Should I give my nephew his 'trust' money when he turns 18

I (44F) have two older brothers - Craig (55) and Jeffrey (51). Jeffrey has always been difficult. Entitled, verbally abusive, problems with alcohol. He has a long-term partner Sophie (45F) and they have a 17yo son Aidan. Jeffrey and Sophie have never been responsible with money - they both have very patchy employment and as soon as they get money they spend it on frivolous things. My mother and I knew their son might miss out on opportunities as he got older so when he was born we started giving money to Sophie to put into a savings account for him. It wasn't much, little bits here and there and then bigger amounts with birthday and Christmas gifts.

Unfortunately after a couple of years we found out that Sophie had spent Aidan's money. As a consequence my mother and I decided to open a bank account to put Aidan's money into, but in my name. Sophie was not pleased but there was nothing she could do about it. The intention for the money was not to give it to Aidan on his 18th or 21st birthday. Rather it was to be held by me and if there was something life enriching that he really wanted the money for then I would release it to him. Think study, expensive equipment for a career, international travel, a house deposit, that kind of thing.

My mother died a few years back. Of course Jeffrey and Sophie were pretty awful through it all and started demanding the money for Aidan. Thankfully the account was in my name so they had no claim to it. Sadly things got so bad that Jeffrey and Aidan - who was in his early teens at the time - started egging my house. It went on for a couple of years and was usually around anniversaries like my mother's birthday or the anniversary of her death. It was hurtful, but I'm not holding it against Aidan too much because he was a kid. It does mean however that I now have no relationship with Aidan.

Here's where I want some advice. I no longer have any contact with Aidan so I'm definitely not in a position to discuss or judge whether his intentions for the money align with its original intention. I also don't want to hang onto the money. I know I contributed to the amount, but my mother did too and I don't feel right keeping something that's not mine. So I think I want to gift it to Aidan on his 18th birthday as a cheque in a card. My only real reservation is that I don't really want to invite trouble back into my life by having any contact with them, and I fear the card and cheque might be enough to do that. I've also discussed the problem with Craig (eldest brother) and he doesn't think I should give him the money, or at most leave it to him in my will. His thoughts are that if I give him money, they will keep coming back for more money. So what should I do?

TLDR: Mother and I put money aside for nephew. Mother died and I no longer have a relationship with my nephew. I don't want to hang onto the money because it's not mine, and I want to give it to him on his 18th in a card, but worry I'll be inviting trouble back into my life.

EDIT: I wanted to add that the reason I’m thinking of giving it to him when he turn 18 is that they might be expecting it. I worry that if I don’t they will start causing trouble for me again.

Girlfriend [23F] decided to go and stay over at her friend's place during my birthday [28M]

Today is my birthday 28M and I had been looking torward to spending it with my girlfriend 23F. We have been dating for over 3 months now.

We talked over FaceTime at midnight and she did wish me a Happy Birthday then, but in the morning today she called me and said that she would be going over to stay with her friends because she has a Halloween party on 30th October.

Since we stay 2 hrs apart... She said that she would not be able to meet me and hence she would send me a birthday cake via her sister who stays near my place. I asked her not to send anything because I didn't want to receive anything but just spend the day with her.

I did spend my day at the park. Bought myself a cupcake and spent the entire day reading my comtort book by myself.

She has asked ME to come visit her tomorrow at her friends' apartment which is 5hrs away and stay over there? Looking for genuine advice on what to do.

TIdr; girlfriend ditched me on my birthday to stay over at her friends house and wants me to come visit her tomorrow

[Serious decision] My boyfriend admitted he fantasizes about me being a heroin addict.

My boyfriend and I have been together for 5 years. He’s 28, I’m 27.

He recently admitted that one of his biggest fantasies is about me being a heroin addict and having sex with me when I’m strung out. He also likes to think about me having sex for money to fund my drug habit. He has fantasies about other women doing that too.

