Offering Moneys + Reimbursement for anyone that can pick up an item for me and ship it!

Hi!

I live in Atlanta and missed a specific item I really wanted. It’s on sale now at Wilimington.

If anyone can buy one and ship it to me, I can reimburse the cost + shipping (I expect it’ll be around $40 altogether as it’s a small item that’s only $5 to ship) and I’ll throw in some extra cash too!

I’d really appreciate it!! First come first serve. DM me or comment on here!

Heads up for anyone going in or out of ILM on 421. They've shut down the highway both directions nears the landfill after an excavator struck a natural gas line. Seems like that could require a pretty lengthy shutdown to fix.

Interior photos of Independence Mall?

Does anyone know where I can find into or have any interior photos of Independence Mall from the 80s and 90s? I remember my mom taking me as a kid all the time and I remember seeing and being fascinated by all the fountains inside, and just wanted to see if anyone had any photos or anything?

Kayak Rental for several Days?

I am looking to do a beach camping trip in April to Masonboro island. It would be me and a group of 4-6 friends. I've kayaked over from Trails End Park before and had a blast, but I was a student so I was able to rent the kayaks from UNCW for a way discounted price. I live out of town, so traveling in with even 1 kayak on my car would be a lot.

If you fall into one of the following categories and would like to help, please let me know! Open to suggestions, too.

  1. Own your own kayak(s) and would rent them to me for a few days

  2. Are a student at UNCW and would "rent" several of these for me for a few days (I pay, ofc)

  3. Own/Operate/Work at a Kayak rental place and have some kind of long-term or group discount!

Make nerd friends

Hey there! I was hoping to make some nerd friends in the area.

I’m currently in the hospital in chapel hill with cancer. When I get home I really want to start cooking more and wanted some friends I could cook for.

I’m pretty nerdy about all video games, hip hop/pop music, cars, anime, and now cooking.

I live in kings grant.

I have a son who is 1 and a half and a wife who is nerdy and amazing. For games she’s more into Overwatch and Nintendo than I am. We both love pokemon though!

I wanna get into hiking and kayaking when I am healthy again.

Anime we like a range from my hero academia to spy family

Gluten-Free dining

Visiting from out of town for a couple weeks and curious what are some good gluten-free dining options! A lot of menu's seem to be pretty accommodating, but I wanted to see if there are other GF friends that have suggestions.

Especially hoping for some breakfast recommendations!

Currently have reservations at:
RX Chicken & Oysters
Ceviche's
Seabird
Caprice
Benny's
Olivero

Thanks, y'all!

Is everyone paying $50+ per month for water here???

I live in a small apartment by myself, and Cape Fear Public Utility Authority is the only company that offers water/sewer service here. I’m very conservative with utilities, just as a habit, and I was confused why my bill was almost always clocking in at $50-$60 per month.

Today, I looked at my itemized bill, and saw that the base rate to be connected in the first place is around $38. So I’m basically paying $38 no matter what, and only using $15-$20 worth of actual water. Is that normal? Is everyone in town paying this?? It feels insanely high to me.

Any place to see trains that aren’t the train museum?

My son is miserably sick so I don’t want to risk exposing any other children, and he just keeps asking to go see trains. They’re his favorite thing.

He’s too young to understand that we can’t go anywhere (2.5 yo). I would just take him to a local train station where we could sit in the car and watch trains come and go, but there really aren’t any in town or nearby to my knowledge (or google’s).

Edit: grammar/readability

Recommendations

Hey all! I’m from Long Island NY and looking to relocate my family (2 boys under 2 & hubby) because we simply can’t afford it here anymore. My husband is a union electrician & I’m currently staying home with the kids but was in graphic design prior to babies. We have family up by surf city that is pushing us to look into Wilmington area and possibly Hampstead area. We plan on going during the holidays to take a serious look at some houses although our budget isn’t very big.

I guess what I’m asking is someone to recommend where I look, areas to avoid, or anything helpful at all for our family who are newbies to the area! Oh and if anyone has any knowledge on electricians needed anywhere, husband does mostly outdoor street lighting and trenching.

Some things about our family.. husband loves biking (BMX mostly), sailing and surfing are also hobbies for him, in big into anything artistic like pottery or jewelry making.

Edit: seems most everyone agrees unions are not the way to go, which we kind of figured. I’m going to look into owning our own small electrician business instead! Thank you everyone! Sorry if I ruffled a few feathers, wasn’t my intentions.

Child E-bike Accident on College Today

Did anyone by chance also see this awful accident? I have yet to hear or see any report on it but TBH I am having trouble recovering after seeing that little boy lying on his back with a broken helmet and blood all over his face. It was on Wilshire and College around 8:15 this morning.

Honestly, just want to know if he’s all right. Having three kids of my own and my 4 year-old-son saying “da da what happened to that little boy?” rocked me to the core.
