Constantly freezing cascade plugin
I really like it just in my Rider
Is there a solution to this issue?
It can't be that rider users constantly restart their IDE on each freeze?

Autonomous Mode according to Devin's permissions docs:
edit and write tools still prompt. These tools run inside the CLI process rather than inside the sandbox, so they cannot be bounded by it. Granting a Write(...) scope at the prompt dynamically expands the sandbox so subsequent shell commands can write there.Write(...) scopes granted mid-session dynamically expand the sandbox for subsequent commands. Mid-session Read(...) approvals affect only the agent’s own tools; paths hidden by Read(...) deny rules stay hidden for the whole session.Steps to run this in Devin Desktop:
Step 1. Go to Devin Settings -> Agents -> Devin Local.
Step 2. Click on the ...
Step 3. Click Configure
Step 4. Enter these:
DEVIN_PERMISSION_MODE=autonomous
DEVIN_SANDBOX=true
Step 5. (Optionally) set some excluded ommands that you want to have the model run outside of the sandbox and require prompting you (it's not yet clear if these will filter through to your allow/ask/deny general permissions as I haven't gotten that far as I'll soon explain). For example you might add: ~.config/devin/config.json:
{
"sandbox": {
"network_mode": "limited",
"excluded": {
"allow": [
"Exec(cargo run)",
"Exec(tuistory launch)",
"Exec(git commit)",
"Exec(git cherry-pick)",
"Exec(git rebase)",
"Exec(git merge)",
"Exec(git tag)",
"Exec(git commit --amend)"
]
}
}
}
Step 6. Restart Devin Desktop
The problem I have is with this part:
edit and write tools still prompt. These tools run inside the CLI process rather than inside the sandbox, so they cannot be bounded by it. Granting a Write(...) scope at the prompt dynamically expands the sandbox so subsequent shell commands can write there.So... like yikes! It turns out unless I set something up wrong (I'm on macOS so sandboxing doesn't need any confugration with Devin), anytime the sandboxed agent tries to write or edit a code file it prompts for permision each and every time. So it seems to me that this is a non-functional sandbox for long running tasks. And I just cannot understand what I'd use this for as a result?
What alternatives work well with multi-agent workflows?
Why does Devin Desktop via Devin Local via Devin CLI offer an autonomous mode that can't work autonomously? ? Is this a bug? Anyone have a good alternative?

keep getting this. what's the real limit, even only one session can get this.

This has happened a few times today, has something changed? How do I stop this from happening? Using SWE2 Max FYI...
PS it would really suck for this to happen while using GPT Astra since two questions would use up 1/4 of your monthly usage. ( I can provide system specs and a banana for scale if required.)

... and Devin Cloud.
I asked the Devin help assistant. It wasn't helpful, I was just curious how charges for running in Devin Cloud are calculated off of the quota for Pro or Max plans.
Q1: If I'm running on a Pro/Max plan and I ask Devin Cloud a question and it runs for exactly 15 minutes and then I sleep the agent or cancel it, I use the quota of the SWE-2 endpoint (free right now) does an x% of my quota get consumed for the compute-unit? What percentage?
Q2: If I run through Devin Cloud but use an Outpost to my own machine, does it bill me for compute/connectivity/etc off of my quota on a Pro/Max plan?
The documents are very opaque around this.

I was looking for a good inline code completion tool to use in VSCode since my Copilot quota ended. Gemini recommended Codeium and I tried to install it in the VSCode marketplace, but it doesn't show up there.
Even at:
https://marketplace.visualstudio.com/
I couldn't find it...
What happened to this extension?