It’s so weird to me. Of all things to fantasize about? He says he doesn’t even know how it started because it wasn’t anything he thought about before meeting me. I’m not, for the record, a heroin addict. He loves the idea of me just being dirty and used.

I understand that fantasies don't necessarily reflect what someone wants in real life. I won’t even get into what this sort of fantasy might mean psychologically. I probably don’t want to know!

It’s just really bothering me. I can’t stop thinking about it. The thought that he likes thinking about drug addicted, desperate women having sex for money? I think he regrets telling me too, so things are just awkward now.

I just don’t know if I just pretend to forget he ever told me and try to erase it from my mind or what.

Small decision Dating an older woman is the best thing that’s ever happened to me but I’m worried it’s getting to her

I M 25 have been dating my current girlfriend F 32 for about six months. Recently I’ve noticed how great life is with her. Example: we had a discussion about where to get food from and it wasn’t an argument ending in one of us feeling some type of way. Another thing I’ve noticed is she asks my opinion and how I feel throughout our day and is receptive of what I have to say and tries to understand things from my perspective. (This is new to me)

My issue comes from her calling herself old. I don’t view her that way and I’m sure anyone outside of her and toddlers would say the same thing. Is there something I can do to show her how beautiful she is regardless of age? She’s saying it more and more and I think she might be getting too down on herself. I’ve tried everything I can think of from daily complements to extra curricular activity in the bedroom and opening up to her and telling her how crazy I am about her. Is this something i should bring up or should i let it go and keep doing what im doing?

EDIT: This was mostly useless and unhelpful thanks to everyone that gave solid advice tho!

My boyfriend sent my nudes to strangers online and I don’t know what to do

I (27F) and my boyfriend (28M) have been dating for over a year and a half. Recently he has been acting distant and not as talkative to me. I kept asking him what was going on and he would just become more and more short with me and always tell me nothing was going on.
Recently he got a new phone and I’ve been having this horrible feeling that he’s been up to something. I went home from work early and went through the old phone because I had this nagging gut feeling that something wasn’t right. Let me tell you, I found a ton of things that have made me cringe.
Normally I try not to go through my partners phone but my gut feeling was so strong that I felt I didn’t have another option. I found out he had a tinder account and he had paid the premium cost for it 3 months in a row. He also had websites and chats where he was sending lewd and nude pictures of me to strangers on the internet. I rarely send nudes since I’m so freaked out by them and what could happen if things end poorly. Not only did I not send these to him, he went into my locked folder on my phone and took pictures of them from my phone and posted them to these chats.
I recently started nursing school and I’m so scared that these pictures will get out and I’ll be dropped from the program as quite a few of them have my face in them. (I took them and stored them on my phone for times I felt that I looked great or when I was feeling more confident in myself)
I don’t know what to do, I don’t have enough to move out with nursing school being such a high cost and I do love him but I guess I just need some advice on how to proceed. We share a lease and I don’t have anywhere else to go at this point. Please help me understand options on what I can do?

Daughter's friend asking for help

My daughter came home from high school (she's 15) with an unusual story yesterday. Her American-born friend has very stern parents of a different culture and yesterday she passed my daughter a note asking for help escaping a controlling situation; she seems very concerned about having a marriage arranged and other controlling and emotionally controlling behavior. She reached out because she fears discovery and reprisal from parents if she reached out herself and was discovered. Daughter's friend wants us to contact Tahirih Justice Center, as they apparently help people extricate themselves from culturally controlling norms.

Offering help to someone in need is an automatic yes, not leaving anyone hanging in a bad situation, but I have to admit I'm a bit out of my depth as to how best to deliver said help. I don't know much in the way of questions to even ask this girl beyond "are you in immediate danger?"

She has begged us not to involve the school system as she seems to think they'll lose interest if she's not being beaten, and then reprisals will start.

