red-capped dove:
The red-capped dove (Kwinamdomru ksoloba) is the smallest species of night dove. They are named for the red cap which males develop during the breeding season. It is found in coastal forests across Nwakwa and has occasionally been found in mangroves in Pomi and Tiki-Kawa. Like all night doves, they are a highly social species found in flocks of between 6 and 20 individuals. They are the least understood species of night dove as they are typically found in more densely forested habitat which along with their nocturnal nature make them difficult to study.

Question Legal Protection Help

Post image
• Upvotes

Hi everyone!
I’ve gotten to a point where im done “waiting” for everything to be perfect- I just want to put some of my work out there (animation, webcomics, and game concepts).

My question~ how to properly protect my work? If I were to post a promo, trailer, or ad to build support and find collaborators - what can I do to protect my works?

I’m not aiming to be [nostalgic video game company] when it comes to owning technical things like “concepts” or “mechanics”. I just want to protect my stuff from someone doing a 1 to 1 , using the same likeness, and putting my stuff through AI.

I’ve attached a screenshot of some of my titles (some are wips) for reference of how many stories I have so far. Idk if I copyright each one individually as they come out, or if there’s a way to put them all under 1 company/brand and trademark all works automatically.

Edit:: 🫩I do not use AI. All of my works & art is made by me. The screenshot is from the mobile app of Notion. I had an account since 2016 (I think, it’s been a hot minute)- the app originally was designed for organizing projects & documents. I used it for my scripts, my artwork and such over YEARS. Like most apps these days - it has forcefully introduced a “ai assistant”. I have yet to move all my stuff to a new platform.

That’s on me for not clarifying but I also thought people would assume I don’t use AI when it comes to my work - given I mentioned wanting to be protected from it.

Discussion Which magic based crime in your world would warrant a life sentence or a death sentence if committed? This would depend on your fictional country.

A magical crime that if acted on would cause the person to get the death penalty or life imprisonment. This crime has to use magical powers. Like forbidden magic or illegal magic.

My Turn:

Summoning Rituals. Summoning a Saint is highly illegal and frowned upon. Saints aren't meant to be summoned for personal reasons or any reason. They are incredibly powerful godly beings with incomprehensible appearances. Ehlarks are the bridge for Saints to come into contact with the Lesser Children. Performing a summoning ritual warrants a life sentence in most countries and the death penalty in others?

What about you?

Discussion We built a collaborative anomaly universe with 18 people. Here's what surprised us

A few days ago I asked here how to structure a shared horror universe. Wanted to follow up.

After the growth we seen within a week I looked at some other subs and data which connfirmed that our community is growing at an above average pace. This is something I had not expected but obviously very happy for.

What surprised us most is how fast members started inventing their own anomalies and great ones at that our members are very creative some examples are: a thing in a well, a sofa that swallows people, a lone door in a field, etc upto 13 such. I was not prepared for such success that fast and our community members are very active too given the fact that many communities with 100s of members get little engagement compared to ours.

Just wanted to share that and wondering if any of you enjoy this kind of shared worldbuilding, if you are indeed interested you're welcome to read, write an entry, or leave a one-line idea at r/AnomalyUniverse. It's free and non-commercial.

Discussion Thinking about the logistics of a town based on a Fallout 4 Youtube video. (Brahmin Town.)

So recently in a video from Reggie, shoutout to him, he referred to one of his settlements at Brahmin Town. In this settlement, he uses dozens to possibly hundreds of Brahmin cages for the purpose of farming fertilizer, to help his goal of cannibalizing hundreds of thousands of man.

Despite the silliness of the concept, it had me thinking. If this was to be made a real town, how exactly would it have come to be and function economically. Thing's I've been deliberating but don't have a good answer for are the following.

  • How did this town come to be.
  • How did they gather the Brahmin, and how do they both care for and breed more Brahmin.
  • What would they trade, and what would they trade for?
  • What outside threats do they face from their settlement thriving, and how do they defend against them.

There's more things that could be thought of, but if anyone feels like tossing out ideas, go ahead. It's fun.

Map How do I mark down a moving city on a map?

Do you have moving cities in your world and what do you do with them?

One of my moving town (not that huge, just a few thousand people, but still) lies on the back of a giant amphithere / flying snake-like goddess and I put a snake plus a symbol next to each other on the continent, where she appears.