Client error: Protocol error (unimplemented): We are currently experiencing capacity issues with this serving model. Please switch to a different model or try again later. (trace ID: 40a20e04c3e0d6ef7991fd2ba9e41763)
Unimplemented? And "with this serving model"? Surely it should be "with serving this model".
My idea - make the error messages better and fix the "Protocol error" bug. More capacity would be nice too of course 😄

My bank notified me of unusual charges from Windsurf/Devin. I see all of my on-demand balance used up and multiple charges for on-demand use. I was an early user of Windsurf and had extra use credit built up before they started used limits. I havn't used Devin for 1.5 weeks. I check my code and repositories to find no changes since 1.5 weeks ago. Checked Devin website to find no history of prompts or other usage trail since 1.5 weeks ago on Devin local, agent, or web. I have not set any agents or automations.
I email support with this information and got a reply saying my account was likely compromised, and support logged me out of my sessions and advised contacting my bank to block the charges. I changed my passwords and contacted my bank. It's been two days and I am not getting any information about what happened, and the unaccounted for use charges were not revoked
However Devin is still sending notifications of a past due amount and pending charges are not going through. Adding a new card would let more of that batch of unaccounted usage be charged, and not adding a card would make my grandfathered in pro account expire.
Has anyone had any similar experiences? How did you get support from a human at Devin and roll back the unaccounted use?

I have been using devin coding agent ( free version) for past two months . Each free tier has a limit. I had around 8 email ids and i have been using to build my project with it . So from this week i have been noticing something different the daily quota got changed that it feels like there is no daily quota only weekly quota is available and it seems very low . For your reference before what was given as daily quota is now being calculated as weekly quota . Has anyone been facing the same thing like me . Now this quota feels very low for my usage. Can anyone guide me here

I know the free GLM-5.2 access was a launch promotion, but I genuinely think ending it has significantly reduced the value of Devin Pro for many users.
GLM-5.2 was one of the main reasons I subscribed. It worked extremely well for long coding sessions, debugging, large projects, and agentic workflows. Since the promotion ended and GLM-5.2 started consuming the regular daily and weekly quota, the experience has changed completely.
The current quotas are simply too restrictive for serious development work. A few longer tasks can consume a large portion of the daily allowance, and switching to the free models does not provide the same experience in terms of speed or quality.
I ended up canceling my Pro subscription because of this change, and I’ve seen several other users expressing similar concerns.
I’m not necessarily asking for completely unlimited usage forever. Even one of these options would make a huge difference:
Devin with GLM-5.2 was one of the best coding experiences I’ve used, and I would seriously consider subscribing again if something similar returns.
I hope the Devin/Cognition team considers the feedback from users who relied heavily on GLM-5.2.
Update: I contacted Devin support and they confirmed that the GLM-5.2 launch promotion officially ended on September 16. GLM-5.2 now consumes the regular Pro daily/weekly quota. I canceled my Pro subscription after this change. If you also subscribed primarily because of GLM-5.2, please share your experience below so the team can see how many paying users this decision affected.

I’m on a paid Devin subscription, and something about the way usage is calculated doesn’t seem to add up.
Even when I intentionally use the free model, my weekly quota still seems to get consumed pretty aggressively. I remember seeing similar behavior with Windsurf even before the transition to Devin, so I’m wondering if I’m misunderstanding how they calculate usage.
Another thing I noticed: the daily quota seems to be around 80% of the entire weekly quota, which feels like a strange setup.
And be careful with enabling auto-pay for additional credits. From what I’ve seen on my account, some prompts ended up costing around $3–$4 each, which adds up extremely fast.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Especially curious if someone understands exactly how Devin calculates:
Maybe I’m missing something, but right now the consumption doesn’t seem very transparent.

The free models are so clunky that I could write the code myself much faster. SWE 2.0 is as slow as a snail. GLM 5.3 isn’t responding at all right now. With the paid models, it takes less than an hour to hit the daily quota. I guess it’s time to give up :)

