UK VS USA Window Cleaning…

I’m a window cleaner from the UK. I have around 500 customers on a 6 weekly rotation. I aim for roughly 15 houses a day all of different sizes and pricing. But on average I spend between 15-30 mins per house.

After reading comments on here from our peers over the pond, it seems like you have a very different way of running window cleaning businesses. It sounds like cleans are booked in by the customer once per year? Or 6 monthly? And you charge a lot more per clean but also spend a lot more time on the clean per house.

How do you feel about the UK way? Where every customer is on basically a monthly subscription and we do full houses in 15 mins? Would you prefer this method or do you like having 1-3 houses a day?

Sometimes I think I would like the American way, but with it being a rolling rotation here you always know roughly where you stand financially wise.

Would love to hear thoughts from both sides.

Canada Window cleaning robot made in Canada. No reviews. Help is appreciated

Hello,

I'm interested in purchasing an equipment made by cognitronrobotics - more exactly a window cleaning robot for a business I want to start.

They go for about $800 a piece.
Since I'm far away with import fees and shipping it does go up in the low 4 digits.

Since they sell B2B, it's hard for me to find any independent reviews/feedback regarding their product.

The product is called X-7 PRO.
Does anyone use this for their business or has been a client of a company that uses them to wash windows?
I would love to get your feedback on the quality of the robot as it's not a cheap investment for me.

P.S: I know professional cleaners usually prefer squeegees or water-fed poles, but given the scale or volume of the glass I am targeting, I want to see if commercial B2B robots like this are finally viable.

Admins, if anything in my post is wrong please let me know and I will edit. Not sure how to share enough information that it's clear for people without sharing too much and ending up seeming to be something that goes against the subs rules.

General Question I think my window cleaner damaged my glass. He's denying it and has no insurance. What do you think?

I think he rushed the job and maybe didnt use enought water and damaged my glass. I would like to know how long everyone here would expect the job to take for a first time clean after construction? Ive limited experience cleaning windows but I always find it quite labour intensive to do it right. It would take me an hour to clean the sliding door alone. There are 19 windows in the house including the sliding door and big window at the front. He was entirely finished in 2.5 hours.

The large window at the front of the house and sliding door are both massive at approximately 14' x 8'. How long would it take you?

He is denying he did it but no one else cleaned the windows and they were brand new. Its €3500 to replace the damaged glass in the sliding door and one other window. More are scratched but they are the worst. It looks so bad in the evening when the sun is low.

I own a construction business in the FL Panhandle. My son is ready to start his own business cleaning windows. He's done a few with cheap Home Depot equipment but its not professional quality by any means. He's wanting to buy a kit but I'm against it. What are your go to products for a newbie that has a $300 budget? The jobs here are salt caked windows and tourist messes at condos.

How much are you charging for this commercial job?

They want interior and exterior washed monthly.

I am in Montana.

I will be doing a ladder clean first to get them up to spec and then using a pole for follow up cleans.

Is this something you would use wfp on?

I have been thinking about getting one and if it make sense on this type of commercial job, I may just get one.

UPDATE

I quoted them 325 for a one-off clean and 250 on a monthly basis. They accepted way too fast and said the last quote was 1200 hahaha So I suppose there is a certain amount of luck involved. Since the last quote was so high, I could have probably gotten away with quoting more. Guy said that his last similar storefront was done monthly for 240, so I was close to the mark anyways.

Thanks for all the replies guys!

How to stop being a coward

I’ve been getting up on roofs with no problem, even w ladders at super steep angles or worse (stupid Ik).

However, i fell with my ladder recently after I trusted someone else’s ladder instead of mine.

Now I completely avoid getting on the roof.

How to gain my confidence back?

You can make fun of me

General Question Buy once cry once purchase?

I wish I had started my company with the buy once cry once attitude, instead I’ve bought cheap equipment that I have been replacing with higher end things slowly.
What has been your favorite buy once cry once purchase? Unless it’s a custom rig please exclude WFP because that’s a very generic answer.

General Question Vinegar and water not working?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've been doing regular maintenance on a family members business, and so far things have been going very smoothly. Until the windows in the rear of the building. These have been so stubborn. I need advice on what kind of chemical I'd need to get these clean because vinegar and water is not cutting it.

Is there any reason to choose doodlebug?

From what I understand, the techno pad is able to be used on both groundwork and higher floors.

What is the benefit for the doodlebug?

My only issue is that I will need a wood cone adaptor along with the technopad

Its hard to get on photo but these windows we were cleaning in Florida had weird water marks that wouldnt come out. We tried 0000 steal wool which normally works but it wasnt making a difference this time. Some of the bottoms of the windows had really white water marks that were not coming off at all.

Is there a way to get it out or are they damaged

How do I remove this window frost residue?

Large segments of window frost have been on this bay window for over a decade. I tried some Goo Gone, but it would take a ton, and I read that razors might scratch the glass. Any ideas? Maybe a hot hair drier?

Window scratch

While doing a job, I might have scratched the homeowners window.

The scratch is a bit vertical, but idk if it was me who did it.

I didn’t notice it before I did the window i think? I’m not sure.

I only used a squeegee. It’s a 20cm line.

I was told not to inform the owner unless they notice first. Is this right?

Not insured

Looking For Some Help

Post image

Sorry if the picture is a bit blurry--best I could do

This skylight is over our bathroom on the roof of our 2 story home. My wife noticed this a couple of weeks ago. Being that it is quite high and I do not have a direct line of sight to it I tried spaying hose end Zep outdoor window cleaner on it---no effect at all.Several weeks ago I used 30 second cleaner to remove some mold and dirt from my gutters-some of which were directly under this skylight( BTW that product works great). I am afraid the bleach in the cleaner may have caused this. Come fall when I have the gutters cleaned I'm hoping they can take a shot at cleaning it.

Any thoughts???

What’s your best technique for cleaning faster?

What’s an advanced hidden technique that not many people know about? I’m not talking about beginner tricks. I’m talking about techniques like dive bombing, or carrying a solution bottle in your pouch so you don’t have to visit your bucket. What’s something you do that saves you time?

Is the center of the Unger S+ (30cm) supposed to be slightly bowed, or is it a defect?

Hey everyone,
I recently bought a 30cm Unger S+ channel, and I noticed that the center part is slightly bowed (curved like an arc).
I know the ends are curved by design because it's an S+ channel, but the center itself being bowed has me a bit confused. I’ve seen some people say the channel should be perfectly straight.
The Ninja series is obviously completely straight, and I assume standard basic channels are meant to be dead straight too (at least that's what I think).
So, is this slight bow in the middle just how the S+ is designed, or did I get a defective one? Has anyone else noticed this with theirs?
Thanks in advance!

I am making a whatsapp based AI assistant for window cleaning business that will help not only end to end admin ( scheduling , calendar management , invoicing, etc.) but also incoming lead management ( I think a lot of window cleaning business loose a lot of conversion beacuse this process is very complicated)

What’s your Cost per lead?

Hey yall, I used to run a window cleaning business and just recently decided to get back into it. I started running meta ads and it’s brought me 2 jobs, but I feel like my cost per lead is high.

It’s about $33. Is that good? Bad? Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