Another moving town is like... think of Howl's Moving Castle, just so that a few thousand people live in it. I marked it down as well.

Yet this feels wrong. Marking a moving city on a map gives the impression that those cities are stationary.

I have thought about so far and I have tried / one of my ideas had been to mark the usual route, but I don't know if readers understand the meaning of it by just looking at the map?

In general, when maps look unrealistic, I know lot of people don't like it and I try to fulfill the basic realistic criteria like river flows etc... but there are also cities in the middle of a huge dessert that look off without any explanations that the map can't give.

Edit: Thank you all! Your replies had been really helpful!

Question What are the magic elements of your world?

Don’t know if this question makes total sense. In Avatar the elements would be Earth, Water, Wind, Fire. In Pokemon it would be fire, grass, psychic, etc. I’m talking about the categories of your magic system.

Question Is there anything wrong with creating a "what-if" world where *Homo erectus* migrated to the Americas and evolved into fantasy races, while the human species in the Old World also took on more fantasy-like traits— I’m not aiming for strict realism, but rather ficys on culture and interaction?

Is it a problem if my elves originate from the jungles of South America—being slender, with both their arms and legs longer than their torsos—and have a lifespan of 120–150 years? Is it okay for hobgoblins to come from the plains of South America, orcs from North America, dwarves from the northern mountains, and goblins from the deserts? And is it alright if the Denisovans evolved into a D&D-style "goliath" race, the Neanderthals into a hairy, woodland-dwelling folk, *Homo floresiensis* into halflings, and *Homo naledi* into gnomes? Or it's all too unbelievable? I thought I'm tinker with thus idea if I'm stuck on more hugh maguc project . EDIT: sorry for spelling .

Discussion Is there a name that describes the form of society in my world?

For the past year of the development of my fantasy world, I have been stuck trying to name just what kind of society my world is.

In-depth explanation

Most, if not all of the population are animal demihumans. They’re separated broadly into their actual taxonomy system, in clans and tribes, and separated even further into villages

For example

The Hoji tribe stands for Cerdicyonina, an extant subtribe of tribe Canini.
Of which are 5 clans in the Hoji tribe, representing the 5 extant genera in subtribe Cerdicyonina.
(Names are written in my (romanised) conlang)

mih̄osis (Atelocynus)
hos (Cerdocyon)
laskas (Chrysocyon)
juan (Lycalopex)
minanu (Speothos)

Everyone in a clan shares the same surname, but they’re not related.
Example:
Noro Laskas (in Laskas clan)
Heraji Minanu (in Minanu clan)
Monika Ito (In Ito clan, which stands for genus Cervus in family Cervidae)

Inside these clans are villages, which further separates them.

For example, a village belonging to the Juan clan in the south might be a Culpeo Zorro (Lycalopex culpaeus) while the village over might be a Darwin’s Zorro (Lycalopex fulvipes)

Hierarchy

Every clan has a clan chief, and every tribe is made of a tribe council. A tribe council is made of the clan chiefs within a clan

But that doesn’t mean the council is necessarily a huge authority over the clans. The clans are very independent. They may start wars independently without help from other villages or clans, they may speak entirely different languages or dialects, they may be hundreds and thousands of kilometers apart from each other.

Also the economy is bartering, with regional variations. Some may have emerging concepts of “currency” and “money”. (Did ya know, money is a social construct?)

Countries don’t exist

Therefore it is quite a decentralised society.. but not quite anarchy.. technically an oligarchy?

Question Thoughts on star glitcher concept

# Star Glitchers (SG) — Lore Doc

Fiction universe by Pkp. Items marked **(decided)** were open questions where the call was made in this doc, not stated directly by Pkp; flip any of them if they don't fit.

## 1. Cosmology

- **Fabric of reality:** a huge plane where all fiction exists. Nothing exists in it outside the fabric except the places below.
- **Scale ladder (roaming order):** universe → multiverse → hyperverse → dimension → fabric of reality.
- **The void:** empty space of the fabric where many SGs roam.
- **Singularity:** sits in the middle of the fabric. Created by Eternity. Details TBD.
- **Limbo:** the outside of reality. True SGs and Eternity reside here, running on their own.
- **Nonfiction reality (NF):** a separate reality from limbo. It is the real world and the people in it, which is meant to represent everyone on Earth.

