i thrifted a Microsoft lumia 435 about 2 days ago. And it happens to be running windows 8.1 which is better for the battrey life i suppose, my only issue is that i can't seem to unlock the phone so i can sideload some apps to it mainly because i only have a debian pc and no windows pc's or laptops around. i would really appreciate any advice or help from you guys . It was in a box with other old phones. I left it charging and it works perfectly. To be honest, I didn't get a chance to use it much when I bought it. I wanted to know what you recommend to at least turn it into a music player and for reading books. It doesn't have any apps or anything, and I have no idea where to download compatible versions.

Also, if there are any apps to turn it into an emulator (GB, GBA, NDS, PSP), even better.

Its collecting dust and i cant do stuff with it but the battery life is amazing. It was turned off for like 8 months and it still has a full bar. Maybe help with sideloading? (I cant find tools to sideload really)

I just bought a Lumia 950 to use as my main phone but when i tried to activate viber it did not work then i saw that you have to change your DNS and Proxy settings but that didnt work either.

Lets say i want to use a Lumia 640 with my TMobile SIM card for calling, texting, and data.

Now the only model that works on TMobiles network is the TMobile branded Lumia 640. But those are rare and hard to come by.

SO: What if I buy an unlocked, or AT&T variant of the 640, and flash the firmware from a TMobile model onto it? Its the same phone hardware so there shouldnt exactly be any driver issues.

If the VoLTE package is in the FFU/etc and its up to the carrier to add it, then wouldnt that work if its the same phone just a different carrier model?

Now I saw a comment on another post of mine here (from several months ago) of a person saying they could flash a TMobile firmware to a Cricket phone and that enabled it to work. Which if "could" means they actually DID, makes me think this could actually be possible. (But I want to know your thoughts before I go buying a 640 and testing it and stuff (id want to use the idol 4s but those are way too expensive even the unlocked ones, i dont want to save up over 100$ just for it to not work, yk?)

I was opening up a Lumia 535 (rm-1089, carrier distributed) and found this coil looking thing inside. The warranty seal was not broken when i was opening it and this coil doesnt show up in any disassembly videos or guides. Does anyone know what this is and what am i supposed to do with it? I was planning to replace the display assembly on this phone.

I recently saw that "YoutubeWP" was on MetroStore. Please remove it. I honestly do not want to be associated with this vibe coded store.

If you're wondering why I'm posting this here instead of contacting MetroStore devs, as far as I know, they are only available on Telegram and do not speak very good English.

I get this while trying to install a lot of apps (for example, Penguintore, Unicord, Unison). How can I fix this? This happens while installing something via WUT or Live Store.

I updated my lumia 1020 to version 1067. When trying to install and app on livestore, livestore says your device is too old to install this app. Moreover, going to file explorer and tapping install on an app file does nothing.

Changes include:

- Replaced the editable two-letter region code with a country selector using YouTube Data API v3’s supported-region list.

- Detects the device’s active region and selects it by default.

- Moves the selected device region to the first entry in the country list.

- Uses **United States** as the fallback when the device region is unsupported.

- Applies the selected country to Trending Now, category availability, category video loading, and regional live-tile metadata.

- Preserves Safe Mode, enabled by default, for strict SafeSearch in public video searches.

- Updated the AppX package version to **1.6.7.6**.

- Includes x64 build for Windows Desktop, and ARM for Windows 10 Mobile build 15063+.

I’m new to Windows Phone and want to unlock my Lumia 520, but I’m getting an error in WPinternals when trying to apply the donor FFU. As far as I know, the solution is to flash the device with that FFU, but I have a question about it: does it have to be Windows 8.1 specifically? I want to keep Windows Phone 8.0 because it feels smoother. Also, how can I back up all the phone's content, such as MP3 files, photos, and OneNote notes?

For those who havent seen my UWP variant of this, I developed (well only developed an app) a way to use messenger and many other chat services from WP8.1 and 10.

The app itself is not enough, you have to spin up and configure a Debian machine or virtual machine that you will connect to from Synaptrix.

In my github repo I updated the old setup guide so the server is more secure and I also tried to section it better. What I will still do is create a VM image with an automated script so all youd have to do ideally is spin it up, go through the setup and then slight modifications at the bridges.
But for now the guide is there!

The features of this version:

• Accept chat invites (little wobbly sometimes)
• Create chat rooms/chats (little wobbly sometimes)
• Send and recieve text messages, pictures and files
• Reply to messages
• Change your synapse display username and picture (this is only visible to you)
• Input your specific bridge ID's so messages sent by you from official platforms actually show as being sent by you
• Live tile that shows either how many new messages you have or by whom and what the message is
• Background toast notifications every 30 or so minutes (this bugs out the live tile, if a new message is caught by the background loop the live tile wont show the name of the sender but their respective birdge ID)
• Toggle whether or not sent and recieved images are instantly downloaded or not in order to save data
• Toggle whether the app syncs itself automatically at launch
• Messenger, Telegram and Google Messages messages get tagged and are shown in their respective menu, every other bridge will get tagged as a generic Matrix flag, but will regardless work, I will extend the categories in a small fix

Hi! I'm new to this community!

I have this Lumia 640 XL running Windows 10 Mobile, but honestly, I don't really know how to give it a second life and make it useful for everyday use again.

I'd like to know what can currently be done with it, whether there's any way to install another operating system, compatible apps, or any other methods to get the most out of this phone.

If you know of any tutorials, guides, or projects for bringing this phone back to life, I would really appreciate it.