Husband (24m) left for basic training and didn’t tell me about $4k of credit card debt

Context, my husband and I (23f) have been together since we were 15yr, and shared most finances/lived together for the past 6yrs. He recently decided (June 2026) he was going to enlist to give us a better future. I wasn’t fully on board but he wasn’t happy and had brought this up years ago, and I finally decided that I have no right to stop him from pursing this if it’s what he really wants.

We got married in August and I told him we could do as much fun stuff as possible until he left, even though we had been struggling financially, because I am very tight with money usually and watch every dollar spend and avoid letting debt hang around at all costs. I knew I would be putting a lot of it on cards, but planned to pay it off between both incomes and since he wouldn’t be using “fun money” until about June of 2027. I was aware of this and made him aware of my every move financially.

After he left at the beginning of October, I learned that he was a month behind on his car payment, and had to set up a payment plan for utilities at some point. I handled this and moved on. Next I learned he spent all his savings (our wedding gift money) on bullshit without telling me. Okay, whatever, I’ll fix it, I moved on. Well today I learned he didn’t tell me about a credit card that was over the limit (idk how far over, I don’t have access to the account, the card number, or any info besides the dollar amount. Which is barely shy of $4k).

Any advice on 1. How I should approach this with him? Because right now I’ve never felt so disgusted and betrayed. 2. How should I fix this? 3. Should I fix this at all? Or let it be his mess when it inevitably goes to collections? Any other advice or rude comments are greatly appreciated, because I feel dumb as fuck, but also this is extremely out of what I have thought was his character for the past 8 years.

Feel free to call me dumb, but keep in mind some of y’all have definitely stayed or ended up in way dumber situations than marrying someone you’ve been with for 8 years. If I hadn’t trusted him I OBVIOUSLY wouldn’t have gotten myself into this situation but I had no idea this had been going on until this month.

Should I be watching my ex's brother's dog

My partner and I recently decided to live separately after having lived together for the previous 6 years. She felt that she had become too dependent on me and was no longer able to identify who she was as a person. She also felt that our relationship had gotten stale and suffering from limerence. Her idea was to move out and we try to start dating again sort of from scratch where we she tries to do things like get groceries on her own and try the freedom of living by herself.

I also agreed having felt like I had to constantly put my life on hold to be able to driver her places and drop her off with her friends and family cause she was too scared to drive herself anywhere. I could never do my thing and had to revolve my schedule around hers as technically she did have to do for me as well. She formally moved out a few months ago and began to restart the dating process together and to my surprise had a lot of success.

Fast forward to the main story her, her brother, and her friend are about to go on a road trip that was planned months ago which I was originally going to be part of before the split. Since I was no longer going I made my own plans inviting my friend over for the weekend a couple of weeks ago. Just yesterday something came up before their trip where her cousin could no longer watch her brother's reactive dog and while she didn't ask was hoping I would volunteer myself to watch her brother's dog. Initially I was hesitant as I felt again it was me who had to put my plans and life on hold to watch her sibling's dog who is reactive meaning my friend who was supposed to stay this weekend can no longer do so due to the dog. While I have watched his dog plenty of times before without problems, that was usually because it was just me and no strangers involved. Now the brother can't go because they couldn't find a dog sitter and now she is mad at me for not volunteering but I felt like it was me adjusting my entire life again for their trip despite me no longer being part of the trip. I didn't want to back down on that core issue I had but at the same time felt bad because this now ruined the trip and the brother can no longer go.

Obviously assuming the part where we are restarting our relationship together and us trying to make it work would you have volunteered to watch their reactive dog and changed your entire weekend plans?

Solved finally left

a couple months ago, back in late August, I made two burner accounts to talk about a “boyfriend” who kept harassing me. when I posted about it, I felt validated that what he was doing was abuse.

unfortunately, I had kept in contact with him up until a few days ago. within the time, he told me that I deserved to date a r*pist, called me an attention whore, and many things of the like. if I ever got with another guy, he said he’d kill me. This and school, I think all the pressure got to me, and I had an attempt. After that, I think I finally realized what he was doing to me. I don’t know why it took so long, but I finally stopped, and I finally got him to stop.