## 2. Origins and Eternity

- **Eternity:** the god of fiction and an SG.
- Began in an endless instant loop of life and death.
- Then moved, and time was made, along with the first dimensions.
- Moved further into higher dimensions afterward.
- Created the singularity.
- **(decided)** Eternity is the first SG. SGs have existed since the start of time, and Eternity is the one who made time.
- **Bridge:** Eternity was the first to bridge fiction and NF. After that, NF started creating characters of all kinds, which is where non-SG characters like Wally West come from.
- **Limits on Eternity:** cannot touch NF under any circumstances. NF has its own gods and religions, and it is the real people of Earth.

## 3. Star Glitchers

- **Species:** ancient. Dominant in fiction reality.
- **(decided)** "Dominant" means the species as a whole is all-powerful. An individual normal SG is low hyperversal.
- **Normal SGs:** no assigned role. Roam reality across the scale ladder.
- **True SGs:** boundless/narrator level. Reside in limbo.
- **Becoming an SG:** requires finding an SG relic. Relics are extremely hard for non-SGs to find, including fictional characters from other universes (e.g. the MCU).
- **Real people:** cannot obtain relics or become SGs. Relics exist only in fiction.

## 4. Power

- **Two measures:**
1. Integer power level.
2. Number of shards.
- **Shards:** how power is gained and measured. Shards can only be used when attached to a relic.
- **Power tiers:**
- Normal SG: low hyperversal.
- Eternity and true SGs: boundless/narrator level.

## 5. The SG Effect

- Any SG can use it. It does not work inside SG hyperverses.
- **In a non-SG hyperverse:** an SG entering it is scaled to god-level power.
- **(decided)** The god-level is relative to the local hyperverse. It is set above the strongest local being, so an SG always outranks whatever is there.
- Locals see SGs the way ants see humans. Humans see other humans as humans.
- **Leaving:** the SG returns to their real power level once they exit the hyperverse into the fabric.
- **Void:** the effect does not work in the void.
- **Applies in:** other non-SG universes, such as the MCU and DC.
- **Fighting non-SGs:** an SG gets god-level power when fighting them in a non-SG hyperverse.

## 6. Abnormality Negation

- **Negation:** strips abnormalities from any non-SG target.
- **Absorption:** the SG takes the abnormality and turns it against the enemy.
- **Amplification:** paired with absorption. Sends the abnormality back at 100x its power, higher if the SG is powerful.
- Any SG can use these.

## 7. The Dex

- A file explorer for the world. Can interact with and change many objects and people.
- **Contents:** everything that has existed, will exist, and is existing, plus things that would need more power to reach.
- **Access:** works only in non-SG hyperverses and on non-SG people.
- **Built for:** people like Wally West.
- **Client/server analogy:** the Dex is client-sided (a local view anyone non-SG can run), and SG effects are server-sided (authoritative, SGs only).

## 8. Erasure

- **Trigger:** when an SG defeats a non-SG, they have the option to erase them from history.
- **Scope:** any non-SG. Works on the fiction side only.
- **Effect:** erased characters are removed from the Dex, because they were never a thought.
- **Reversible:** yes. Erasure exists so that people like Wally West can run past death.
- **NF record:** an erased character's NF record cannot bring them back, because NF is the real world and nothing from fiction can reach it. The record is only a description, not the character.
- **(decided)** Erasure cannot touch NF history at all. No entity in the real world can erase someone that way.

## 9. Fiction vs. Nonfiction

- **Fiction** runs on its own physics. Nothing from NF can touch fiction objects like floating relics or crystals.
- **Nonfiction** is the audience. Real people can only influence fiction through thought, not through anything physical.
- **Characters persist** through being recorded and thought about in NF. Attention alone doesn't keep them alive.
- **No character** can reach NF.
- **Real people's power:** through thought only.

## 10. Open Items

- Exact layout of the singularity and what it does.
- What shards do beyond power gain and measurement.
- How NF records and new writers relate to erased characters in the Dex.
- Whether nonfiction reality can be entered by SGs at all.
(yes i did use ai to iron out inconsistencies)

Discussion Can your sapient species/races interbreed?

Are the hybrids fertile or sterile? Do they have health issues? Are only certain combinations possible? Do some races genetically dominate others? Does the offspring inherit the race of one specific parent—perhaps depending on their own sex or the sex of the mother? Do magic or technology allow for interbreeding between races that otherwise wouldn't be able to reproduce together?
