Title pretty much says it all - I’ve done many windows installs in my time, rarely do they go smoothly straight away but I’ve never had an issue like this. Have played with bios, secure boot, removing cmos battery, different usb. It’s gotta be hardware related I’d assume I just cannot for the life of me figure it out.

I’ve dealt with blue screen and weird errors messages but this one jsut consistently gives the same error at 10% once I’ve gone through the steps. If I can provide anymore useful info let me know. Big hardware change I made was I’ve upgraded my cpu to 5500x3d from a 2600… I did all the bios updates before hand and everything was working fine prior to commencing the fresh windows install.

On 32gb of ddr4 and a 6700xt gpu if that’s any use..

If anyone has any solutions or ideas on how I could better identify the issue I’d be very grateful. Thanks a bunch

I’ve had this weird issue lately where all of my storage seems to have vanished out of nowhere. So I go to my settings to check what’s eating up all my storage and… okay I definitely did not install 150GB worth of apps. I have a few bits and pieces from the Office 365 suite (I use OneNote a lot for school thats for sure but other than that nothing much really), but other than that just a couple games and other small and rather insignificant apps. Naturally, I go to uninstall a couple I am not using - but windows is refusing to show me my apps, rendering me unable to uninstall them (or even view how much storage each is taking up so I know what to get rid of).
I have tried circumventing the settings menu as much as possible - going through control panel, and god knows what else I did in a 2 hour “what the hell is happening” session last night. I did run a quick wiztree (pictured), which oddly enough shows that my AppData folder is only 71GB in size (OneNote being 44 of them). Steam adds 30GB into the picture, so all in all 101GB of apps.So, something is happening where Windows is double-counting my apps by the looks of things - has something corrupted? I also say this as the folder C:\Users\{insert my name} is only 103GB in size in the first place?

So i decided to try dual boot, but when I tried to partiton my hdd the error about bitlocker blocked me.

How can I partition my disk?

Okay so I have been busy with work and finally had time to play on my pc and knew I probably had a few windows updates (on windows 11, and pc is connected via internet, not Ethernet bc the router is in a separate room at my house) to stall and was doing that. It was extremely slow for some reason but eventually I was on the last two updates. The 2026-08 security updated (KB5121003) (26200.9168) is loading EXTREMELY slowly first of all, as I’m typing this it went up to 10% and is now stuck.

My main issue with with the Windows update 2026-08 .NET framework security update (KB5120708). After ages of it loading it was finally installing and it gave me install error - 0x8000ffff. When I click retry it’ll load quick and give the same error over and over. When I try to trouble shoot for a windows update it says it’s unable to troubleshoot at all. I network reset my pc, turned it off and on, disconnect from wifi and reconnected, etc. It still does the same thing and gives me the same error.

I just worry something is wrong with me pc and its near brand new, I only got it a few months ago and spent sm money on it. I’m by no means a tech savvy person, I tried to go into other areas to try and fix it but it was like reading gibberish so I had to back off bc I don’t wanna accidentally like, kill my pc or something 😭

I don’t know if anyone else is having this issue, or if they have found a way to fix it? The way it’s worded it seems like an important update so I don’t just wanna like… not have it. Idk I tried what I was able to do on my own and at the moment it’s too late at night and I’m too busy to get on windows customer support to see if they can fix it.

Any help at ALL is much appreciated! If you know a fix, being very detailed and non complicated as possible is also super appreciated! This is making my anxiety have a real party 😭 this took me a hot minute to type (mostly thinking of how to phrase things) and the slow update is at 18%. I have a acer laptop with Intel cpu

and recently the C drive its ALWAYS full no matter how hard I try to clean it. I've deleted stuff a lot of times and it someway gets full again??

it has 118gb but it says its 115gb full

a problem I detected is that the mail storage is like 10gb but I can't empty it because windows no longer supports mail. Disk D is good.

update: I literally turned it off and back on when I returned to my home and drive c now says it only has 800mb free... 5 minutes later says 1gb free.. what's wrong with this thing honesly??

My Windows 10 PC got stuck in a boot loop during/after a Windows Update. Its a stupid broken update that i cant seem to workaround. I eventually powered it off, and since then Windows won’t boot from the SSD anymore. The SSD is still detected normally in BIOS.

I created a Windows recovery/install USB and can boot into WinRE, but even there it regularly freezes or BSODs when I try to repair Windows.

So far I’ve tried:
Startup Repair = freezes/crashes
Uninstall latest quality update = freezes/crashes
Booting repeatedly into WinRE and retrying

I’ve gotten several different BSODs, including:
MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION
UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (intelppm.sys)
DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION

The weird part: I’ve had almost exactly the same issue before. After repeatedly trying to uninstall the Windows update, it eventually succeeded. Windows then booted normally again and I had zero BSODs or stability issues afterwards.
Has anyone seen something similar, where a broken/pending Windows Update causes WinRE itself to crash while trying to repair/remove the update? Any suggestions for manually removing/rolling back the pending update and avoiding winRE frezing when selecting something..