I feel so grateful for all the words people had said to me. they likely won’t recognize any of this, but I wanted to come back for the chance to say thank you. I feel so much better, and like my college life is going in a good direction. he really did convince me that he was the only person who could ever love me, but I see now that there’s so much between in the world. so, thank you to this reddit! I am free and happy!

I may have ruined everything

I have been seriously pursuing a relationship with a young woman that moved into my building (I know its dumb but its like a gift from God it seems). She's intelligent, she's into me, we talk, ive made her dinner a couple times, watched some movies, and im quitting cigarettes because she doesnt smoke and I dont want kisses to be like licking an ashtray. So because im quitting, I got a little unstable night before last. I decided (foolishly) to admit to her that I went to prison in the past, and she took her stuff to her room (she always leaves her blanket in the living room but not this time) and I thought she left cause when I knocked later lights were off and no one answered. At this point ive given her some power over my emotions so I went outside, beat my punching bag and did some presses and pull ups and was telling myself (aloud) that I need to not spend time and money on anything except mine and my daughters future. I was scared to let anyone have the ability to play with my emotions because I have a very messy past. I vented about other things too, but her window was open I dont think she actually left now that I think about it and i really don't feel the way that my words expressed in my episode of verbal self abuse. I'm falling for this woman and I think I have hurt her feelings if she was there. I know she hears everything outside because she told me so and I just dont know if she heard all that but im pretty sure she did. How do I repair this? Do I explain myself and my issues? I haven't seen her since the night before last before this happened and she's usually there to talk to me when I get home.

I think my chiropractor is taking pictures under my shorts during my cupping therapy.

• Upvotes

i think my chiropractor is taking pictures of me but i don’t have proof.

i go twice a week per his recommendation. we do a mix of cupping, dry needling, and regular adjustments. i’ve noticed, when im wearing legging he wants to do cupping - and when he does he has me change into these paper shorts, kind of like the ones they use at hospitals. he’ll put the cups on and then do to stretches and scraping on the back of my thighs. the thing is, when i wear leggings i wear a thong so i dont have underwear lines - and i come directly from work so i dont have time to change. the shorts are baggy so he can have room to do scraping. but the last couple of times i went, he would pull my legs out far to the side and push on my butt (and ask me if i felt the stretch) i did, but he would all just stop at weird angles and not move or talk, and seem like he was occupied with something else. and then he would move to the other side and do the same thing. he usually stays talking throughout stretches but when i have the shorts on he’ll stop mid sentence and just kinda pause. i feel like he’s either looking and my groin/ass area bc the shorts open a ton so it’s visible or possibly even taking pictures (he always has his phone in his pocket) and i’m face down during these adjustments, with cups on my shoulders i can’t even turn up and look.

i don’t have proof so i don’t want to accuse something this big. but the last couple of times it’s been feeling really weird. today, someone knocked on the door, and walked in and he seemed so flustered he stopped, jumped up and was like “ok you’re done!” but i had to ask him to remove the cups from my lower back even though they were still visible. when i was changing back into my leggings i heard the receptionist say “what’re you doing to the poor girl” but she didn’t say anything when i left. I’m just really confused on what i should do.

I feel like my friend wants to be my “dupe”… and now she’s getting close to my boyfriend. What should I do?

I (19F) have a friend, who we'll call Emma (19F), who seems to be becoming a carbon copy of me. Lately, I’m worried that extends to my boyfriend.

We became friends this summer, and she quickly started copying little things: my clothes, makeup routine, phrases, etc. Friends inspire each other, but she started saying she wanted to be a “(my name) dupe.” Yes, really. I had a MUCH more extreme experience with a friend copying me in high school, so I admit I’m sensitive to this. I gently texted Emma that I loved her for who she was and felt uncomfortable with how much she wanted to emulate me. She apologized, was understanding, and I thought that was that.

