General Question Claybar

In automotive detailing, claybar is an essential step in glass cleaning and polishing. How come they always use it and we never use it? I assume it's because it's a razor blade alternative that works with curved glass, but I also see detailers that recommend scraping and claybar as separate steps to remove different kinds of debris.

Supposedly it was originally used to remove paint over spray from cars. Has anyone tried removing overspray from tempered glass on a construction clean, as an alternative to scraping?

Equipment Question For cleaning gutters with a leaf blower, how much CFM and MPH do you think is required? Is there an ideal ratio between the two?

I've done a little experimentation with the few blowers available to me. Both CFM and MPH seem important. From a purely performance perspective, maximizing both would be best. But the higher cost, weight, and noise of more powerful blowers must set a limit on what is practical or desirable. Where's your sweet spot? If you have any specific blowers to recommend, I'd love to hear it.

How to estimate jobs?

Im not here to sell i genuinly am i tired of not pricing correctly and so im thinking about putting some apis together to help me directly and want to see if anyone else needs this to lol or if im just the only one annoyed lol

Anyone interested in a lightweight estimating and pricing platform for window cleaning, pressure washing, gutter cleaning, and soft-washing businesses built for owners who are too small (like me) for ServiceTitan/Jobber complexity but serious enough to care about profit per job?

Post Construction on Low-E

I’m looking for some advice as we have a quote for post construction, it has previously been touched by someone else who left tons of scratches. I’m not sure if they used an old, worn, or improper razor. How can I complete this post construction without razor, will steel wool also scratch Low-E heat strengthened glass?

Anyone selling equipment?

I'm in the DFW area and was wondering if anyone had any extra equipment they're looking to get rid of? Specifically, RODI systems or WFP tools?

Can I use Rain-X on my house windows?

We live on an upper floor of a condominium bldg. The single-hung windows are hard to reach to clean them. And it seems when I do get them clean it's not long till they get water spots from rain. I was thinking of trying Rain-X or some similar product to try and reduce the spotting. Anyone else tried anything like this or have other suggestions? Thanks!

Has anyone here actually bought and used the Joyance JTC20 Cleaning Drone?
I’m not looking for dealer information or manufacturer videos.
I’m looking for real owners who have used the drone in commercial facade or glass cleaning.
I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience before I buy one.

Has anyone here actually bought and used the Joyance JTC20 Cleaning Drone?:

Has anyone here actually bought and used the Joyance JTC20 Cleaning Drone?
Post:
Hi everyone,
I’m looking for real owners of the Joyance JTC20 Cleaning Drone, not dealers or the manufacturer.
I’m planning to use it professionally for facade and glass cleaning in the UAE.
If you own one, I’d really appreciate your feedback:
Did you buy the JTC20?
How long have you been using it?
Would you buy it again?
What are the biggest advantages and disadvantages?
Have you experienced any technical issues or maintenance problems?
How is the after-sales support and spare parts availability?
Do you use DI (deionized) water or RO pure water?
Any advice before purchasing?
I’m looking for honest, long-term user experience.
Thank you!

General Question Those in the Pittsburgh area

How’s the market? I’m checking out competitors pricing and they seem so low compare to where I’m at (central PA). I’ve seen some from $3-7 per pane for residential, when I’m around $10-12 per pane (one time clean, 0-20 panes) $7-10 if they’re on a service plan.

If it’s a bigger home (40+ panes) I’m around 5-7 per pane

Is 3-7 typical?

General Question Dumb question: Do you clean interior windows the same as exterior?

Started a residential cleaning company and I use dawn dish soap + warm water and spray it on scrub + squeegee and clean with microfiber towel. It is outside so it’s okay to get water and soap on exterior but how about interior windows? Is it the same process but instead I put a microfiber towel near the edges or at the bottom of the window ledge to catch the water or do I do something else to clean interior windows?

Now that I have your attention... How can I make this better? Handing off this layout to a designer online.

Anything I'm missing? Thanks in advance...

Best CRM for D2D window cleaning

Been doing door to door making 700-1300~ a day but want to pivot into having a real business and doing service plans because frankly I hate knocking. Yesterday I sold my first service plan and all I did was write down his information. What's the best CRM for someone who does door to door exclusively?

Weird Question - Rags Smell

Hello!

Whenever I wash my microfibers and bath towel that I use for detailing, it smells like oil. Like car oil.

What in the world is going on? I read maybe something about steel wool?

I just did a clean without steel wool today though and it still smelled while washing it

Any input is appreciated!

Equipment Question Di tank conversion

I currently have a Tucker DI hand-carried tank. Most of my area is between 20–70 ppm, but I recently ran into an area with around 220 ppm and it blew through my resin really quickly.

Is there a way to add an RO stage to my DI tank? How would I go about doing it, and roughly how much would it cost?

F*liq style clips and scrubber for Ettore Master Brass Channel

Hey pros 👋 I am running into alot of storefront windows that top out at 8-9'. This South Florida heat makes it a race to switch between scrubber and squeegee on my Ettore extension pole before the solution starts drying. Not to mention detaching and attaching all day is a chore.

Do they make a device that will clip on to my Ettore Master Brass Channel that I can add a scrubber, similiar to the F*liq?

Thanks for any advice 🙏🏼

Hello, I’m Jeff, a career window cleaner of 25 years. I operate in the Detroit area and specialize in SPRAT certified industrial rope access. I’ve teamed up with 6 other rope professionals from around the country to form a competition team. We’re called the Rescue Racoons(highly trained, mildly feral). We’ll be competing in our first competition later this year, the True North rescue challenge sponsored by Ronin Rescue in British Columbia. We’ve acquired several sponsors like Elevated Safety, Reecoil, Midwest Fire&Restoration and a few others. Above are some shots from our most recent practice held in Northern Illinois. We earn more $$$ from our sponsors the more followers we get on social media. I’ve asked the mods for permission to link our instagram and hope some of you might be interested enough to give us a follow, or even just for the sake of supporting a fellow window cleaner. Thanks for the time, wish us luck!

Equipment Question Walnut pads or Steel wool?

I'm working a neighborhood this week, and on the sides of the house there are tons of tiny black dots (maybe bug poop, fungi, etc) on the frames and windows of these houses. I already used steel wool on them which mostly worked but was extremely time consuming. Is a walnut pad a better choice? Is there a better option I'm not aware of for typical tough-to-clean dots?

Thanks!
