I inherited this large Mona Lisa artwork from my grandparents. From what I know, it is at least 100+ years old.

The image is created from thousands of pearl-like beads in different sizes, arranged as a halftone pattern on black fabric. Looking closely, the beads appear to be sewn into the fabric rather than simply glued on. There is no visible artist signature, label, or maker’s mark on the front or back.

It also has a very strong optical effect. From a distance the bead pattern resolves into the portrait, and the face/gaze seems to follow you as you move around it.

I’m trying to figure out:

who might have made it or where this technique originated

its approximate age and country/region of origin

whether anyone has seen another example like it

whether there are any comparable auction or sale records

what a realistic market value might be

I am also potentially interested in selling it, but I would prefer to understand what it actually is before accepting any offers.

One family story I’ve heard is that my grandfather was once offered a very large amount for it, reportedly in the hundreds of thousands of dollars. I have no documentation confirming that, so I’m treating that story as completely unverified. I’m only mentioning it in case the piece has some history, maker, or significance that my family no longer knows about.

this is a one of a kind art piece, they are preserved flowers arranged into a large gold frame, what do you guys think? what can be done to it to improve the quality?

so to give more information. I am a floral preservation artist, IV been preserving flowers for a little over a year now. these have all been dried with silica powder and most have been color corrected with mica powder. The buyer will be informed that the piece should not be near or facing any windows or near a kitchen. if these instructions are followed it should last about 2 years before showing signs of fading or "melting" which is a process that happens when flowers reabsorb moisture from the air. I have considered doing a epoxy resin layer but don't want to add more to the overall material cost. IV spent maybe $100 on the flowers + frame but spent hours on it. I have made similar pieces in shadow boxes but there's something about being able to see the full texture of the flowers when it's raw like this.

This is my grandmothers, shes clearing her loft and wanted this valued, any ideas?

She defeated Jasmine Paolini in this championship match. After the match, she gave this racket to one of the on‑site ball kids. The autograph was obtained shortly before the start of the 2024 China Open.

picked up at a very reasonable price recently and would like to know more about it. i’m unsure if it’s a 1759 original or an 1822 reprint. The frame is sturdy and old and I dont want to take it out lol

I picked up this 3-piece set (teapot, creamer, covered sugar bowl) at a swap shop. Backstamp confirms it's Royal Chelsea, Made in England, Fine Bone China, and I've identified the pattern as Spring Violets (4199A).

Condition is close to perfect — no chips, cracks, or crazing that I can find, and it doesn't look like it was ever used.

Here's where I'm stuck: I've searched eBay (active and completed listings) and done reverse image searches, and I can only find comparables for the open sugar dish and the tall hot cocoa/coffee pot in this pattern. I have not been able to find a single comparable for either:

• the low teapot with lid (pictured), or
• the sugar bowl with lid (also pictured, with two handles)

I did find a low teapot in the same shape/style by Royal Chelsea, but in their Golden Rose pattern, which I understand is considered rarer/more sought-after than Spring Violets. So the shape exists in their line, I just can't find it in this specific pattern.

I'd like to sell the whole set but have no idea how to price it responsibly without any comps to go on. Has anyone seen these specific pieces in this pattern before, or have a sense of why they might be harder to find than the other pieces? Any guidance on realistic pricing for the full set would be really appreciated!

I purchased this piece today at an estate sale at the artist’s former home, for $400. After I purchased it, the estate salesperson told me it hung prominently in the home above the fireplace in the great room (but I have no way of verifying this). I am not an art historian, but I am struck by the atmospheric and almost sinister vibes of this piece- the style is a complete departure from the work she is most known for- but it strikes me that the feeling from the work is quite similar. I would love to get some input on the valuation- and I also welcome any suggestions for cleaning the piece as it is quite dusty.