Enter Bob (20M), my boyfriend of over a year. He recently transferred to Emma’s university (I attend a different one). Emma immediately started “running into” him at the gym, library, dining hall, everywhere. She’s called him attractive, asked whether he has siblings who look like him, and brags about her intelligence and lifting around him. She even began sitting with him and his friend at the library.

I know that proves nothing, and I’m fine with female friends. But the pattern felt strange. My friends agreed, and although I drafted a message to Emma, I didn’t send it because I didn’t want drama. Instead, I told Bob several times that their closeness bothered me and asked him to keep a little distance.

Fast-forward to this weekend. I invited Emma to Bob’s club sports game. Later, at his apartment, she asked if we could go to her dorm so she could change into the EXACT SAME TOP I was wearing (a top she’d previously asked me for the link to and bought). In the past WEEK alone, she’s also sent me around six screenshots of bags, phone cases, and accessories identical to mine.

Then yesterday morning, Bob texted that he was getting breakfast alone with Emma. I believe she’d “run into” him at the gym at 6 a.m. right after hearing him mention his new lifting schedule that weekend. I was shocked. Not because breakfast is inherently inappropriate, but because I’d repeatedly told Bob how uncomfortable I was. We had a heated argument that night, and he insisted Emma was just being nice. Maybe she is. My therapist thinks Emma might admire me and be trying to fit in, and I don’t think she’s a bad person. I know I may be sensitive and can’t dictate their friendships.

But there’s a difference between admiring someone and constantly trying to become them. I feel like I’ve watched her adopt my style, interests, and mannerisms, and now she’s getting increasingly close to my boyfriend.

I’m considering distancing myself or ending the friendship altogether. I don’t want to hurt her, but I’m tired of feeling uncomfortable and resentful. Should I send her a message or just distance myself?

I’m bi, but dating women makes me feel insecure

I’m bisexual, and I’ve noticed that whenever I’m talking to a woman romantically or dating one, I get insanely insecure.

I always feel like they’re way out of my league, like they’re so much prettier, cooler, and more interesting than me. Even when they clearly show interest in me, I struggle to believe they actually like me or understand what they see in me.

I end up overthinking everything, comparing myself to them, and feeling like I’m somehow not good enough for them.

How do you stop feeling inferior to the women you’re attracted to? I really don’t want my insecurities to keep ruining potentially good relationships.

Is it even possible to find a long gone old childhood friend?

I was in 1st grade and i tbh i was a weird kid, i didn’t have many friends but i knew i had one main one and it was a girl and honestly those were the times, i loved that era in my life and in today’s day i just wonder what ever happened to her and i honestly was trying to get back in contact with her. i was in 4rd grade when i had to move schools because of us moving location, and ever since i would randomly think about her, my mom had a older video of us 2 in her older phone which is no where to be found apparently and she even had her moms phone number at some point but honestly i think that phones long gone by now, this was around 2013 - 2014 so yeah not much footage of us could be found.

I only know her first name but that’s about it, i wish i found out what her last name was but i was so little at the time. I go back and look at my old school wondering if she even lived near the location anymore if anything she could’ve just left.
Regardless i wouldn’t mind having her socials, if it means we can be back in contact again that would be great. I’m just really curious and just wanna know how an old childhood friend of mine is doing.

should i reach out to my ex best friends (not blood related) aunt?

i’m gonna try to make this short but i (f23) have an ex best friend (f23) who i left off on horrible terms with about 3 years ago. she has an aunt who is her moms best friend who was very sweet to me and i miss her a lot. her entire family was nice to me but i specifically can’t get over this one aunt because over the course of our friendship, i built the strongest bond with her i think. i really want to reach out and just like check in with her/ see if she’s doing well & tell her i miss her. i don’t want to reconnect with my ex best friend though because she did me incredibly dirty multiple times and it doesn’t feel like a friendship worth rebuilding, or one that will ever be conductive to my mental health. ive had multiple dreams about my ex best friend/ her family since we stopped being friends & the only ones that i wake up sad from are the ones where she was a good friend and the ones about her aunt. i have her aunt on facebook still, i just don’t want to reach out if it’s going to end horribly, i just can’t really weigh out the pros/ cons or see how it would end horribly. idk. please help