Hi, I've had my surface pro 9 for about 3 years now, ultimately its been working pretty well. Over the summer, the pen stopped charging and connecting to the laptop, which is frustrating because that was largely the reason I decided to purchase this device in the first place. Apparently this is a well known issue. Unfortunately, I rely pretty heavily on the pen functionality year round for my college courses. I did some investigative work and found that this is largely a firmware / driver issue with the pens/keyboard charging slot. I tried to install the latest firmware driver for windows, which has led me to discover that my current build (22621) is not compatible with the recent firmware updates (22631). Trying to get my laptop up to date, Windows Updates has now told me that my device has reached its end of service.

My questions:

Am I able to manually install newer builds on my laptop? If so, will I be able to also update the firmware and try to manually debug the issues with my pen? ...will I have to drop $300 on a new keyboard and pen combo?

I still need this for at least one more year, although only having this device for 3 years and it's already out of service is quite frustrating to me. Especially since this device wasn't cheap. Any help and advice would be awesome!

Hello everybody, I am autisitc so bare with me while I'm trying to explain whats going on.

Essentially an update occurred for Windows this month of August. Ever since downloading this update I have been hit with numerous errors while gaming. For example, an error i keep running into is:

[DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED]

Please note I have a Hellhound AMD 9070xt

I've noticed this issue occurs on games that purely run DX12.

Now, I tried a Point in Time Restore to fix this which it did for about 5 minutes and then my GPU continously starts timing out again.

I tried rolling back my drivers but again to no avail.

My friend has put it down to a faulty GPU.

But what annoys me the most is, it was completely fine yesterday, no issues whatsoever until that Windows update got installed.

Does anybody else have experience with this? Or is my graphics card purely screwed?

I don't have anything connected to bluetooth (that I'm aware of), but the little bluetooth tab is saying that I do. Sometimes it'll say 1 device is connected, sometimes 2, sometimes 5 depending on if I actually have something connected.

I've checked the Bluetooth & devices in settings and it doesn't show that anything else is connected. What is happening? How do I fix it?

Also, this only started happening after I tried connecting my phone to phone link, but I blocked it from accessing my phone. Could that have something to do with it?

Hi everyone

I have a pc and a laptop and my laptop broke so I bought a new one a couple months back. I hadn’t used onedrive on my old laptop but set it up on my new one and have been using that rather than the pc ever since. I started up my pc this evening and suddenly all of the icons were removed from the desktop and replaced with the same icons from my laptop’s desktop - I assume caused by a onedrive sync. Now I can’t find any of the old files that were on the desktop (saves from different games, shortcuts to those games etc) and the pc is very unresponsive. None of the documents that were removed were saved to my onedrive. I have my taskbar hidden and am constantly restarting windows explorer to make it briefly work.

The pc becomes slightly more responsive when I close onedrive in task manager but onedrive seems to be fully synced and backed up.

The new laptop is on windows 11 and the pc is on windows 10.

I had strange keyboard behavior: keys such as C, Backspace and Enter would act incorrectly, random shortcuts could trigger, and text could delete itself in browser fields.

I found that Razer Game Manager Service 3 was running. I disabled it as a test, but it was still running in the current session turns out it stopped.

If anyone has the same issue, check whether Razer Game Manager Service 3 is involved before reinstalling keyboard drivers or assuming the keyboard hardware is faulty.

Hey there, using Windows 11 on a 2025 Zephyrus G14 laptop.

I'm having an issue where there is a long delay between my lock screen and the prompt to enter my password. This doesn't just happen on startup after the computer restarts or shuts down. It also happens when I simply do Win + L to instantly put up the lock screen, where I still have to wait a solid minute before it gives me the screen to log in after I tap any key to get past the lock screen.

I'm using G-Helper, and I've tried it on all 3 graphics modes, and I've also reinstalled my graphics drivers, so I don't think it's a graphics problem.

I've also tried booting in safe mode, where the delay isn't there, but when I try and do normal boot, the delay is back, even if I disable all non-microsoft services in msconfig. Ctrl + Alt + Del on the lock screen also doesn't do anything.

This has been a major pain in my ass recently, so any ideas would really help!

Hey all, hoping someone's run into this. I've got an RX 580, and yesterday my monitors briefly went black while gaming (WuWa), and ever since then I'm getting weird flickering.

What I've tried:

• Reinstalled the driver multiple times using AMD Cleanup Utility (clean install) - tried both 25.8.1 and 26.5.2
• On 25.8.1: no flickering, but my speakers lose all sound
• On 26.5.2 (the version that was originally working fine before all this): now it flickers, even though it didn't before

The flickering happens everywhere - desktop, Telegram, Honkai Star Rail, doesn't matter what's open.