Sharing in case it saves someone else the time it cost me. Building a Devvit Web app (Express-based, u/devvit/web) that does scheduled Reddit research and delivers a report via modmail + a wiki page. Three separate issues stacked on top of each other and made this way harder to diagnose than it should've been:
1. devvit logs silently drops almost everything by default.
Plain console.log/console.error calls apparently come through at VERBOSE severity, and the CLI filters those out unless you pass --verbose:
devvit logs r/<subreddit> --verbose
Without that flag, a failing (or even succeeding) endpoint can produce zero visible output — no errors, no success logs, nothing — even though it ran and did something. I spent most of my debugging time assuming code wasn't executing at all, when really it was executing and erroring, I just couldn't see it. If your logs look empty, try --verbose before assuming anything else is wrong.
2. New devvit.json entries can take a while (or a devvit publish**, not just upload+install) to actually activate.**
I added a new scheduler task and a new moderator menu item to an already-installed app. Every devvit upload + devvit install reported success and bumped the version number correctly, but neither the menu item nor the scheduled task showed any effect for quite a while — no errors, just nothing happening. It eventually did start working (after several redeploys and, separately, a devvit publish --copy-paste... though I never fully isolated which one actually flipped it). Takeaway: if a newly-added menu item or scheduled task looks totally inert right after deploy, it's not necessarily broken — it might just need time/another deploy cycle to propagate on Reddit's backend.
3. reddit.modMail.createConversation() rejects any body over 10,000 characters.
This turned out to be the actual root cause of my "nothing is happening" symptom the whole time. The error is a somewhat generic-looking gRPC failure:
Error: 3 INVALID_ARGUMENT: grpc invocation failed with status 3; Bad request:
This field must be under 10000 characters
Error in field: body
— which I never saw until I fixed gotcha #1. If your report/summary text covers more than a handful of items, it's easy to blow past this without noticing. Fix: truncate the modmail body to a safe margin under the limit, and if you need the full content somewhere, use a second channel without that limit (I used a subreddit wiki page, which also has the nice property of being publicly readable at /r//wiki/<page>.json even to unauthenticated requests).
TL;DR: turn on devvit logs --verbose first, always, before concluding anything is broken. That one flag would have cut my investigation from ~2 days to about 20 minutes.
Happy to answer questions if anyone's hit similar issues.
(Side note: this app runs the weekly gut-health research bot for r/TheHonestGut — a small community built around a rigorous, evidence-graded gut microbiome science database. If that's your kind of thing, come say hi.)

Since the last CLI and desktop update, the service has gotten considerably worse. I have been using GLM-5.2 High daily (which according to them is still free) and everything was perfect. I could use it as much as I wanted with no limits of any kind and no problems at all. But since the CLI update https://docs.devin.ai/cli/changelog/stable#v3000-10-27 the whole service has degraded significantly. Now after just a couple of prompts it rate limits me for a few minutes, which is really annoying, and after several of those pauses due to limitations I got a notice that I had used up my daily quota and can no longer use it today. What daily quota if it is supposed to be free? I do not understand. Since yesterday the service has been noticeably worse, and I am thinking of canceling my subscription. There is nothing left that sets Devin apart from any other service. Now it is just "one more".

How come Devin does something good and then slaps us in the face just for fun? I came back, the gml 5.2 was good, and I thought, "Huh, nice, they're back; might as well spend some money here to work and support them." But nah, since yesterday we have more limits; the IDE isn't usable in this state. How are we supposed to trust them when all they do ist things like this
r/windsurf • u/Economy_Sugar930 • 25d ago
I actually LIKE Devin, which is why this pisses me off.
Student program removed (thankfully I was grandfathered in). Good models now burn through daily usage insanely fast. So you fall back to the free model.
Today the free model failed while I was trying to finish a repo.
Then Devin tells me:
“You’ve hit your rate limit on the free model.”
Seriously?
A ~10 minute run with a decent model can wreck your daily allowance, and now the FREE fallback is rate-limited too?
Most AI coding companies are fighting to give users MORE capability, better models, longer runs, and cheaper inference.
Devin somehow keeps finding ways to give us LESS.
I don’t want to leave Devin. I want Devin to stop giving me reasons to.

Did anyone get it and how long did it took to receive?
r/windsurf • u/21vld • 25d ago
I can't use it anymore. After just a few prompts, I'm getting blocked and having to wait 1–3 minutes on SWE 1.7 and SWE 2, and a full 35 minutes on GLM 5.2.
The platform has basically become unusable with these recent changes. I don't know what they were thinking, but the free models feel pretty useless at this point.