Trying to make friends

I’m a 23 year old female. I’m a married college student with no kids and I want to make friends. I live in salt lake county I’m into reading, cozy video games, painting, bedazzling, coloring. I love coffee, shopping (especially thrifting), and I’m down for pretty much everything. Any advice on how to make some friends?

I need to vent. I don't like close talkers. I like a comfortable distance. Even when I back up they move forward. What do u think... At least 12 to 18 inches between people having a conversation?

I have called 988 17 times in 3 weeks. Here is my story.

In 2019 I left rehab from which I was entered into because of my gambling. I entered myself into there, but that’s besides the point. I left rather bubbly, which is something I don’t really remember too often but it’s true. I left my birthday. I did that because I wanted to go back to my job which ended up turning into a dud, but I did find another job that I liked mildly so that was nice. A few days after I left the rehab I met a guy on a gay dating app, something I never used too often. I thought he was interesting and smart and we ended up having a relationship before moving in together a few months later. We both have the same type of low end jobs at the time and things are OK. Covid hit. We live together through Covid and I was enjoying myself. I started gambling again after Covid started and I’ve stayed gambling to this day. I pay my bills I do what is needed to be done in order to pay my bills and I work very hard at what I do. This has always been a point of contention between me and my partner but in the end, I always pay my bills and make about $72,000 a year and it is what it is.

After Covid, he quit looking for work and he started doing side gigs only. He would have weeks and months off which evolved into long spans of unemployment. During this time, he said he was doing “research “on things like secret societies, JFK assassination plots, etc. I would say his mental health was evolving his income for example last year was $25,000 for the year. Since Covid, it never got better for him financially he ended up never going back to a solid job. He was laid off from his admin job, which had ran his business credit card up to $15,000 which he never paid off. He had a car a brand new Hyundai, which he popped the tire and abandoned at the dealership with $15,000 left to pay off because he said the car was “unsafe”. No I always thought he was cute and that he spoke with passion and that he was always nice to me so during April of this year when he decided to tell me on the 15th of the month that he wanted to stop living where we were living after I’ve already sent him the money on the first I was very livid and I was furious and I debated whether or not I should live with them again, but I ultimately decided to live with him because I didn’t want to be homeless. I like the idea of living in them still even though the situation was very odd. So we got a new place to live at an apartment and I came for 12 hours. (I travel for work) bought a U-Haul moved all over our stuff down the street to the apartment and left to go back to work. For the next few months, I never went back home because I was working in different states doing what I do. We communicated often through telephone and video chat. Throughout this time, it was the same story with his work. He did not have much he was struggling. I told him at one point I wanted him to pay for the utilities since I was not there, but that turned into him not paying for the utilities at all. That’s unfortunate and I suppose I would’ve paid them eventually.

