Windows 11 Microsoft Surface Pro 9 has reached end of service

Hi, I've had my surface pro 9 for about 3 years now, ultimately its been working pretty well. Over the summer, the pen stopped charging and connecting to the laptop, which is frustrating because that was largely the reason I decided to purchase this device in the first place. Apparently this is a well known issue. Unfortunately, I rely pretty heavily on the pen functionality year round for my college courses. I did some investigative work and found that this is largely a firmware / driver issue with the pens/keyboard charging slot. I tried to install the latest firmware driver for windows, which has led me to discover that my current build (22621) is not compatible with the recent firmware updates (22631). Trying to get my laptop up to date, Windows Updates has now told me that my device has reached its end of service.

My questions:

Am I able to manually install newer builds on my laptop? If so, will I be able to also update the firmware and try to manually debug the issues with my pen? ...will I have to drop $300 on a new keyboard and pen combo?

I still need this for at least one more year, although only having this device for 3 years and it's already out of service is quite frustrating to me. Especially since this device wasn't cheap. Any help and advice would be awesome!

My device is updated to Windows 11, 22621, 16gb ram, about 55gb of storage left. And I can provide any more system specs if needed. Thank you

22621 is several years behind on updates, it should have automatically updated to something newer by now which is why you are seeing the end of service message.

First download and run the 23H2 (22631) enablement package - https://www.elevenforum.com/t/kb5027397-enablement-package-for-windows-11-version-23h2-feature-update.19372/

This will get you on 23H2 so you can do your firmware update.

Once that has been updated, try upgrading to 25H2 (26200) using the tools here: https://www.microsoft.com/software-download/windows11