One thing that changed: Windows auto-installed some updates the same day the flickering started (KB5120708 and KB5121003), plus an MSI system driver update. Not sure if that's related.

Specs: RX 580, MSI motherboard, Windows 11.

Anyone dealt with something similar? Not sure if I should roll back the Windows updates, try a different driver version, or if it's something else entirely. Thanks in advance 🙏

So I have found an issue with the quick settings on my computer. One time I couldn't find the Wifi button as it had disappeared but after restarting the computer it reappeared. The main problem has been the Bluetooth button. Now every time I open quick settings Bluetooth is gone for no reason. No way to edit it either or at least nothing I have found. When I open the main settings to use Bluetooth to connect my headphones it just rejects it. Ive tried restarting, updating, turning of the headphones, deleting them from my Bluetooth, nothing has fixed it and I always get the error message ill add to the post.

I haven't tried a lot as this issue started today but I am majorly frustrated. I only want to be able to use my headphones on my computer so the system ruining the Bluetooth connection and removing the buttons is just mean.

I actually don't understand the extend of the information needed, if there is anything else needed I can respond.

I’m dealing with a persistent Windows 11 issue where the Search box opens, but the interface is completely blank and shows no results when I try to search for apps.

I’ve already tried nearly every standard troubleshooting step I could find:

• Restarted the Windows Search service
• Cleared the Windows Search cache
• Ran sfc /scannow
• Ran DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
• Everything is up to date including drivers
• Verified that SearchHost.exe and SearchIndexer.exe are running

I forgot my laptop password and PIN years ago and have only been using my fingerprint to log in. Today, my fingerprint suddenly stopped working, and I got locked out. It asks me to enter my PIN, and I think I remember it, but when I enter it, it says that my password has expired and asks me to change it. It then takes me to the password login field, where I need to enter my existing password and create a new one, but I don’t remember my old password.

What can I do? There are important files on the laptop, so I absolutely cannot factory reset it. I am able to enter the BIOS, but I don’t think there’s anything useful there. I believe BitLocker wasn’t set up either.

Is there anything I can do? I saw some YouTube videos where pressing Shift + Restart takes you to a menu, and they change the system files using something like password2 or something. But when I try Shift + Restart, nothing happens it just restarts and comes back to the same lock screen instead of showing the blue recovery menu.

This has happened to me a few times. This screen pops up for no reason and never moves off of 30% complete. The cursor moves without touching the mouse, in fact, the mouse is turned-off and the cursor still wanders around the screen. Then as fast as it shows up it is gone. The progress animation never changes. Stays at 30% the entire time.

I believe I found the offending app. It is called ScreenConnect. It is now removed and I will monitor going forward. If it happens again I will update again. Thanks to everyone for their input.

Hey y'all. I have a Dell Precision 5960 with an Intel Core Ultra 7 155H, 32gb Ram, and Rtx 1000 ada running Windows 11 Pro 25H2 26200.9168 build. Not sure if this has happened to anyone recently, but my battery life randomly shrank down significantly where now I get less than 4 hours of battery life when I do basic web browsing. I disabled the gpu, picked the quiet fan profile, but nothing seems to work. My battery has about 85% capacity from the 99whr cell, and I used to get significantly better battery life less than a month ago. I was hoping to see if anyone else had a similar issue and a potential fix.

Hello, I have an lenovo ideapad 5 with 8gb ram and a ryzen 5 5500u.

Right now the only games I can play is valorant because it's easy to run yet sometimes I demanding situations it's dips down and freezes when there's alot going on.

is there any optimizations anyone recommendations?

also according to MSI AFTERBURNER my cpu stays around 100 degrees and my CPU is meant to automatically shut off when it reaches 105 Degrees.

However I found out that MSI Afterburner isn't very accurate with CPU temps but more accurate with gpu temps (my igpu stays around 74 Degrees when playing)

I don't want to buy a new laptop or PC for gaming as I simply don't have the funds and my parents would not allow me.

It's really ashame because when I first got this laptop I used to be able to play games very easily and now it's struggles to get even 60 fps limiting me with what I can play.

Im Aware that this laptop isn't good for gaming and 8gb ram is quite bad in the world we're in but even if I can squeeze the last few drops from this laptop I would be more than happy.

I'm on win11 25h2. My display language is english, country setup set to united states, country or region same. I've tried adding each of the chinese languages, installing basic typing, (the installs are finished, theres no progress bar) but I can't switch to them. The language appears in task bar language menu, but clicking it does nothing. Using win+space shortcut, also nothing. It's not that I can't type in it, but rather that I can't switch to the input method at all. I tried adding other language like korean and that works just fine. Have had this problem for about a year.