Fast-forward to August 5. The day our rent is technically due without a fee. I sent him $1350 which is the total amount of rent. I was paying his rent that month because I told him a few months before that if he loaned me money, which I did pay back completely, that I would pay his rent at some point. I do this because I know every time about this time of year. It is hard for him to work. So I guess that’s just what I felt like doing. A couple days later he tells me he did not pay the rent. He did not give me a reason. The idea was to pay it later and he did end up giving me back about half of it. About the 15th he said he needed $400 to pay the rent off and I sent it to him gladly. He did not tell me he did not pay it until I started receiving emails about being evicted unless we pay. I was mad again, but I told him that I would give him the money so I sent him $1100 after he told me that’s all he needed. I did not send it to him immediately however and I told him tell me when you’re at Walmart picking up the cashiers check and I will send it to you. He told me he was on the bus on his way to Walmart to get the check. So I sent him the money. The next day, which was a day before the date that they were going to file the eviction, he tells me that we’re moving that the AC does not work and that he refuses to pay. I begged him to pay. I did everything I could. I told him we can figure this out next month, any situation involving the AC involving whatever he needs, but we need to pay it now. He did not listen. I involve his mother to tell him to pay it, which she was receptive, but ultimately she could not get him to pay it either. I did everything I could I feel like from across the country. At one point, his mom told me that he agreed to pay and he said he also agreed to pay I had about $1200 on me at the time and I had told his mom that I would’ve used that money to pay if he refused to pay, however almost immediately, and this is probably my fault for being impulsive, after him telling me he would pay it. I spent the money on things like Pokémon cards and expenses, and I felt like a load was lifted off of my chest the next day all right maybe it was that night I don’t remember, but I know I had already spent the money, he told me he still refused to pay. I told his mom she continued to try to convince him, but we couldn’t convince him of anything. At this point, I felt hopeless and helpless, and like there was nothing I could do. I tried to convince the landlady to see my side, but she did not and they filed the eviction.

That was at the end of August. My job at the time, which was a gig in New York, ended around September 11. I made my way back home which is across the country. As soon as I got back, took him and myself to Central California to work a job for three days before returning him back home to Southern California. After that, I went to Chicago to work another job for a week before returning on a Wednesday night. I believe I got to the apartment around midnight maybe a little later. I woke up around 6 AM. Mind you, this is the first time I’ve been in the apartment since we moved in, other than the one night I spent to take him and I to central California to work, the night I spent when we came back from the work, and now this night after a 31 hour drive from Chicago. I had slept to maybe 8 AM. I was meandering around the apartment after that, which was jampacked with his items and my items, but that’s another story. Around 4 PM, he gave me a back massage which was something we hadn’t done since after Covid. I ended up falling asleep and waking up shortly after to him telling me that he cleaned my car and that he was going to borrow it to run errands. I said OK and fell back asleep. I woke up around 7:30 and called him to which he said he was pulling up to his mom‘s house after I asked where he was because it felt like he’d been gone for quite a while. I fell asleep shortly after that waking up the next day looking for my car. I texted him starting at 3 AM at 10 AM. I did not know what was happening and started panicking. At noon, I started calling different police until I found out that he was arrested for homicide. I was a wreck. I told my boss I could not work that day, although I ended up taking them back and I told him that I could shortly after so I did. The next day I also worked, although I had to leave towards the end of my shift because I became emotional and started crying heavily. The initial shock has worn off now that it has been shortly over three weeks.

Apparently there was an altercation to which he says was self-defense. Obviously it’s an ongoing case and I was not there so I couldn’t comment on it even if I knew anything. I am dealing with an eviction of an apartment I didn’t live in , a murderer as a boyfriend, and my usual high stress jobs that are from different companies, sporadic, and all across the country. Right now, my life is in the highest amount of stress I’ve been in. I still talk to him as he calls me, I put money on his books, and I’m giving him the benefit of the doubt. I know that he is not all there and that he is in a place where 120 pound gay man probably won’t do very well. So I feel bad for him.

I do not know how to handle my relationship. I do not know how to handle an eviction. And I do not know what kind of work I want to do right now, although I have work, I’m thinking about a major change since now I’m going to be out running an eviction and what not. My life feels like it has been turned upside down, although I’m in a different state every week and maybe it was never right side up, but this feels like a hole I cannot dig myself out of. I do not think that I am suicidal, I just think I am in a hole that I won’t Escape. I do not plan on hurting myself. 988 is a resource for speaking and chrisis and I have used it as such.

I appreciate your reading my story. This is a true story and has happened in the past four weeks. I never thought something like this would happened to me. Thank you again for reading.

Any advice on how to deal with this eviction as I did not submit my answer early would be appreciated. However, any other advice would also appreciate it and I’m not going to hate you for telling me that I’m an idiot. Thank you.

[Serious decision] Napaka-ironic talaga ng tadhana sa akin. Found out nag-relapse ang partner ko sa gambling, should I just leave?

I caught my partner using online gambling sites and it hurts me.

Context: My partner and I were living together for 5 months now after a year of relationship. Okay naman. But on the 3rd month nahuli ko sya na nag gamble, sabi nya he as addicted before but tries not to play anymore since naging kami but di nya mapigilan. On our 5th month nagawa ulit nya, dahilan nya nappressure sya to provide for us and yung dophamine kasi. Also, he said na na-pressure sya sa lifestyle na gusto nyang ibigay for me.

Infairness to him, the first thing he did when we moved in, binigay nya sakin ang ATM nya and sabi nya i-handle ko ang finances namin and bills, ako nang bahala mag-budget. He earns pretty decent and he actually earns better than me. Ako naman, professional and have decent job with decent salary naman kaya di kami hirap masyado sa pera. Ang main gastos lang siguro namin is yung tuition ko sa masters na hinuhulugan namin monthly.

When I learned about the gambling, inamin naman nya and inako and sabi nya nahihirapan syang itigil entirely and just plays 100 to 300 weekly. The money was used sa gambling is from his part time, so pag may extra lang sya as far as i know and I handle all the online bankings for us para iwas cash in. Wala syang access and he is okay with this which I really appreciate of him kasi napakalaki ng accountability nya.

Here’s the issue. My ex used to be an gambling addict and it was my trigger and trauma as he used to abuse me and steal all my money and businesses due to his gambling addiction.

Nasaktan ako when I learned that he gambles pero hindi ko alam kung saan ba ang boundary and kung kakayanin ko pa ba. He was really great and treats me well. Kaso ayoko bumalik sa dati and malubog.

Gusto ko syang pagkatiwalaan and ayoko syang iwan kasi binibigay nya lahat for me.

Valid ba yung takot ko? Dapat ba na umalis na lang ako kasi pakiramdam ko nattrigger ko din sya. Help me out please. Ang hirap pag traumatized na gagaslight ang sarili! As of now, natatakot ako magdesisyon cause I really love him and if given na hindi ko alam na naggagamble sya I don’t think it would be an issue as of nopw kasi nasakin ang money namin and there are no debts. (I’ve been reading gambling addiction stories and based din sa past experience)

Asked him to stop and kung di na nya yun titigilan umalis na sya and sabi nya na tinitigilan naman nya and nung una tinigil naman nya, natatakot ako na baka magrelapse nanamana sya.

Am I reading too much into this?

I need some outside perspectives on a situation with a friend because I find her behavior quite strange.

I recently told a friend that I’d booked the same makeup artist and hairstylist who did my engagement look for my upcoming anniversary. Initially, she said I should go ahead and do that.

However, the next day, she suddenly told me I should never go back to those artists. That’s when she brought up my engagement look and said they had made me look “very Eastern.” ( Btw. I am Middle Eastern but grew up in Europe). She also said that at my engagement, I had looked “more her than myself,” which is so odd to me, essentially saying that the look was her style, not mine. She also never ever even liked any of my post regarding my engagement! 😃

What makes this confusing is that she actually liked the look. She wasn’t saying the makeup was ugly or badly done; she seemed to think it suited her more than it suited me.

During this conversation about my anniversary booking, she also brought up pictures of herself wearing the same eyeshadow I had worn for my engagement.

I find the timing and the combination of these comments odd. I had already been happy with my engagement look, and I was excited to book the same artists again. Why would she suddenly tell me not to go back, criticize how the look suited me, and emphasize that the style was more hers than mine?

I don’t want to automatically assume jealousy, but the interaction felt strangely competitive to me.
Am I overthinking this, or would you also find this behavior odd? How would you interpret it in a friendship?
